That’s not how student accommodation works.

Whoever you’re renting from will tell you the move in date (usually from September) and you can book anytime before then with a small deposit (usually £100 - £150). If you check Reddit you’ll see a lot of students have booked their September accommodation since January and rent payments will start when you move in.

People book early so they can have options and because there’s a housing crisis. But it’s safer to book directly on the accommodation website and not through a third party

Don't mind the guy. Yes, it is called Holding deposit usually (100-£150) and if you don't meet the deadline for their requirements, you'll have to forfeit the money. Some landlord or estate agent do this a lot.

Most are non refundable tho..
