Anyone who meets Bola Ilori will soon come to realize that he’s neither a man of limited ambition nor is he easily contented. As the former Special Adviser to the Governor of Osun on Environment, he has forged a successful career by ignoring others when they tell him that something cannot be done. Today, Osun is a flood free and one of the neatness states in Nigeria. Hon. Bola is a proactive and visionary leader with an utmost dedication toward his goal. The gospel at hand now is REGIONAL INTEGRATION- orientating, building bridges and upgrading cooperation through common institutions, culture, and economy across western Nigeria. The Ministry of Regional Integration, the state of Osun under the control of Hon. Bola Ilori organizing a youth summit tagged “Regional Youth Summit 2017”. Yoruba said "if u want to be Osakala be Osakala if u want to be Osokolo be Osokolo, Osakala Sokolo what do we called you? I called you scared-cats. Why can't you come out openly, to take a bold step and drum your support for Demola and PDP since you know that Aregbesola is sidelinning you and you wanted to work against him and the APC candidate. My advice for you is stop hiding under one finger and come out openly, for you to be acclaiming APC member but working for PDP, posterity will surely judge you according to your evils deeds and your secret will be exposed by God's Grace. If you think you can stop the victory of Senator Mudasir Husain on July 8th 2017, you are wasting your time. Your word is like "Ódè to hún wo ìséju ákàn yio pé lèti Ómi". #LetUsReturnHusain

Aregbesola's stand on Lautech university. When someone is crippled and you say he/she is not running, do you expect him/her to run? Is it incapacity, inability or disinterest, first of all let us understand this fact, education that must be given free is basic education. Every society owes their citizens quality and compulsory basic education, any adult education is optional, education at the adult stage is optional but because we are running renting economy we don't known what is free. Lautech, I said it on Gbangbandekun I said gentlemen we cannot be running at this pace, we should use what we have to run the school because tje economy has worsen. Three years ago it became obvious, we are no longer supporting Uniosun. We said Uniosun should fund itself and before then we have cut their school fees from 175,000 to 100,000, 125,000 to 65,000 and yet we denied the university 5% they were getting from local government. Strangely Uniosun with 12,000 students survived. By the way, Lautech has over 30,000 students and Lautech with an average fee of #60,000 and the different between UniOsun regime fee and LAUTECH is just #5,000. The question I ask myself is, if Uniosun with 12,000 students with six campuses in different towns can manage his own affairs without pressure on government it is still a puzzle Lautech with 30,000 can not manage his own affairs. If those workers that are with us refused the modifies salaries and leave work, there would be no government. They realised that if they refused to accept reality there would be no government. I'm baffled when people refused to live by reality and the reality is not a question of whether am interested or disinterested in funding LAUTECH, it's just that I'm incapable. As bad as our financial condition, we still contribute to Lautech every month out of the very limited resources we have I still release money for Lautech (though very small) while I haven't done the same for Uniosun. So the question is not lack of interest or lack of commitment, it's the state financial incapability and the failure of Lautech management to live within their means . but it will change very soon. We have commissioned a reputable accounting firm that will do personal audit, financial audit of the institution which will let us know where thus the fees of the students go and how many people are there receiving salaries because it's either the money is improperly managed or the staffs are over loathed. What the university received as fees if properly manages and transparently used is enough to run the university successfully. My appeal to the students is simple let us all go together to get staffs, management and council of the university to be accountable to themselves and to the owners. I genuinely believe since Uniosun can run on its own, Lautech can do so as well.

Dr Rafiu Isamotu together with other dignitaries accompanied the Governor of the State of Osun Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to a Rice farm at Onilapa Ogbaagbaa, Ola Oluwa Local Government Area. With the way Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola is going about farming in Osun, pretty soon both cash and food crops will add significantly to our IGR.

