Before you condemn, be still. You are not God, there's a reason this passage is in the Bible. Deuteronomy 18:22 when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need NOT be afraid of him. #FewWords |
Education / 28 Rules Of Life by HercJay(m): 4:15pm On Jun 04, 2015 |
28 Rules of Life... Rule #1. Life is not fair — get used to it! Rule #2. Eat an elephant, but one bite at a time. Rule #3. To better your lot, you have to be a lot better. Rule #4. If you have a friend, learn to talk to each other instead of about each other. Rule #5. True love isn’t Romeo and Juliet who died together, it’s Grandmom and Granddad who grew together. Rule #6. Life is not a movie. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to work. Rule #7. Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one. Rule #8. Never give up on something you really want. It’s difficult to wait, but more difficult to regret. Rule #9. If you can’t get someone off your mind, they are probably supposed to be there. Rule #10. Be yourself. No matter how hard you try; you will fail trying to please everyone. Rule #11. Never be a prisoner of your past. Be the architect of your future. Rule #12. Don’t wait for a perfect moment. Take the moment and make it perfect. Rule #13. Recognize there is a huge difference between failing at something you do and being a failure as a person. Rule #14. Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles, it empties today of its strength. Rule #15. If finding a perfect person is what will make you happy, then you will never be happy. Rule #16. Never make a permanent decision on temporary feelings. Rule #17. You can make the world better by making your life better. Remember, “we are the world”. Rule #18. In life, there are some people you’ll have to lose in order to find yourself. Rule #19. Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass… it’s about learning how to dance in the rain. Rule #20. Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help, and brave enough to ask for it. Rule #21. To get ahead, take steps. Rule #22. Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs. Rule #23. Listen to people but never lose your voice. Rule #24. Accept what you cannot change. Change what you cannot accept. Rule #25. Don’t assume there are no crocodiles because the water is calm. Rule #26. At times, things have to fall apart before they come together. Rule #27. If you want to be broke, work for money. Rule #28. To live a life of enduring significance, you must learn how to set your own rules and follow the course of your destiny. |
Religion / The Girl With Four Boyfriends by HercJay(m): 9:27am On Jun 02, 2015 |
The Girl With 4 Boyfriends.... Once upon a time there was this girl who had four boyfriends. She loved the 4th boyfriend the most and adorned him with rich robes and treated him to the finest of delicacies. She gave him nothing but the best. She also loved the 3rd boyfriend very much and was always showing him off to neighboring kingdoms. However, she feared that one day he would leave her for another. She also loved her 2nd boyfriend. He was her confidant and was always kind, considerate and patient with her. Whenever this girl faced a problem, she could confide in him, and he would help her get through the difficult times. The girls 1st boyfriend was a very loyal partner and had made great contributions in maintaining her wealth and kingdom. However, she did not love the first boyfriend. Although he loved her deeply, she hardly took notice of him. One day, the girl fell ill and she knew her time was short. She thought of her luxurious life and wondered, I now have four boyfriends with me, but when I die, I'll be all alone. Thus, she asked the 4th boyfriend, I loved you the most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?' 'No way!', replied the 4th boyfriend, and he walked away without another word. His answer cut like a sharp knife right into her heart. The sad girl then asked the 3rd boyfriend, 'I loved you all my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?' 'No!', replied the 3rd boyfriend. 'Life is too good! When you die, I'm going to marry someone else!' Her heart sank and turned cold. She then asked the 2nd boyfriend, 'I have always turned to you for help and you've always been there for me. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?' 'I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!', replied the 2nd boyfriend. 'At the very most, I can only walk with you to your grave.' His answer struck her like a bolt of lightning, and the girl was devastated. Then a voice called out: 'I'll go with you. I'll follow you no matter where you go.' The girl looked up, and there was her first boyfriend. He was very skinny as he suffered from malnutrition and neglect. Greatly grieved, the girl said, 'I should have taken much better care of you when I had the chance!' In truth, you have 4 boyfriends in your lives: Your 4th boyfriend is your body. No matter how much time and effort you lavish in making it look good, it will leave you when you die. Your 3rd boyfriend is your possessions, status and wealth. When you die, it will all go to others. Your 2nd boyfriend is your family and friends. No matter how much they have been there for you, the furthest they can stay by you is up to the grave. And your 1st boyfriend is your Soul, often neglected in pursuit of wealth, power and pleasures of the world. However, your Soul is the only thing that will follow you where ever you go. Cultivate, strengthen and cherish it now, for it is the only part of you that will follow you to the throne of God and continue with you throughout Eternity. Thought for the day: Remember, when the world pushes you to your knees, you're in the perfect position to pray. Share this on to someone you care about... NATURE |
