Chapter Ten

:A story of Harry Enomamien

Coolface30@gmail.com

Abigail met Lola in her office the following day after receiving a call from her. "Oh sorry I'm late." She said as she entered Lola's office.

Lola stared at her with a smile. "What kept you so long, I'm supposed to be home by now."

Abigail settled down in the chair. "Traffic."

"I thought as much."

"So how far have you gone?" Abigail asked.

Lola leaned back in her chair. "There is only one person on John's friends list whose birthday falls on that date, and her name is Jessica. She's a medica doctor. I knew her."

"Really? Did you contact her?" Abigail asked.

"Yes, but she didn't reply." Lola said.

"How do we get to her?"

"I don't know her location, so getting to her won't be easy." Lola said. "But I know someone who can lead us to her."

"Who?"

"Her junior sister. Her shop is very close to this place." Lola leaned back in her chair. "Only if she would accept to take us to her sister."

Abigail pulled out a breath. "We will have to find a way to convince her."

"How?"

"Since she's not aware of our plan, you could get a few details about her sister from her." Abigail said. "Maybe where she works."

Lola nodded. "That's a great idea, I could do that in a way that she wouldn't suspect."

"Great."

Lola leaned forward. "How about James? Did you find anything?"

"I found out he had been called back into the family after his brother's death. I'm still trying to get his address, but the one giving me information about him is not making it easy to release his address."

"Who is the person?"

"Andrew, John's friend." Abigail said. "I believe you knows him."

"Andrew? The one working in John's father's company?"

"Exactly."

Lola smiled to the remembrance of Andrew. He was a nice guy to her during her time with John. He was the only one she always met whenever she had issues with John. Andrew was the only one interfered in their relationship. "Aww...it has been long time since I saw him. How is he?"

"He's doing great," Abigail smiled. "He's now the chief accountant of the company."

"Oh that's beautiful." Lola's smile widened. "I'm happy for him. he's sort a hard working guy, one of the reasons that made John liked him."

"He knows about all the investigation from the beginning." Abigail said. "But he's kind of scared of James. He told me to give up on it, that James is too big for me handle."

"Really?"

"Yes, but he has been helping financially since the very start of this investigation."

Lola nodded. "That's good."

"I'm trying to convince him to give me James address, Is James truly that degerous?"

Lola leaned back in her chair. "I knew him as a cultist during my years in school, and he committed a lot of atrocities, but his father always bailed him out."

"I see," Lola nodded. "What do you think we should do about him?"

"We have to do proper investigation before confronting him. And if he's responsible for the murder, then he won't escape it."

"Sure." Lola said picked up her ringing phone from her table. She answered the call, speak with her caller for few seconds before ending it, then met Abigail's eyes. "I will have to be going. I'll try to contact the young lady, I will let you know after doing that."

"Alright," Abigail pulled herself up. "I will let know my next plan on tracking James if I've gotten his address."

They both walked out of Lola's office.

After Abigail left Lola's office, she drove straight down to John's grave. She had planned visiting the place the night before, and there she was, with tears rolling down her cheek, she stood at the front of the grave, with flowers in her arms, staring at John's picture as if he was there with her.

She slowly placed the flower on the grave top, then went down on her kneels, and wiped the tears off her face.

"John?" She said soberly. "John? Answer me. I know you're there. Wake up John, this is not the time to sleep, you have to help me find who murdered you."

Abigail's tears was flowing freely. "Arise and review your murderer, I can't do this alone. You need to come out and avenge your death." She said, weeping. "John? Talk to me. I know you're there, please show me who killed you. I'm doing this for you. John?" Abigail placed her hands on the grave, and wept for a very long moment.

At once the sky became dark and a cold wind went through the environment.

"Abigail?"

Abigail turned toward the voice, shocked to see John smiling at her from afar. She narrowed her eyes in surprise. "John."

"Come." John said.

Without thinking twice, Abigail ran toward him and threw herself into his arms. "John."

John held her tight. "Abigail? I missed you."

"I missed you too," she stared in his eyes. "Where have you been?"

John smiled. "I've been around. How are you?"

"I'm fine, I'm was so worried about you." She said and buried her head in his chest, feeling happy to see him.

"What took you so long?" John asked, his voice was very soft. "You know we're supposed to attend a birthday party."

"I'm sorry I was at the saloon when you called."

"It's okay," he said. "It's good you're here now, it's never too late for anything."

Abigail nodded. "Yes."

"We need to get going," he said. "Jessica won't forgive me if I didn't arrive on time."

Abigail nodded and they both walked toward a white jeep that was parked at the front of the house.

"I forgets something inside," John said. "Could you help me get it?"

"What?"

"My wristwatch." He said. "It's inside the flower pot in my bedroom."

Abigail laughed. "How could you keep a wristwatch in a flower pot?"

"It fell inside, and I let it be." He smiled.

