QUESTION: Uyi, what advantage does deism have over atheism in the long run? You don't believe in the biblical account of creation (I guess), you don't believe in after-life (I think), you don't believe in the authenticity of the whole bible (I think), you really aren't a fan of religion. Is it just for the sake of having an opinion and a personal conviction? I don't think you speak to this deity. I don't think you claim any personal relationship. I don't think you believe in any deitical teleology(purpose for creation). Do you think you have any fundamental advantage over an atheist? Any deist can answer too.

kayswag100: Could someone Kindly inform me if it is possible to graduate from a Govt. UNI with a 4.96 CGPA?

That means from 100l to 400/500, all As and just about 2 or 3 Bs over all. HOOOOOOOW na? angry angry angry angry angry

Even Uni lag and UI first classes would be like 4.6 or that range.

Btw, this ain't envy but just awe!!!
it's possible. Heard of 4.96 in Obafemi Awolowo University, chemical engineering in 2006. Also heard two people graduated with 4.92 in Elect elect in 2011. Maybe someone from the school can confirm sha
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Employment Test: 1+1=? Justify Your Assertion by Hemical: 6:30pm On Sep 15, 2013
infiniteloop: 1+1= whatever you choose to define it.

Like earlier stated, it depends on the operating base of computation.

An example of what I mean is this:
1, 2, 4, ? What's the next number in the series?

This is a common math problem and on lower level of thinking, it is safe to assume this is a GP series and then conclude the next number is 8.

However looking deeper, the next number could be 17/3.

(1x5 -3)/1 =2
(2x5 -3)/2 =4
...
So third term will be (4x5 -3)/3 =17/3

Point is: when asked such a question, technically the right answer is to ask the condition.

The mere fact that a religious person is engaging an atheist is a bragging right to the religious person. Did I say atheist? Pardon me, you claimed agnosticism....

Uyi Iredia: I've only previewed his book and watched his talk on it on YouTube. I ain't got a VISA or MasterCard, if not I would have bought 'A Universe From Nothing'. I can only see sense in his stance if he adds God to it, he doesn't and so I think his stance nonsense for a well-known reason: from nothing nothing comes. Bigots aren't as much here so feel free.
I can send it to you via mail if you want. Maybe try sending a PM on here and I'll send the book to you. Would really love you go through it. We'll have a common ground to discuss space and nothingness

@judas2013, I don't understand if you're trying to be sarcastic or making an extra effort to be seen as more intelligent. Anyway, I'll take your comment as sarcasm. @uyi, good that you took your time to look through. I haven't posed any argument here. I'm still trying to see reasons with the concept of God. Anyway, looks like you've gone through Lawrence Krauss. Lool. You are sounding like the first 5 pages of the book when trying to define "nothing". We've been here before. I'm just observing. I'll pose more questions if I find the ground favorable enough for an intelligent discourse. This is on the front page and it will attract all sorts of fundamentalists and bigots. I'll pass for now
Christianity EtcRe: Why Do You Believe In God? by Hemical: 6:37pm On Sep 13, 2013
I don't know why you find it easy to believe God came out of nowhere (God has no designer) and yet you can't believe man could have also come without needing a designer. Why not just think of man's beginning as a mystery the same way God's beginning is a mystery. Why couldn't it have started with man? God is intelligent. How could something intelligent (which you call God) have come from nothing intelligent in †ђξ first place. Yet, you all come with an argument that since man is intelligent, he needs an intelligent designer. Why can't man also be the beginning of intelligence. Why do you have to look for a God?