Politics / Pdp Blasts Buhari For ‘embarrassing’ Treatment Given To Him By Cameron In London by HercJay(m): 10:31pm On May 25, 2015 |
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has expressed disappointment with what it describes as the apparent snub by the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari of the handover programme lined up by the Federal Government to transmit power to him by Friday, May 29, 2015. The PDP said such behaviour was a measure of lack of democratic discipline. The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, in a statement on Sunday said the President-elect owes Nigerians explanations on why he snubbed the prayer sessions scheduled for Friday and Sunday for Muslims and Christians respectively to usher in four years of his in-coming administration as well as the embarrassing protocol gaffe and low-down treatment that characterized his visit to British Prime Minister, David Cameron, last Saturday. The PDP said it was disgraceful that due to poor coordination and crass ineptitude in the handling of issues, the President-elect was left almost stranded while waiting for about thirty minutes before he was received by the British leader and wondered if such is a foretaste of the muddling to be experienced under the All Progressives Congress’ administration. “ Nigerians, as citizens of a sovereign nation were thoroughly embarrassed when they saw their President-elect cheapened and kept waiting at the door of 10 Downing Street to see the British Prime Minister due to shoddy arrangements by his handlers. “Indeed, they are becoming increasingly worried about the frightening unpreparedness of the APC for governance and the huge embarrassments they have been attracting to our nation. We know that the APC has been lying over issues. We also know that the APC and the President-elect have been flip-flopping and reneging on their campaign promises; but to embarrass the nation by embarking on such a sensitive visit without adequate preparations is shameful and completely unacceptable. “We share the fear of well-meaning Nigerians on how a party which cannot adequately handle a simple task of organizing a diplomatic outing will effectively administer a country as complex as Nigeria. “The APC has continued to give signals that it lacks capacity to face the challenges of governance. Such has been evidenced in the uneasiness of the President-elect who in apparent loss of confidence in himself has started reneging on his promises of quick fixes while confessing in a meeting with APC governors-elect on May 5, 2015 that he has ‘started nervously to explain to people that Rome was not built in a day’. “Instead of settling down for governance and working out how to fulfill its promises of making the naira the same in value with the dollar, paying N5,000 monthly to 25 million poor Nigerians, providing electricity on 24/7 basis, providing free meals for school children and allowances for discharged but unemployed youth corps members among others, the APC is busy inventing excuses for failure and blaming everyone else but themselves. We hope they will not blame the PDP for their Saturday’s embarrassing outing at 10 Downing Street. “Furthermore, we find it curious and more than a co-incidence that the nation is experiencing an acute shortage of fuel and electricity supply at this point in time, when such has not been the case under the current PDP-led administration. We ask, are there some forces sabotaging the system to create an impression that the APC is inheriting poor infrastructure and complete system breakdown? “Is this also part of the larger plot to embarrass and defame the PDP-led administration in an attempt to justify APC’s excuses for failure”, the PDP said The party insisted that despite the challenges of insecurity and global economic recession that negatively affected many other nations, its administration had in the last 16 years worked very hard in repositioning critical sectors of the polity and laying strong infrastructure backbone that that any prepared and result oriented in-coming administration can comfortably leverage on. It therefore asked the APC to get ready to apply its much-mouthed manifesto or be bold to apologize to Nigerians for presenting false messianic posture and making false promises to them. source : nigeriacamera.net/pdp-blasts-buhari-for-embarrassing-treatment-given-to-him-by-cameron-in-london/ |
Politics / REVEALED: The Real Reason Behind Fuel Scarcity In Nigeria by HercJay(m): 10:24pm On May 25, 2015 |
