Seun: We have made it easy for you to login to your Nairaland account without using a password. We have also made it easy to register without having to hunt down security codes in your inbox. Just click the With Google link in the screenshot below. Google will handle the rest.
PS: You can still register and login the old-fashioned way. The Google option is for your convenience. Change the NL interface it is too boring and archaic There should be instant message option not the email button where you dont know if the other person got your message. Also create room for comment to be seen as posted. |
Politics › Re: Jamb 2025 A Score, A System And A Society In Crisis by henrybomb(m): 7:53pm On May 10, 2025 |
Odey1997: Recently, the just-concluded JAMB results for candidates who sat for the 2025 UTME have been released. Parents, guardians, and concerned Nigerians have been expressing their disappointment over the woeful performance of many candidates — a situation that many have described as "gory."
One case that has sparked massive reactions online is that of an X user, @timmiexx, who shared the ordeal of her younger brother. Despite preparing adequately for the exam, he scored a disappointing 169, compared to his previous score of 278. She went further to share his WAEC results and emphasized that he has always been academically outstanding.
In her words: "We are not dullards in my family. I had 278 in 2017, my sister scored 320. He was among the top 3 students in his school, a former assistant head boy, and he represented Lagos in different competitions."
Another Twitter user, @quwam001, brought attention to the case of Egbaze Victoria. She previously scored 295 in UTME but scored only 132 in the 2025 edition. Victoria also has 7 A’s in her IGCSE and had earlier scored 259 in JAMB while still in SS2.
These cases raise serious concerns:
* Is there something definitely wrong somewhere? * Should JAMB be used as a yardstick to test one’s intelligence? * How can JAMB effectively correct CBT glitches that may be manipulating scores? * Has the reading culture among students gradually declined? * Why does JAMB delay the release of results? * Is JAMB an exam of pure luck? * Are candidates ill-prepared due to distractions like TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram? * Can JAMB results affect students' self-confidence?
So, What Can Be Done? If you ask me, I believe the following measures should be considered:
1. An Independent Audit of the 2025 UTME Process – Stakeholders need to step in and verify the reliability of the platform and scoring system. If this is done, complaints will reduce significantly.
2. Introduce an Appeal Mechanism– Students should be allowed to request a review of their scores.
3. Public CBT Testing Reports – Each testing center’s performance and any technical glitches should be made public. There should be no secrecy.
4. Invest in CBT Infrastructure – Inadequate technology ruins futures. It’s that simple. I love it when people have open mind towards critical issues of this nature. |

CalmStudent: Good afternoon, well-meaning Nigerians; I am typing this post amidst severe pain and serious hunger.
With the current hardship in our dear country, how will a poor but hardworking person like me survive?
I am confused and in trauma.
I am 30 years old and an O.LEVEL holder. I had a car accident last month and got bedridden as a result of a broken leg that I suffered in the accident.
The car accident threw me into trauma and hunger, as I am unable to go out to hustle for my daily bread as I used to do before.
As I am typing this, I have yet to eat food since yesterday morning other than the water that I have been drinking to gain some strength. This is due to the fact that I am totally broke now. I spent the last #60,000 I have on me on medication. I am in Lagos, but my parents are far back in Kwara State, Ilorin, my hometown. I am thinking of relocating back home to get better treatment, but the issue is, I still do not have the transportation fare.
Please, daddies, mummies, and my brothers and sisters on Nairaland forum, please help me; hunger is doing a very deadly work in my body.
I live at No. 26, Araromi Street, Eleko Town, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.
If you live close to me and want to visit me, my phone number is 091 3531 0933 and that's my address. Please help me.
Below are my bank details; please have mercy on me.
Bank: OPay Account Number: 9135 310 933 Name: Babatunde Sikiru Yisa
May God bless you more and grant you all your heart desires as you help me.
May God turn our situation in Nigeria from its current state to a better state that will bring joy, happiness, and riches to you, me, and all Nigerians. Ameen You sha dey change tactics up and down Do live video you no gree Oya send recent pics you no still gree🤣 |

Highest level of inferiority complex.
When the whites never struggle or wish to talk like us, why should we want to talk like them! Most times it is not about inferiority complex Most of them dont understand our accent clearly until you switch just a few understand us clearly. |

