A 46-year-old Pastor, Olamide Sobowale, of Glory Church of Christ Aladura, Oke-Itoku, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has been ordered to be remanded in prison for allegedly raping a woman while bathing in his church backyard.
Pastor Sobowale, who was arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, yesterday, was accused of raping one Dupe Makinde, 30, who lives in Isaje, Abeokuta, while taking a spiritual bath allegedly recommended by the pastor.
The prosecuting counsel, Paul Etusi, told the court that the accused grabbed the complainant while she was in a bathroom within the church premises and raped her.
Etusi said the complainant had already put the soap on her face as she began bathing when the pastor suddenly entered the bathroom, grabbed and raped her with soap on her face.
According to Etusi, the accused had told Mrs. Makinde that he had a vision about her and asked her to come for deliverance in his church.
He said: “He asked the woman to come to the church to take a spiritual bath for her deliverance, but, while the complainant was taking her bath, the accused barged into the bathroom, grabbed the woman and raped her.
“The accused has committed an offence contrary to section 357 and punishable under section 358 of criminal code of law of Ogun State, Nigeria, 2006.”
Magistrate A. Araba after listening to the prosecuting counsel, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison till he gets advice from the Director of Public Prosecution and adjourned the case till September 16,2013.

A panel of enquiry set up by the Ogun State Government to probe the alleged mismanagement of N200 million paid by the government for West African Examinations Council, WAEC,fees, has submitted its report indicting some government officials of stealing N31 million.
The panel, while presenting its report, yesterday, said that some officials of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology,reportedly added a total of 3,571 external candidates to the legitimate list of students that sat for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, in the last three years in Ogun State.
The administrative panel of enquiry was set up by the Head of Service to look into alleged caseof illicit and fraudulent diversion ofgovernment funds with a view to unravelling the fraud and recommend appropriate sanctions to prevent future occurrences.
Chairman of the panel, Alhaji Abdul-Fatai Opebiyi, who presented the report to the Headof Service, yesterday, said apart from the money allegedly diverted,various sums of money were discovered to have been held illegally by certain officers of the Ministry.
Opebiyi, who is the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Strategy, explained that the panel had recommended appropriate sanctions against culpable officers and suggestions on ways of preventing future occurrences.
Responding, the Head of Service, Mrs. Modupe Adekunle congratulated members for the successful completion of the assignment, expressing optimism that their recommendations would be faultless for adoption.

A mother of triplet, Mrs Joyce Peter, has appealed for financial assistance toenable her take care of the babies.
Joyce, who is from Delta State butresides with her husband in Port Harcour, made the appeal, yesterday, saying things had beenvery difficult for her family since she had the children on July 30.
Joyce, who is a fresh graduate of English language, said her husband is in the entertainment industry, adding that he was yet to find his feet.
She said: “They are my first children. I had them through caesarean operation, CS. The cost of taking care of them is so heavyon me and my husband. I am appealing to Nigerians to assist us.
“Things are rough with us. I have not started working, so to a largeextent I don’t do anything for a living.

The Ogun State Police Command said it had recovered the corpses of two of three robbers who fled when policemen attached to Odogbolu division of the state engaged them in a gunbattle along Omu/Epe road in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State, last Wednesday.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement in Abeokuta, yesterday, explained that his men went in search of the fleeing robbers with some members of the vigilante service of Ogun State and recovered the corpses in the nearby bush a day after the gun duel.
It would be recalled that three robbers escaped with gun wounds after engaging the police in a gun duel last Wednesday.
According to Adejobi, “the corpseshave been deposited in a mortuary in Ijebu Ode.
He said: “The command has put machinery in place to harness all available resources on ground in the state to provide adequate security of lives and property for the general populace.
“The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, CP Ikemefuna Okoye appreciates the people of the state particularly the members of the Vigilante Service of Ogun Statefor their support in achieving the effective policing of Ogun State.
“In the same vein, the command will always work with other security agencies in Ogun State, inall ramifications, to get the state rid of hoodlums.”

