Boss answer my question now? Concerning the Trojan killer for phone not rooted Reediano: You are actually right... That's the Reason I listed just five of the trusted security apps.
some cyber criminals do create malware apps in form of antivirus so that you will install them without even knowing what you are getting into.. |
Phones › Re: 5 Best Antivirus And Anti-malware Apps For Android by gungab(m): 3:15pm On Sep 02, 2016 |
Reediano: The Android platform has recently become a major target for cyber criminals as they find it easy to infiltrate through some danger apps and this has actually raised a whole lot of question about how secured the Android platform really is. This antivirus apps are not actually there to protect your Android phones against viruses but they actually act more as anti malware.
Having an Android device without any antivirus app installed is more of like you exposing your phone to unknown danger like Trojans and Malware. Although antivirus are mostly important for those who often side load apps into their device but that doesn't mean those who only download their apps from trust stores are completely safe as we have had multiple occasions where malware apps finds their way into trusted app stores like playstore.
So the bottom line is that it's always available to always have one of these apps on your smartphone and also to always perform a regular scan. But the problem there is that we have a whole lot of anti malware apps for Android device and knowing the best among them all will always be a big task since we can't always test them all.
So have decided to list five of the best antivirus apps for Android devices and talk a little on each of them. Although the main purpose of these apps is to protect your smartphone against dangers but most of them do come with more added features which am also going to talk more about.
5 Best Antivirus And Anti-malware Apps For Android 1. Avast Mobile Security: With over 100million downloads, over 4.3 million reviews and an overall Google playstore rating of 4.5, this app is not just one of the most popular but also one of the effective ones out there. Although I will always pick "Stubborn Trojan Killer" over it in terms of malware detection and removal but this particular app takes the lead in terms of real time protection of your device.
One other thing that makes Avast mobile security stand out among the rest are the added features that comes packed with this app such as the remote data recovery, remote SMS, geo-fencing, ad detection, app locking etc.
2. Malwarebytes: This app is very well known for being a very light weight yet effective protection tool on PC and they have managed to carry that legacy on to the Android Platform. If you need a very light weight, simple and less bogus antivirus that really gets the job done then this is the right choice.
The app focuses most of its attention on anti-malware protection and also your privacy protection. So if you really need a simple app with less complicated features to help you protect your smartphone against malware attack, then I will recommend this app.
3. AVL: The user interface of this app is one of those few things you will notice at first. This app which is currently rated as one of the best Android antivirus app at the moment features one of the best and easy to use interface out there.
Even with the efficiency of this app, it has been optimized so that it has very little impact on your phone's battery consumption and overall performance. This app is also completely free.
4. 360 Security: With over 100 million downloads, over 14.4 million reviews and a playstore rating of 4.6, I really don't think there is any way you will mention mobile security apps without adding 360 security to the list. The app which was formerly known as qihoo has been around for a very long time now and it has greatly improved over the years to put it in the position of one of the best mobile antivirus apps at the moment.
The 360 security app features real time protection that guards your phone against malware, spyware, and other vulnerabilities when installing apps from third party source or even from playstore. It’s also capable of detecting and fixing system vulnerabilities . The app which also features built in system optimizer regularly cleans junks from your smartphone to free up more space and it also free up RAM space to improve your phone's general performance.
5. Stubborn Trojan Killer: Although this name might sound new to a lot of people as it really isn't that popular, but this app is arguably one of the best anti-malware for your android device.
Aside the fact that it performs a regular check on your smartphone, it also has the ability to remove any detected malware from an already infected smartphone even from the system level of your phone. It is also relatively light. Note: If your device has already been infected then you need root access for Stubborn Trojan Killer to effectively get rid of all dangerous apps on your smartphone.
So guys here are just five of the numerous Android antivirus and anti-malware out there. I will try to update the list pretty soon. Also If you think there is any other effective mobile antivirus app I might have left out just let me know in the comment box below. To download any of the apps, you can check out the link below.

