Nairaland GeneralMortician Reveals Why It Is Necesary To Knock At The Mortuary by happiness2020(op): 10:21am On Oct 18, 2016
– Mr Kalu Ben Chima has made shocking revelations as to his practice as a mortician
– Chima who is the proprietor of Emeka Mortuary has revealed why morticians knock at the doors of mortuaries
Chima whose is popularly known as Emeka Ambulance, Okunmi Community, located at the suburbs of Ikom, Central senatorial district, Cross River state, has revealed that morticians have to battle the spiritual in the line of duty.
The mortician said that now and again, people in his line of business go through warfare with occultists and members of some secret societies before their corpses were embalmed in his mortuary.
Vanguard reports that the Arochukwu-born mortician, whose mortuary is located along Ikom-Calabar highway, confessed to NDV that dead bodies, especially those of occultists and members of secret societies “do give us trouble while being embalmed because their bodies have been ‘fortified’ by the devil or some spiritual forces.”
There are forces beyond the human
“In such cases, we have to pet and persuade them by talking to them to allow the chemicals to penetrate their bodies, but if they remain stubborn, we have to employ our own spiritual force and of course, power pass power and we can then embalm them,” he disclosed.
According to him, he learnt the trade in Onitsha General Hospital, Anambra state, and had come to know that some dead bodies were so “powerful” such that they do not allow others to lie close to them and he was always careful when attending to such bodies. Some corpses don’t allow others to lie near them His words: “Some powerful people do not allow other dead bodies to lie close to them, so in the night, they will remove other bodies near them and dump them far from where they are or they would go to an isolated place and lie there – all dead bodies are not the same, which is why we knock before we enter there.”
Mysterious stories
A few months after it Mr Chima’s mortuary was established, there was an unsubstantiated story about a man, whose car broke down close to the mortuary late in the night and he decided to seek for place to spend the night, and knocked on the door of a house he saw light burning close by.
A security guard reportedly came out and gave him a mat to sleep in a section of the room, only for him to wake up the next morning and discovered that he slept among corpses and he instantly passed out.
Another case was that while conveying a corpse, the mortician occasionally walked behind the ambulance, while the corpse drives the van and the bizarre- that he sells body parts of dead people and so on.
Chima confirmed some creepy stories and described others as hearsay. On the man who allegedly slept in the mortuary with corpses, he said it was not true and he does not keep security guards in the mortuary.
The dead still have spiritual powers
Mr Chima said: “The corpses may be dead, but they still possess some spiritual powers to protect themselves. We have about 100 corpses right now and 18 abandoned ones, but we keep the place open, both day and night, without any security and anybody, who attempts to do anything funny by going there to steal or do anything has himself to blame” .
He, however, described as false claims that some people sell parts of dead people or do have sex with them.
The mortician further disclosed that Sex with the dead is a deadly affair. He asserted: “Do not think that because she is lying down there, she is finished and you can go and have sex with her. You will die also in a matter of hours or days and how can someone sell body parts of a corpse or water used in washing a corpse, such water is poisonous.
People die from different ailments such as HIV/AIDS, and water used in washing their bodies is poisonous and any person who uses it will either die or contact sickness.”
On the report that he has rented crowd of women, who engage in bogus weeping when a person dies, he said the women were part of a specialized funeral services he offers. Some people hire mourners before their death.
He explained: “Some people do not have people to cry for them when they die, so they will arrange with us while they are alive to get some women to cry during their burial and also, some people because they are polygamist would arrange with us to organize the casket, grave, and mortuary services so that when they die, there will be no struggle among family members on who to do what and so on.”