Cassan: Personaly,I believe a lot of pple av misconceptions abt d masons n d illuminati in general.Acording to Dan Brown in 'Angels & Demons',the illuminati was establised by scientists who wantd to 'illuminate the world' n @ the same time escape from catholic church which was persecutn scientists due to their discoveries which opposes d teachings of d church.Their main aim is 2 bring knowledge to the world which was blindly followin the teachins of the church. And dat is where d word came from.tink its a greek word 'illumimus-to show the light.2ndly,in Lost symbol,I learnt dat d masons(especially those who have risen up to the 33rd degree) are a secret organisation whose main teachin is dat life is short n inspire its members to use their life wisely.True their ritual is nt very impressive(they beat d initiatee almost to the point of death n place im in a coffin after which e drinks blood from a skull)dey still their believe is dat the lost symblo found 33ft below the US Capitol Rotunda is a word which is d Bible. They actually believe in Christianity but not blindly.d single illuminated eye of Clement Issiong is defended by d masons y quotin Matthew 6:22-when ur eye is single,ur body fills with light.tink u al nid 2 read d book
you learnt in "lost symbol"... Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool. You wonder why my lol is that long? You obviously haven't read the conspiracy about Dan Brown himself. He opens his books with a disclaimer that everything in his books are factual lool. Do not in any way take everything he writes as facts . You obviously haven't read that he's a tool by Illuminati too to show you what they want you to think they are (not saying it's true or not). Maybe if you come up with something else other than a Dan Brown, you will have a better point. Until then please don't believe everything Dan Brown writes. He just wants to sell his own books too by getting you engaged and telling you everything he's writing is factual. Thank you sis. You are blessed.
Christianity EtcRe: Nigerian Naira Is Full Of Masonic Symbols by Hemical: 8:44pm On Sep 10, 2013
If you reverse "NAIRA", you will get "ARIAN". Arius was one of the first christians to go against the trinitarian doctrine. In 325 AD, during the Nicene council under constantine, he was booed out for his opposition of the trinity concept. The name "NAIRA" is a subtle way to bring that enlightenment back to light using the most populous country in Africa. It's a subtle way of telling people everything you believe is false using the strongest thing that has ever happened to christianity to show that there is a group of people who control what you believe even in your religions. Also, if you check the nairaland symbol, you will see it's a naira sign. If you remove the two slashes in the middle and separate †ђξ two parts of the letter N, you will get two pyramids if you put the two lines under both sides. Now, SEUN used the naira sign becuase he was carefully chosen to fulfil Illuminati's role. He created NAIRALAND, which means ARIAN-land, a place where more importance is given to atheism. That's why everything against religion goes to front page. Illuminati is conditioning us for greater enlightenment on a greater scale and bringing a new world order. SEUN's name when written backwards is "NUES", "NUS" is the plural of the 13th greek symbol, a significant sign in early masonism. And the E which is in seun's name looks like a rake to erase people's brainwashed mentality. Seun was a perfect candidate for this and was chosen. Nairaland is a forum to bring Nigerian youths under one umbrella to be monitored and those who qualify will be contacted to be part of †ђξ great scheme to bring about a new world order. Of course everything I just wrote is cock and bull and I composed it in my room on my phone just to mock the jobless person who instead of spending the naira is looking for masonic symbols. Rubbish! If you like, you can leave nairaland for what I thought up too. Lool. Let's hear word jor.

Oga 4 nairaland....we don't say such to ourselves in here...pls apologize honourably... Dat was too stern...
I appreciate your concern. I made a comment on that picture for so many reasons. Firstly, I wanted it to be removed and I didn't want to tread the path of the moral discussion of how implicating it is or not and if it can affect someone cos it's on a forum online so, I had to subject the "post itself" to ridicule and not the poster. Although you may feel it could be addressing the poster and I slightly knew that side effect (some people could read it that way based on their backgrounds and mood) too and the person that commented after me picked up that line and well, he brought out the obvious. On July 22nd at exactly 1:55 pm, the same poster used the word "dumb asses" on a forum to people. If the person was careful enuff to only check the top of the picture and also read a few pages on this thread, he could have seen how it all started (but well, some people just read the last page.. Understandable). I took my time to use the exact word the poster is familiar with and has used on this same site before although I didn't use it on him directly but on his post. But for the sake of people who feel he should be fought for and who feel it (what I wrote) isn't right for the sake of this page, I will tender an apology to him (I feel it's right). But know I make my enquiries before I drop any word that I feel is out of line. Let's not derail †ђξ thread. One house. I am sorry.

But seriously, how dumber can a post get? You munched a picture that clearly has nairaland on top, and reposted it on the same nairaland page where you got the first picture all in the name that you want to give info? I'm still laffing. Please you guys should remove that picture about oau jare.
Christianity EtcRe: Can You Be A Christian And Still Be Gay? by Hemical: 11:52pm On Sep 02, 2013
Why are you all making an issue out of this? Let me add a twist to this. If you feel you are gay, fine. If you engage in homosexual acts without being "married", it is sinful according to the bible. So, be gay or not but as long as you are doing it (engaging in homosexual acts) outside marriage, it's a sin. Now, when you are married as a gay person (if accepted in this part of the world), we will now discuss the christian perspective of it. Till then just know you are sinning.