"Okay let me quickly go get it." Abigail said and walked toward the front door.

She pulled the front door opened and went straight to John's bedroom. She opened the bedroom door and stopped, her eyes widened in a big shock. Right in front of her was John, in his pool of blood. "John!!" She screamed.

Abigail's eyes snapped opened at once and quickly pulled herself up. What? She had fallen asleep. How come? She checked her wristwatch, and realised she had fell asleep for almost an hour. She shivered as a harsh cold consumed her body. Abigail widened her eyes toward John's picture in disbelief. She wanted to turn and leave, but her legs were too heavy to move. All she could do was staring at John's picture, apparently caught up in her own thought.

Finally, she let out a long hard breath and walked toward her car, then stopped and turned, stared at John's grave for few seconds before entering the car.

As she was driving home, the memory of her dream at the grave side filled her mind, playing it over and over again, trying to put meaning to it. The dream didn't point out anything significant. A wristwatch in a flower pot? What's that got to do with the investigation? Attending Jessica's party? She let out a soft breath.

Why didn't John just go ahead and tell her the killer? She thought about the dream for a long moment. Maybe John reviewed himself to her just to assure her he's with her. Oh yes, thats it, she thought. No, John mentioned Jessica's birthday party, and that was the day he was murdered. Did Jessica knows something about his death? Or could she be the one that murdered John? A lot went through Abigail's mind on her way home.

She rolled the car into her compound at the front of her apartment, then got out of it. Feeling very tired, she walked toward the front door of her apartment and pulled it opened. Stepping inside her sitting room, her eyes went wide in disbelief, everything in her sitting were scattered. "What..."

Fear gripped her spirit....

Chapter Nine

Juliet widened her eyes in disbelief, finding herself in a very dark forest. All she could hear was the night bird chirping. She raised up her head and surprised to see Abigail, she was tied to a tree. "Abigail? What are you doing here?"

"Go away." Abigail yelled. "They're going to kill you."

"No I won't leave you here," Juliet advanced toward her. "Everyone is out there looking for you."

"It's too late," Abigail's voice sounded like many voices. "Just get out of here, they would kill you."

Juliet got to her side, trying to loose the rope around Abigail. At once, she was dragging Abigail's hand to pull her from the tree, but something else was also dragging Abigail in the opposite direction. She held Abigail with all her strength, but the power competing with her was overpowering her.

Slowly, Abigail was dragged away by the force that held her, dragging her into darkness.

"No!!" Juliet cried out from her sleep.

Her husband, Segun, jecked up from sleep. "Juliet? What happened?"

Juliet stared around the bedroom and let out a long hard breath. She had been dreaming.

"Juliet?"

She Segun's gaze. "I had a terrible nightmare."

Segun let out an explosive breath. "God..you scared me."

"Abigail.." Juliet whispered the word thoughtfully and pulled herself from bed, helding toward the sitting room.

"Juliet?" Segun stared at the wall clock, it was few minutes pass midnight. He got out of bed and followed her. "Where are you going?"

"Abigail is in danger," she said and picked up her cell phone from where she left it in the sitting room before going to bed.

"Abigail?"

She quickly dialed Abigail's number, ignoring Segun's question. "Hello."

"Juliet," Abigail said from the other end of the cell phone.

"I had a terrible nightmare about you," She said. "Please listen to me, you have to give this up."

"Take it easy, Juliet." Abigail's voice sound so weak.

"I don't want to loose you," Juliet said. "You have to give it up now before it's too late."

Silence fell at the other end of the cell phone. "Alright I'll see you during the day."

Without anymore words, Juliet ended the call and stared at Sugun who was standing with his hands folded over his chest.

"What is going on?" Segun asked.

"Abigail is investigating John's murder." Juliet went slowly into the chair.

Segun felt his eyes narrowed. "Investigating what? How on earth would she do that? And why didn't you tell me all those while?"

Juliet stared at him silently and leaned her head against the chair as the image of her dream flashed through her mind.

*********

Through the opened window above the dressing table, Abigail watched the last of the day's sunlight slipped through the horizon. Her mind was many miles away from reality, giving up on the investigation was something she couldn't do, and she always fail each time she disregard Juliet's advice, she had got to know that a long time ago. She let out a long hard breath and moved toward the bed, sitting on the edge.

Part of her was losing it. For the first time since she made the decision, she felt like giving up. She only dated John for four mouths, so many things she didn't know about him before he was murdered. Though, she was loved and cared for, but she had paid heavily for it. For all the love she had received, her trip abroad with John, a diamond necklace worth fifteen million naira she received as a gift, were all paid for with many years in jail.

There she was, not in jail, but in her richly furnished apartment, bought for her by Juliet. What else did she want? Her friend had made life worth living for her, giving her a multimillion naira business. Why not give it up and enjoy the wealth around her? Abigail was so confused, a bit scared of what Juliet had told her over the phone. She remembered Andrew's warning about James, the guy could be dangerous. She have no doubt he had murdered his brother, and if he could do that, he might even do worse.

