Kenya quietly doing something we don’t talk about enough.

This was announced in church yesterday and after service, I walked up to the Pastor and asked for the copy of the memo.

The government is offering FREE rabies vaccination for dogs, cats, and even donkeys across multiple wards, with clearly scheduled dates, locations, and veterinary coordination.

Not just one day. Not just one location. A structured, community-wide rollout.

This is what stood out to me:

- Organized schedule by ward and village
- Government-backed veterinary involvement
- Completely free for residents
- Focus on preventing rabies at the grassroots level

Now compare that to what we typically see back home in Nigeria.

Animal welfare is often left to:
- Private vets
- NGOs
- Or individual pet owners

Very little coordinated public health action at scale.

And this isn’t even about pets alone—rabies is a public health issue, not just an animal issue.

So the real question is:

👉 Why don’t we have more local government-driven initiatives like this in Nigeria?
👉 What’s stopping state or LGA-level action on something this basic?

No insults—just an honest observation.

I just got married to the love of my life here in Nairobi on the 5th (which was Wednesday last week).

Traditional wedding was on the 10th of October, the only expensive thing on the marriage list was the number of cows I was asked to present (1 bull and 2 heifers), my in-laws catered for everything from catering to photo shoot, to you name it!

Best decision I ever made! There’s something fundamentally wrong with Nigeria. As a young man, the best gift you can give your unborn kids, is a second citizenship, it doesn’t necessarily have to be in an European country.