The combined team of Kwara State Police Command and Vigilance group in Ilorin, Saturday night, swooped on the hideout ofAiyeConfraternity initiation which led to death of three, four critically injured while 18 were arrested.
The cultists from neighbouring states, who were returning from an initiation ceremony were mistaken for robbers by the security operatives.
The command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olufemi Fabode, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, confirmed the incident in Ilorin, yesterday.
Fabode explained that prior to the incident, the police had information that on Saturday night, robbers were hiding in a bush behind NASFAT village along Airport Road, Ilorin preparatory to unleashing terror on the residents of the area.
He said: “This prompted various vigilance groups in the communitiesaround the place to mount sentry on all roads that lead to the bush and waited until early hours of themorning when the Aiye Conferternity completed their initiation.
“Unaware that ambush had been laid for them, they ran into it. The vigilance groups mistook them for robbers and opened fire on them.”
The PPRO said during the exchange of gun fire, three of the cult members fell and were almost burnt before men of the command got there.
The police spokesman confirmed that three of the cultists died, four critically injured and 18 of them were arrested and are being interrogated by the men of the state CID.
He said some of the cultist came from as far as Lagos, Osun, Ibadan and Oro respectively, adding that more of them will be arrested
He said investigation still continues while those died have been taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital mortuary , the injured taken to hospital and the rest 18 are cooling their feet with the CID.
He enjoined Kwarans “to always give useful information to the Police with a view to make the state crime free and warned parents to monitor their wards assome of those arrested disclosed that they were yet to gain admission to higher institution, neither their parents know their where about,saying if this could happen then they would graduate to become kingpin of the group,” he noted.
He however urged the members ofvarious security agencies in the state to partner with the command in its untiring efforts to make kwara state a crisis free one.

The police in Enugu State have shot dead the leader of a gang of kidnappers during the operation to rescue a victim.
A statement from Mr Ebere Amaraizu, the spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, on Friday said the victim, Mr Faith Omoboriowo, was rescued unhurt.
Amaraizu said Omoboriowo was abducted at Nru in Nsukka Local Government Area on Aug. 11.
He said that the leader of the gang, Obiora Agbo, was injured in agun battle with the police when hecame to collect the N2.5 million ransom which the gang demanded.
“The victim was rescued unhurt onAug. 22 at Ohebe Village in Orba, Udenu Local Government Area at midnight,” he said.
Amariazu said that Agbo gave up ghost on the way to the hospital. (NAN

Dozens of suspected Boko Haram militants in Magumeri forest, Borno, have turned to human eaters after being stranded for days without food or water.
Magumeri forest is about 150 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital.
Mallam Momodu Bukar, a suspectedmilitant, told newsmen on Saturday in Maiduguri that he fledthe camp at the forest on Thursday when it became obvious that he was going to be eaten.
“I thank God that I escaped because I would have been slaughtered by now to provide meal for my colleagues at the camp,” Bukar said.
The suspected militant was captured by a Youth Vigilante Group, popularly known as the civilian JTF at Baga Road motor park, Maiduguri, on Friday..
He said the militants had been in the forest since May, when they were dislodged from Marte, Marte Local Government Area, by the Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order (ORO) after the declaration of the Stateof Emergency.
“Our group, consisting of about 300 well armed combatants, headed for Magumeri on the orders of the sect leader, Abubakar Shekau, shortly before the military took over Marte Camp.
“We have been wandering in the forest. We have exhausted our food and water supply, and so, everybody became hungry,” Bukarsaid.
He also said that they lost contactwith Shekau due to the closure of GSM services by the Defence Headquarters.
“It all started last Monday when three of the combatants in camp died of acute hunger, and it became obvious that all of us will die if action was not taken.
“The leader of the group, Abu Omar, directed that a non combatant member be slaughteredto provide meal for the rest.
“The meat provided meal for the combatant for just two days and another person was killed in the same manner on Wednesday.
“So, it became certain that I mightbe the next person since I am alsoa non combatant member.”
Bukar said he escaped after volunteering to help search for drinking water for the group in a nearby village.
“I left the camp on Thursday evening after agreeing to fetch water from the village.
“After leaving the camp, I started running until I arrived at Magumeritown, so, I slept in the motor parkbefore boarding a vehicle to Maiduguri with the little money on me.” he said.
Bukar said that he was apprehended immediately he arrived at the motor park in Maiduguri by the youth vigilante group.
Commenting, an official of the vigilante group, Mallam Ajid Asheik, said the suspect would be handed to the Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order (ORO) for investigation