She slowly closed her eyes, letting out a soft breath. Getting to James wasn't going to be easy, if only she could kill him, no, she wouldn't. What if she get caught? She wouldn't want to be back in jail, she thought.

She pulled herself up, glanced at the wall clock, it was getting to 7pm. She was hungry, and needed to go out for dinner.

Minutes later, she rolled her car into the parking space of a fast food restaurant, just few blocks from her apartment. She got out of the car and walked inside, then ordered a takeaway fried rice and chicken. She leaned her elbows on the countertop, waiting for her order.

She deliberately keep her head down as she collected her order, having a strong feeling that the guy at the middle of the restaurant was going to come up to her, because he had been paying close attention. She had managed not to look at him. Though the guy was very handsome, really good looking.

"Hi."

It was a nice voice. She pulled her head and met his gaze, then waited a few seconds before she reply. "Good evening."

The guy took a step closer with a really nice smile. "My name is Kevin, I've been watching you for few minutes, hope you don't mind me leaving some few words with you."

Abigail met his gaze with a polite hint of a smile. She hadn't thought of starting a relationship with a man, not now that she has a mission to complete. But she couldn't ignored a very good looking man like him. "If you won't take much of my time." She said.

They walked out of the supermarket and make small idle talk as they walked toward Abigail's car.

"I would be happy if you offered me your friendship." The guy said.

Abigail smiled. "That won't be a problem, but if you're looking for love, I would advice you to look somewhere else."

He pulled out a soft laugh. "What about lunch tomorrow?"

"I have an appointment tomorrow." She lied, lending her back against her car.

The guy nodded. "You don't mind if I call you Abby?"

"Actually, I mind. I would prefer that you call me Abigail."

He laughed politely. "Alright, I really appreciate you giving me some of your time, Abigail."

"You're welcome."

"What about Sunday evening?" He asked.

Abigail gave a small laugh. "Okay, no problem."

His face brighten up with a smile. "Alright then, I will give you a call. Can I have you number, please?"

They exchanged phone numbers and Abigail met his eyes. "I don't entertain night calls."

He nodded. "Thanks."

She just smiled, then entered her car and put on the ignition while he watched her drove away.

He walked toward his car, pulled the front door opened and got inside. He stared at his watch, then picked his phone to make a call. "Got her."

"Great job, Spenky. Make sure she don't escape." James said from the other end of the cell phone.

"She just left." Spenky said.

"What? Why would you let that happened?"

"Plans changed."

"Your plans changed doesn't mean mine have to." James said. "Get her now."

"Not now."

"I don't pay you to be a caward or a consultant. I pay you to execute my order."

"Too risky. Too many people around."

Silence fell at the other end.  "Alright, do what you can to get her here as quick as possible, you would be compensated appropriately."

"Right. We'll speak again in few hours." Spenky ended the call.

A Story Of Harry Enomamien

Abigail didnt like suprises, and hearing Andrew's voice on the other end of her cell phone at seven o'clock friday morning was a big surprise. Andrew was calling from his car on the street in front of her apartment. She quickly put on her dress and brushed her teeth. When she pulled the door opened, Andrew was there.

"Good morning."

"Andrew," Abigail said with a smile
"What are you doing here so early?" She stepped aside and gesture for him to enter.

"I'm on my way to work. I decided to drop by, to see how you're doing." Andrew said. "How was your night?"

"Splendid." Abigail smiled. "Have a sit, I'm going to make some tea. Would you like some?"

"Sure." Andrew replied and settled down in the chair. "Nice place."

"Thanks."

Abigail walked into her kitchen and back in few minutes time with two cups of tea. She handed one to him and settled with the other.

Andrew took a few sip from his cup and placed it on a small table beside him. "How about your meeting with Lola?"

"Went well." She took a sip from her cup.

"What's the latest?"

"It was about James," Abigail said.

Andrew narrowed his eyes. "James? What about him?"

"I found out he was having quarrel with John before John was murdered." She took another sip from her cup. "Are you aware?"

Andrew lifted his cup of tea. "I'm not aware of it, who told you?"

"I found out through Lola." She said. "What do you know about James?"

Andrew took a sip from his cup of tea and met Abigail's gaze. "He's a scoundrel," Andrew said with disgust. "So arrogant."

"I heard he was disowned by his father."

Andrew pulled his gaze away and lifted his cup. "That's true. He sold one of his father's company that he was in charged of. That was the reason he was disowned."

"What happened to him after John's death?"

"What did you expect. He was the only child left of his parents, so he was forgiven and was called back home." Andrew said. "His father won't want an outsider to inherit his wealth and his throne."

Abigail nodded. "For that reason, don't you think he could kill his brother to regain his position?"

"Why would he do that? Besides John confirmed he was stabbed by his lover, a female, have you forgotten?"