EducationBREAKING: Kidnappers Release VP, Teacher And Students. by happiness2020(op): 8:52am On Oct 12, 2016
Emerging reports suggests that the vice principal, a teacher and 2 students of Government Model College at the Igbonla area of Epe have been released from the den of those who kidnapped them.
An 11-man gang had last week stormed Government Model College at the Igbonla area of Epe and abducted two students, their vice principal and a teacher.
The release came following the expiration of the 24 hours ultimatum given by the kidnappers of two students, the vice principal and a teacher from the secondary school located in Epe, Lagos.
According to This Day, the victims were released at about 10.30pm in yet to be ascertained circumstances.
Although it was yet to be confirmed, it was gathered that the family of one
abducted student who was sick, had paid N1 million ransom as requested by the kidnappers.
It was also gathered that the other families did not pay a dime.
The police has confirmed the release, but are yet to make a formal statement.
Meanwhile, to beef up security at the community level, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state on Tuesday said no fewer than 5,000 men and women would be recruited to Neighbourhood Watch – the state grass roots security outfit.
Ambode, who spoke at the ‘2016 3rd Quarter Town Hall Meeting’ of his administration at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, added that the new recruits would earn at least N25,000 monthly, apart from other allowances.
He said the Neighbourhood Safety Agency Bill which he signed into law on August 15, 2016, was part of efforts to institutionalise and deepen community policing in the state.
“There is a law that has just been passed which is the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps Law, 2016. We will make sure that this agency is activated and our neighbourhoods are secured. We will provide NW with all the necessary equipment and resources to ensure that we establish what we call community policing and that is the way to go.
“We will rebrand and re-equip the NW to the level that each NW officer in all the local government areas will have their vehicles and necessary equipment to complement security. We are working on employing additional 5,000 NW officers and they will be paid by us, while the basic salary for the entrance level will be N25, 000 per month,” the governor said.
According to The Punch, Ambode said the government would begin the disbursement of N25bn Employment Trust Fund (ETF) to beneficiaries by next week.
Ambode added that the N500m Lagos State Persons Living with Disability Fund was also ready for beneficiaries.
The governor explained that the ETF and the disability funds were to assist youths, artisans and the needy to become self-reliant.
He said: “We will roll out all our empowerment programmes to assist our youths, artisans and the needy. The funds have been provided and the beneficiaries will start getting support from this quarter.”
Ambode disclosed that the state’s budget performance from January to September was 69 per cent as against 65 per cent for the same period in 2015.
He said a total of N166.8bn had been spent on capital projects in 2016, which he said was more than the N53.6bn spent for the same period in 2015.
He expressed optimism that despite the recession, the state’s economy would remain on sound footing if capital expenditure spending was increased.
“In this quarter, we will concentrate more resources on capital projects. We will put money in the hands of our local contractors and through them, stimulate the economy. Immediate payments will be made to contractors handling health and education sectors projects within the next two weeks,” Ambode added.

Politics I Think This Is Worth Sharing by happiness2020(op): 4:55pm On Oct 06, 2016
I truly think this is worth sharing! Here's a thought provoking suggestion to the government of our great country Nigeria. *A senator earns N36,000,000 monthly*. If this is divided into two, he collects N18,000,000 and the balance *N18,000,000 can be used to employ 200 Nigerians who will earn N90,000 per month.* 200 persons multiplied by 109 senators = *21800 employees*. This means that 200 Nigerians can live comfortably on half of a senator's monthly pay. *A member of the Federal House of Reps. earns N25,000,000 per month.* If this is divided into two, the 'Honourable' earns N12.5million per month. The balance *N12.5million will employ 135 Nigerians who will earn N92,500 per month*. 135 Nigerians multiplied by 360 Honourables in the Federal house of Reps. = *48600 employees*. 135 Nigerians can comfortably live on half of a monthly income of just ONE Honourable member of Reps. *This administration can actually EMPLOY 70,400* *Nigerians who will earn N90,000 and N92,500 respectively _just from the simple REDUCTION of the monthly income of both Senators and Rep members_!!* Do the maths.... Now it's your responsibility to forward to your *Senator* and *House of Rep member*... *CHANGE should begin with the NASS!* Please Re-broadcast!!

PoliticsBen Bruce Speaks On Naira Devaluation, Economic Recession. by happiness2020(op): 7:33pm On Oct 05, 2016
Ben Murray-Bruce has reacted to the calls from the European Union officials to devalue the naira as part of measures to tackle the economic recession.
A Nigerian business magnate and politician has taken to his Facebook page to express his opinion on the issue on Wednesday, October 5:
If the European Union want Nigeria to devalue our currency, which is already at ₦475 to $1, further, then they should supply coffins for Nigerians that will die as a result!
How do they want people living on ₦18,000 a month to survive? Even the dogs and cats in Europe exist on more than that!
Earlier this week he also shared his latest video series where he speak on practical solutions to Nigeria’s recession.
The Nigerian Naira on Wednesday, October 5, has remained at N476/$1 in the black market as it was yesterday, October 4.
This would leave Naira’s black market value unchanged since it dropped 1 point from N475 to trade at N476 by midday yesterday.
Menwhile, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected that
Nigeria’s economy will be out of recession in 2017 .
According to IMF, the economy will grow by 0.6% next year adding that it is projected that the recession will outlast 2016 with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) contraction of 1.7%.
PoliticsHow Nigeria's Economic Recession Is Affecting West Africa - ECOWAS by happiness2020(op): 11:29pm On Oct 04, 2016
The current economic recession in Nigeria is affecting not just the country but other countries in West Africa.