#UNIOSUN: Students Are Protesting Against Best Practice - VC, Labode http://progressivese-group..ae/2017/02/uniosun-students-are-protesting-against_16.html The Vice Chancellor of Osun State University Professor Labode Popoola has expressed his discontentment over a needless protest organized by the students against management decision requesting them to pay their fees being a normal procedure for academic registration. According to the statement released through his office, Professor Popoola explained that management was only appealing students to pay their registrations within the stipulated time which is in tandem with the modus operandi in the academic world. The Vice Chancellor said, "simply because we are insisting on best practice by requesting students to pay their fees, even after 12 weeks of resumption. UNIOSUN students have decided to embark on protest according to them to "amputate all activities" on our campuses." He cautioned the students to be well guided while embarking on the needless protest, "since the constitution of Nigeria guarantees the right to peaceful protest, we like to encourage decorum while it lasts. We implore all peace-loving staff and students to go about their activities calmly till the "storm in the tea cup subsides." The VC says. "We implore all to note that this conduct is a threat to public peace and not in accordance with the appeal and dialogues we had with the Students’ leaders. We, however, implore security agencies to take action professionally to ensure the safety and lives and properties of the school, protesters and innocent citizens." It was gathered that the attitude of noncompliance with standard rules in UNIOSUN predates the tenure of the new VC who was recently appointed to steer the activities of the institution. It was investigated and established that the Vice Chancellor inherits an institution that has been badly affected by 'a tradition of noncompliance with best practice' and he has since his enthronement positioned himself to restructure the system and lay a standard foundation for a better academic session for the students during his tenure in office as vice-chancellor. Though the VC has a genuine intention based on his experience to change the school for the best, insinuation has it that the beneficiaries of the old doings in the institution may be cohesively working to frustrate his efforts. How best UNIOSUN jumps this first hurdle under the leadership of the new VC would determine how far the 'change mantra' of Prof Labode will succeed.

Achieving much with less resources: The Osun example.... Times are changing. Nigeria’s economy is in a shambles. The Federal Government is also not left out of the conundrum. The late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo had warned of impending gloom which today has become a sreality. He had dreamt of a society in which all ethnic groups that make up Nigeria would be self-sustained through the development and control of its own natural resources. No state or region in Nigeria is without its own peculiar natural endowment. We are all blessed in some way with our comparative advantage in natural and even human resources. So blessed are we that each of the constitutionally recognized 774 local government areas in Nigeria also has its own natural resource with which it can survive without an external help. But over the time, we have failed to harness these God-given endowments. We always speak about true federalism as a national symbol, but we have been romancing unitary system. Nigeria iss a de facto unitary enclave. Everything begins and ends in Abuja. The economic fate of every state in Nigeria is decided in the federal capital. We can get out of the woods if we are ready to be real and honest with ourselves and stop living in fake realities. We still seem to live in the old past when allocations from Abuja was more than enough to take care of the needs as states or as local government areas. We still want our wards to join the already over-bloated civil services of the federal, states and local government areas even though those already engaged are really not getting paid as and when due, due to dwindling resources. We still go to work from 8:00 in the morning and close by 4:00 in the afternoon without really earning our pay for that day. We chat and tweet verbally and electronically. We still lack that moral honesty to ask ourselves whether we have worked conscientiously for that money we expect to be paid by federal, state or local governments at the end of the month. Yet, we blame our government for not providing enough for us when we, in our own little ways, have refused to create that wealth from which we expect to reap. We have refused to be resourceful, thinking in our subconscious reasoning that the government is still there to take care of our needs. We still consume foreign foods which the unavailable foreign exchange can no more provide, neglecting our local staples. Indeed, what used to be an exception in our food and social consumptions are now our regulars: foreign rice, foreign teas and beverages, foreign automobiles, foreign wears and clothing as well as even foreign habits when we have been told that no nation develops if it does not develop the habit of self-sustenance. http://thenationonlineng.net/achieving-much-less-resources-osun-example/