For Nollywood actress, Ngozi Nwosu, life begins at 50. Having been to what she calls "hell and back", the fair-skinned entertainer may have finally conquered the storm. Bubbling in a celebratory mood, Nwosu was resplendent in a black body fitting dress and blonde weave atan event organised to celebrate her birthday on Wednesday.
Save for a walking stick placed byher side, there was nothing to suggest that the actress recently underwent a surgery. For many years she brought laughter to many homes, playing, “Peaceful Peace”, one of the troublesome wives of Chief Fuji in the Amaka Igwe’s soap, Fuji Houseof Commotion, until she was diagnosed to have a kidney related ailment.
Nevertheless, Ngozi Nwosu said she remained upbeat throughout the ordeal. “I was positive throughout the experience but at a point I thought I would die and not make it to 50. But I havereceived the grace of God, and He has given me a new lease of life. It is like a second coming to life. God has given me my life, it isa gift I really treasure. And my advice to people is: just live your life, nobody knows tomorrow,” she said.
Unlike some of her colleagues whopassed on before financial assistance could arrive, Nwosu has been lucky. Fans, colleagues and the Lagos State Government succeeded in raising the N6m lifeline required to offset her medical expenses in a UK hospital in December. But before respite came, the Imo State-born actresschose to keep mum about the true state of her health, which gave rise to a series of speculations.
Her silence was because she wanted to handle the situation on her own. She explained to Punch, “I felt it was something I could handle on my own. So, it was as if I turned a deaf ear, thinking and praying that it wouldbe over soon; until God said, ‘No, my daughter, I will handle it the best way for you', and here I am today.”
Between February and April, she had been undergoing treatment in the UK. In past interviews, Nwosu, who has been out of the acting scene in the last two years, said she was initially diagnosed of pile (haemorrhoid), and had an operation. She had already resumed working until she discovered that she had developed some issues with her kidneys.
Choosing not to comment on her personal life, thick-skinned Nwosusaid she couldn’t be bothered about the speculations at the time.
She, however, declined to give more details on the nature of theailment and treatment abroad.
“They (critics) said so many crazythings but I don’t want to think about it. I just want to thank Godthat I am alive today. I also thankthe critics because they have contributed to making me strong and alive to prove them wrong. To those who felt this was the end of Ngozi Nwosu, I just want to tell them that this is just the beginning of Ngozi Nwosu.”
She also discarded reports making the round that she had been sighted at various movie locations. She explained: “I have only gone on the set of Fuji House of Commotion because I played a major role there, because they had been waiting for me all along and had run out of episodes. So I just had to be there to play a little of my role. Itis just to tell people that I am stillalive and I will be back on track.”
While she admitted her readiness to take up new scripts, the key word for now, according to her, is moderation. “I still need to rest,and if I have to work, I’ll do that at my own pace. I’m not going back to work fully. You will see that my gait is not really smooth.For now, I’m using a walking stick and that is going to take some time. I will be taking everything atmy own pace, until I get back to the normal Ngozi Nwosu,” she noted.
Sounding a word of advice to hercolleagues in the movie industry, Nwosu said, “They should always take time out to do medical checkups. Since the time I got sick, there are many people that have dropped dead. But I am still alive, I went through death and I am still alive.”
On her relationship with fellow actors, she has this to say, “I don’t have friends in the industry. When you are rich they are your friends, but when you are not, they leave you. Most of them are a flash in the pan so I can’t keep them.”
Looking forward to the future with bright expectations, Nwosu is already dreaming big, hoping toregain national prominence. “I wish for myself the best things oflife. In fact I just wish someone can come and park the latest carin my house, and build a house for me. I don’t want my case to be like that of the Nigerian flag designer, Taiwo Akinkunmi, who almost died before they recognised him,” she noted.

An Ikeja Magistrate Court, yesterday, ordered that a 55- oldwoman, Rose Nwachuwku be remanded in police custody for allegedly running an unlawful orphanage home.
Magistrate Mrs Eniola Fabamwo, ordered that she should be remanded till Monday when the case will be heard by the appropriate court.

The defendant who was arraigned before Magistrate Fabamwo, is facing a single charge of unlawful orphanage,preferred against her by the Police.
The Police prosecutor, ASP Barth Nwokoye, said that Nwachuwku committed the alleged offence between January 2011 and August17, 2013 at 30/32, Prince Adebambo street, in Egbeda area of Lagos.
He told the court that the defendant being a person that was not authorised by the law to run an orphanage home, unlawfullyacquired and had in her possession, 27 children of differentages.
According to the prosecutor, the offence committed is punishable under section 183 of the child rights law of Lagos Nigeria 2007.
However, when the charge was read to the defendant, she pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate ordered that she be remanded in police custody untilAugust 26,2013, for the appropriate court to handle it.

