IGBO VILLAGE IN AMERICA

This Igbo village is not located in Nigeria! It is in Staunton, Virginia of all places!! The village made of mud huts, is located at the Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton.

Members of the Nwannedinamba Young Adult Branch helped build the village 2 years ago. It has since become a center of attraction where tourists come to know more about the Igbo people. The pictures and story were shared with Info Nollywood by Christopher Okonkwo who attended an event at the Igbo villlage.

PoliticsRe: Abia Governorship Race - Road To 2015 by harmless011: 9:45pm On Sep 26, 2012
ikechi Emenike would have been a good choice but considering the fact that there are zoning arrangement in Abia state which makes it the turn of Abia South senatorial district to produce the next governor come 2015. Abia north (orji uzor kalu) rule from 1999 to 2007, Abia central (t.a. orji) 2007 to 2015 so now is the turn of Abia south.
I am totally against this zoning of a thing as it promote mediocrity.
afam4eva: We all know the calamity that has befallen Abia state since this republic and it even got worse since Theodoore Orji assumed the governorship seat in Abia state. many of us hoped that after his first term Ndi-Abia will realize their mistakes and vote for someone else but unfortunately for progressives in Igboland and Nigeria, that was not to be as this man was returned unopposed and is on a mission to return Abia state to the stone age. I noticed that one reason why orji was returned is because there was no popular candidate that contested for that seat and the gubernatorial race just looked like a one way street with no fierce opposition whatsoever. Anyways, we have no choice but to wait for him to finish his tenure. But why we do so, we should suggest names that we think will be useful in 2015. Who do we want to be the contenders come 2015. We have to do this in order to save Abia from it's current situation. We need at least a leader in mould of Chime or Okorocha in Abia. never again will Abia be taken for granted. Ndi Abia and Ndi Igbo stand up and be counted as the catalyst that will forge a positive front for Abia state.
Christianity EtcRe: Which Church Will You Advice A New Convert To Attend ? by harmless011: 6:55pm On Sep 09, 2012
Techwriter: It all depends on the leading of the Spirit and the individual. Some people will never go to Deeper Life because its not in line with their upbringing. They were brought up wearing trousers as a lady. They would find Christianity boring and quit. Others sence of decenc
y abhors women wearing trousers, even as an unbeliever she believes she is holier than all the trouser wearing ladies. She may not cope in all the women-trouser-wearing churches. Semi-literate people can cope in RCCG for instance where they have interpreyers but would be wasting his/her time in Chris Okotie church where even a literate man struggles to catch some words while others enjoy the way the trendy pastor weaves words.
So consider those factors and don't force the person to your church especially if you know he won't cope. I have had people come to our church and run away because they feel they are too different from this rich and well dressed guys. They feel intimidated and no amount of love could revive their self-confidence. So many other factors I can't mention here come into play. But PRAY and follow the Spirit

PoliticsRe: Plan To Recycle Abia’s Wastes Underway by harmless011: 1:45pm On Jul 20, 2012
chiomen: I think you yourself need to read in between the lines. What is your problem with establishing a recycle factory in Abia. There's one thing that you disgruntled critics of Abia should take note, the state governor is determined to take the state to a greater height, that's why you see project work going on in the state like never before. Also for your information, the plant will be sited in Abia. Abia youths of course will be gainfully employed. If the Oyibo man feel say the scrap waste will be transported abroad, fine. At least revenue will be made from its sale
Can you please point one single project that is going on in Abia state right now, your guys will not cease to amaze me with all this cheap propaganda.

I WEEP FOR MY NAIJA!!!

PoliticsPatience Jonathan, 18 Others Now Perm Secs by harmless011(op): 8:02am On Jul 12, 2012
First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan was one of 19 permanent secretaries appointed by the Bayelsa State government yesterday.

The state broadcasting station, Radio Bayelsa, referring to a statement signed by the state’s head of service, Mrs. Gloria Izonfor, said Governor Seriake Dickson made the appointment on the strength of the constitutional powers conferred on him under Section 203, Sub-section 2C. Governor Dickson later confirmed the appointment to LEADERSHIP.

Jonathan had worked in the Rivers State and later Bayelsa State Ministry of Education before her husband became deputy governor and later governor of the state.

Her elevation to the status of permanent secretary was described as “routine” by the senior special assistant to the governor on media and public affairs Markson Iworiso, who also confirmed the appointment in an interview with LEADERSHIP last night.

Others on the list of permanent secretaries were Mr. J.E. Oye, Samson Ayibeboa, Mrs. Antonia Koroye, Ziwari Billie, Buruboyefa John, Dikuro Ayebameh, Serge Williams, Olu Kuruom, G.I.Izein,Mrs.Philomena Alodie, Dr. Omietimi Kojo, Ese Izonebi, Ohougha Mathias, James Clinton, Mrs. Linnet Tebepah, Moses Teibowei, Dr. A. Sanayi and Vivian Odiwei.
Mrs. Jonathan’s appointment raised eyebrows in view of her current position as first lady.

