AdeLaNa1:YESSSSSSS MATE!!.pc is da ultimate platform we are going to steal all the xbox one exclusives. quantum break, scalebound, forza 6 apex are all confirmed to be coming to windows 10. happy times as a pc gamer.peace... |
AKBliv: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lRp2yI0_kc FAST FORWARD TO 6 MINS A TRUE DX12 BEAST.DOUBLES 290X FRAMES IN ASHES TEST.XD......... |
AKBliv:hahahhahaha watch 390 raping 290x ahhaha especially dx12 coming . nvidia ASYNCHRONOUS COMPUTE SCAM.AHAHAHAHHAH. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lRp2yI0_kc |
AKBliv:i use the amd radeon crimson over drive utility. to do per profile overclock. the problem is that hawaii architecture is very inefficient in terms of power consumption when compared to nvidia maxwell. my 390 nitro is the non black plate version..its speed is 1010 mhz. the msi is core clocked 1040mhz. but ma even considering swapping the nitro becuase of the amazing tri xx cooling solution. i might sacrifice mhz for better temps. And 390 is a tweaked 290. it uses hynix memory with better timings and higher bandwidth 320 vs 384 gbps. also the cores are more effficient. they have higher IPC per core compared to the 290. thats why a 390 beats even a290x |
AKBliv:mistake i meant artefacting..black dots evry where at top corner of my screen |
AKBliv:no this is a friggin 28nm radeon card..i had issues when running on both. some of my folks pointed i might upgrade my psu. they play well in certian games. when i run witcher 3 at 4k with both cards i get artefacting.blackish dots.it also happens in just cause 3.i didnt want to take any chances so i removed one card problem solved. when i remove the nitro card. screen tear is gone.for now i decided to stick to one. am waiting for efficient polaris cards to come out.with 14nm node. half the consumption.my friends two 980 work well on my rig...i dont know why i get artefacts |
AKBliv:my second card . had to remove it . i need a 1000 watt to be able do max overclock on these two cards .they are so damn power hungry.XDDDDDDD!!

AKBliv:Great system bro. welcome to PCMR...i use two r9 390 series gpu with 16gb of total gddr5 . But am currently running on one due to my psu strugglin g to deal with power consumption because i run both of them overclocked.[img][/img][img][/img][img][/img][img][/img]. how can i show my pics evidence of my rig ,nairaland doesn't have a proper upload button for uploading images. i want to post my gpuz info and other data.Any help.ok seen it

AKBliv:ok cool. are you gaming on pc?personally i only experience 5 fps drop on my rig, i get 80 fps on average at 1080p when i turn off crossfire and run on a single gpu and on 2560 *1440p , i get locked 60 fps but with weather effects on, its 55fps on average which is still silky smooth thanks to my freesync monitor that dynamically adjust my monitor frametimes with the output from my gpu. i would get higher fps with two gpus on , but the power consumption is crazy ,my 750 watt psu cant handle both cards.Meh cant wait for amd to release their polaris gpu which is on a 14nm node. less power consumption, 2.5x performance per watt over my current card. tired of these gpus already, cant wait to upgrade..for you, my advice might be to turn down some heavy effects like shadows,i t will certainly lift your fps under rainy conditions.happy gaming! |
PcDon:its an amazing gaming with incredible effects like HBAO+ and the immersive and dynamic weather effects on pc. i also play it on pc. great gaming mate.. |
tziz:well your quote is off point . 4k ain't BS it's simply not for everyone. secondly in my previous post i stated my main reasons are not for comparison sake, i expected more from these machines and was heavily let down with what i saw. i purchased xbox one at day one price for $500 . so wasting that money on something that wasn't worth it was not amusing to me at all. i have been a pc gamer for 18 years , i never left it for a sec because i knew it was the defacto platform. i had consoles for simplicity , exclusive games and comfort (sitting on my couch with friends and hooking it up to my large screen). but previous gen consoles were amazing which i also stated. my xbox one was not. witcher 3 was a real eye opener. it was un playable for me. too much lag. i ended up returning back to bestbuy and got my refund...XD.... |