"Let it happen," they toldhim. Jonah was disheartened. Hardly had he left the city when the skies began to change color and looked as if they were on fire. The people were filled with fear by this sight. They recalled the destruction of the people of 'Ad, Thamud and Noah. Was theirs to be a similar fate? Slowly faith penetrated their hearts. They all gathered on the mountain and started to beseech Allah for His mercy and forgiveness. The mountains echoed with their cries.It was a momentous hour, filled with sincere repentance.
Allah removed His wrath and showered His blessings upon themonce again. When the threateningstorm was lifted, they prayed forthe return of Jonah so that he could guide them.
Meanwhile, Jonah had boarded a small ship in the company of otherpassengers. It sailed all day in calm waters with a good wind blowing at the sails. When night came, the sea suddenly changed. A horrible storm blew as if it weregoing to split the ship into pieces. The waves looked wild. They rose up as high as mountains then plunged down like valleys, tossing the ship and sweeping over the deck.
Behind the ship, a large whale was splitting the water and opening its mouth. A command hadbeen issued from Almighty Allah toone of the greatest whales of the sea to surface. It obeyed. Thewhale hurried to the surface of the sea and followed the ship as it had been commanded.
The tempest continued and the chief crewman asked the crew to lighten the ship's heavy load. Theythrew their baggage overboard, but this was not enough. Their safety lay in reducing the weight further, so they decided among themselves to lighten their load by removing at least one person.
The captain directed: We will makelots with all of the travelers' names. The one whose name is drawn will be thrown into the sea." Jonah knew this was one of the seamen's traditions when facing a tempest. It was a strange polytheistic tradition, butit was practiced at that time. Jonah's affliction and crisis began.
Here was the prophet, subjected to polytheistic rules that considered the sea and the wind to have gods that riot. The captain had to please these gods.Jonah reluctantly participated in the lot, and his name was added to the other travelers' names. The lot was drawn and "Jonah" appeared.
Since they knew him to be the most honorable among them, theydid not wish to throw him into the angry sea. Therefore, they decided to draw a second lot. Again Jonah's name was drawn. They gave him a final chance and drew a third lot. Unfortunately for Jonah, his name came up again.
Jonah realized that Allah's hand was in all this, for he had abandoned his mission without Allah's consent. The matter was over, and it was decided that Jonah should throw himself into the water. Jonah stood at the edge of the ship looking at the furious sea. It was night and there was no moon. The stars were hidden behind a black fog. But before he could be thrown overboard, Jonah kept mentioningAllah's name as he jumped into the raging sea and disappeared beneath the huge waves.
The whale found Jonah floating onthe waves before it. It swallowed Jonah into its furious stomach and shut its ivory teeth on him asif they were white bolts locking the door of his prison. The whale dived to the bottom of the sea, the sea that runs in the abyss of darkness....TO BE CONTINUED