Until I came across "Stubborn Trojan Killer" walahi this is the best antivirus I've ever used... Thanks to it my phone is free from those crazy virus. No more auto switching on of my Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and data...no more auto installations, no more ads, no more switching off of my phone..... Phones › Re: 5 Ways To Protect/guard Your Android Smartphone Or Tablet Against Malware Attack by gungab(m): 12:52pm On Sep 02, 2016 |
Reediano: The Android platform is currently the most popular OS in the world today, over half of all smartphone runs on the Android OS. It is so popular that if your tablet or smartphone isn't running on iOS then it's mostly likely running on Android. Android is an open source operating system which means any phone manufacturer can easily modify it the way they want and it also allows any developer to release their own app. Why this might sound like a good thing you might also want to consider some of the disadvantages as it leaves the OS exposed to harms like malware's. https://updato.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Android-Malware-.jpg Aside the OS being open to third party developers, the popularity of the Android OS is also another reason why most cyber criminals focus more attention on it compared to other OS. Malware attack can be so bad that when an Android phone is infected cyber criminals can easily intercept messages, monitor phone calls, steal personal information. It even go as far as constantly intercepting with the regular phone activities thereby leading to excessive data usage, phone lagging, overheating, battery Draining and with time it can even render the phone almost useless.
Although viruses doesn't exist on the Android platform, but malware does. And that is one thing that makes the Android OS a bit more secured. While virus can easily attack without the owners consent, malware need a the owners approval before it can gain access into your device. So what this means is that with the right knowledge, malware can be prevented from attacking your Android smartphone.
Am going to list a few Tips to help safeguard your Android smartphone from potential threats and I will also try to do that in details.
Ways To Protect Your Android Device Against Malware => 1. Download Your Apps From Reliable Source:
This is where the whole problem starts from. Downloading apps from untrusted sources can pose a big threat to your device. It's always advisable to download your apps from trusted stores like Samsung, G store, Amazon and most advisably play store, as this stores regularly perform security checks on their apps. And even though sometimes malware can still find their way in, Google play store for instance still has the ability to uninstall an app from your phone when it suspects any harm.
==> 2. Always Read And Understand App Permissions This is also one other thing a lot of Android users do neglect. Whenever you are Installing an app from play store or even side loading it through a third party source, a list of Permissions that the app is requesting for will always be displayed before you click on the install button. It's always advisable to go through the whole Permission list before you click on agree and if you notice anything suspicious it's advisable you ignore the app or seek for more info online.
For instance I don't see any reason why a calculator app will need your location or a wallpaper app will ask for permission to view your contact or messages. Google has even made it more easier on devices running on Android version 5.1 and above as you can easily edit app Permissions by enabling it under your security settings. This allows you individually personalise how certain apps are granted certain Permissions.
==> 3. Always Disable Installation From Unknown Sources Just like I said earlier, before malware can gain access into any Android device, it needs the approval of the user. It always advisable to turn off "installation from unknown sources" under security settings on your phone
Once that is disabled, no third party app can be installed on your Android device unless you enable it.
==> 4. Enable Google App Verification This is an extra measure introduced by Google since Android version 2.2 to help verify apps before they are been installed on your device. Although this is usually enabled by default but most times some people tend to disable it. When enabled, Google will always scan all installation from third party and warn you of any potential threat when found.
In case this is disabled on your phone, just open Google settings app from your app drawer and enable it under security settings.
==> 5. Always install anti malware apps While those tips above might go a long way in helping you safeguard your device, they might still not be enough to protect your smartphone from malicious apps. Many trusted names like Avast, AVG, BitDefender, Kaspersky, Sophos, Norton and a few others have really been around for sometime now. They have different security teams that are always research round the clock just to make sure your device is as safe and secured as possible.
It's advisable to always have at least one of this on your Android device for added security. Most of this apps even offer more services like anti theft protection, device tracking, remote wiping among others.
Bonus: while all those points mentioned above might be very effective, the most effective of them all is your common sense. Try as much as possible to stay away from pirated apps and anytime you notice any suspicious activity on any of your installed apps the first thing you should always do is to completely uninstall it before seeking for help.
Most times reading other people's comments before you download or install any app can also go a long way in protecting you again unknown dangers.
I might have omitted a few points up there but am pretty sure if you follow those guide lines mentioned above then your device will be free from any form of malicious application.
I will publish a post a post very soon where I will I list a few signs to know if your Android device is infected by malware or not. And maybe after that, I might write another article on steps to take if your device is already infected.
If you have any question, feel free to ask and don't forget to share this post on all your social media platforms.
