Travel / Re: Dubai’s National Insult To Nigeria! by gw4s: 8:08am On Feb 02, 2021
Gerrard59:

In summary, Nigerians - same folks who went to the UAE on day one only to break into a gold store on day three - are inherently dishonest and nefarious set of people. Why is she not doing same to Kenyans? Ghanaians? South Africans?

Exactly my point - there are SOME bad eggs in Nigeria, just as there are in every country worldwide. But Dubai's actions have bigotedly characterised all of us under that umbrella. And our tacit acceptance of this label is only making matters worse. The narrative must change!
Travel / Dubai’s National Insult To Nigeria! by gw4s: 10:24pm On Feb 01, 2021
Today, I travelled from Nigeria to Dubai on Emirates. However, what happened at our international airport in Lagos can only be called a national insult! After fulfilling all requirements and having a valid negative COVID-19 test from a Nigerian hospital, the Dubai government released new regulations insisting all travellers from Nigeria must take another COVID-19 test on Nigerian soil – which they were in charge of – before we would be allowed to fly. To add further insult to injury, they contracted individuals from the Kenyan government to conduct the test, which was charged at an equal amount to the test already done in Nigeria!

In other words, what they are doing effectively makes the initial Nigerian test invalid and questions the integrity of Nigeria’s government and medical system. They are rudely reckoning that all the tests conducted within Nigeria are fake and should be discarded. What an insult! I am not saying the UAE government should not facilitate another test for COVID-19 if they insist – but why not do it when passengers arrive in Dubai? Why are you doing it in the soil of Nigeria? Is that not an insult? If there are some test results that are discovered to be fake, then take appropriate actions against the perpetrators. But to conclude that all tests originating in Nigeria are counterfeit is simply offensive. The Nigerian government should do something about this before it’s too late. This is sadly another example of ‘colonialism’ – the Dubai government entering inside Nigeria’s airport (without any official permit) and making it mandatory for our citizens to do another test before flying.

They additionally announced that no airline can carry passengers from Nigeria to Dubai if the journey is not a direct flight, effectively ruling out all carriers except Emirates. Now, I understand that tourism is Dubai’s number one source of revenue and they stand to gain a lot from the popular Nigeria-Dubai route – but why then do they also insist on enforcing a second COVID-19 test in Nigeria’s airport? Will it be written that this test was conducted on the soil of Nigeria by the government of Dubai? Why is it only the nation of Nigeria where this is being enforced? Well, if Dubai’s government insist on such draconian measures, this is the time to protest! If no Nigerian visits Dubai for one single month, I am convinced their tune would quickly change, they would do the right thing and this offensive new law would be brought to a swift end!

Politics / Why David Lyon Was Removed As Governor - His Deputy Is Olumba Olumba Bishop by gw4s: 3:52pm On Feb 13, 2020
I am one of the entourage that followed David Lyon from Bayelsa when he visited The SCOAN three times.

I was there when Prophet TB Joshua insisted to David Lyon that he wanted to see the Deputy-Governorship candidate Senator Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo - because he was seeing an obstacle. However, he said he would not come to The SCOAN because he is a Secretary General to Olumba Olumba.

After Degi-Eremienyo refused to come - despite several invitations from TB Joshua - the man of God publicly declared that it was too early for Lyon to share his testimony and that the situation still required serious prayers. I believe David Lyon tried all efforts to bring him but the man refused.

Even on Tuesday, David Lyon was in The Synagogue when the Supreme Court confirmed him as the rightful candidate. TB Joshua again asked him the whereabouts of his Deputy-Governor elect, stressing that he was still seeing an obstacle. Joshua was invited as a special guest to the inauguration on Friday but he said he would not attend because of that obstacle. David Lyon laughed and told him he would come with Degi-Eremienyo to The SCOAN for testimony after the inauguration... Today, we can all see what has happened.

The question remains - who chose this man to be the Deputy-Governor? This is word and opposite. There is no way the two of them would have been able to work together effectively!