Health › Re: I Can't Sleep. How Do I Get Rid Of Whitlow On My Finger? by henrybomb(m): 1:11am On Apr 15, 2025 |
Quarterpast: I can't even type properly due to the pains I am presently going through. It started about four days ago. Appeared on the tip of my finger close to the nail like a small pimple or boil. It was itchy and had mildly sweet sensation when I was gently scratching it. Over the passage of time, I began to notice it's increase in size, the spot began to swirl and became reddish. The pains got more intense and excruciating. And I began to notice that it wasn't a boil but a whitlow. Yesterday morning, I pressed it with very warm water, I did same this morning. But I noticed it is aggravating the pains cos it continues to grow and swirl. At night, the pains can be something else. I feel like someone is using a hose to drain my blood from the body. I can't keep that hand down when I am walking cos of the pains. I will have to raise the hand and hang it on my head or shoulder. I can't wash plates or clothes. I am now only able to use one of my hands in doing things. It has resulted in fever. It also has an effect on my armpit. The armpit at the side where the withlow is ..
Someone suggested I use my first urine in the morning. I should urinate on the whitlow in the morning. Another person advised I use beans. I should pound the beans and rub it on the finger.... Guys I'm restless and sleepless. Can't even concentrate at work
Nlfpmod Mynd44 seun Lalasticlala Fergie001 Forget all this use your first urine or use beans technique Visit a doctor asap |

Politics › Re: CAN Felicitates Muslims, Seeks Justice For 16 Slain Hunters by henrybomb(m): 6:31am On Mar 31, 2025 |
othermen: We heard it rained in Edo, and we were waiting for the rain in Uromi. The sun was beginning to sink, and that rain might bring some comfort. There is heat. Sometimes the whole country feels like hell.
Uromi is not a very big place. The people here had known shared suffering, they have read of too many deaths. Of the priests killed despite paying the kidnappers. Of the farmers killed by herdsmen. Everyone still remember bodies found in the forest, throats slit, bellies opened.
Everyone knew who had done it.
The police had repeatedly failed them. The community had taken charge of their own safety. They were a response to the authorities’ failure.
So when the bus appeared on the main road, filled with these men, suspicion was easy. They stopped the bus, the passengers were silent at first. Then, as the demand for inspection was issued, there was hesitation and protest. A moment later, local guns were found.
Guns, crude and worn, the kind they had seen before in the hands of murderers. The kind the Nigerian army had published as exhibits from notorious bandits and terrorists.
The vigilantes, hardened by grief and anger, called to the community. The people didn’t have much to do, they quickly gathered, their voices rising.
The men in the bus swore they were hunters, just passing through, but who could believe them? Hunters, here in Uromi? Some heard they were only passing through, going to Kano. But it still felt like a poor lie, and the people of Uromi had long stopped believing in mercy when it came to those who had shown them none.
They dragged the men from the bus, their voices drowned beneath the cries for vengeance. The work was done. Justice, they told themselves, had been served.
But in Kano, Wives were awaiting their husbands. Mothers were awaiting their sons. Daughters were awaiting their fathers. A lady loved one of the boys that will never return.
They too knew of the bandits and kidnappers, that was why they couldn’t hunt in the forests in Kano. They were also afraid, for they too had lost brothers to these bandits.
The men in the bus had set out early that morning, their bane guns kept. Hunting was their life. As they neared Uromi, many of them had slept. When they were stopped, they presented their gun licenses. They didn’t plead. But as the mob grew, they pleaded, but their voices were swallowed by the wind of rage.
They tried to explain, but reason disappears when met with grief that had hardened into wrath. Then the blows came, and then the flames, and then nothing.
The government didn’t yet think that Justice, when left too long in the hands of absent authorities, became something the people take for themselves. Well said ✅ |

hegelian: These are fact.. It's just like a gbagi man saying he is not Hausa.. An average nigeria man see gbagi people, as Hausa and every other thing is a political creation.. You derive your identity from the largest and dominant group around you(their culture influence and so you are one).. If there trouble in the North or SW tomorrow, no northerner or Yoruba man will begin differentiating between ss or se, you will be dead throway once you ain't Hausa or Yoruba.. The earlier SS and SE come together to fight as one the better forthem same with the northerners, the earlier they come together and fight their wicked leaders as one tue better for them.. Your take is just on point The earlier people know that our leaders use tribe and religion as divide and rule tactics |