"I know but I suspect the call was made by the killer."

Andrew let out a soft breath and slowly took a sip from his cup of tea. "Why would you think so?"

"Because John had no other girl he was doing out with apart from me before he was murdered. If an ex-girlfriend would murder him, it would be Lola whom he had dated for years before me, but she wasn't the killer."

Andrew was silent for few seconds. "John was my friend but I don't usually follow him around town. So for that reason, I won't be so sure he wasn't going out with someone else."

"Was he a flirt?" Abigail asked.

"Not really,  but you can't trust men you know."

"Through John's facebook account I found out few weeks to John's death, James sent him a message asking of his share of gold they inherited from their grandfather, but John refused to agree with him and James last message was a threat to John."

Andrew narrowed his eyes toward her. "Did you hack his account?"

"No, Lola knew his password."

Andrew nodded and took a sip. "So you think James could kill his brother over gold?"

"It worth millions," Abigail said. "That's a lot of money."

Andrew leaned back in his chair. "I doubt it."

"I'm suspecting him."

"Because of the message?" He met her gaze. "That's not enough to think he murdered his brother."

"Not only that." She said. "Since he was disowned by his father, don't you think he could do that to get back his position?  And I remembered the police talked about the killer made away with his gold and money, have you forgotten?"

Andrew was silent for few seconds. "You're making sense. Even if he truly killed John as you suspected, how would you prove it?"

"I'll have to prove it, one way or the other."

Andrew took a sip from his cup and placed it on the table, then met her gaze. "It seems you don't know who you're talking about. James isn't an ordinary man. This guy is very rich, and he has all the connections you could think off. It won't be easy making case against him."

"I have a plan," she said and lifted her cup of tea. "He won't escape it if he truly killed his brother."

"That's only if you have a strong evidence against him. Don't ever think that message would be enough to prove him."

"I know. But I have to create an evidence against him."

"How?" He asked. "Kidnap him as you did to Lola?"

Abigail reached up to brush away some hairs from her face. "I have another plan."

"Tell me." He asked.

"I can't tell you, maybe later."

Andrew let out an exaggerated breath. "I wish you could give this up."

"Why?"

"Look, Abigail." He said. "This guy is dangerous. If he finds out you're after him, he could do anything to harm you."

Abigail smiled. "I'm prepared."

Andrew leaned back in his chair. "Just my advice."

"Thanks, I appreciate it," she said. "But I won't give up. Not now that I'm making progress."

"I'm only concerned about your safety."

"I know." She pulled herself up, then picked up a remote and flicked on the TV set. "Feel free to watch the morning news. I'm going to take a shower."

"Thanks, but I'll have to be on my way to the office." He pulled himself up."I will give you a call later in the day."

Abigail smiled. "Alright. Have a nice day."

"Thanks, and you too."

Abigail escorted him outside the compound to where his car was parked, and waved him goodbye.

******

The rain took a different tone as it increased it's speed from a warm fall to a heavy down pour. It was accompanied with a thunder strike, the type of strike that would make you think whether God was angry with the wicked. It lights flashed through James home office as he stood by the window, holding a cell phone to his ear.

He controlled himself even as range threatened to consume him. "Why didn't I know about it?" He said into the phone.

He listened to his caller a few more minutes before ending the call, then turned and met the eyes of his bodyguard who had been standing on the door way for the last few minutes. "Call me spenky and call Jude on phone, tell him I need to see him immediately." He said calmly.

"Yes sir."

James watched him closed the door and sat down, trying to keep his breath slow and easy. He couldn't block the thought that was crowding his head. They have failed him. With all he had invested to get a simple information, it was all a waste. Those guys will have to pay for it. He closed his eyes and slow his breathing further, trying to parse the information into a manageable pieces.

He snapped his eyes opened and slammed his arm on the table in front of him. "Damn."

The door slowly opened to review Spenky, his personal assistant. "Sir?"

James met his gaze with cold eyes. "I remember telling you to keep eyes on that lady, Abigail."

Spenky stared at him thoughtfully. "I did has you have instructed."

"You did nothing." James couldn't control the anger in his voice. "She's out of jail."

Spenky felt his eyes narrowed. He wanted to speak, then closed his mouth and pulled his gaze toward the floor. How come he didn't know about it? None of the guys informed him, and he had offered them a large sum of money to get the information on Abigail's release, but he got none. He know James is not a fool, he knows what he's talking about.

James turned his back against him and slowly moved toward the window. "I want you to find her. I don't care how you do it."

"Yes sir." Spenky said, and left.

James walked back to his chair, burning in anger. He was not happy about the information he has just received. He had waited patiently for Abigail's release, how come he missed it. He closed his eyes slowly, keeping his breathing slow and steady. He must do whatever it takes to find her. He doesn't mind if takes months or years.