Yesterday, I was with Bayelsa’s Governor Elect David Lyon when he visited The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations in Lagos. He spent hours in prayer at The SCOAN Prayer Mountain and was with Prophet TB Joshua when the news was announced that the Supreme Court had confirmed his victory over Heineken Lokpobiri. Thank You, Jesus!

She was building the house for TEN YEARS, visited TB Joshua and completed it FOUR YEARS later - and some ignorant people are crying 'corruption'.

I think this is not an attack against Mrs Kargbo; it is an attack against TB Joshua.

Religion / Reflections On 4,000+ New Redeemed Pastors & 12,000+ New Redeemed Deacons by gw4s: 6:54pm On Aug 07, 2019
Personal observation: I certainly welcome news relating to the advancement of God’s Kingdom but I genuinely question the wisdom behind the mass numbers of new Redeemed recruits in the vineyard. Can Pastor Adeboye personally attest to the character and integrity of the 16,000+ individuals he just ‘released’ into ministry?

The prevalence of stories about Redeemed Pastors caught in ungodly, immoral or corrupt circumstances would certainly suggest a clear-cut answer to the above query. There are equally accounts of former Redeemed ministers who revealed that physical criteria - as opposed to spiritual gifts - were the main yardstick for elevation within the Redeemed hierarchy. All of this creates the impression of a well-oiled business expansion - with financial accruements the ultimate end-goal - as opposed to the outpouring and outworking of the Holy Spirit.

May God help the Church in these trying times!

Religion / Minister Of Information Urges TB Joshua Not To Relocate by gw4s: 1:59pm On May 04, 2017
Lai Mohammed urges TB Joshua not to relocate

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has reacted to the decision of the founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Pastor T.B. Joshua to relocate from Nigeria to Israel over what the pastor described as hostile operating environment. The minister described the decision as very unfortunate.
He made the comment in an interview with the travel press during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigeria Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) held in Ikeja, Lagos. The minister pleaded with Joshua to reconsider the decision as it would not be in the interest of Nigeria. He called for dialogue between the pastor and authorities over whatever challenges that he was facing. Lai declared: “That will be very unfortunate in the sense that if he does move out, it will affect our tourism in Nigeria. Pastor Joshua is an important person, he must bear with us. This is his country. If he moves out and go to South Africa (for example), the revenue will go to South Africa. It is better that Pastor Joshua sits down with the relevant authority and resolve whatever problem he has. If I have access to him this is exactly what I am going to tell him.”
Speaking at his church service on Sunday April 30, 2017 Prophet Joshua disclosed his intention to leave Nigeria and relocate his ministry to the nation of Israel, where he recently held meetings with three prominent Israeli mayors of Jerusalem, Tiberias and the Jordan Valley. Pastor Joshua said Israel offered him both land and facilities in an area around the biblical site of the Sea of Galilee, to organise meetings for international pilgrims. “This is where my Father in Heaven came from – it’s non-negotiable,” Joshua explained.
“It’s the best place for you to meet Prophet T.B. Joshua. After your healing, blessing and deliverance, you can move around all the spiritual monuments which will establish your faith,” he clarified. Joshua said his decision to leave was not connected to the “persecution” he endured during his ministry in Nigeria. He said the move would help people to “appreciate” what his ministry had been contributing to both the local economy and Nigeria’s international image. “This is the most persecuted ministry in the world. Who are the people persecuting the ministry? My people, Africa. That is why I chose to live a lonely life. I don’t go out. It has not been easy – because I don’t know who is a friend or who is an enemy. Anytime you pray, remember Africa in prayer. Many heroes and great people have been chased out of Africa. There are many geniuses in the Western world who are originally from Africa.” The cleric pointed to the example of heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua who was allegedly turned down by Nigerian sporting authorities when he wanted to represent the country. “What happened to me from the beginning of my ministry is enough to chase me out of this country – but I am still in your midst, upon the persecution and hatred, I decided to follow the path of love. You show hatred; I show love. When I go for a revival, you will see the stadium full but I am not carried away by that. I leave where I’m celebrated to live where I’m persecuted. Where you are not celebrated is the best place to stay, to get strength,’ he added.

