Romance / Top 13 Signs Your Long Distance Flirtationship Won’t Work by havocypie: 7:15am On May 15, 2015 |
When you spot these signs in your flirtationship, it means that your little long distance ‘ship might be struggling to stay afloat. #1 You partner waits a long time before responding to you. This could be a sign that he or she is losing interest. If they used to respond to you very quickly, and that has slowed down considerably, it’s not a good sign. Flirtationships thrive on interest and enthusiasm. But if the interest and enthusiasm are only coming from you, as evidenced by tardy replies, then it may be time to abandon ‘ship. #2 They’re starting to sound bored. Once, you would regale your flirtation partner with tales of your day, and no matter how mundane it was, your partner always managed to sound excited just to hear from you. But now, gone are the questions about the minute details of your day, while the inside jokes are becoming fewer and farther in between. #3 Other people are starting to interest you more and more. Perhaps you weren’t interested in anyone else at the start of your flirtationship. This may have been why you entered into it in the first place. However, if you can’t stop ogling dudes at the bar or checking out the pretty new intern, then it could definitely mean that your interest in flirting through technology is starting to wane. #4 You are fighting a lot. Fights and arguments are tricky with long distance flings. You can’t just hold your partner or kiss them all of a sudden to settle an issue. No one wants to continuously be fighting with their partner, and if you’re more inclined to just turn your phone off than to settle your argument, then it’s a sign that your interest is declining. #5 You feel extremely frustrated about the situation. There will always be some hint of frustration in every relationship, but these are usually worked out through communication and hard work. The problem, though, is that when you mostly feel frustrated instead of excited to hear from your partner, then it may be time to call it quits. #6 You often miscommunicate. The thing with exclusively using technology to communicate is that there’s a lot of room for misunderstanding. Sometimes all you see is a screen with some text, and you don’t know if your partner means what they’re saying or if they’re being sarcastic. Take one word, one story or one expression the wrong way, and it can be an all-out fight! #7 You don’t frantically check your phone or your computer as much. If you are no longer sprinting to your phone when you hear it buzz, then it’s a sign that whatever else you’re doing holds your interest better than the person who sent you that text. Normally, getting extremely excited every time you check your phone means that you are thrilled at the possibility of talking to the person on the other end. #8 You no longer care to dress your best for a Skype date. Once, you’d have dolled up or donned your best shirt for a Skype date. You may even set up your room to make it more romantic. But now, you’re fine with wearing a ratty old shirt and relying on an unflattering light to illuminate your face. #9 The idea of a flirtationship in general is just starting to become less appealing to you. You may start to want exclusivity. You want your partner’s word that there’s only you. This indescribable relationship setup is starting to take its toll on you, and you want your partner to either commit or disconnect. #10 You stop thinking about the person as much. One of the biggest signs that you’re losing interest in your long distance flirtationship is letting your partner slip out of your mind, to the extent that you might even forget a Skype date or two. #11 You avoid social media. Avoiding social media in general could be a subconscious attempt to avoid talking to the person. You may be doing this because a part of you is ready to end the flirtationship, but you aren’t fully there yet. #12 You are starting to ask your friends about their breakups. Doing this could be a way of mentally preparing yourself, and trying to learn from their situations. One of your friends may have gone through a very similar experience, and talking about it with him or her may be providing you with the information you need to get ready for your own breakup. #13 You are spending a lot more of your free time with your friends. Back then, you’d be quick to cancel plans, when you find out that your flirtationship partner will be free for a Skype call. Now, despite the fact that your partner may be waiting for you online, you’re more inclined to hang out with people you can actually touch. Flirtationships in itself are a challenge, more so if it’s long distance. The lack of definition in your relationship adds that hint of excitement, but it also gives you a bit of anxiety in knowing that it can all disappear in a snap. If you’re looking for a little more stability than your long distance flirtationship can provide, we’d advise you to either address the issue or just let it go to avoid getting your hopes up. http://www.gist4today.com/2015/04/top-13-signs-your-long-distance.html?m=1 |
Politics / Obasanjo Hands Over Report On Strategic Devt Plan To Buhari by havocypie: 9:25pm On May 14, 2015 |