Osun pensioners’ “IDP camp” a wicked, mischievous joke – Govt ON January 10, 2017 6:09 PM / IN News / The Government of Osun on Tuesday described as another propaganda against the Rauf Aregbesola administration, the claims that some pensioners have set up a camp purposely for those calling themselves “Internally Displaced Pensioners.” The government, through a statement by the Bureau of Communication and Strategy and signed by its Director, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon said, if indeed, any camp was set up, it could not be for demand for payment of any pensions. “Our attention has been drawn to a sensational display of photograph of some persons who claim to be pensioners in Osun who have dubiously grouped themselves “Internally Displaced Pensioners” and claimed to have set up an “IDP” camp in the state capital, Osogbo.” “To us, this is taking the joke too far. There should be limit to campaigns of calumny and deliberate fabrications of emotive conditions all in desperation to diminish the achievements of a government.” Aregbosola “It was common knowledge that the State of Osun ended the Year 2016 in the most financially boisterous mood ever with the payment of four months salaries to active workers and pensions to the passive workers.” The Bureau said for the purpose of record, “pensioners on N1,000 -N20,000 collected 100% pensions; Those on N20,001 -N80,000 collected N75% pensions and that pensioners on N80,001 collect 50% of their pensions.” “By our calculations, Osun state pensioners alone got at least, N1,539,227,442.75 out of the N14.2billion paid to active and passive workers in the last two weeks as arrears of 4 months salaries and pensions excluding what the local government pensioners were paid for the same period.” The statement asked discerning Nigerians to “see this mischief as part of the determination of some disgruntled elements and their media partner who are bent on deliberate fabrication of falsehood against this government.” “Without celebrating the failings of other places, the Osun government today is prominent among the states that have taken payment of pensions as a priority. It is therefore pertinent to ask these people what are there grouse against Governor Rauf Aregbesola. It certainly cannot be their pensions,” it added It explained further that in 2015, Osun committed a total of N5,426,720,195.68 to payment of pensions in spite of the very difficult financial stress the state found itself. “In 2016, the state also committed a total of N3,981,312,918.78 to payment of pensions. These are facts and figures that are in public domain.” it stated The statement said less than 24 hours after the display of the photographs and the claim to have set up the camp, there are no traces of any camp at the Freedom Park Osogbo or anywhere in the state capital. “This, to us, confirms the fact that the mischief makers have merely orchestrated a stunt. But discerning Nigerians can see already that this is a mere propaganda.” it said. The statement added that Aregbesola has demonstrated unbeatable display of transparency in public administration. “This government has given meaning to good governance. History will definitely be there to judge with Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s commitment to the good of the people,” it concluded. |

Lasun Yusuf aides prearrange malicious stories with PDP writer to blackmail Aregbesola - Wale Alabi The coordinator of the Progressives e-Group has expressed his displeasure over a report being circulated on social media by one PDP propagandist who was recently recruited into the media team of the honourable member representing Orolu/Irepodun/Osogbo/Olorunda federal constituency and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representative, Hon Lasun Yusuf. According to Wale Alabi, the fabricated report was purely sponsored to attack the governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. Reacting to the falsehood, Wale Alabi said, "it's barbaric and totally nonsensical for anybody to have engaged in character assassination to promote his/her principal even if that's part of the job descriptions assigned to him. I can't just imagine what the media space has been reduced to." Explaining his side, Wale Alabi insists no one mentioned the deputy speaker's name at the event. He said, the dinner which had Governor Aregbesola and other dignitaries in attendance was organized by the most viable and formidable progressive social media team in Nigeria 'the Progressives e-Group' to celebrate the end of 2016 calendar year. "There was no way anybody could have talked about Lasun in such an event which was a gathering of loyalty and progressive decencies." Alabi insisted. "Mr Governor's remark at the dinner revolves around; Osun finance, how to make Osun prosper in the coming year and LAUTECH issue. I don't know how that translate to Hon Yusuf's ambition." Said the coordinator. Alabi said it's laughable that aides of Hon Lasun Yusuf could prearrange a verbal bomb against their boss and tend to blackmail Aregbesola into their foolery. "I don't understand that kind of politicking. Hon Lasun Yusuf is a leader, he should stop patronizing nonentities whose actions may further justify the insinuation that he has been calumniating the party and all the progressive proprieties." Alabi continued. "As a party member, I owe the deputy speaker a duty by calling his attention to the excesses of his followers, also advise him to teach his loyalists/subordinates to be truthful in their reportages and dealings," Alabi concluded. http://progressivese-group..ae/2017/01/lasun-yusuf-aides-prearranged-malicious.html |
