Agriculture › Re: What Is The Difference Between Orobo Chicken And Other Chicken We Buy In Frozen by Hallams(m): 11:52am On Jan 06 |
Well I am not an expert in the field but let me drop my 2 cent. The broilers you raised for Christmas are essentially the same type of birds processed and sold in frozen food stores. The main difference is that farm businesses involved in frozen food production usually raise their birds for a shorter period, most often about six weeks, to achieve a target live weight of around 2 kilograms. After processing, this normally gives a dressed weight of approximately 1.3 to 1.4 kilograms. Since your birds were raised specifically for the festive period, you may have kept them beyond six weeks, and they could have exceeded this standard weight. Birds raised for too long often grow larger with reduced fat cover, and this can affect the quality of the meat after dressing, which may make them less desirable to hotels, eateries, and similar food businesses. You can still proceed to process them nonetheless, and they remain suitable for personal consumption or direct sales. |

maasoap: You lied! VAT existed in the past but not implemented in this format, this method is new, it was recently passed by the house and approved by Tinubu. This is not the kind of VAT implementation you were used to. You think national assembly and Tinubu were wasting their time and efforts on something that already exited? You think NLC and other Nigerians are shouting about the VAT they were already used to? vanbonattel: Just listen to yourself!
If she has been paying this high VAT, why is she now crying out loudly?
Some people just support evil because it's done by their people. Listen carefully as well. If you are not aware that the 7.5 percent VAT has been in effect since the Buhari administration, then you need to read more. I have personally been charged 7.5 percent VAT consistently since 2020. This is not new information. People should take the time to understand facts for themselves rather than relying on noise. So-called influencers are not smarter than you most times; they are simply louder. I s |
Celebrities › Re: “Tax Don Start” — Influencer Cries Out After Paying ₦487,500 VAT On ₦6.5 Million by Hallams(m): 8:18am On Jan 03 |
seunmsg: You’re capping nonsense. Is VAT a new tax? If she had made the same purchases last year, would she not have paid the exact same amount as VAT? So, why will any manufacturer increase price in January over a VAT law that has been in effect since the 90’s?
Again, are you aware that with effect from 1st of January, 2026, Company Income Tax has reduced from 30% to 25%? So, will manufacturers whose CIT has been reduced force any price increment on their customers? Does that make any sense? Are you even aware that companies with an annual turnover of < 100m are now fully exempt from CIT? So, why will such companies push any increment to customers? I am surprised that many people believe this is a new tax. Nigerians have always paid Value Added Tax (VAT), and it was during the Buhari administration that the VAT rate was increased to 7.5 percent. As Taiwo Oyedele rightly stated, this is not the introduction of a new tax regime. Unfortunately, it is the so-called influencers who are misrepresenting the facts and attempting to rubbish the entire tax reform conversation. |

Politics › Re: Kano Hisbah Islamic Police To Destroy Trucks Loaded With 4,920 Bottles Of Beer by Hallams(m): 5:40pm On Dec 11, 2025 |
nairalanda1: I have addressed that on this thread , but in summary, most states, infact all states can't raise income from normal taxation because most Nigerians work in the informal sector. So they rely on monies from Abuja including vat.
Vat is supposed to in my opinion go to the federal government. In my opinion. But since states dont raise enough revenue, that is why vat is suddenly a serious thing.
Kano has a very low tax to gdp ratio.
Also, christians should consider moving out of Kano or abiding by their rules. Hisbah has been destroying alcoholic drinks for 20 years That's enough of a message to christians living there who drink alcohol
Now why do christians like you run to Dubai where the same sharia law applies and where drinking alcohol is restricted severely
Also states should benefit from the vat they collect in their domains, or the federal government should keep vat for federal purposes. In case I haven't made it clear. Time many states started raising income from within Your claim that all states cannot raise enough revenue from taxation is incorrect. Many states may struggle, but saying all is wrong. Are Christians the only ones drinking alcohol in the North? You People are quick to applaud the destruction of alcohol even though the region has a serious drug-abuse problem. Hear yourself. Saying Christians should consider leaving the North is very telling. |
Politics › Re: Kano Hisbah Islamic Police To Destroy Trucks Loaded With 4,920 Bottles Of Beer by Hallams(m): 4:55pm On Dec 11, 2025 |
nairalanda1: No, it is true federalism in action.
Every state has the rights to set state law.
Many of you don't understand true federalism. You think it is all about resource control. It isn't
Just as a Muslim doesn't have the right to damage beer bottles in the south east, so also a Christian does not have the right to object
Drinking beer is not a Christian value anyway. Waste of money and damages the liver
Plus in America that you admire, there are dry counties there. No alcohol
Anyway, one is free to move from Kano to a place where they don't destroy a man's business. Simple and short. I don't know why someone would be crazy enough to set up alcohol drinks business there especially since we know hisbah has been doing this for over 2 decades sorry to ask, the dry counties , do they share from the VAT placed on alcoholic drinks? |
