So are you beautiful too bcus most igbo girls are
y are most benin and yoruba girls not beautiful? inferiority complex! The way u guys go on sometimes, i feel we should pursue all the igbo women to marry all of u and then we go to sudan and kenya to marry very dark skinned women that will produce dark skinned igbo children. That way, u will stop disturbing us. U dont like me and i dont like u, so no need for that type of relations. |

Ngozi123: I meant my ancestors, who have always been Igbos, once lived under the Benin Empire but then crossed the River Niger to where they are now. That's all I know... If you have a contradictory story then please feel free to say it. Wat prove do u have of this? So Benin was originally igbo is that wat u are saying? Becos that is the only way Benin people can be speaking igbo crossing to Onitsha and answering igbo names. |

Ngozi123: I agree that these people, including my ancestors, once lived under the Benin Empire. I've haven't disputed this fact. I wouldnt consider slave raids as living under Benin Empire. They never crossed the River Niger. The only people that did were the Anioma. Benin Kingdom was powerful in 15 centry due to trade with portugese and later British. Weapons exchanged for slaves and palm oil. If u have any info, pls share, in case am missing something here. |

cheruv: Conquer the whole Nigeria Nwanne jiri nwayo nātu asi bikō The Bini were already in a state of decline long before the Brits buried them in 1897. The Anioma had already defeated them in the great Ubulu war of 1755 and expelled them from Anioma, ending their almost two centuries of occupying Anioma land. . I'd say the power the British checked and destroyed were the Aro to the East... Had the Brits not come, Arochukwu would've conquered the SE&SS even as far East as Cameroon This is wat most people miss wen discussing the history of Bini, Aro, Oyo and Asanti, is that they all became powerful due to trade with the British in palm oil and predominantly slaves. Thus, alot ammunition and swords were provided by either the British or Portuguese. They ony clashed with the Brits wen the brits decided to make their way in land and control all the commnuities, in otherwords fazing out the middle man. Bini Aro were greatly strengthened by the British for the purpose of slavery and wen the British stopped providing them weapons and money they declined. |

I am very sorry but i must add that, Nnamdi Azikiwe is a typical fool that would sell his own mother, so as to be liked by people that will never like him.
He gave everything to be liked, but till this day the people he sold the entire Igbo people to dont remember he existed. He died in poverty.
Go and see the mausoleum of First Presidents in Ghana and elsewhere, then take a look at Nnamdi Azikiwe Burial place.
Even with all GEJ did, the site looks disgusting.
Moral of the story is, never sell ur birth-right to anybody. Even God will not appreciate that, becos u handed over wat he intended 4 u to someone that he did not intend to have it, becos they will use it for evil.
Where is Nnamdi Azikiwe mausoleum? smh! |

He was known as the Eze Nri. He was the only person with the title Eze at the time. Other titles were Obi which means palace. Nnamdi Azikiwe acknowledged the Obi of Onitsha but did not talk about Eze Nri in his speech becos it did not support wateva point he was trying to make. |

Full list of West African Kingdoms
The Nok Civilization is considered to be one of the most advanced ancient sub-Saharan civilizations in African history. Beginning some time around 1500 BCE, it was largely concentrated in what is now Nigeria but produced some of the first sub-Saharan iron smelting and terracotta architecture. Mysteriously died out around 200 CE.
The Kingdom of Nri (1043–1911) was the West African medieval state of the Nri-Igbo, a subgroup of the Igbo people, and is the oldest kingdom in Nigeria. The Kingdom of Nri was unusual in the history of world government in that its leader exercised no military power over his subjects. The kingdom existed as a sphere of religious and political influence over much of Igboland, and was administered by a priest-king called the eze Nri. The eze Nri managed trade and diplomacy on behalf of the Igbo people, and was the possessor of divine authority in religious matters.
The Oyo Empire (1400–1895) was a West African empire of what is today western Nigeria. The empire was established by the Yoruba in the 15th century and grew to become one of the largest West African states. It rose to preeminence through wealth gained from trade and its possession of a powerful cavalry. The Oyo Empire was the most politically important state in the region from the mid-17th to the late 18th century, holding sway not only over other Yoruba states, but also over the Fon kingdom of Dahomey (located in the state now known as the Republic of Benin).
Benin Empire (1440–1897), a pre-colonial African state of modern Nigeria.
Kaabu Empire (1537–1867), a Mandinka Kingdom of Senegambia (centered on modern northeastern Guinea-Bissau but extending into Casamance, Senegal) that rose to prominence in the region thanks to its origins as a former province of the Mali Empire. After the decline of the Mali Empire, Kaabu became an independent kingdom.
Aro Confederacy (1690–1902), a trading union orchestrated by the Igbo subgroup, the Aro people, centered in Arochukwu in present-day Southeastern Nigeria. Bonoman (11th Century–19th Century) - Earliest known Akan state. Gold trading and Kola nut trading with Northern Neighbors brought wealth and prosperity to Akan creators of this state.. Culture influenced much of modern Akan culture.
Ashanti Empire (1701–1894), a pre-colonial Akan West African state of what is now the Ashanti Region in Ghana. The empire stretched from central Ghana to present day Togo and Côte d'Ivoire, bordered by the Dagomba kingdom to the north and Dahomey to the east. Today, the Ashanti monarchy continues as one of the constitutionally protected, sub-national traditional states within the Republic of Ghana.
Various states by Akan people (11th Century -19th Century)
Kong Empire (1710–1898) centered in north eastern Côte d'Ivoire that also encompassed much of present-day Burkina Faso.
Bamana Empire (1712–1896) based at Ségou, now in Mali. It was ruled by the Kulubali or Coulibaly dynasty established circa 1640 by Fa Sine also known as Biton-si-u. The empire existed as a centralized state from 1712 to the 1861 invasion of Toucouleur conqueror El Hadj Umar Tall.
Sokoto Caliphate (1804–1903), an Islamic empire in Nigeria, led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’adu Abubakar. Founded during the Fulani Jihad in the early 19th century, it was one of the most powerful empires in sub-Saharan Africa prior to European conquest and colonization. The caliphate remained extant through the colonial period and afterwards, though with reduced power.
Wassoulou Empire (1878–1898), a short-lived empire of built from the conquests of Dyula ruler Samori Ture and destroyed by the French colonial army. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_empiresU can clearly see that besides Nri Kingdom that started in the 9th century, others are product of Either western colonialism or Arab colonialism and slave trade. Others are all 15th century creation besides Nri Kingdom. Igbo bronze work is the oldest in west africa and some of it are on display at the British Museum and they all date back to the 9th century period of Nri Kingdom. Many of it were for worship and symbolism of political power. here is a link to some found in Igbo Ukwu. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Igbo+ukwu&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj01b_MmaTRAhUlB8AKHdVUCoQQ_AUICCgB&biw=1777&bih=827#imgrc=_

