No fewer than 100 hundred event vendors across the SouthWest region will converge in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital for an exhibition tagged: “My Grand Eventp”.

My Grand Event is an exhibition platform for all event vendors to leverage in evaluating and diagnosing the ailments plaguing their businesses, while getting solutions from industry experts.

The convener of the event, Taiyese Ebunlomo while briefing journalists on the 4th edition of the exhibition in Abeokuta, disclosed that, caterers, event planners, makeup artists, bands, decorators and DJs among others across the SouthWest region are billed to attend the event.

Taiyese noted that the event will also feature an exhibition of products and services by hundreds of vendors from across the State.

“My grand event is an exhibition set up to showcase array of vendors in the event industry in Ogun State as well as serve as a veritable platform for attendees to interact and network and do business.
The event, themed: “My Grand Event Season 4.0: The Rebirth”, will also feature an exhibition of products and Services by hundreds of vendors from across the State.

“My grand event was conceived out of the curiosity to bring value to event vendors in Ogun State as well as build small scale enterprises in order to compete favourably with their counterparts in Lagos, Oyo State and across Nigeria.

“As players in the informal sector, we believe the informal sector is essential for economic growth. It is a key provider of jobs and income in emerging economies. But the crisis caused by the pandemic has had a significant impact on these economies.

“The informal sector does act as a safety net for the formal economy, thus allowing the unemployed and unemployable to find work or start their own businesses, boosting income and alleviating poverty.
“The informal economy has witnessed a massive expansion in the last two decades in Ogun State and by extension Nigeria and the root causes of this include elements relating to the economic context in the country, decreasing levels of market regulation, weak policy frameworks and socio-demographic drivers such as population growth, urbanisation, rise in unemployment, widening inequality between the rich and poor, low-level education, including poverty.

“To achieve an efficient informal sector where vendors in Ogun State can thrive, there is a need for government to embark on series of measures, interventions and support, such as grants, soft loans with less interest to encourage the formalization of our businesses to sustain economic growth and development.

“We dare say the informal sector is too large and important to be ignored, concerted effort to identify and protect them is crucial for sustainability and economic development”, Taiyese said.

In my university days I was known for creating creative event ideas and executing the ideas perfectly and people always say this guy must be a lagos boy and every time I tell them I’m from Ìbàdàn they find it hard to believe because Ìbàdàn was only know for brown roofs and it hurts so bad.

After graduating I had only one plan and the plan was to go into events full time after having a successful event career in school but I knew the world outside school was going to be a different ball game and I will be needing a lot of publicity to push my brand, which I could not afford so I decided to create a publicity tool for myself by myself like the popular saying ‘’if there is no door of opportunity, build one’

So I started blingz magazine for two reasons, for my event business publicity and to showcase the city, to make them know what is shining in Ìbàdàn apart from the brown roof, that’s where the name Blingz came from, to show the world what is blinging in Ìbàdàn.

Earlier today, December 18 2021, 8 members of Ogun Twitter Community participated in the clean up exercise in some parts of panseke which is said to be always dirty.

Following one of their write ups, "the clean up is not only to clean but to feel happiness living within the environment."

It was a great evening in the city of Ibadan on the 5th of October as Obafemi Awolowo University Student, Miss Olamide Adedayo was crowned as the new Miss Ojuloge Nigeria 2019/2020.

Miss Olamide Adedayo emerged winner amongst 10 other beautiful contestants to become the new Miss Ojuloge Nigeria 2019/20. Miss Damilola Bankole came up as the first runner up, while Miss Bolanle Alabi came up as the second runner up.

It was a fun filled evening as the participants thrilled the audience with their choreography dance, talents display, cultural display, amazing catwalk session and gorgeous dinner gown display. The participants also showed high level of intelligence by responding to critical questions from the judges in a well-articulated manner which shows the participants are well groomed by the organizers.

They also had good performances from various music Artistes and Comedians both within and outside Ibadan.

HEALTHY EATING HABIT DURING 2019 RAMADAN PERIOD

Alhamdullahi Robbi Allaamin to my Muslim brothers and sisters, for making us witness another holy month of the year. Ramadan period is a holy month for the Muslims, where they stay away from ungodliness and impurities. It’s a month where they become extra disciplined in attitude, character and eating habit, as revealed in the holy book of God to our prophet, Mohammed (SAW).

During this period there are two important meals, which are the Suhoor and the Iftar. The Suhoor is the meal eaten before sun set (4:00am-5:00am) and it’s eaten to prepare us for the period of fast for the day. The Iftar is eaten to break the fast and revitalize the body after a long period of fast. Despite the evident effects of fasting on human body, one can still practise good nutrition during this period and avoid occurrence of high glucose level, low glucose level, high blood pressure and the likes. The Fasting can also help to maintain a healthy weight, provided we follow the guidelines. So my article today will centre on how to maintain a healthy nutrition practice during Ramadan.

