As a citizen of my country, delivery, hospital visits, medications and anything else pertaining to the health of mother and child, are covered by the health care system. There are also tax breaks and benefits available for new parents and parents with kids under 18.

As for the things you listed in your OP, #1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7 are your responsibilities as parents, not the government's. That's why it's a good idea to be financially-ready before having kids because yes, they do cost. You can't expect the government there in Austria, or any government for that matter, to fund those things for you; those are your (financial) obligations towards your child/ren, hence you've to bear the costs yourselves. I wish you and your wife the best.
where exactly is that you live ?just curious where all those are covered . if you actually read and understood this...this is just an experience as first timers with simple price tags to expenses so far. in fact you mentioned health plan and Government covers bla bla.....i stated clearly we saved money specifically for this ...we are infact doing ok in no way looking for handouts....

It is. You should know not everyone is in the same country as you, hence my response.
This is well obvious it pertains to particular country or even cities in particular. I am narrating my personal experience not a generation of entire continent ...

in you case Having a baby is quite affordable in this part of the world and comes with numerous perks. So long as you're under the health plan, prenatal care, delivery, medications, and any sort of care will be covered by the government .

To be eligible for any Government baby grant is determined by your immigration status not for everybody. Such grants are barely enough for milk ...does government cover all expenses i stated above for childcare like your statement ??

what part of Europe do you live ?...

if you ask me i would say dont do that journey to Italy ...it is highly risky...more people have lost their lives than the people that made it ...

sir please what's the best way to immigrate to austria? It's only my body left in this country,my spirit isn't here.
immigration these days is really difficult to say what is best...countries are making rules stricter and tighter...i came here years ago as a student doing masters and went on to do PHD now i have a job at one of the university...of course the biggest hurdle is language...i was luckily a fast learner and still learning

FamilyRe: Having And Raising A Kid In Europe by gummi21(op): 6:18pm On Feb 27, 2021
like I wrote before....I wished she was established here at least a year or two and got some kind of income. Either through work or through some kind of education. Government pays certain amount money to support you while at school and that would counts as part of money you get after you have a baby and going to stay at home for while....becoming a permanent resident or citizens reduces automatically your hospital fees...again two incomes means you can afford more.

again this people care about new born kids ehh ....follow up visits and calls to check up the baby.. this is awesome irrespective of language barrier..

Mille:
Mehn, I feel you.

I'm supposed to have been back in Europe too.

But after having my first child last month, I'm still rethinking it, especially childcare costs. Enrolling my baby in childcare facilities means my wife earnings will majorly go into childcare payments, having my wife stay at home will leave her dormant careerwise. Besides, the baby is still too young for daycare facilities.

How do you intend to navigate that aspect. Maybe I could learn from you.

Children are expensive everywhere. cheesy
11 kids ? naw you are joking...we feel this way maybe because this is our first and we are going over top with some expenditures and my zeal to give family everything humanly possible by my pockets...we can only live once..

Obs!!
This is going to be a long thread…please forgive any typos or punctuation errors…this is not an English class just a thread for anyone that cares for this kind of information.
So, my daughter is two months now…kudos to all mothers and to new and perspective mothers. This has been a learning curve for me and my wife.
been married almost 5 years separated by distance due to work engagements. I was running a PHD while she was working at an embassy in Abuja and other circumstance but finally, we are together under one roof. Having a baby right away was something I didn’t want to immediately my wife moved here…wished she stayed here at least a year or so to get accustomed to this country and learn some language or maybe some language schooling…you know woman and age she is now 35 worried chances may reduce older you get .
whole pregnancy was story for another day …ha-ha she is an adult baby(compliments)4 normal planned doctors visit,6 unplanned visits,4 ambulance rides to emergency which all become no issues. Delivery was smooth and fast even though she has a very tough 9 months.
Expenses
1.Baby technician 500 euro
to secure the house…sharp corners, ensures bed location is safe and kitchen is safe…. ensuring everything is standard and acceptable before baby arrival.(4 hours of work)
2.new and modern oven old one not safe enough 400 euro
3.babybed inclusive changing quarters and nest 600 euro
4. 3 in 1cars seat with baby strollers 400 euro
We went all in for quality
5.all ambulance rides and medications before birth and baby birth 1500 euro
6.small small expenses clothes, pampers, toys 1200
7.micellenous expense 500…
We have so far depleted more than 7000 out 10000 I saved specifically for this…
With one income and more and more expense off courses savings keep going down.