Religion / Nigeria’s Economic Predicament ‘foreseen’ – TB Joshua by gw4s: 6:44pm On Jul 20, 2016
Nigeria’s Economic Predicament ‘Foreseen’ – TB Joshua

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHmeNurv4t0

A ‘prophecy’ from T.B. Joshua for 2016 seems to be coming to pass as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, made depressing revelations concerning the Nigerian economy during a recent closed-door meeting with senators. During a New Year’s Eve broadcast, the popular televangelist addressed the nation on Emmanuel TV about how things would supposedly get worse under the Buhari regime. He particularly referred to the dire conditions in which Nigerians would find themselves due to the Nigerian economy. He revealed that, among other things, there would be food scarcity – in the cleric’s words he said, “There will be large scale scarcity, shortage of food […]”.

During the same prophecy he continued, “The president will do everything to reject devaluation of the Naira – which is a good idea from a good leader. But there will be overwhelming pressure which he will not be able to resist […]”, he said. Joshua additionally went on to say, “Nigeria, we are in a valley. The future is crying for help.” A few months later on the 22nd of May he further elaborated on the word ‘valley’ as he proclaimed, “I explained that we are in a valley but it is not the valley of the shadow of death. There is no snake or scorpion, it’s different. When you are in the valley you will cry and cry but you will still get out of the valley.” He went on to say, “You have to continue to cut your coat according to your size. Don’t just continue to spend your money on something that won’t be able to help you. Spend your money on something that the whole world will be looking for – food, shelter.”

On the 20th of July, 2016, the cleric’s ‘prophetic’ words are apparently coming to light as headlines across Nigeria read “Nigeria’s Economy in Bad Shape – CBN”. These headlines were referring to the meeting held in Abuja with the CBN governor and senators. It was during this meeting that the CBN governor spoke about the difficult times ahead and the necessary steps needed to circumvent these difficult times. With almost all economic activity being stagnant in Nigeria, different economic policies are being put into place to help the people of Nigeria; whether or not this will indeed help the current situation is yet to be seen. However, it can be recalled that on the day T.B. Joshua gave his 22 May, 2016 prophecy he also advised the people of Nigeria saying, “If you are the type [of people] planning to build a house now, stop it for the mean time. If you are in the business of buying land stop it for the mean time – look for another business. Stop it for the mean time until February next year. Use that money on the need of people now […]”. He also advised that “we have to go to the farm to arrest [and] alleviate the forthcoming situation”.

While the cleric’s ‘prophecies’ remain controversial in some circles, they do continue to be cited by many across the world. He was recently said to have predicted the Nice attacks as well as the Brexit from the EU. His influence continues to grow as his social media presence gains more popularity.

Religion / Zimbabwe Blocks Chris Okafor For Being A 'fake T.B. Joshua' by gw4s: 11:01pm On Oct 08, 2015
Chris Okafor leader of the Liberation City World Outreach Ministries
Security agents in Zimbabwe allegedly detained two Nigerian pastors and blocked their leader, Chris Okafor - who last year prophesied President Robert Mugabe's death - from entering the country.

Okafor, the leader of the Liberation City World Outreach Ministries, reportedly said in October last year that Zimbabwe would have a new president by March this year. This apparently did not sit too well with the living Mugabe.

The saga has caused much debate on the internet from both Nigerians and Zimbabweans. Many bashed religion in general and called all self proclaimed prophets a sham. While there were some who said that those like Okafor were just mere imitators of the real thing. One person commented on a popular Nigerian based blog,

"Pastors should not force themselves to give prophecies just because they want to be known as being anointed. Not every pastor can be like TB Joshua. They are all desperate to be like TB Joshua, hence you see them copying whatever TB Joshua does e.g. healing prayer-line session, laying hands on the congregation for deliverance, using anointed water to heal/deliver people, giving one-one prophecies, giving international prophecies, giving alms to widows and poor members of the congregation etc....things they never did until they saw TB Joshua doing them on Emmanuel TV".

What is your take on this? Are all of these so called prophets nothing but hoax or are there some that are actually what they claim to be?