Speaking on this Mr Marcel de Souza, the President of the ECOWAS commission, said that the recession being experienced in Nigeria has a negative impact on the sub-region’s overall economic performance.
While presenting the community status report at the ongoing second ordinary session of the ECOWAS Parliament in Abuja on Tuesday, October 4, De Souza who was represented by the commission’s vice president, Mr Edward Singhateh revealed this.

He also revealed how Nigeria’s recession was affecting the general Gross Domestic Product (GDP), saying that the sub-region’s GDP had declined to three per cent in 2016 from 5.6 per cent in 2013.
Since Nigeria’s economy represents two thirds of the sub-region’s GDP, this was to be expected. He also explained that Nigeria’s GDP had dropped to 2.3 per cent in 2016 from 5.4 per cent in 2013, one of the lowest in the sub-region.

Speaking on the reason behind the reduction, De Souza explained that the drop in Nigeria’s growth rate was due to the reduction in oil prices.

He said that The Gambia also had a reduction in its growth rate to 2.3 per cent from 4.8 per cent in 2013. Liberia and Cape Verde, he said, had a growth rate of 2.5 and 2.9 per cent respectively from 8.1 and one per cent respectively.

Cote d’Ivoire was the member state with the highest growth rate from 9.3 per cent in 2013 to 9.8 per cent in 2016. While some other member states have experienced a growth rate of between 4.5 per cent and 6.6 per cent in 2016 against 3.3 per cent to 13 percent in 2013.

Speaking on Sierra Leone, he said: “The decline in Sierra Leone’s growth rate from 13 per cent to 21.5 per cent was mainly due to the negative impact of the Ebola Virus Disease on the country.’’

Meanwhile, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Court of Justice has declared the arrest and detention of former national security adviser Sambo Dasuki by the Nigerian government as unlawful. The court also ordered that a fine be paid to Dasuki.

Ruling on the case brought against the federal government before it by Dasuki over his continued detention on Tuesday, October 4, the court said the government’s action was arbitrary and anti-democratic.

PoliticsMixed Reactions Trail Proposed Sale Of Presidential Jets. by happiness2020(op): 10:19pm On Oct 04, 2016
Mixed reactions have trailed the proposed sale of two of the jets used by President Muhammadu Buhari.
On Tuesday, October 4, the federal government advertised the sale of two aircraft in the presidential fleet.
Garba Shehu, the president’s senior special assistant on media and publicity,
confirmed this in a series of tweets from his Twitter handle @GarShehu.
He said this is in line with the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari that aircraft in the presidential air fleet be reduced to cut down on waste.
The fleet is believed to hold as much as 10 airplanes, and the president has been criticised for maintaining the large fleet in the past.
Mixed reactions have trailed the proposed sale of Nigeria’s presidential jets
The Office of the National Security Adviser advertised the sale of two airplanes in a national daily, adding that the aircraft that are currently up for sale are Falcon 7x and Hawker 4000 and are to be quoted in dollars.

The president’s senior special assistant also said some of the aircrafts will be handed over to the Nigerian Air force to boost their operations.
While some Nigerians have commended the move, others argue that this should have been done earlier. Some however expressed doubt about how the money from the sale of the jet will be managed.
Read the reactions below:
Athan Beloved wrote: Not only selling of jet, they should equally cut down on the salaries and allowances they collect, from the presidency to ministers, national assembly to governors and also local government officials, that’s when we’ll know the sincerity of service of all this folks. I don’t see any sincerity in them all.
Abbas Datti wrote: Still I catch #Buhari red-handed reneging on yet-another campaign pledge. Because what he said during campaign is, he will commercialise the air fleets to generate more revenue for govt. not selling off of the air fleets. No wonder this man is daily turning into a national pariah, even in the northern part of Nigeria. Because he’s always off the track since his accidental assumption. All promises changed from #Nigerianairways to selling off the air fleets.
Omagbemi Ololo wrote: Selling of jets Cannot help anything. Federal and state governments should reduce their allowance by 40 percent to enable the country come out of the present economic recession that is the only way forward.
Kelechi Allison wrote: Before you begin to #hail be reminded that “We intend for instance to bring back our national carrier the Nigeria Airways, we shall do this by bringing all the aircraft in the Presidential fleet into the Nigerian Airways and within one year increase the fleets to twenty.” Buhari in London February 2015.

Peter Brown Alenwu wrote: I’m absolutely disappointed as far as the issue of presidential fleet is concerned. If not for anything, I expected Mr President to do the needful and reduce the fleet before now. Power indeed, changes man

Jerry Ike Udeh wrote: You want to sale all our property to develops the North, Buhari what of the said money you collected from looter’s, God must surely punish this man.