ABUJA – Signs that ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo subtly amassed support for the election of General Mohammadu Buhari as the Nigeria’s next president and also wants him to succeed in office became evident Thusday when he handed over a report of a strategic development plan to Buhari. The reports contained templates that would assist the incoming government to rapidly achieve its objectives of taking the nation a notch higher. Top on the list were Education, Power sector, Economy, Security and Infrastructure. The development followed a research work embarked upon by the Centre for Human Security of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library on major social challenges facing Nigeria 4 months ago. The event which took place at the Buhari Support Organization, BSO’s office in Abuja featured the chairman, governing board of the Centre for Human Security of Obasanjo Presidential Library, Professor Akin Mabogunje, who was incidentally the chairman of the committee, former Minister of Finance and Committees vice chairman, Dr. Kalu Idika Kalu who present volumes of the report to Buhari and Dr. Christopher Kolade who headed the power committee. Speaking to Journalists at the end of the brief ceremony that was held behind closed doors, Mabogunje said the report contained policy documents that would help the president-elect restructure Nigeria, revealing that Buhari was full of thanks for the documents. He said: “Centre for Human Security of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Liberary has being working on a number of critical issues for the development of this country and they have now sent a delegation of those who’ve been involved with the preparation of those policy documents to talk to the president-elect and get him to appreciate what is being done to help his administration. That’s why we are here. “We’ve looked at education, security, economy, power and Infrastructure. Those are the areas we’ve made recommendations and which we hope the new administration will be able to work on. “He (Buhari) was very happy that we’ve been thinking about how to help him hit the ground running and he expressed his appreciation for what we’ve been doing.” Giving details of the reports, Dr. Kolade explained the long, medium and short terms goals of the report. According to him, the strategic plan hoped to raise the country’s power generation to 10,000 MW within a short period of time. Expanding thoughts on the development also, the Buhari’s media spokesperson, Mallam Garba Shehu said “the whole idea was that Obasanjo set up his own think- tank with the aim of carrying out a study on challenges facing the country in five key areas of Education, Power sector, Economy, Security and Infrastructure. The study was commissioned four months ago so that the outcome will be made available to the incoming administration after the election.” He also stated that the president-elect expressed gratitude to Obasanjo for their kind gesture, however regretting that the outgoing regime of president Goodluck Jonathan had not done anything close to that. “An appreciative President-elect expressed gratitude to Obasanjo and his team, describing their intervention as a great impetus for the incoming government. Buhari regretted that the out-going government that is supposed to give him tips on how to take-off has done nothing so far. He thanked the Obasanjo for their gesture, assuring them that his incoming administration will be needing their advice as time goes on”, Shehu said. Mallam Ahmed Joda, chairman of Buhari transition committee refused to speak in his capacity as the transition committee chairman when asked by Journalists to make input. “I am here not in the capacity of the chairman of the transition committee. I am here because I am a chairman of one of the committees of the centre that consider security issues at the Obasanjo centre for human security”, he said. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/05/obasanjo-hands-over-report-on-strategic-devt-plan-to-buhari/ 14 Likes 2 Shares |
Politics / House Speaker: We’ve Not Endorsed Any Candidate-pdp Reps by havocypie: 8:59pm On May 14, 2015 |
ABUJA-MEMBERS of the House of Representatives of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP extraction Tuesday said the party has not endorsed any candidate for the position of House Speaker. Also, more than 80 youths from the North East on Tuesday stormed the National Assembly demanding that Rep Yakub Bawa must be made the speaker of the eighth House. The PDP Reps in a statement entitled:’No Rush In Choice of Next Speaker: PDP Caucus Has Not Endorsed Anyone’ and signed by Rep Tajudeen Yusuf, PDP, Kogi, said our attention has been drawn to speculations that the PDP, House of Representatives’ Caucus has endorsed one of the candidates seeking the Speakership position in the yet to be convened 8th National Assembly. “Such hasty and invalid speculations appear to have been given some mileage by the lone voice of one of our members who recently expressed sentiments in favour of one of the candidates”. “We hereby unequivocally state that our Caucus has not endorsed anyone for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives”. “The wild and premature speculations now making the rounds over our purported endorsement or otherwise for any of the aspirants for the position of Speaker necessitate that we make the following clarifications as a body: “The PDP House of Representatives’ Members-Elect Caucus remains determined to play its opposition role with clear focus on and mission to sustain Nigeria’s democracy while exercising a dynamic presence in the polity. “While we are in the process of granting audience to all Speakership aspirants who have been seeking to brief our members on their vision positions and plans for the House of Representatives; we shall be unwavering in our commitment to the Nigerian project. “Our decision to support an aspirant for the position of Speaker when the House of Representatives Convenes early next month would be done without prejudice to national interests, the long-term concern of all stakeholders and the need to sustain the House’ dynamic role in the Nigerian polity. “It must be noted that at the moment, we have not thrown in our lot with any aspirant in view of ongoing efforts to listen to and evaluate each one of them on the basis of valid and relevant parameters as determined by the PDP House of Representatives Caucus”. “Any further pre-emptive attempts by any individual aspirant or supporter to hastily draw conclusions on our behalf should be routinely disregarded. We urge patience and promise to be part of what it takes to open a new and effective chapter in the history of the House of Representatives as well as that of Nigeria”. Meanwhile, following the decision of the All Progressives Congress’ ,APC, leadership to jettison zoning and allow lawmakers choose their leaders, the race for the coveted seat of Speaker of the 