He was reaching for his phone when the sound of the door caught his attention. He stared at his bodyguard as he opened the door and stood at the door way.

"Jude is here."

"Let him in."

His bodyguard replied with a nod and gently closed the door behind him.

"What's so urgent that couldn't wait," Jude said as he got in. "That I have to pass through this heavy rain?"

"Take a sit." James said.

"I know you're not a man for surprise, James I thought we're supposed to meet tomorrow?" Jude said as he sat in front of him.

James met his gaze. "I know."

"So what's up?"

"The lady I told you about some months ago." James said.

Jude leaned back in his chair thoughtfully. "The one in jail?"

"She's out of jail." James got to his feet. "And I didn't know about it. I just got informed."

Jude watched him silently. He could tell through James voice that he was boiling mad. "For how long had she been released?"

James picked up a pack of cigarette from the table and moved toward the window. The light of thunder strikes flashed on his face as he placed a stick of cigarette in his mouth, lighting it. He inhaled deeply and slowly aim the smoke toward the glass of the window. He took another slow drag and turned to face Jude. "I want you to work on this personally. I want you to find her and bring her here. I will compensate you greatly."

Jude was silent for few seconds, apparently caught up in his own thought. "What if she had left the city?" He pulled himself up, and walked toward James. "Do you think she would remain in this city? If she dose, I will surely track her."

James turned to face him. "No matter where she is, I want you to get her and bring her to me."

"Then, everyone is going to contribute."

"I don't care."

Jude stared straight in his eyes. "What did you say her name is?"

"Abigail." James said. "Abigail Johnson."

Chapter Seven

Lola paced the sitting room silently as the event of the day played itself over and over again in her mind. If it wasn't Abigail that murdered John, then who did it? All those while she believed the news that it was Abigail that murdered John, and was ready to let her pay for it. Would she be out there seeking for John's killer if she had killed him? Abigail was innocently, she was sad for the pain the innocent woman had paid for a crime she knew nothing about. She was ready to give Abigail all her support to help trace the killer.

The fact that John told the police he was stabbed by his lover was making her so confused. She didn't know him to be a flirt for the years they had spent together. Who is this lover that killed John? Could the police report be real? Or was it a sort of plan made by the killer? She moved closer to window, staring  at the full moon.

"Why are you not sleeping?" Her husband walked into the sitting room, stiffing a yawn.

Lola stared at him over her shoulder, then pulled her gaze back to the moon. "I couldn't catch a sleep."

Her husband glanced at the wall clock. "It almost 2am, come on let's go to sleep."

"I'm not feeling sleep," she turned to face him.

"What's the matter?"

"Nothing. I was just thinking of something..about my work."

"You can think about it when the night is over," her husband said. "But for now sweetheart, you need a sleep to help you during the day."

"Not now," her voice was soft. "I just want to be here alone for a while."

Her husband stared at her for few seconds. "You didn't tell me what happened during the day." He took a step forward.

"I thought I told you." Lola said.

"Angel told me you were crying. What happened?"

"I told you," she met her husband's gaze. "I was only joking with her."

Her husband let out a breath. He knew Lola was hiding something from him. "You've been acting very strange since that moment, right here you're standing instead of you to be sleeping, and you're telling me nothing is wrong?"

Lola pulled out a long breath. She never thought their daughter could be sensible enough to say that to her husband. "I said nothing happened. I'm here thinking of what to offer on my program tomorrow."

"And that is giving you sleepless night?"

Lola slowly pulled her face away from him silently.

Her walked close her and pulled her into his arms. "We've been married for years, and I've never seen you like this."

Lola drew her gaze away from him but still in his arms. How would he react if she told him what happened? He wouldn't see it the way she has seen it. And being a lawyer, he would want to make case with Abigail, and she does not want that to happen.

" Tell what me what happened." Her husband said in a very soft voice.

Lola pulled herself out of his arms. "Why are not believing me? I already told you I'm trying to get new ideas that would interest my viewers. Dave?"

"OK, ok." Her husband turned towards the bedroom. "Have all the best idea you could you get, but join me in bed as soon as possible."

Lola stared at him silently as he walked into the bedroom, then turned toward a computer that sat on a small table at the corner of the sitting room. After putting on the computer, she decided to log on to John's email account, hoping he hadn't change the password she knew when they were still dating. She got to gmail and typed in John's password, then waited a few seconds for the processing, and luckily the mailbox opened. "Thank God." She whispered the words.

Checking through the messages in the inbox, they all pointed out nothing but emails from his company and newsletters from different websites. She sighed and kept scolling down through the messages, trying to find a clue to John's murder.

After a long moment of searching, she logged out, and logged on to his Facebook account. She came across a message that caught her eyes, sent to John by his twin brother. She clicked on it and began to read it.

The message pointed out how is brother was asking of his share of the gold they inherited from their grandfather, and how John had refused to comply with him. She got to know through their conversation that the gold was worth millions.