Five men gang-raped a woman photographer in India’s financial hub Mumbai, police said Friday, fuelling protests and stirring memories of a similar attack last December in New Delhi.
The attack took place on Thursday evening in an upmarket district of central Mumbai as the 23-year-old woman and a male colleague were taking photos of old buildings for a magazine.
The pair were approached by members of the gang and told they should not be there. The manwas then tied up with a belt while the woman was raped repeatedly nearby, Mumbai’s police commissioner Satyapal Singh told reporters.
“It is a shameful and extremely disturbing event,” he said.
One man in his early 20s has been arrested while the hunt is on for his four alleged accomplices, who have been identified by police. Sketches of the accused have been released.
The victim, reportedly an intern, isundergoing treatment at Mumbai’sJaslok Hospital and preliminary reports suggest multiple internal injuries, a police officer told AFP. A hospital statement said she was “stable”.
The attack, which shocked a city seen as far safer for women than the capital, happened in an abandoned mill compound next to an area of upscale apartment blocks, shops and restaurants.
On Friday, police stood watch in forested patches while others walked through overgrown grass around the cordoned-off crime scene, where greenery has crept over the walls of the derelict structure.
“We are 100 percent confident of cracking the case,” Singh said, adding that 20 police teams have been formed as part of the investigation.
“We will gather all the clinching evidence and aim to get the maximum punishment, which we hope will be done through a fast-track court.”
The incident comes eight months after another 23-year-old woman was gang-raped by five men in a moving bus in New Delhi, while her male companion was beaten up. She died two weeks later from severe injuries.
A trial is in in its final stages in that case, which sparked massive protests and led to a tougher anti-rape law.
The new measures increased punishment for sex offenders, which now include the death penalty if a victim dies, and broadened the definition of sexual assault.
Sex crimes have continued across India since the December 16 gang-rape, and Thursday’s attack once again captured the attentionof the media and public.
“Women need to be vigilant and aware of themselves and the surroundings. There is no solution, no cure,” Swati Pillai, who works insouth Mumbai with an advertising firm, told AFP.
Business manager and mother Manjiri Jamadagni said the incidentwas “very disturbing”.
“Bombay was always safe but in recent years it’s been changing. It’s not the same,” she said, using Mumbai’s former name.
The city council came under fire in May for a proposal to ban lingerie-clad mannequin dummies in shops and markets for fear they could encourage sex crime.
Thursday’s attack sparked anger on social media websites, and journalist groups protested in Mumbai on Friday afternoon, with many holding signs which read “Mumbai: India’s New Rape Capital” and “Bring Rapists To Book!”.
India’s parliament in New Delhi also erupted in anger.
India’s Law Minister Kapil Sibal said sex assaults must be dealt with “inthe most severe fashion”.
“This country cannot afford to have our women (and) children insecure in the hands of those who attack them,” he told reporters.

According to a story by Punch,five-year-old girl, Oluwaseun Ogungbemile,was abducted at the Redemption Camp of the Redeemed Christian Church of God,on Friday August 9th.
It was learnt that the girl, in company with her parents, had gone to the camp at Kilometre 46 on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, to attend the one-week annual convention of the church that ended on Sunday. The girl, who is the youngest child of her parents, was last seen playing with two of her cousins on Friday, August 9
The victim’s aunt, Omotade Odunowo, told our correspondent that the matter had been reported to the police.
She said, “She (Oluwaseun) was staying at a rented chalet in the camp along with her parents. Around 10am on that day, she was seen with two of her younger cousins, who are between the ages of two and three.
“After sometime, we did not see her again. Due to the young ages of the little children who were with her at the time of her disappearance, we have not been able to know what happened exactly.”
Odunowo said all efforts to tracethe victim’s whereabouts proved abortive and the family believed that she had been abducted.
She said the family had searched every nook and cranny of the camp and reported to the relevant authorities in RCCG, all to no avail.
She added that no one had called the family to demand a ransom.
Odunowo said, “We have been traumatised since then and cannot wait for the safe return of our daughter back home. We shall therefore be extremely grateful to receive any information that may lead to ourreunion with Oluwaseun. She is adorable, smart and talks a lot.”
She said the girl’s parents had not been alright since the incident. She said the mother had refused to go back to work since her daughter went missing.
She said, “Oluwaseun’s mother has not left the Redemption Camp since the incident occurred. She is still hoping that the person that took her away would bring her back.”
When contacted on the telephone, the state police command’s Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident to our correspondent, adding that the matter was being investigated at the Redemption Camp Police Station.