Don’t get it twisted…..i have cherished every moment with this baby girl who just looks like my mum…going to give my wife and our kid every single comfort we can afford….

lets go

what local oil is suited for a Hyundai 2006 ...manufacturer recommends 5w20 or 5w 30 if the first is not available...what are people using that is tested and ok.the car is not used that much.

I know people would start recommending the foreign mobil 1 and quartz's and the rest. thanks in advance

after I put this up and sent it to him even mentioned putting his address and exposing him...he came to beg saying it was machine error bla bla. Even though I believe he is full of lies. Zero honesty ... He tried to return money paid to him but that is not my major concern...he has been doing it constantly...you know the saying "you are only sorry when you are caught"

he doesn't want to lose his reputation ...I asked him what reputation ?? he is a complete fraud...cheating unsuspecting car owners who do not have any clue about car scanning and error codes.

I am worried he is continuing with that for unsuspecting car owners...I will check this out when I am on ground and meet him in person.

TRYGO:
So sorry for what happened to you.

Here's what I'd have to say.
1. To car owners, try and get a small code reader. This would help you be able to at least retrieved any stored codes, and maybe google them, to have an idea of what's going on with your car.

2. You must not be handy with tools to get your car's problems fixed. You can guide your mechanic, if he doesn't understand some of the codes.

3. Some mechanics find it frustrating to work along side with car owners, when it comes to such an interface.

4. To my colleagues, let's no matter what, try as much as possible, to keep existing or potential clients in the know of what we're doing, when it comes to fixing their cars.

5. I have clients, and I like them though, that are more enlightened about their car issues, when they cone over for fixes.
That way, you both share ideas, just in case you get into some sort of difficulties (remember, no one knows everything ALL!)

6. When your cars are fixed, pls do ensured you are absolutely satisfied with the job, before driving off(away).

¶¶¶¶¶¶¶

Have you contacted the mechanic to put your observations to him already?

Car TalkBeware Of Fradulent Mechanics by gummi21(op):
Beware of these so called mechanics. Everyone thinks just politicians are corrupt, but corruption is found virtually everywhere...
As for me I just paid him 20k which is just peanut but for others it is not...I am just worried he is doing it to people and extort hard earned money from them...
My Hyundai Tucson 2.7 Awd which I use when I am around mostly for 2-3wks at a time ..car arrived in Nigeria dec 2017 very low mileage 9000km...car is in fantastic good shape.
Car had been parked since Jan 4...My friend drove the car a week ago and noticed it does not roar from gear 1...lacks power but when it moves it picks up even no issues when in motion and again hard start when hot...we all thought maybe plugs...fuel pump...etc
Fastforward mechanic scanned it and sent me this report..[img][/img]first pciture
.and told me he fixed the error codes...(yes he said he did)Hahaaaaaa...fixed the gear and movement issues Haha.. he got another error codes yes to fix the hard starting this second picture [img][/img]...Haha..
My sister who took the car to mechanic told me the issue might really be wiring issues because rat ate some wires close to fuse box...
Now I started noticing some inconsistencies and took closer look at the reports he sent...
Vin numbers don't match. He sent me two different car reports..my sister confirmed those two cars in the reports are right there...i asked for report which has my cars vin ...he couldn't give me any report with my vin.

The problem with the car was that wires bridged causing the car into safe mode that made the car slow start because it moves with third gear...hard start when hot is simply the computer protecting the engine. This mechanic wanted 45k for all his work...Haha yes all his work..