tziz:well for one ain't your concern, secondly am not comparing am enlightening. i used to be a big console fan when they made great machines. i just feel people are being exploited and get little value in return. i had to get a refund for my xbox one , many games weren't playing smooth as i thought. witcher 3 is one of my favourites. wasted $60 getting on my console and it wasn't that playable, intense battle scenes dipped the frames to unacceptable levels... |
Gosh this current gen of consoles are dead pathetic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19YAcOw7cdk . call of duty thats the lightest game compared to other triple A titles is simply choking d life of these toys. sony and ms$$$ really droped the ball this time around |
Cricket6:is is it pc? if yes , then best bet is total war:warhammer. it one of the best RTS games IMHO.XD |
LordReed:Exactly my point.i engage in these discussions at times to educate other potential gamer's out there who are yet undecided on which platform to get,so that they have a well balanced view of what pc gaming is all about and their associated benefits. pc gaming is a growing at an alarming rate.. |
LordReed:i would like to chip in a point. check out pc gamer users stats in steam and you would be shocked at the incredible and ever growing number of pc gamers. |
LordReed:Excellent reply . You are totally right. both devices exist for a reason and serve different purposes.enjoy whatever platform that serves your need. |
LordReed:. i am referring to the frames. most are just static assets that are refreshed a number of times to give us the feel of a movement on the screen . most average screens are locked at 60hz which can support 60 fps max, now you can't compare 30 and 60 fps , its absurd, with 60 fps the frames are rendered twice as quick which gives you a more fluid experience. Now do you even play competitive shooters. you can't challenge pc gamers because you will be owned, many competitive gamers use powerful rigs like mine(even more powerful than mine) with over 90 to 100 fps which means higher response rate less input lag plus better use of mouse against gimped console dpad joy sticks in fps games. Now you get my point , i was just typing fast and summarised it. didn't want to get into the details.XD... |
cao:That video was to debunk the notion you need a very expensive rig to own a console .As you have seen , it beat the shit out of the ps4. Now to address your other questions.IF you read my previous post you would notice i admitted that the dev of batman screwed up big time on pc. warner bros is not known to be a successful AAA game dev studio. look at crytek , dice ,ea , they make well optimized games on pc. Now you are surprised they screwed up on pc. the ps4 uses a low level gnm api that allows devs code straight to the metal. i even had an sdk kit for the ps3. pc uses dx 11 which has a lot of overhead and not that efficient despite that ,pc uses overwhelming power to bruteforce and still outperform consoles both in gameplay and visual performance. Now with the release of dx12 and upcoming release of vulcan api everything is changing. pc game devs now have the same efficient api as console devs which gives them unrestricted access to the hardware with no overhead. This will fully unlock the full power of the pc. check out ashes of the singularity , consoles simply cant handle that game. another great upcoming dx12 title is deus x man kind divided. .Now the new crysis replacement in terms of visuals , the king of graphics IS STAR CITIZENS.it's an upcoming pc exclusive title ,the amount of polygons per object is 10 times what is being used in console games. chris robert the dev openly admited that the game is pc exclusive because the level of immersion and visual experience is way way beyond what a console can handle. That is true pcmr. For assassins creed unity. yes it was buggy at launch. with the latest patch i brute-forced the game at 1440p at high graphics settings and it looks tons better than the ps4 version , heck the draw distance on pc is insane. Well fortunately am not from uk.In the US all these hardware are affordable. i normally just walk tothe nearest outlet pc retail store and purchase all the hardware gear i need for my rig.In the uk , you might try ebay. you can get dirt cheap good deals for pc that will wreck your ps4 . XD... |
