the Canada you are hyping, My bro recently got his Canadian Visa approved. He declined it. Cos he's waiting for his German Visa approval instead.

From a stand point, if not for Cana, Canada and the UK ain't a place to migrate to. That's why the OP mentioned people moving from the former to the latter and vice versa
hope your bro got his German visa now?

Leave her here and be sending money.

Guys please let's be real here, I know some people have been dreaming of going to USA since day 1 but that one no mean say you no go get sense drop that whole 1 million just to go to the USA where they will tax you worldwide no matter where you live, where the gun violence, racial tension, police injustice against black people is crazy as hell. Out of that 1 million buy a Portuguese, Greece or Latvian golden permanent residence visa that puts you on a path to EU citizenship for half the price, then add a Carribbean passport join am, or go establish a business in Serbia and get citizenship by merit there. A Us citizenship is not good for business men but no you guys that have been brainwashed by Hollywood that usa is the best country in the world will not have sense.

You think common sense is common grin

My cousin who just turned 18 has been billed since the first week he landed Europe. The billing didn't stopped until he changed his whatsapp number. This is a boy that is not working, not yet studying (waiting for next admission intake), and under my care.

The younger brother who is 14 has not been billed yet, but that one get luck. He is too young to have billers before he left Nigeria.

Many times, billers use a strategy called ''try your luck''. They will just throw a format to you, and its up to you to reject it. Its like how a market woman will give you a random price, and it is up to you to reject it, and haggle it down to your price range.
bro did your cousins enter through family reunification

I remember when I was doing the coding for my final year project. My supervisor stressed me so much. Do this do that try this model do this do that. At the end of it all he was like I really like this project and the results we have and I will send it for publishing. I thought he was joking. Apparently he did and this week, news arrived from the organization that the paper was accepted shocked shocked shocked. Like I used this masters just as a means of escaping from Nigeria. I would have never expected to have an IEEE published paper out of it. Life has a way of surprising you.
Congratulations bro

Yes, to do this, you have to delete the application made for Lagos. Once you delete it, then you will be able to apply for Abuja. If you have submitted that of Lagos, then it's not possible to delete it again, you will have to wait for 15 days post creation date when it will be automatically deleted from their system.

I submitted my document on Tuesday, I made the booking on Monday. I think you can get a next day appointment in Abuja except if things have changed.
Wow mrphysics I still remember your thread back then

No my first job out of school when I was still a marine engineer was working in Europe in Italy precisely travelled and didn’t see the hype and got back to Nigeria. This was back in 2019 as Nigeria wasn’t as bad as today but as Nigeria got worst over the years I needed to escape. Europe was out of it. I never fancied any of the countries. My plan was the USA and moving to the USA from Nigeria was very hard so I two options came up that will enable that move long term and that’s how I ended up in chile. I don’t even know if I want to move from Chile Anymore as I can get everything I want in life here.
WowBro what did your family say when you came back from Italy to Nigeria

I wanted to write a long note explaining Nigeria's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2010 vs 2024 compared to Canada in the same years, but I deleted it all—why bother? Some people’s minds are already made up, even when facts are presented.

But hey, what do I know? Keep in mind, Canada isn’t heaven—it has its own challenges and issues. Still, truth be told, with the way things are currently going in Nigeria, it could take 30 years to fix just 8 years of Buhari’s government, not even counting the failures of previous governments.

As sad as it is, Nigeria will likely never be great in our lifetime. I’m speaking from facts, not emotions—I have the numbers to back it up.

Nigeria’s 5-year ban issue is not just a “so what” situation. But again, what do I know? Even if I provide facts, links, articles, and personal research about PPP (Purchasing Power Parity), GDP, and GDP per capita (PPP) for Nigeria vs Canada from 2010 to 2024, I’m still seen as a clown who doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Most people won’t even read it, so why bother?

These are the same people who will pay a Facebook visa agent 5 million naira for a visitor’s visa—hahaha. They can’t even read the actual process of applying for a visitor’s visa, and they don’t have the real Proof of Funds (POF).
but I feel like as long as he doesn't apply directly to Canada unless he is obsessed with Canada, he can still leave Nigeria to other countries as long as he doesn't give up. He can still Japa to other countries not necessarily Canada though. But I have seen some people who were deported from Canada gone back to Canada for visit after serving their ban

I will take the money and invest wisely with it, then get An EU golden visa to have access to the Schengen zone and buy a Carribbean passport together which is not up to 2 million dollars I won't even go the USA with that money I don't want uncle Sam to take out of it.

This week, I’m presenting my master’s thesis and with that, I’m officially done with my degree. I’ll be graduating with distinction. But to be honest, I’m still trying to figure out what comes next.

When I first came to Chile, I never planned to stay. My intention was to use it as a stepping stone maybe apply for Canada’s Express Entry, petition for a U.S. green card, or move to Europe. But somewhere along the way, Chile surprised me and in so many ways, it shaped me.

Chile made me a man.

If someone had told me back when I was still in Nigeria, uncertain and struggling that by 2025 I’d be driving a 2025 model car, I would’ve laughed in disbelief. If someone had told me that I’d be standing on my own two feet, providing for myself, supporting my mother and sisters I would have said it was impossible.

But Chile made it possible.

I’m deeply grateful to this country. Grateful for the community I’ve found, the friends I’ve made, and the love I’ve received. My girlfriend, my circle, the people who have become like family even though I’m thousands of miles from home, I’ve never truly felt alone.

Here in my little town in Chile, I’ve met people from all over the world. People I can genuinely call friends. People who have helped shape this chapter of my life into something I will always carry with pride.

No matter where life takes me next. Chile will always be a part of me.
Nice, Congratulations,so after Chile where next?

No offense bro.
90% of the population speak and understand English. Though speaking and understanding Icelandic has it's advantages.

There are job prospects. Cost and standard of living is quite high, though the high earning potential balances out everything.

And yes you can definitely combine schooling with working. However, as a student, you're only entitled to 20hrs per week to work.
Iceland ke, Una no dey fear the cold? How would you manage with the weather.

TravelRe: At 45, Is It A Right Choice To Migrate To Canada? by hammed71(m): 7:11pm On Apr 25, 2025
maternal:
I can't think of a Nigerian who grew up in Nigeria, that moved back full-time. 99% of the time it's all talk. The downgrade of the quality of life is too great. Then again, what's your definition of moving back ? Building a house in the village only to comeback 2 weeks out of the year isn't coming back. The poverty is so great, that it's not a familiar environment anymore. It's actually sad and heart breaking.
yeah but we can't all forget our home like that. We just have to build Africa or else the disrespect and the racism will be too much
TravelRe: At 45, Is It A Right Choice To Migrate To Canada? by hammed71(m): 7:17am On Apr 25, 2025
Gerrard59:
I remember when I challenged you regarding the bold in one of the migration threads that graced the FP. Looking back, I feel so bad for it, and I apologise. Ignorance no good. I am glad I am even young in the game. Anything above 35 will be hard for the person to integrate and truly enjoy the experience. For those who are in that age range, they should focus squarely on what took them there, say raising money or getting the education/experience. As for insecurity, there are nearby West African countries that are safer than Nigeria. This is one of the major reasons I push/wish/want prosperous and functioning Black dominated countries.

Nothing beats being in a place where the majority look like you, speak like you, eat like you et al. The adventure I have in has been good, but the long term will be living in a place where the majority look like me and contributing my quota to societal development using what I have learnt here.
God bless you