She leaned back and thought over it for a very long moment.. Could James have killed his brother because of that? And why didn't John comply with him? She pulled herself up, pacing the sitting room. John wasn't killed over nothing, someone must have killed him over something special. Could it be over the gold? Could James be the murderer? What about the phone call John made to the police before he gave up the ghost? She was so confused,  not knowing whether to suspect James or not.

She shook her head in disagreement, coming to conclusion that the call made to the police was not made by John. "James..." She said in a low voice, then picked up her cell phone to call Abigail.

"Hello. It's me Lola," she said into the phone.

"Lola," Abigail's voice sound weak and sleepy. "Why are you calling me at this time of the night?"

"We need to talk."

"Talk? where and why?"

"Let's meet in my office at noon."

"Alright, I will be there."

Lola ended the call and stared at the wall clock, it was getting to 3am, she turned and walked out of the sitting room.

******

Abigail left home the following day to meet Lola in her office. One side of her was telling her if Lola's call wasn't a setup, that she need to be careful. She plugged the earplugs from her phone into her ears and leaned back against the seat of a taxi and stared out through the car window, trying not to think about what her mind was telling her. She's not a caward, and she was not ready to become one, not now. With all her heart she focused on the music, turning up the volume.

About 30 minutes later, she got down from the taxi, stared up the tall storey building of Lola working place before she walked into the reception.

A young lady met Abigail's gaze as she walked in. "You're welcome madam, how may I help you?"

"I'm here to meet Lola Daniels," Abigail said with a smile.

"She's on air right now, she'll be out in fifteen minutes time." The lady said in a soft voice.

"Alright I'll wait."

The lady smiled. "Have a sit, I will inform her."

She sat down gently, trying not to make eye contact with other visitors and let her eyes rest on a small frame that was hung on the wall. What would it be like if she succeeded in finding the killer. She would gain a lot of fame, and also cleared her name from the society black book.

She thought about the pain and shame she went through during the time John was murdered. The memory flooded her mind, feeling sad about it. Anger surged through her as she thought about it. For that reason, she thought of not backing off. Someone set her up, and she must find the bastard. If she couldn't get an evidence to nail the killer, she would kill the person.

"Abigail?"

The sweet radio voice of Lola brought Abigail back to reality. She raised up her head to see Lola walking towards her. She managed a smile and pulled herself up.

"Sorry I was busy," Lola said with a smile. "Let's go to my office."

They walked out of the reception and took a lift to the tenth floor, to an office allocated for Lola.

"Please sit down." Lola said as they got into her office.

"Thanks."

"Do you care for a drink?"

Abigail shook her head with a soft smile. "No, thanks."

Lola settled in her chair. "I went through John's facebook account last night and I found a message sent to him from his twin brother."

Abigail leaned forward. "What dose it talk about?"

"Gold," Lola met her gaze.

"Gold?"

"There was a gold they inherited from there grandfather. According to their coversation, the gold was with John and James was asking of his share."

"Did he get his share?"

"No. John told him he has no right to the gold." Lola leaned back in her chair. "James last message was a threat."

"What kind of threat?"

"That he would get his share of the gold by all means." Lola leaned forward. "Don't you think he could kill his brother over a gold worth millions of money?"

"It is possible," Abigail said. "But what about John's call? He didn't mention his brother, he said his girlfriend."

"Do you really think that call made to the police was made by John? I doubt it."  Lola said. "John wasn't a man that double date. I knew that about him long before we broke up. Whoever he gives his heart to, he gives it all. If you're not the killer, then something is wrong somewhere. That's why I don't believe he made the call."

Abigail was silent for few seconds. "My friend once mentioned it, could it be true?"

Lola leaned forward and picked up a pen from her table thoughtfully. "The killer could make the call. Maybe the person knew about your coming to John's house, and the killer used you to bail out."

Abigail stared at her thoughtfully. "It could be true."

"I suspect." Lola said. "If what we're suspecting is true, then the killer could be someone very closed to John. How did you get to his house on the day he was murdered?"

"John called me on phone." Abigail said thoughtfully. "We were to attend one of his friend birthday party, and by the time I got there, I found him dead."

Lola nodded. "I suspect that person was with him when he called you."

"Maybe." Abigail said. "How well do you know James?"

"He's a son of a bitch." Lola said. "The last time I heard of him was when he sold one of his father's company and relocated abroad. He lavished the money in just two years and returned home asking his father for forgiveness."

"Was he forgiven?"

"No," Lola leaned back in her chair. "His father disowned him, and he became a burden to John, asking him money every now and then."

Abigail nodded. "I came to know John was a prince after his death."

"He didn't tell you?"

"No."

"He was a prince, the next to the throne."

"I could see James have many reasons to kill him." Abigail leaned forward. "Since they're the only children of their parent as I was told by John's friend."

"Yes they are." Lola leaned back.

