UGHELLI—A male resident of Orumala Street in Ughelli metropolis of Delta State, Mukoro Ovie, who was rumored to be involved in online scams, popularly known as Yahoo-Yahoo, ran amok and stabbed himself to death with a broken bottle, weekend. Knife stab The incident occurred at the Oteri town hall in Ughelli North council area of the state, where the deceased had ran to after his mother took him to a church in the community for prayers, following his strange behaviour days before the incident.

Late Ovie, popularly known as Close Betting, who was in his early 20s, had celebrated his birthday last month at a popular hotel in the Ekuigbo area of Ughelli, where he had lavished huge sums on drinks for those who attended, according to close friends. Though circumstances leading to his death were still sketchy as at press time, sources said he suddenly started behaving strangely a few days before he snapped and killed himself. A resident of the community said: “All attempts to stop him were fruitless, as he charged at anyone that tried to restrain him.

He continued using the broken bottle on himself until he slumped and died.” The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added: “He ran away from the church his mother took him to for prayers to the community town hall and started stabbing himself. “The more sympathisers tried to stop him from continuously stabbing himself, the more he did so.” Police story Confirming the incident, a senior police officer at the Ughelli Area Command, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, stated that they (policemen) were called to the scene of the incident by the Oteri community chairman after attempts to restrain the deceased failed.

He said: “Before we got to the scene, he had stabbed himself in the throat and had lost too much blood, after which he slumped and died and his remains deposited in the mortuary.”

But is the churches not worshipping same God..Let assume you travelled and you can't find your church denomination around you there...are you saying it's bad to worship in the church you find available?

I noticed Christians find it difficult to worship in any church they see around them compare to how Muslims do observe prayer in any available mosque close to them.

What do you think could be the cause of this?..Why can't a member of CCC wear his/her white garment and attend church service at RCCG?

Oyo state Government has ordered the immediate closure of Agodi Zoo over the killing of an attendant by one of the lions in the zoo.

A statement issued by the Executive Secretary, Bureau of Investment Promotion, Mr Yinka Fatoki, in Ibadan on Saturday said that the decision was to safeguard the lives of patrons.

It added that government had also taken the decision based on a report received from AM & C, the company managing the zoo.

The statement read, “One of the lions at the zoo had accidentally attacked one of the attendants, Mr Hamzat Oyekunle popularly known as Baba Olorunwa.

“Oyekunle was reported to have later died from injuries sustained from the incident.”

It said that the lions have been evacuated pending further investigations.

“The incident is unfortunate and sad as the deceased had fed the lions for over five years.

“He was known to have had a very good relationship with all the animals in the zoo.”

The state government’s representatives visited the family of the deceased to commiserate with them.

A woman who paid an assassin to murder her has sued the killer for failing to deliver as agreed. The Brazilian woman whose name was withheld was reported to be suffering from chronic anxiety-depressive disorder. The Brazilian woman who sued the killer for ‘breaching consumer rights‘ had already equally tried but failed to kill herself several times, according to reports, before engaging the services of the killer. The woman told a court in Taguatinga, near Brazil’s capital Brasilia, that the hired killer had breached her ‘consumer rights’ and therefore, she is demanding for her money back.

According to the court, the woman paid the killer some money upfront and promised the killer to take her car as part of the payment arrangement when the job is done but that the killer varnished without “delivering the service,” court papers reavelaed. However, making his judgment on the case, the judge said the agreement lacks legal backing since it was not signed at a public notary office. And he said document they signed in which ownership of the woman’s car was passed to the alleged assassin wasn’t proof that he had received the vehicle as payment for killing her. He therefore dismissed the case saying, even if the agreement was entered through the legal process, it would still had been regarded illegal because the act under negotiation was in itself, illegal.

The wife of a Naval Rating committed suicide over a misunderstanding with her husband at Igando area of Lagos State.

The deceased, Mrs Omojoye, reportedly left home on Sunday, saying she was going to church. Apprehension set in when she did not return home. Her husband, Seaman Band Omojoye, reportedly went to the church, only to be told that his wife did not come to the church. Efforts to reach her on her phone failed until yesterday, when she came home looking ruffled, saying she was kidnapped. Neighbours said that her husband disbelieved her, insisting that she was lying. It was learned that an argument ensued, during which she was said to have gone inside their room and swallowed insecticide. Apparently thinking she was pretending to be sleeping, her husband ignored her, only to discover later that she was motionless.

When contacted, the Western Naval Command Information Officer, Lieutenant Commander Chinwe Umar, said the Rating was in police custody, adding that investigations were ongoing. Her Lagos State Police Command counterpart, Dolapo Badmus, also confirmed the incident, but could not give further details. Dolapo said: “I don’t have much information on it, but I can tell you that investigation is ongoing.”

Osogbo – Justice Adedotun Onibokun of Osun State High Court in Ile-Ife on Wednesday sentenced one Fatai Jimoh and his wife, Lateefat to death by hanging for murder. Delivering judgment, Onibokun said the prosecutor had proven his case beyond any reasonable doubt, saying that the convicts were guilty of the three-count charge of murder, conspiracy and armed robbery.

The judge consequently sentenced the couple to death by hanging for the murder of one Bukola Taiwo at Ikeketu Village near Garage Olode in Ife South Local Government Area of Osun on August 12, 2009. The Prosecutor and State Counsel, Mr Moses Faremi, had earlier told the court that the deceased was strangulated by the couple in her rented room and her head was smashed with a sledge hammer. He said that after killing the deceased, who was a palm oil seller from Ibadan, the convicts stole her wallet containing the sum of N48, 780. Faremi said the offence was contrary to Section (1) 316 Law of Osun State and the Robbery and Firearms (special provision) Act, Cap R11 Law of Federation of Nigeria 2000. The convicts were arraigned on a three-count charge of Murder, Conspiracy and Armed Robbery.
