understand this

B O D M A S

no bracket, no division whats next? lets do the multiplication.

3 + (3 x 3) - 3 + 3

3 + 9 - 3 + 3

So whats next lets do the addition

12 - 6 = 6

the answer is 6
In Mathematics you don't add brackets by yourself except the bracket already exist in the question. The answer is 12. You need to relearn how to apply bodmas.

The right answer is 6. It's just like saying 3+(3*3)-(3+3)=3+9-6=6.
It's just a mental sum
You need to relearn bodmas. It can never be 6. The right answer is 12.

I wonder why someone who correctly fill the acronym BODMAS and still arrive at 12. Do we really understand the operational procedures of BODMAS? If so, we are expected to treat all Brackets bfor Off, all Divisions after Off, all Multiplications (3*3= 9, hence new equation is 3+9 - 3+3) after Divisions and all Additions (3+9) - (3+3) after Multipling and then Substrctn. So ladies and gentlemen, what is our final answer?
You don't know how to apply bodmas.

Pure math is all of the above, simple and mind boggling, and the very nature of the "Mathe" is that it twist and turns in a malleable way just as any language twist and turns malleable into various dialects.
I speak yoruba and know of various dialects. Also in english various dialects.

Pure math invokes that Dialectics apply where you can phrase your arithmetic expression in arbitrary ways so as to fit various more complex models in Mathematics. Mathe is like a dialect, various ways of phrasing are possible and there is still a lot yet to be discovered and corrected in what is taught as proper Mathematics.

The crux of this equation is the use of zero which was not even allowed in original mathmatics until a few ceturies ago. The debate still unsues among top world mathmaticians about the application of zero in math and the problems it creates when assigning zero a quality and function despite it representing nothing at all.
Trust me, the "Mathe " is like a maze full of twists and turns and no truly straight forward path to any particular destination or answer.
Maybe one day you will explore Math philosphy and theory for its wild nature.
Even the debate over the application of bodmas was never resolved among all the experts who ushered it into standard form. They just settled on the form we inherited today, because it works well enough and would save them endless theory debate through the wild maze that math can carry people through when you really think about math rather than just following rules of operation set forth by people who really think about math and know its true arbitrary nature.

Trust me when i say i agree with your answer as much as i agree with mine. But i chose mine just to stick as close to bodmas as possible.
According to Bodmas 6-0+1= 6-(0+1).. that leaves 6-(+1). and like you said -(+1) = -1 .. Therfore 6-1 which is 5.
Think first bodmas then think about phrasing in the order that bodmas prescribes.

Now here is another trick to reach your answer in the same way i did reach my answer.
6-0+1 can be rearranged to be 6+1-0. then bodmas will also allow (6+1)-0. that equals 7. The answer is seven with just moving numbers around.
If i leave the equation in its original lay out, i get 5 resulting. If i rearrange it without corupting it, i get 7 resulting.
That zero makes a confusing difference and can help people discover the arbitrary nature of mathe in its pure form.
You are not applying bodmas correctly. You don't have to add bracket except there is already a bracket in the equation.

That is the same as canceling each other out ,so why make the extra effort to give them a value dsignation when the ultimate status of 0 is absolutely nothing with no deficit or value other wise.
Then that will allude to the need to assign the (-) symbol somewhere where it does matter. Also, the (-) symbol cannot be attached to anything or designated in any part of the order of operation, until all other symbols have been designated and factored in the correct order of BODMAS. The negative symbol has to be the last symbol by which the last two remaining numbers are factored.

So according to " bodmas" 6-0+1 the zero added to one must be factored first before you ever decide what to do with the negative symbol.
0+1=1 then the one is free to factor with the six according to final remaining (-) symbol. The negatative symbol must be the last property to factor the final numbers by. Bodmas requires it according to that order of process. and that process according to bodmas, will lead to 6-1=5 as the final answer.
But i believe in pure math where Bodmas doesnt have to be the ultimate authority. Much to learn by changing the rules, but in pure mathematics, just like any language, dialectics will keep a standard uniform order of process by which it can function as a uniform technique.
So BODMAS is the arbitrar when pure mathematics meets itself in conflict.

How does 6-0+1 =7 ? Something is not right
6- (0+1) = 6-1
6-1 =5
there is no such number as -0 the - symbol can not be attached to the zero because that does not exists because zero does not have any value, it can not have any negative nor positive sway to its placement.
The - symbol must be factored in with the total of what 0 is being factored with. 0 being multiplied by one or added to 1=2/2.
So that will leave us subtracting as the last process in the order of operation BODMAS.
Bodmas requires that we add the 0 to the 1 before attending to what we will subtract from 6. Dont be confused by the illusion of such a number as -0. 0 is zero, there is no negative or positive about it, it is as neutral a number as can be, also 6- is not a number ,the - can not be factored as subtraction until all Division is factored, followed by multiplication, followed by addition and finally the subtraction.

Answer is 5

According to BODMAS, you cannot attach the - to any number nor can you factor it into any part of the procedure until all other parts of the procedure are factored.. Therefore the last opperation in the procedure must be the act of that subtraction using the (-)symbol attached to whatever final two numbers remain.
Therefore, 6 will be factored in terms of what will be subtracted from it. Subtraction must be the last process in the order of operation or it is not BODMAS.
That is why the answer is 6-(1) and not 6+1.. Bodmas does not allow the (-) to be factored away with any number except as the last process in the entire operation.. Your answer eliminated the (-) before your final addition. Bodmas says to Find a way to do any addition before Subtraction.
6-1 is the answer =5