Ngozi123 Take note the Bini and Igala kingdoms alongside the Oyo Empire, Ashanti Empire and Aro Confederation were greatly aided by the British. They provided platform that enabled slave trade to thrive in west Africa. They are all 15th century kingdoms that were deeply involved in the transatlantic slave raids and trade. |

Ngozi123 Ndiigbo have a glorious history that is widely acknowledged even globally, but not celebrated.
I guess it is part of the consequence of the Civil War and mind u, that war was more about the US, UK oil interest and not the Hausa or Yoruba benefactor. Igbos were up against the global powers who had just concluded a world war two decades earlier. So u can understand y things went the way they did.
At lot of the weapons developed for the second world war were handed to Nigeria to be used to deliver the oil wealth of the South East to mainly western oil companies. i.e BP, Shell, Chevron and co.
Before then, Igbos are not known or recorded as losing any war. Even the Biafra War was deemed no Victor or Vanquished by Gowon himself becos in all honesty Nigeria never won, despite international help, watch the documentary on youtube.
Alot of Igbo people dont know they are igbo or are intimidated into denying their heritage and it starts from not knowing their history or language becos their parents did not emphasise that or teach them. |

Ngozi123: Have you got any sources for this? It's a very interesting school of thought and I'd like to look further into it. However, it does seem a bit odd that these traders supposedly carried the kingship to Benin but could not do the same in other towns/villages that do not have kingdoms on their way. Find a library and borrow this book, it is very good. Onwuejeogwu, M. Angulu (1981). An Igbo civilization: Nri kingdom & hegemony. Ethnographica. ISBN 978-123-105-X. The trade of the Igbos referred to as Anioma were mainly fishing and Agricultural produce(live stock). They conducted most of their activities on the River Niger, canoeing to and back with meat and fish. They fished on the River Niger and Farmed(hunt) in present day Anioma. Consequently many had settled there, as u find igbos settling in places like Lagos and Abuja and elsewhere. The difference is that it was a virgin land and uninhabited. The Anioma igbos have their roots in Onitsha, Ogbaru and Anambra West. These local government had an Established Kingship that were under the Nri Kingdom sphere of religious and political influence (over a third of Igboland) and was administered by a priest-king called as an Eze Nri. The Eze Nri managed trade and diplomacy on behalf of the Nri people, and possessed divine authority in religious matters. Nri expanded through converts gaining neighboring communities' allegiance, not by force. Nri's culture permanently influenced the Northern and Western Igbo, especially through religion and taboos. British colonialism, the Atlantic slave trade and the rise of the Bini and Igala kingdoms contributed to the decline of the Nri Kingdom. The Nri Kingdom is going through a cultural revival. |

Ngozi123: If, and that's a big if, I did have any Bini blood in me then it'll be so minuscule that it wouldn't really count. I consider myself fully Igbo. There are other schools of thought, that argue that, the Oba of Bini has his roots in Nri. (Eze Nri) Nri Kingdom is the oldest in west Africa and it is argued that kingship was carried west by igbo traders and farmers that crossed the River Niger. That is how Benin Kingdom started. The word Oba is borrowed from the igbo word Obi which actually means Palace. |

Cant u see that various other local government in Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Anambra and beyond have their various local Chiefs? How will u grow the Bini Empire under the Edoid claims wen others have their own monarchy? Who listens to the Bini local Chief called Oba, aside of the Bini local government people. I take this opportunity to extend my greeting to the very relevant Obi Nduka Ezeagwuna II Crowned 20th Obi Of Issele-uku. Long Live the King. |

laudate: If Nigeria is a zoo, then are you one of the animals living in it? You keep digressing and jumping from pillar to post clutching at straws by trying to link unrelated incidents together, in an illogical manner. Wake up bro'.
If you need to split hairs about the kind of laws that govern Nigeria, I suggest that you enrol for a law degree in any of the universities around here. I am not ready to school you on the law and their different applications, and the jurisdictions where they can be applied.
Secondly, this nation is not under martial law. There is nothing like Marshal law as you put it, so kindly go online and check for the correct terminology of words and their meaning, before you start throwing them around.
Now back to the facts of the case. Your Eze Nd'Igbo of Akure erred by committing a grievous offence against the cultural/traditional laws of the host community, where he resided. Any wise man would back track, rescind his actions and offer an apology, when confronted with the error of his ways. Instead, he chose to be headstrong and confrontational. And punishment was meted out to him accordingly. Kindly deal with it, instead of writing another long epistle full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. Nigeria is not a Zoo?