"I saw him sometimes last month, thinking he was John.

"Really? Did you confront him?"

"I missed him before I could get to him, he entered into an event center, too crowded to find him." Abigail leaned back. "I later finds out he was his twin brother."

Lola pulled out a soft laugh. "They look very much alike. When I started going out with John, I hardly recognised him from his brother."

Abigail thought silently for few seconds. "Since he was disowned by his father, and being the only children of their parent, I suspect he could kill his brother to regain his position in the family."

"That's one the reason why I'm suspecting him." Lola said.

"I will have to find out, but I don't think that message he sent to John would be enough to prove him."

"It won't," Lola met her eyes. "At least it could get us somewhere if we involved a lawyer to look into the case."

Abigail nodded. "It will."

"Which of his friend was holding the birthday party you were supposed to attend with John?"

"He didn't tell me," Abigail said. "He only told me we're attending a birthday party."

"Do you remember the date he was murdered?"

Abigail narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. "It was on the third of March."

Lola let her chair returned to upright and business like position, then leaned towards her computer monitor. "I will have to check John's friends on facebook one by one to find who's birthday he was attending on that day."

"Good," Abigail said. "I will find out more about James. Keep me informed on any information."

Lola met her gaze. "Sure."

Abigail pulled herself up. "I'll take my leave. Thanks for the information." She ended with a smile.

"You're welcome."  Lola smiled and pulled herself up to escort her.

Chapter Six

Abigail lifted a glass of water to her lips before picking her ringing phone off the table. She was in a restaurant with Andrew. "Hello."

"We've got her," came the voice from the other end.

"Good job," Abigail said with a smile. "Put the camera in place I will be there in the next 30 minutes." She ended the call and met Andrew's gaze. "They've got her."

"So fast," Andrew said in surprise. "How did you do that."

Abigail smiled. "I have guys working for me."

"Are you sure this is not going to backfire, due to her personality," Andrew asked.

"Don't worry about that, I have my plan."

"What are you going to do to her?"

"To make her confess."

"And you think she would do that?"

"I told you I have a plan."

"What if she's innocent?" Andrew lifted his glass of soft drink.

"I would let her go."

"She would report the case to the police,"

"The guys I'm working with are police officers."

Andrew's face light up with a smile. "Really? That's quite interesting, how did you manage to get them involved."

"After pointing her out, on facebook, I went to an old friend of mine, a female police officer. After explaining to her, she helped me made the arrangement."

Andrew nodded. "That's brilliant, I just hope she's the killer."

Abigail pulled herself up. "I have to leave."

"I'll go with you."

"Not necessary, I'll talk to you on phone."

"Alright," Andrew got to his feet.

They both walked out of the restaurant to where Andrew's car was parked. "Where do you suggest I drop you?"

"Taxi park."

*******

Lola was locked up in a room somewhere away from the city. She paced the room silently feeling worried about the situation. She wasn't surprised about her kidnapping because it wasn't the first time a celebrity like her would be kidnapped. The thought of her friend that was kidnapped some years back flashed through her mind, how her family paid ransom to get her freedom from the hands of kidnappers. She knew her case won't be different, her husband is going to pay a lot of money to get her out of there because she's rich and famous.

What was bothering her most was her 3 years old daughter. Did Sarah really take her home as she had promised, or was it just some sort of plan to get her comply? She was so worried pacing the empty room.

The sound of the door caught her attention as it opened to review Abigail and Sarah walking into the room. Lola stared at them with a frown, then turned her back against them, staring at the wall. "Instead of keeping me here, just name your price and let me settle you guys so I could get out here." She said, then turned to meet Sarah's gaze. "Where is my daughter?"

"Your daughter is very safe," Sarah said.

"You promised to take her home. Didn't you?"

Sarah didn't reply.

Abigail stared at Lola for few seconds before she spoke. "Do you know this person?" She handed her a photograph.

Lola looked at the photo, surprised. "This person is dead."

"Who was he to you before his death?" Abigail asked.

Lola stared at Abigail thoughtfully before meeting the eyes of Sarah, then back to the picture once again. "Why all this questions?"

"Just answer," Sarah said.

Lola stared at the picture again. "His name is John. He was my boyfriend before his death, though we had broke up before he was murdered. Was this the reason why you guys kept me here? To ask me questions about a dead man?"

Abigail collected the picture from her. "I want to know the reason why he was killed."

"How am I supposed to know?" Lola said with a frown.

"Because you murdered him." Abigail's voice was harsh.

"What?" Lola said. "That's not true, if you think I murdered John then you're dealing with the wrong person."

"Don't lie to me," Abigail yelled in anger. "Do you think you can get away with it?"

"Enough," Lola yelled back. "Why would I kill him? For what reason?"

"Because he dumped you for another lady," Abigail said. "Wasn't that the reason?"

"Yes he dumped me, but that is not enough reason for me to kill a man I once loved."

