The school is run by an NGO, whose core objective is in the provision of educational scholarships to disadvantaged children, we presently have four of such schools in Lagos where tuition free scholarships are obtainable.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Program Director and/or Program Manager, the Fundraising Officer is responsible for developing funding proposals, coming up with creative initiatives that will ensure a sustainable funding stream for the organization. The Fundraising Officer reports to the Program Director and/or Program Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develop a fresh fundraising portfolio with a mix of donors: individual, corporate and in-kind support systems for programs (community service, scholarship, mentoring, schools-in-poor communities, etc.) and administrative running expenses.
- Regular communication with sponsors, partners and volunteers.
- Manage the agency’s website and various social media accounts.
- Work with other program staff to plan and implement programs that would create opportunities for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) to learn in a fun-filled and interactive environment.
- Work with members of the Organization’s Governing Board to develop, implement and evaluate fundraising plans and strategies.
- Responsible for the writing and editing of monthly/quarterly newsletters (electronic and print) and brochures.
- Initiate partnerships with other NGOs, corporate bodies and government agencies and develop proposals for funding to prospective donors.
- Responsible for initiating and implementing non-traditional funding methods like social enterprises (businesses) to ensure a sustainable revenue generation drive.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of program areas, including current issues and key resource people and organizations, and a clear understanding of how they fit into the Agency’s interests.
- Stay informed about, and follow up as necessary on, grant-related issues throughout the grants' duration.
- Establish and meet specific work-related goals as outlined in quarterly work plans and gauged in quarterly and annual statistics.
- Attend all Board Meetings to provide administrative support, take minutes of meeting and provide reports on assigned tasks.
- Participate in joint efforts and affinity groups of the Agency and with the provision of psychosocial support to beneficiaries and caregivers.
- Represent the Agency professionally by making presentations, responding to inquiries and attending meetings and conferences.
- Develop position papers as assigned on new subject areas for creative and active involvement of the organization.
- Collate and report a weekly and monthly summary of activities and achievements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Bethesda Child Support Agency was set up in 2001 by Freedom Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to pioneering social reformation through education, rehabilitation and empowerment programs.

The primary focus of Bethesda is to mobilize efforts of government, private sector and other development agencies towards securing educational opportunities for children in disadvantaged families/communities. Since inception, Bethesda through the assistance of its partners and sponsors have spearheaded efforts to provide free qualitative education, school supplies, nutrition, and healthcare to over 3,000 Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) in Lagos and other neighboring states.

As the number of children under our care increase on a daily basis, there is a great need to ensure that every aspect of their educational and other psychosocial needs are met. This is the reason we are writing to ask if you could spare some time to work with us as a Monitoring & Evaluation volunteer.

There is no special expertise required, and you don’t have to have a Social Science degree. All you need is the passion and belief that our project and indeed the children we reach out to are worth working for, and that volunteers are the most important part of a non-profit organization!

There are home and school visits to be done; one-on-one interactions with our children; information collation on forms…you name it. There is a lot to do, and we need your help.

Our organization provides educational scholarships to disadvantaged children in our society and one of our core programs is in building of schools in poor communities. We presently have four schools that provide free educational services to over 400 children that would not have been privileged to go to a proper school.

One of the schools, which is located in Bariga, Lagos, needs qualified and passionate teachers who would be willing to impact these children.

TO POST, I currently work with an established NGO here in Lagos and ve vast experience for 3 years now on several programmatic and operational activities, the vision of the NGO is in provision of free and quality education for Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Lagos, we presently service over 400 children.

To set up an NGO,
Although the CAC registration is important, u have to obtain some relevant tools before you can be considered e.g an office space, a board, policy documents, a vision, and a registered name. But operation could still commence before this registration but it wld be advisable you make advocacy to the LGA where you intend setting up. In return, you would be issued an LGA certification which is legal and can be used for your operations, CAC can be obtained later in course of your operations just that the NGO won't be able to seek interantional grants.

For more info on operations, i could recommend some existing NGOs with relevance that can nurture your project.

Finally with all the hard work and the help of friends, this guy had set up his

You never fail until you stop trying. One rainy day, while this guy was driving,
he saw an elderly couple sharing an umbrella in the rain walking to some
destination. Even with the umbrella, they were still drenched. It didn't take
him long to realize they were his girl's parents.
With a heart in getting back at them, he drove slowly beside the couple, wanting
them to spot him in his luxury sedan. He wanted them to know that he wasn't the
same any more; he had his own company, car, condo, etc. He made it! What he saw
next confused him, the couple was walking towards a cemetery, and so he got out
of his car and followed, and
he saw his girl, a photograph of her smiling sweetly as ever at him from her
tombstone and he saw his paper cranes right beside her,
Her parents saw him. He asked them why this had happened. They explained, she
did not leave for France at all. She was ill with cancer. She had believed that
he will make it someday, but she did not want to be his obstacle, therefore
she had chosen to leave him. Just because someone doesn't love you the way you
wa nt them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have. She had
wanted her parents to put his paper cranes beside her, because, if the day comes
when fate brings him to her again, he can take some of those back with him,
Once you have loved, you will always love. For what's in your mind may escape
but what's in your heart will remain forever.
The guy just wept, The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside
her knowing you can't have her, see her or be with her ever again, hope
you understand.
Find time to realize that there is one person who means so much to you, for you
might wake up one morning losing that person who you thought meant nothing to
you.