Twenty political parties de-registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, have vowed to take part in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State and the Senatorial election in Ekiti State.
The parties under the aegis of Coalition of Concerned Political Parties,CCPP, also wants the Commission’s Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, sacked.
Speaking with newsmen, National Chairman of Peoples Progressive Party,PPP, Engr. Damian Ogbonna,on behalf of the coalition accused Professor Jega of disrespecting court ruling over the de-registration matter.
“We state for the avoidance of doubt that we have lost faith in Professor Attahiru Jega asan unbiased umpire in the political process. Having publicly exhibited his partiality and disdain against many political parties in the country, we believe he is no longer in aposition to honourably be in charge of elections where the same parties are participants” he said.
“Accordingly, we demand that Jega be dismissed immediately as the chairman of INEC.”
According to him, by its ruling on the suit filed by Fresh Democratic Party; the court has ousted the powers of the Commission to deregister political parties.
Ogbonna lamented that the action of INEC had led to the mass defection of their members who became frustrated.
The parties further threatened that they would contest in the Anambra and Ekiti elections, saying that if they are disallowed from participating, the Commission should get ready for a legal tussle.
“If they refuse to obey the law as it is, then we will enforce it by ourselvesand make sure that any election held by the Commission without adhering to the latest court judgement is declared null and void.”
The parties that signed the statement include, Peoples Progressive Party,National Advance Party, New Democrat, Peoples Redemption Party, People’sSalvation Party, Action Party of Nigeria, African Liberation Party.
Others are, Progressive Action Party, Movement for Democracy and Justice,National Action Council, Better Nigeria People’s Party, National Conscience Party, African Political System, Justice Party, Change Advocacy Party, Community Party of Nigeria, and Liberal Democratic Party of Nigeria
Also speaking, Chairman of PAC, Mr. Charles Nwodo warned that having been defeated in the high court,INEC is bound by law not toexclude the parties from elections.
He insisted that the Commission had no excuse not to have obeedy the ruling, since funding for the elections has never been a challenge which thecountry cannot meet.
Nwodo further accused INEC of having a secret agenda.
Reacting, Jega’s spokesman, Mr. Kayode Idowu said, “they are entitled to their own opinion which is difficult to engage with objectively. Asfor contesting in subsequent elections, the recent court judgement is specific in its reliefs, that is, regarding a particular party; and that is even being appealed.”

The Special Assistant to Benue State Governor on Security, Patrick Gwar, on Thursday, slumped and died in the Government House, Makurdi, the state capital.
He died at about 2pm in the waiting room of the Office of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prof. Saint Gbilekaa, after attending a meeting of the Forum of the Governor’s Aides.
Sources say the deceased complained of hard breathing, but gave up before help could reach him.
The spokesman of the forum, Comrade Samuel Adzegeh, described him as a workaholic and a gentleman who was always keen about the affairs of the forum.
He said the deceased would be greatly missed for his loyalty and dedication to the Governorand his duty.
Prof. Gbilekaa described the late Gwar as an easy-going man, who loved his job and did it with passion.
The Chief of Staff prayed God to console his family.
In a related development, Sule Udi Ringim, the DeputySpeaker of Jigawa State House of Assembly is dead.
The lawmaker died in a caraccident, Thursday evening, on his way to Ringim from Kano.
He will be buried today in Ringim in line with Islamic rites.

DOLPHINS 1-2 SHARKS
The Blue Angels have garnered 10points from possible 12 out of their last four matches to march to 12th on the table with 33 points from 25 matches as against the relegation zone the club had flirted all season.

Bayelsa United have gone goal berserk in the last two home games having scored seven goals and conceding only one in victories over El Kanemi Warriors and Akwa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.
Goals from Jafar Buhari who notched two goals and one each from Gindo Abdoulaye and Uche Ihuarulam handed important threepoints to coach Ladan Bosso led lads. Mfon Udoh's solitary strike for the Uyo side only served as a consolation.

The goal had come off a free kick taken by Femi Oladapo just outside the box.

ABS were shorn of their seven regular players prior to the trip to Kano and they deservedly lost 0-3 to the league's reigning champions.

Inspirational midfielder Rabiu Ali took the game beyond their opponents with the third goal in the 83rd minute. Ali has scored eight goals in the league this season.

The Nigerian Military Special Operation Unit, Mubi Battalion, Adamawa, on Tuesday said it killed two notorious Boko Haram commanders during a gunfire exchange.
Lt. Col. Beyidi Martins, the Commanding Officer, Operation, told newsmen in Mubi.
Martins said the unit was making a successful progress in containing the activities of the sect and other miscreants that terrorised the state.
“Two notorious Boko Haram field commanders, Abubakar Zakaria Ya’u and Muhammed Bama, declared wanted, had been killed by the special operation unit, Mubi,” Martins said.
He said the operation that led to the killing of the two commanders was successfully carried out following collective effort by the military, members of the State Security Service (SSS) and other security operatives.
Martins, who commended the support and cooperation given by the people of the area, said the activities of the sect was weakened in the state.
“On July 30, the unit received a call from some good Samaritans that there was an attack going on at a Mubi Bureau de Change, where some armed miscreants invaded the area.
“On arrival, the special operation unit personnel cordoned the area. Sighting the army, the terrorists opened fire on them.
“And during the exchange, six suspects were arrested while four escaped with degree of injuries, and later, their corpses were found.”
He said during the operations, four Russian made AK47, 500 live ammunition, N3 million and 5.4 million CFA were recovered.
The commander said that the money would be returned to the owners.
He said the Federal Government had awarded contract for the building of Army barrack in Mubi aspart of efforts to strengthen security operation in the area.