"Then tell us the reason why you have killed him?" Sarah said.

"Why are you bringing this on me?" Lola was boiling mad. "Didn't you know he was murdered by his girlfriend, John confirmed it himself before he died, and the lady was arrested and jailed."

"That's not true," Abigail said in annoyance. "I was framed."

"Oh," Lola narrowed her eyes toward her. "So it was you, and why did you think I killed him?"

"Because he said so, he told the police he was shot by his girlfriend," Abigail took a step forward. "If not you then tell me who killed him? If I had killed him I won't be here."

"I didn't know anything about his death," Lola was angry. "I swear I know nothing."

Abigail nodded. "I know you won't confess that easy. If you don't tell me the truth, I will kill you right here."

Lola eyes went cold. "Go ahead, kill me if that would give you peace, but I'm telling you I know nothing about John's death."

"Not only you," Abigail said. "I would also kill your daughter."

"My daughter.."

"Bring her daughter in," Abigail directed her words to Sarah.

Sarah walked out of the room and came back with Lola's daughter, the little girl run to her mother.

"My baby," Lola held her daughter in tears while the little girl held her mother tight, sobbing. "Please leave my daughter out of this, I swear I know nothing about John's death."

"I'm giving you ten seconds to save your daughter's life."

Lola held her daughter tight, she had no doubt Abigail could do it. "Please believe me."

"I'm asking you for the last time," Abigail said. "Tell me why you have killed John?"

"I'm saying the truth," Lola was in tears.

Abigail met Sarah's eyes. "Kill them."

Sarah smiled and brought out her gun.

"No you can't do this to me." Lola pleaded. "Please believe me."

Sarah raised her gun and pointed it toward Lola and her daughter.

"Wait," Lola pleaded. "Please don't shoot. I will explain. Please."

Abigail met her eyes. "Now talk."

Lola held her crying daughter closed and shook her head slowly. Where would she start from? She met Abigail's eyes. "The day I saw you with John, I was shocked, I couldn't stand on my feet. I felt betrayed, and heart broken. For many days I wept for losing John. I tried to talk to him on phone but he just wouldn't pick my calls, and he stopped calling me. I knew it was the new love he had found in you." She pause, cleaning her tears.

"One morning I paid him a visit, he was still in bed when I got there. He opened the door after many minutes of knocking. After he let me in, I asked him about our relationship, and he told me it was all over between us. I held his shirt and shook him, asking him what have I done to deserve that from him. He said he cannot marry a cheat like me."

Abigail let out a soft breath, and folded her hands over her chest.

"I was ashamed of myself," Lola continued. "I thought he didn't know about my secret affair with another man, because he always stays out of the country. He yelled at me in annoyance and asked me to leave his house. I denied it, but I never knew he had someone spying on me, he walked into his room and back with a picture of me with the man I was dating. Three different types in different locations."

"And you killed him." Abigail said.

"I walked out of his house silently and wept bitterly, knowing I could never have him back."

"How did you kill him?" Sarah asked.

"It was all my fault, because if I didn't cheat on him, he wouldn't have dumped me. Though I pleaded with him for many weeks, but he never look back at me. I had to let go. Two Months later, I heard he was murdered."

Abigail stared in annoyance but said nothing.

"I cried for many days, blaming myself for his death," tears rolled down Lola's face as she spoke. "It was all my fault. If I never cheated on him, he wouldn't have fallen into a wrong hand that murdered him. I almost killed myself. When I heard that the killer was given a light jail sentence, I was mad, I wasn't pleased. She ought to die, so I made a deal with a prison officer and paid him a lot of money to help me poisoned her, but I later heard she survived it."

Abigail narrowed her eyes in disbelief. She got poisoned few weeks after she was jailed, but luckily for her, she was quickly rushed down to the hospital, and it took her many weeks to recovered from it. "So you did that?"

Lola nodded. "I was sad you survived it, and the prison staff was not ready to help anymore, so I made a vow to kill you as soon as you're released from jail, and asked another prison officer to get me informed whenever you're released, and I promised to pay him 500 thousand for the information."

Abigail stared at her silently for many minutes. She remembered a prison officer warning her about the danger that awaits her outside on the day she was released out of jail. She pulled a long hard breath, and turned her back against Lola. With what Lola had said, she could tell she wasn't the one that killed John. Then who murdered John? She turned to face Lola. "Now you know I didn't killed John."

"Now you also know I didn't killed him," Lola said.

Abigail let out a long hard breath and met Lola's gaze. "I'm sorry for taking you through all this, there was no other way I could get the truth. It's so painful to spend years in jail for a crime I knew nothing about."

Lola met her gaze. "Please let me go, I promise nobody would know what has happened here."

Abigail stared at her silently for few seconds. "For the man you once loved, will help me in finding his killer?"

Lola stared at her thoughtfully for a long moment. "What do you want me to do?"