cao:In addition to my previous post you don't even need a 4k monitor to really game at 4k.Thanks to PCMR ever evolving innovation. you can use either vsr or dsr to render games at native 4k on a 1080p screen by rendering it natively at 4k and then using a technique called downsampling to fit it into a 1080p screen .end result you get image quality way way superior to 1080p. you can also down sample 1440p. Awesome right? it even gets better with a highend gpu like a gtx 980 or amd equivalent you can do 1080p VR gaming. ps4 was so weak that you need an external device that does part of the graphics rendering for their own vr solution which by the way that device is more expensive than the console.. for more info ,enhance your knowledge by reading project morpheus docs or whitepaper. |
cao: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNN5SKcuzrk . XD. That is total ownage for 350 bucks hehhee. Now are you judging pc gaming from playing on a 15 inch laptop game screen. Have you gamed at 4k . i mean sit up close and game with a 144hz freesync monitor. There is a huge difference between 60 fps and 30 fps. more pixel frames are being rendered on the screen at once...Arkham city was a broken at launch it was really buggy game which was the devs fault. assassins creed unity could only do 30 fps at sub 1080p on ps4. it infact ran at 900p on ps4. with just one of my cards which by the way is a sapphire nitro trix with backplate r9 390 not even my 390x , wrecked the game at 1440p at high to ultra mixed settings. gush at that level of detail my friends ps4 version looked like an outdated pixel toy. resolution is not all , there are advanced features like tesselation level and object detail and texture details. console normally render these at mid level settings, but i push everything ultra and the difference is night and day. consoles can only uses cheap rendering techniques like inferior fxaa based anti aliasing that muddies image quality of games while pc gives you txaa and superior msaa . cheap ambience occlusion techniques like ssao .you cant compare ssao with custom HBA0+ on pc , the difference is much .The list goes on and on. The end result is if you have a high res display and a decent rig you can top console graphics with ease and it s very very noticeable.I don't rely on youtube for reference because i actual test it out myself with my own rig sitting right infront of me..XD... |
AdeLaNa1:You don't need A 4K rig to beat a console, just walk into your local hardware store, will recommend outlet pc, and buy cheap desktop parts like a skylake i3 6100 plus 8gb ram and a dirt cheap gtx 770 will own a console at 1080p 60 fps plus all the amazing nvidia exclusive graphics options that consoles simply don't have. This system would give you more longeivity than a console. The main reason i personally upgrade is because i mostly target 4k graphics or at least 1440p for now till i get my new psu so i can run my second gpu on crossfire at full throttle speed. It is not compulsory to keep upgrading . A gtx 770 is way more powerful than either console. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNN5SKcuzrk a ps4 can only play that game 900p. enjoy |
cao:Nobody is forcing you, just simply highlighting the benefits of pc gaming. 30 fps vs 60 fps please.. don't get me started. i have a 144hz asus freesync monitor and have seen the benefits of gaming above 60 fps.its night and day difference, by the way, consoles don't render at 50 fps, they can only handle 30 fps. Before you patched your witcher 3 , you must have noticed crazy frame deeps into the 20s,especially in misty areas and novigrad. i Purchased my ps3 back then on launch day.it was the last console i ever purchased. do you know why? Simple answer, the ps3 was a tour de force, absolute beast of a console. it was simply more powerful than even highend pc of that time at launch. Those console of that era were released with exotic hardware. uber powerful custom cpu, custom ram and very powerful gpus. That's the reason why xbox 360 can even play some current games like rise of tomb raider with decent graphics.Fast forward today, sony and MS$$$$ decided to gimp the hardware of both the ps4 and xbox one by releasing weak general purpose x86 based cpu, infact the consoles are simply low end pc released in a fancy box.they both use an 8 core jaguar cpu which is a very low end mobile cpu when compared to even laptops let alone desktop cpu beats..on the gpu side the xbox comes with an ancient hd 7790 which is a sub 100 dollar pc gpu while the ps3 comes with a hd 7850, which is still low end.Now analyzing the current situation critically, don't expect a 10 year life span like the ps3, these hardware are even too weak to basically scrape out a 5 year shelf life from it. the ps4 is struggling to keep 1080p at 30 fps despite the down graded visuals. just cause 3 and fallout 4 would let you know how weak these current machines are, you get serious dips into 25 fps and less. this is really really awful. As for the frame rates , the difference between 30fps that console struggle to maintain and 60 fps is very very noticeable. play both machines side by side and you will notice it instantly. 