Kidnappers of three primary school teachers in Edo State have further slashed the ransom placed on them to a total of N7.5 million,Vanguard gathered, Monday, in Benin
It would be recalled that the teachers, Patience Osadolor, Momodu Aisha and Patience Oroghene, were abducted at gunpoint, in Orhogbua Primary School, Ekenwan village, during school hours about two weeks ago.
The kidnappers had initially placed a ransom sum of N60 million on the three women but later reduced it to N5 million each last week.
Sources at the Edo State chapterof the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, said the kidnappers communicated their resolve to drop the ransom from N5 million each to N2.5 million to the husbandof one of the kidnapped women.
The Edo NUT leader said there wasconcern over the safety of the women as one of their husbands informed that his wife was weeping profusely when she was made to speak with him on phone, begging him to raise the money sothat she would not lose her life....

•Deny harbouring Boko Haram members
Operators of Kara abattoir and cattle market,Isheri, under bridge, Berger area in Ifo local government area of Ogun State, have said that the arrest of one of the fleeing Boko Haram members by Police in the state was facilitated by them.
They said the police acted on their tip off which led to the eventual arrest of the Boko Haram member who fled from Maiduguri to Ogun state.
Reacting to a report that a Boko Haram member was being harboured in the market , the authorities of the market described the allegation as a mere speculation.
In a press statement signed by Seriki Nkara, Chief Ganiyu Babalola and Seriki Hausa and Deputy Chairman of the market BadamosiSokoto made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, yesterday, the opearators said they have no relationship in any manner with Boko Haram or any insurgent group.
Ogun state Police have arrested one suspected Boko Haram who fled the beleaguered Maiduguri to Ogun state three weeks ago in the area.
Reacting to the arrest of the suspect in the market, the operators said “the truth is that as in every successful market, all and sundry attend everyday for the purpose of buying and selling and our own market is not an exception and no market has anycontrol over those that come to buy and sell in the market.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Friday arrested a 46-year-old bricklayer from Anambra, who attempted to smuggle 2.07kg of cocaine into the country.
A statement by the Spokesman of the NDLEA, Mr Mitchell Ofoyeju, saidthe suspect was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, with 83 wraps of substance that had tested positive to cocaine.
“He was detected with the help ofscanning machines during the screening of passengers on an Asky Airline flight from Brazil.’’
Ofoyeju said the suspect was recruited by a drug cartel in Braziland when arrested excreted one of the highest quantity of cocaine ingested at a time so far this year.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that drug barons now have agents who move from village to village in search of drug mules.
“They have several antics, which include promise of better job opportunities abroad. The case is under investigation.”
Ofoyeju quoted the suspect, a bricklayer at Alor Village in Anambra, as saying he was lured to sell family land in order to travel abroad in search of job opportunities.
“I got to Brazil on July 10 and all attempts to get a job was unsuccessful. That was when they sold the idea of drug trafficking tome.
“Initially I objected but when therewas no other option, I succumbed. They made me to swallow 83 wraps of cocaine which was detected by NDLEA officers,” he said.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a woman
who allegedly defiled a two-and-a half-year-old girl in Ilupeju area
of Lagos.
The suspect, identified as Funmi, is a teacher in an undisclosed
nursery and primary school around Ilupeju.
Sources revealed that Funmi allegedly inserted a fork into the little
girl’s private part.
It was gathered that the bubble burst after the toddler arrived
home crying. In an attempt to pacify her, her mother reportedly
took her to the bathroom for a shower. But immediately she
reached out to wash the baby’s private part, the kindergarten baby
reportedly wailed.
The curious mother was said to have taken a closer look at her
child but could not conclude what the problem was, until the
child revealed the alleged deed by her teacher in school.
The mother was said to have reported the case to the police, and
the school’s management was informed. But all the teachers
reportedly denied, saying the child might not know what she was
talking about.
To ascertain the toddler’s claim, all the teachers in the school
were said to have been paraded before the child to identify the
culprit, in the process of which she pointed at Funmi, following
which she was arrested.
Police sources hinted that the case was, Wednesday, charged to a
special court after the medical test conducted on the child showed
that her hymen had been broken.
However, Funmi denied the allegation. In her statement to the
Police, she claimed to be oblivious of the allegation.
