Thanks for posting this.

Horlardorjah:

If all professionals are to charge the standard fee for drawings and other services like consultation and the likes, many won't be able to afford it and the professional bodies are not so united to stand n enforce this
The disunity in those association have way to people that are not even graduates of those professions to practice with little knowledge they have which is one the comedy you just read now.
You were not quotes high except you did not get value for your money.
I do designs with many details inclusive, ceilings, tiles, landscape n many more that the cheap ones won't do, hence I will charge more than people doing cut n paste

I know that not everyone can follow it and for public projects that is another kettle of fish. I am simply letting the OP know that he shouldn't feel overbilled.
UC92:

Which Arcon? Which scale of fees are you talking about? It has never been effective in this country even for public projects.

You haven't been overcharged. Currently the ARCON standard scale of fees puts the charges for the design & production of working drawings at 7.5% of the estimated building cost (this doesn't include supervision).
flexyonline:

Really it seems I have always been quoted high prices for this service. The first time I made drawings was in 2012 and it was 500k. I made another one in 2014/15 for 700k. I did not build any of those as I changed my mind, sold one of the land and still keeping the other. This one of 1.4 million was done last year and I am about completing the building now. My friends get quoted similar figures for their drawings too so I am baffled at the prices guys are quoting.

Nice work, your craftsmanship is so refreshing to see. Did you use a chalk line to make that blue mark ?

I agree with what you've said about the way they name floor levels but storey and story aren't interchangeable. A storey/story refers to the same thing which is the floor level. Floor to floor height is a different term.

hakeem4:

I think you’re mistaking floor for storey!

G+1 is a 2 storey building wether American or Britain
The only difference is Britain calls it ground floor while Americans call it first floor.

But storey is from floor to floor or floor to roof.

It matters. If you check the Wikipedia image it states "story".
2 Story = American, 2 Floors (1st & 2nd)
2 Storey = British, 3 Floors (Ground, 1st & 2nd)

hakeem4:
a storey means from floor to floor or floor to roof.

A bungalow is a one storey building because it consists of only one storey (floor to roof)

A duplex is a 2 storey building and one suspended floor (dpc to first floor then first to roof) that’s why it’s a two storey building

British or American naming.

British named their ground floor as ground floor whilst the Americans call it first floor. This doesn’t really have anything to do with storey.

Congratulations once again Lekan Did you start from A1 or you had previous French experience ?
olalekan9320:
Yes, it was, many thanks to elders of this thread

It was physical class

In my opinion, physical class is 50% tutor, 50 % personal efforts while online class is 25% tutor, 75 % personal efforts.

My "exam experience" was similar to the one shared by Framaro and asusfanatics.

My questions
CE
Normandie
Magazine Elle
7 et 97
Estival
Facilite
Apart from the long texts, other questions were totally new.

CO 047 (only OGs would understand)

EE
dans un monde moderne. Le magasin ne devrait jamais fermer

A man that just retired was sharing money and a passerby called the police...

Here is my timeline, it isn't ideal because of Covid

Joined IEF November last year till mid march because of covid angry. I moved to self study, my speaking wasn't good so I started searching for people to speak with got a few from different countries. Also paid a friend/tutor just to speak with her. Read schaum's grammar, French verb drills, TEF 250 ( all these books are available on this thread) also scanned through Alter ego B1, B2 and C1.

My friends and I started speaking almost everyday around April/May, it was/is very helpful (still having the réunion up to tomorrow smiley ). I also got another tutor to correct my writing and speaking. Returned to IEF in June for B2 but left after like 3 days, I felt I don't really need it, went back for TEF class in July. Did several speaking sessions with Mamaroon and monsieur Fabguen, was certified okay and we eventually moved to writing, they gave a lot of advise and tips which really helped (Thank you very much for your selfless service, I so much appreciate). Left IEF again in July as I felt I really needed to focus on my writing, traffic wasn't also helping, so I continued with my previous tutor, she corrected my speaking and writing.
Ayande do send recent EE questions which I usually answer and she correct (Thank you very much )

Wrote the exam in September, result came out after about 20 days.

Just to add
I focused more on writing and speaking because the pass rate is low especially writing, it's the French that you know that would help(and grace), no shortcut unlike the other two.

Read the long text for reading and listening more than 6 times. For longtext, there are different editions, same questions but different answers, I used the long text on TEF academie

The Ogas of this thread have already given a lot of tips, you can click on their moniker to read them.

TEF gave me 48 points, Wes and Unilorin has been passing me to each other but not really bothered since my CRS score is now 491