60 fps 1080p is the sweet spot for lower end rigs. Higher end rigs like mine, i mostly push over 100 fps.To avoid screen tear , i had to hook it up to 3440* 1440 widescreen freesync monitor. This monitor has a refresh rate of 144hz which means it can handle 144 fps. Consoles are very important due to its simplicity and its initial uptake cost. But saying there is no diffrenece between it and pc is simply not true.. i don't have time for youtube videos ,they are simply huge compressed mess. play both machines side by side and the visual difference is huge.i game on a very capable rig and i have compared both , just place your resolution on pc at even 1440p plus ultra quality settings with all the fx like HBAO+ dof and shadows to ultra , and the console simply cant touch that level. XD... |
cao:what about steam sales, generally cheaper software compared to consoles, amazing mods, great PCMR community, better visuals and experience, 4k gaming plus 60 fps at 1080p gaming, ability to play xbox games like rise of the tomb raider , ryse etc......., plus free online instead of ps+ subscription.overall you end up spending as much as a console in the long run from cheaper pc software and services compared to consoles ..XD... |
Hi guys,Does anyone have a sweetfx shader injector for implementing SMAA Antialiasing for Mad Max game on Pc? i ran it at 2560 * 1440p, but i figured i could get the same image quality at 1080p with the right SMAA implementation. Thanks |
swagifted:nope am not. Although am currently working as an expatriate(consultancy services)for the next 6 months in Nigeria. |
tziz:You are right. But gaming on laptop has benefits in terms of gaming on the go. For visual fidelity and performance if you really need a high-end desktop performance on a laptop , you have to invest more cash in the range of $1500 to 2000 bucks for it.Ofcourse a gtx 970m or 980m should be the minimum target gpu. In the case of a rig there is no limit to how much you invest ,you get serious value for your investment.Like am currently working on doing a major overhaul. i do a lot of rendering ,simulation and process engineering apart from gaming. so i need to invest more on the cpu side of things. i am building a new primary rig with the new intel i7 6950x cpu. The massive hyper-threading support and availability of more cores comes in handy in my line of work .Due to different cpu pin configurationand architecture i would have to purchase a brand new x99s extreme board with ddr4 support for my new cpu. The beauty of desktop is reusability which means i can swap a lot parts in my current rig to my new rig which am building ,thus saving me a good amount of cash. |
swagifted:I speak from my personal experience. i achieve the resolution using my dual 1080p led screen setup using eyeinfinity by combining the resolution of both screen to achieve native 4k resolution. my specs core i5 4690k ram ripjaw x 16gb ddr3 vga cossfire r9 390 second gpu r9 390x motherboard z97 extreme motherboard psu evga 750g2 supernova 80 plus gold certified cooling system corsair cpu cooler 25gb ssd hdd 1 terabyte I have currently disabled one of my gpu's due to the extremely high power consumption,my 750 watt psu is barely enough to power the two cards at peak speed , so am planning to upgrade to a 1000 watt platinum certified psu to handle my dual gpu setup. using my dual gpu , i played gta at 4k res using my two screens in eye infinity mode at ultra quality at near 60 fps locked with advanced graphics options maxed out.but i have downscaled the resolutiopn to 1440p because i use one card only for now pending when i get a new psu. |
GTA v on PC on 4k simply rocks. Simply too photo-realistic, rockstar really made a solid PC port. Ubisoft pay attention. |
samted:XD |
.. I dislike the FPS drop though