-UNDERSTANDING YOU: It is important to understand your health status before embarking on the fasting journey. Am I healthy enough? You don’t want to harm yourself all in the name of fulfilling religious obligations, because even the Holy book frowns at it. Pregnant women, Diabetics, infants, lactating women, women/ladies in their menstrual cycle, critically ill persons or recovering from illness that requires close monitoring and high calorie needs etc should be exempted from the fasting exercise.

-CONSUMING AN ENERGY AND NUTRIENT DENSED SUHOOR: Ensure that the food you eat to before commencing the fast has enough energy/calorie content, so that it can keep you till as long as the afternoon or early evenings before the break of the fast. Also ensure that you eat nutrient dense/ balanced meal. You don’t want to end the fasting period with nutrient deficiencies or nutrition related conditions. Ensure each nutrient is adequately present and supported with high fibre as well like whole grains (wheat, bread, oat,corn etc). You can have yam and fried vegetable eggs, with a warm cup of beverage and plenty of water (that’s just an example of energy dense meals; you can also make nice combinations of different meals).


-MINIMIZE YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES /GET ENOUGH REST: At this period it’s important that your level of physical activities would/ should be reduced because you don’t want to worn out very easily. Be moderately active and take your time to rest, so that the digestion rate and gastric emptying of your food can be delayed. Sleep when necessary, it is also important that you put your body to rest. Too many activities can even cause you to compromise, so being at peace within yourself, being in a sober mood and prayerfully doing all that you do, are all ways of being at rest.

-REHYDRATION: The first thing to do once you are about to break, is to gulp down a glass of water. I will call it a way of awakening the body for the feast. You must have been dehydrated by now, so the body needs to be revitalized. Its common amongst us to eat Dates to break our fasts, yes that’s very good because Dates are potassium dense fruits that help to aid hydration and restore electrolyte of the body. You can also eat any fruit rich in potassium if date is not within reach like Banana, Oranges, Grapefruits, a few slice of cucumber(so you don’t get filled up on time).

-EAT A BALANCED AND ENERGY RICH IFTAR: At this point, you want to restore all the energy that has been used up during the period of the fast. It is very necessary that you eat a meal that is also balanced and has enough energy. But note that at this point, you must not stuff up your stomach with food; in the name of you have not eaten all along. Just eat your normal dietary intake or let me say eat moderately, so you can have space for bed time snack (after Taraweeh).

- [b]NERVE CALMING TARAWEEH: [/b]You begin to wonder, does it mean during this period we won’t have any snack. Very good thought, it’s very necessary that you have a very nice bed time snack (Healthy) after your Taraweeh prayers, just before you retire for the next day. Remember your bed time snack must be highly healthy and not the type that would wreck havoc to your health (whether Ramadan period or not). You can make a fruit platter/ fruit salad, you can take your remaining cucumber from the breaking time with handful of groundnut, an apple, oranges, carrot, pawpaw, watermelon, garden eggs, pineapple etc. This also helps to provide you with minerals and vitamins.

With these tips, you are on a healthy journey for the next one month of Ramadan which can also be a good start to a healthy eating and lifestyle practise.

The Urban Eccentric Queen: Queen Adeshina Ifeoluwa R.

As her royal-sounding name implies, it was as if Rokeebat was destined for greatness from the very beginning. The world says every girl is a Queen, but Rokeebat didn't settle with such statement and pursued her dreams of becoming a queen and alas, she became one.

ABEOKUTA SET FOR FIRST EVER EQ SEMINAR

The Ogun state Capital, Abeokuta is set for the first ever Emotional Intelligence Seminar in the state tagged "Abeokuta EQ Hangout".

The event which is packaged by Relationship Pendulum Africa, an organization which has it tentacles across Africa, is set to hold on 14th of December this year at Goldzek Gardens and Bars located at Ibara Housing Estate.

Speaking to News Men in Abeokuta, the Brain Behind the event, Micheal Jacob who is a Globally Certified EQ Professional revealed that the seminar is meant to expose indigenes of Abeokuta and Ogun state at large to the competences of emotional intelligence.

While speaking on the need for Emotional intelligence, He said, We are always in an emotion even when we try to be emotionless. We may not show an emotion, but the fact that our bodies secrete hormones and we are interpreting the world around us causes us to perceive the world, assess it and experience a sensation –feel an emotion.

Emotions affect our health, our relationships and our financial well-being. How we respond to other people and events in our lives often determines how people respond to us. The course of our lives often depends on our level of emotional intelligence (EQ).

So after my last international Certification Course, I saw a need to give back to my immediate environment of which Abeokuta seems to be closer, and I intend to give the same quality of exposure I had during my last training to people who would have the privilege to be part of this first ever EQ event in the state" He said

Peace Okolo, Ayobami Damilola have been crowned King and Queen of Western Nigeria, in amidst other several contestants.