8th House of Reps is assuming an interesting dimension as youth organisations are beginning to speak out on who they feel is the right choice for the post. To this end, a youth group, Northeast Unity Forum ,NUF, in collaboration with Nigerian Youth Against Political Sabotage ,NYAPS,Thursday staged a peaceful protest in solidarity to one of the frontrunners for the position, Rep Yakub Dogara ,Bauchi, North East. Speaking to news men at the entrance to the National Assembly complex in Abuja, the youth coalition stated that the action was informed by the need to ensure justice and fairness in the distribution of leadership positions in the incoming Buhari-led administration. The National Coordinator of NYAPS, Comrade Tony Obuah who spoke on behalf of the groups stated that: “We have gathered here today in solidarity to give a sense of belonging to the people of Northeast. To say that they have suffered so much and they need to be given the opportunity to feel accepted as bona fide citizens of this country”. “You can bear me witness the trauma these people have gone through and are still going through due to the Boko Haram insurgency. There have been increasing poverty in the Northeast. Education is at its lowest ebb because of insurgency. “So we feel its high time they are compensated having produced the second largest votes that gave victory to the All Progressives Congress in the just concluded Presidential elections on March 28th. “So we need to give them a sense of belonging by showing them that they are our brothers and sisters. “Since the return to democracy in this 4th Republic they have never held any prominent political position apart from appointment and they should be given a chance this time around. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/05/house-speaker-weve-not-endorsed-any-candidate-pdp-reps/

Health / Do You Know That Your Smartphones Can Detect Eye Cancer? by havocypie: 6:49pm On May 14, 2015 |
You might have heard of this trick before, but take note — it’s literally a lifesaver. Retinoblastoma is a rare type of aggressive eye cancer that almost exclusively affects young children. It develops as a tumor in the retina but can be diagnosed with just a smartphone. Children who have the disease often have a white glow around their pupils that shows up when photographed with a flash — and it's this fact that recently saved the lifeof Julie Fitzgerald's two-year-old son, Avery. "It saved our son's life." "I just had this gut feeling in my stomach that something was wrong with his eye," Fitzgerald told ABC News. She'd seen odd spots in Avery's eyes in photos, but after reading a viral story about an identical diagnosis, she took her son to the doctor who confirmed the presence of cancer. Avery unfortunately lost his eye to the disease but no more than that. "It turned out to be our worst nightmare but it saved our son's life," Fitzgerald says. Mom catches 2-year-old son's eye cancer after seeing story on Facebook about it. Spotting a white flash in a child's pupil isn't a definitive diagnosis of retinoblastoma, but it's always worth following up, say doctors. "It's much better to do an exam that has negative findings than to pass up an exam and not have it looked at," Mayo Clinic ophthalmologist Michael W. Stewart told USA Today. "When caught early [retinoblastoma is] very treatable. Current technology and chemotherapies can save the baby's life and vision." As a diagnostic tool, smartphone cameras are so effective that the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT) even ran an ad campaign last year centered on the trick. They put up posters of children's eyes that flashed white when photographedthanks to the use of reflective ink. If you want to know more then CHECT has a good online guide about how to spot the white glowas well as other symptoms of retinoblastoma. http://www.theverge.com/2015/5/14/8604923/eye-cancer-smartphone-diagnosis-white-glow |

Romance / HIV TATOO: If You Can't Read Btw The Lines: You'll Read Btw The Legs-jacob Zuma by havocypie: 8:48am On May 08, 2015 |
South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma, known for his infamous comments as deputy president that he showered after having unprotected sex with an HIV positive woman to “minimize [his] risk of contracting the disease,” signed a controversial new bill aimed at fighting the spread of HIV in the African nation. The new law will require all South Africans who test positive for HIV to have their status tattooed on their pelvis– marking the greatest step in the history of combating HIV.From now on, every person who is tested and found to be HIV-positive would not only receive counseling and medication, they would also get a mark in a form of a tattoo near their genitals to warn potential sexual partners. “The mark is to protect those who can’t say no to sex. If you can’t read between the lines, you should be able to read between the legs because that’s where the status would be tattooed… We also encourage those who are already living with the virus to go to their nearest public hospital and have their status tattooed,” said President Zuma after signing the bill and drinking his ARVs. President Zuma volunteered to be the first South African citizen to get his status tattooed and also announced that the first 10 million previously diagnosed HIV-positive South Africans to volunteer to have their HIV statuses tattooed would receive a R50,000 funeral expense voucher. South Africa has the biggest and highest HIV profile epidemic in the world. In 2012, an estimated 6.1 million people were living with HIV, with 240,000 South Africans dying from AIDS-related illnesses. In a country where such a large percentage of sexually active people are likely to be HIV-positive, President Zuma is hoping that this radical measure will help slow the HIV/AIDS pandemic from spreading further. We predict a boom in the tattoo removal business in South Africa. *modified* Lalastica, Seun, ishilove If you are in support 'like' against 'share'. http://www.stdcheck.com/blog/president-zuma-to-new-hiv-patients-its-tattoo-time/ 1 Like 1 Share
