Who owns 5G?

In the year 2019, the NCC gave permission for the South African telco, MTN, to ascertain the likelihood of 5G technology in three major cities – Lagos, Calabar and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja. The test lasted for three months and has since concluded.

Moreover, there is presently no fully functioning 5G network server in Nigeria or by augmentation, Africa. The NCC confirmed that 5G radio frequencies are available to be issued out when the time is due.



Will 5G arrive in Nigeria?
The number of studies, and some observations, Nigeria’s Internet speed is a far cry from what is obtainable in other countries of the world.


Therefore, the 5G interface is still in its beginnings globally, hence, no exact period or time can be given to when 5G will arrive at Nigeria.


Is 5G more dangerous than 3G and 4G?
Before the coronavirus epidemic, discussions concerning 5G effects on people’s health required to the type of radiation it emits and higher frequencies.

Can 5G be used as a weapon?
5G networks is solely a telecommunications technology and not a military technology. After all we’ve established its health effects, 5G cannot be used directly or indirectly as a weapon.

Reports from the United States’s Congressional Research Service (CRS), affirmed that the capacities of military technologies will be much improved with the increased rate that will give rise to 5G technology.

The CRS states:

Is 5G behind the rapid spread of coronavirus?
No, it is not. Countering this claim, NCC disclosed that there is no relationship between the ‘5G Technology and Coronavirus’. Also, the WHO says “a broad number of researches have been portrayed over the last two decades to evaluate whether mobile phones are liable to cause potential health risk (and) to date, no unfavourable health effects have been accepted as being caused by the use of mobile phones.”

As attested by the European centre for disease control, COVID-19 are households of viruses that can be transmitted by living things. Coronavirus is a modern tension that has formerly been unseen in humans.

In accordance with WHO, COVID-19 increase primarily through coming in contact with an infected person when they sneeze or cough. It can also spread when a person makes use of an object or touches a surface that has the virus on it, then touches their face.

Pronto, there’s no scrutiny linking the COVID-19 and technologies in telco companies such as 5G.