However, the SSA Media to the Bayelsa governor insisted that the appointment was purely based on merit, as Mrs Jonathan has served in the civil service of the state where she rose to the position of director.

Asked whether someone who retired from service can be appointed a perm sec, Mr. Markson said: “in reality, Her Excellency is still in service, on a leave of absence. All those appointed with her were her subordinates.

The First Lady should not be discriminated against simply because she is now the wife of the president. The pride of every civil servant is to attain the position of perm sec, which is the zenith of the profession.”

Meanwhile, prominent lawyers Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), Chief Mike Ahamba (SAN) and Mr Bamidele Aturu have reacted to the development, saying it is was unbelievable that Patience Jonathan who left the service of Bayelsa State in 1999 could be elevated to a position of permanent secretary.

The lawyers said if the story is true, then it smacks the point that Nigeria is in confusion and needs urgent and drastic arrest.

They described it as too condescending and degrading for anyone to contemplate that the first lady would be made permanent secretary in Bayelsa State.

According to Sagay, Governor Dickson has demonstrated the highest level of sycophancy, adding that it is an act of privatising governance in the country.

Sagay said: “If that is true, it means there is no longer a limit to which people can descend in Nigeria. Such thing should be too low to contemplate. It looks like degrading oneself.

“It clearly shows that there is no act of sycophancy such a state governor that did the appointment cannot go. It looks ridiculous and uncalled for.

Ahamba stated: “It is very good. I congratulate her on her new job. The whole place is in confusion. Let Nigerians talk about it and count me out of such nonsense. It is a vexation to an innocent spirit and can cause one to vomit. How can it happen?”

Aturu also said: “It is unbelievable. It must be a mistake. If it is true, then, only God can help Nigerians out of it. How can you unnecessarily privatise governance? I am short of words to state my mind. It is shocking because just for the reason that she is the wife of the president, so it is a licence to just go and assume a position anywhere. Nigerians must begin to think of how to take their destiny in their own hands.”

If this is confirmed i am changing my citizenship!!!!!!
PoliticsPresidential Jet Conveying Mrs Goodluck Prevent Faulty Dana Plane From Landing by harmless011(op): 7:45pm On Jun 05, 2012
This was just posted on facebook, while reading this i cannot prevent the tears from flowing

"Is there any way of getting confirmation about news I'm just getting that the Dana plane was distressed for a while but could not make an emergency landing because the airspace was closed for 2 hours for the Presidential Jet carrying Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan.

Private jet owners who had to hover in the air same time leaked this. This was apparently the reason local news didn't report the crash for so long till CNN and foreign news stations started reporting it.

Local news was 'blacked out' trying to kill the story of the airspace being closed while a distressed plane couldn't land.

It would be shocking if so. Though there was engine failure there was still time for the plane to have landed apparently.

You do know anyway that the airspace is closed for up to 2hours each time the Presidential Jet needs to go into the air? 2 hours for a 15minute take off or landing!

And this jet is used by President, VP, President's wife and if I recall David Mark.

It's almost a daily occurrence I've been told by airline staff when it caught me out on a trip

The truth remains that the President's wife was actually in Lagos to attend the christening of their personal assistant's child at the Oriental hotel.. Lekki. Anyone living on the Lekki axis saw first hand the horrendous traffic caused by the president's wife's visit..and confirmed reports from airport staff who volunteered information, collaborated this fact, that the Lagos airport was actually shut for 2 hours, about the same time the ill fated Dana Plane crashed. This also strongly explains the reason why Aero contractor airplane could not depart Abuja for Lagos at 3:40pm because of the closure of the Lagos airport. This is criminal and one can only imagine the deep sorrow ad-in-finitum (without limit) that the families of these unfortunate Nigerians and other nationals are currently plagued into. Grief that is so thick in the air, that one can cut through with a knife...rooted soul searching. Yes we have to and yes we can; beginning from our immediate homes and While we pray for the repose of the souls of the departed, we need as a nation to thoroughly do some deep ommunities.. with time this will snowball into our National consciousness. For how long are we going to sacrifice the lives of our dear brothers and sisters and by extension mortgage the future of their/our children, just for the comfort of our leaders? For a 15 minutes ritual of plane take-off, an airport was shut for 2 hours because our "DEAR FIRST LADY" was scheduled to return to Abuja.. OH merciful God, help Nigeria in Distress!''

NIgerians need to know what happened?who closed the airstrip for two hours on sunday june 3,2012huh?