An initiative which serves as a voice for both male and female models, the pageant, Face Of Western Nigeria, which was held at Owu Crown Hotel, Ibadan on the 11th November, is the first unisex beauty Pageant in south west, as It allows them push the boundaries of modeling and beauty pageant in western Nigeria.

According to the convener, Queen Eniola Christabel, the pageant focus is majorly to promote skills acquisition in the nine western states in Nigeria, which includes Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Edo, Delta, Ekiti, Kwara, Ondo and Lagos.

Meet the winners:

Queen Okolo Peace: The 18-year-old student of Mass Communication in Bowen University, Iwo, is a 6ft tall, chocolate skinned model. She loves dancing, reading novels and she's picture taking freak. She's also Miss Bowen (1st runner up) and doubles as Queen of Western Nigeria.

King Ayobami Damilola: Damilola is a 300l student of University of Ibadan. He's a music producer, drummer, model and lover of sports.
Damilola is the current Mr Oyo State, first King and also now the King of Western Nigeria.

Solomon Ayoola (1st King): Solomon Adunbiaran Ayoola is from Ondo West LGA. He's presently in 400l, studying Biology Education at Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. We gathered you are launching four books on the 25th of August, Is that true? What is the motivation behind that?

Ans: You are right. My maiden book C – MYTH, alongside three other books, Digital Money Perfected, Poverty Escape Route and The Face Behind The Mask will be launched. What motivated these four books, especially, C - MYTH is the global misconceptions of cryptocurrency. There is high level of knowledge gap especially at the government level. You wonder why Russia, Turkey, Germany and other powerful nations are in support of the subject matter and some countries like ours find it difficult to understand the intricacies. So I put up the book to educate people who may want to either invest in it or know more about it.


Can you tell us about the four books?

Ans: C - MYTH is about educating the whole world about the pros and cons, plus the good, bad and ugly of cryptocurrency. DMP is to educate anyone who is interested in one of the cryptocurrencies I endorse - Dascoin. It's one of the reliable crypto that will go mainstream and help people overcome basic crypto challenges. Majority of people are clueless on how to metamorphose from their poor state to richness, PES is to enlighten open-minded people on what to do while TFBTM is to shed light on the deceptive nature of we human beings.

Are they all in hardcopy?

Ans: For now, we are going to produce hard-copy of C - MYTH while others will be e-book including C - MYTH.


What kind of Business are you into?

Ans: Interesting question. Am a serial investor with special interest in the Blockchain Technology and Cryptocurrency, Real Estate, Gold Investment and Investment Education via Book Writing.



Before you ventured into cryptocurrency trading, what kind of business were you into?

Ans: For almost a decade, I was in the Financial Service industry. I worked with REAN Finance (Now Royal Exchange Finance and Investment Ltd) from August 29, 2008 to December 31, 2014, after which I went to complete my degree program. I returned in 2015 and started to work with KC Finance (Now Credite Capital). I ventured fully into business In June 2016.



Is Digital Gold trading, the same as cryptocurrency trading? Do you trade that too?

Ans: What I did prior to crypto was online gold investment. It's not the same business process with crypto. We don't trade gold. What we do is to invest and encourage other open-minded and forward looking people to also invest. It's a very lucrative business that could give over 200% yield if done properly. I also educate people on how to do the gold business right and not in the popular deceptive manner.


Looking at your net worth, can you say you are worth Multi-Millions courtesy crypto currency trading?

Ans: (Laughs)  To the glory of God, am far more better  than I was two years back, courtesy of my numerous investments.



Can you tell us about the journey becoming a young millionaire?

Ans: Trust me, the journey is rough and narrow, only few can take it. I thank God I’m one of the passionate few serial investors around. If I tell you it's easy, I’m setting you up for colossal failure lol. With the right skill, mindset and action, the journey has been made easy. All glory be to Jehovah.


Some Economists believe digital currency cannot stand the test of time and that its trading is very risky. Do you agree with this?

Ans: Chapter 3 of the book C - MYTH explained the popular 21 myths of cryptocurrency, while chapter 5 talks about the good, bad and ugly of the subject. You see, a lot of people, Economist or not, do not understand the underlying factors behind Blockchain Technology and Cryptocurrency. Trust me, I don't blame them. It all boils down to knowledge gap. Tell me what business is risk-free? Do you expect crypto to be an exception of a risk-free venture? People are running away from manufacturing business because of the capital intensity and numerous risk right. Are there no people making good money from it? Get knowledge, and other things will be simple.



How many years have you been trading on crypto currency? Which of the currencies?

Ans: Cryptocurrency came to limelight in 2009. For a very long period, I committed myself to the study of the subject matter to see if it will stand the test of time. I delved into it fully when I found my footings right. It's been a couple of years I began crypto business journey.


We heard you just set up an organization. What services will the organization provide?

Ans: Yes.
