Politics › Re: Try Amaechi For Treason, Fani-kayode Tells FG by hazyfm: 6:12pm On Nov 21, 2014 |
okiezman: Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode , has urged the federal government to query Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State for his recent media remarks where he allegedly said the opposition would form a parallel government if President Goodluck Jonathan won the 2015 presidential election, saying that such statement amounts to treason.
Fani-Kayode who made the call Friday in a press conference in Umuahia , Abia State, after his two-day visit to the state also expressed disappointment over the commotion at the National Assembly complex on Thursday, accusing the lawmakers of breaking the law and disgracing the country.
“For the first time in the history of our country I saw elected legislators attempting to break down wall, attempting to break down gates. I saw them scaling the gate. I saw some of them in torn clothes, struggling through the police lines, I saw them breaking the law, and I saw them display the highest level of indiscipline and lack of respect for constituted authority.
The former Aviation boss said “some public figures may shy away from speaking the truth but I will not, no matter whoever is involved .”
“Legislators took the law into their own hands. Broke down gates, jumped through the gates, fought the police and created commotion and shameful acts.
“If this were to be in any other country particularly America or Uk that for whatever reasons a line was drawn by the police and security agencies, and individuals no matter how high or how much respected or loved chose to defy them and cross the lines, injured some policemen ( because the IG told me on phone this morning that some police men were injured), and they defied the police , went through the tear gas, and ignored the warnings , the police would have been forced to use a very high degree of force.
He commended security agencies for their maturity in handling the situation, and noted it was a testimony to the fact that the Nigerian police were very restrained to have allowed the lawmakers to cross the lines.
Kayodey argued that if the lawmakers were not satisfied with their being locked out of the national assembly complex by security agencies, they would have rather gone to seek redress in the court than take the laws into their hands.
“Again when you look at the comments made by my old friend, Gov. Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State, I am alarmed, I am deeply disturbed and discouraged. He said that if PDP comes back in 2015 that not only would they make the country ungovernable, they would also set up a parallel government, and that there would be anarchy in this country,” ha said.

tempest01: The pages from the constitution has been pasted on here...is it that you lack reading or understanding skills?
why wasnt there much fuss when governors switched places? because the constitution does not state that they lose their seat when they switch.
Is it pdp or apc that wrote the constitution?
Why i feel the police was right is because it is their duty to enforce the law. ITambuwal feels tha section was not interpreted well, he should go to court for it to be interpreted and then file for damages.
It is glaring that this is an attempt to twist the constitution for political gains. and the former speaker should have stepped down and focused on his governorship ambition to avoid all these ballyhoo. No need to argue with u, Its too early Nice day |

tempest01: shut up....if you don't know anything, read through the posts before you post.
the constitution of Nigeria is supreme and tambuwal should have thought carefully of his actions and then be ready to face the consequences. it is clearly stated that he ceases to be. he should just step aside and face his governorship ambition Hope what you read was the 1999 Constitution, because from your post it seems you just finished reading PDP's Constitution |