According to the Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Sunny Nkpe , Nigeria is constantly plagued with fuel crises because it’s not using its refineries. Nkpe disclosed this on Monday, May 25, 2015, during a telephone interview with Pulse. The IPMAN Chairman stated further that Nigeria’s refineries can produce 50-60% of the fuel the country needs but they’ve been shut down for more than a year. “We have refineries that can refine 450,000 barrels of crude oil per day, that’s millions of litres of refined product,” he said. “Why are we not using the refineries? Let them use the refineries,” Nkpe said. An industry insider, who chose to remain anonymous, told Pulse that the relevant government agencies refuse to use the local refineries to produce the country’s needs because there’s much more money to be fraudulently gotten from importing the product. “They are knowingly boycotting the refineries,” she said. “They make more money with importation due to corruption and fraud,” she added. The fuel subsidy regime in Nigeria has come to be viewed as a huge scam, a notion buttressed by the 2014 arrest of 121 suspects, who were believed to have benefited from it, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The current scarcity is said to be an artificial creation of the marketers in attempts to force the government to pay the remaining subsidy debt it owes them before a new administration is inaugurated on May 29, 2015. Meanwhile, the marketers have called of their strike and are expected to begin supplying product nationwide to end the scarcity. However, until the real problems causing the scarcity are resolved, Nigerians are left asking how long it will be before the next crisis occurs. source: pulse.ng/local/revealed-the-real-reason-behind-fuel-scarcity-in-nigeria-id3794475.html?utm_campaign=art-revealed-the-real-reason-behind-fuel-scarcity-in-nigeria-2015-05-25&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook |
Education / English: Proper Usage Of Some Common Words by HercJay(m): 11:08pm On May 24, 2015 |
This may be a long read... Grab a cup of Lemon Tea! May or Might? "These words occupy different places on a continuum of possibility. May expresses likelihood {we may go to the party}, while might expresses a stronger sense of doubt {we might be able to go if our appointment is cancelled} or a contrary-to-fact hypothetical {we might have been able to go if George hadn't gotten held up} (Garner, The Oxford Dictionary of American Usage and Style ) . Me, Myself, or I? "In the old days when people studied traditional grammar, we could simply say, "The first person singular pronoun is I when it's a subject and me when it's an object,' but now few people know what that means. [. . .] The misuse of I and myself for me is caused by nervousness about me. [. . .] But the notion that there is something wrong with me leads people to overcorrect and avoid it where it is perfectly appropriate. People will say, 'The document had to be signed by both Susan and I ' when the correct statement would be, 'The document had to be signed by both Susan and me .' Trying even harder to avoid the lowly me , many people will substitute myself as in 'The suspect uttered epithets at Officer O'Leary and myself .' Myself is no better than I as an object. Myself is not a sort of all-purpose intensive form of me or I . Use myself only when you have used I earlier in the same sentence: ' I am not particularly fond of goat cheese myself '" (Brians, Common Errors in English Usage ). Mid- or just Mid? "In forming compounds, mid- is normally joined to the following word or element without a space or hyphen: midpoint . However, if the second element begins with a capital letter, it is separated with a hyphen: mid-May . It is always acceptable to separate the elements with a hyphen to prevent possible confusion with another form, as, for example, to distinguish mid-den (the middle of a den) from the word midden . The adjective mid is a separate word, and as is the case with any adjective, it may be joined to another word with a hyphen when used as a unit modifier: in the mid Pacific but a mid- Pacific Island " ( The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language ). Mrs./Ms./Miss? "Ms. is widely used in business and public life to address or refer to a woman, especially if her marital status is either unknown or irrelevant to the context. More traditionally, Miss is used to refer to an unmarried woman, and Mrs. is used to refer to a married woman. Some women may indicate a preference for Ms. , Miss , or Mrs. , which you should honor. If a woman has an academic or professional title, use the appropriate form of address ( Doctor, Professor, Captain) instead of Ms. , Miss , or Mrs. " (Alred, Brusaw, and Oliu, The Technical Writer's Companion 297). Numbers: When to spell out and When to write as numbers? "Spell out numbers of one or two words or those that begin a sentence. Use figures for numbers that require more than two words to spell out. [Examples:] It's been eight years since I visited Peru. I counted 176 DVDs on the shelf. If a sentence begins with a number, spell out the number or rewrite the sentence. [Example:] One hundred fifty children in our program need expensive dental treatment. Exceptions: In technical and some business writing, figures are preferred even when spellings would be brief, but usage varies. When in doubt, consult the style guide of the organization for which you are writing. When several numbers appear in the same passage, many writers choose consistence rather than strict adherence to the rule. When one number immediately follows another, spell out one and use figures for the other: three 100-meter events, 25 four-poster beds . Generally figures are acceptable for dates, addresses, percentages, fractions, decimals, scores, statistics and other numerical results, exact amounts of money, divisions of books and plays, pages, identification numbers, and the time. Quotation Marks and Other Punctuation There are three basic rules. 1. All commas and periods should be placed inside the quotation marks. 2. All colons and semicolons should be placed outside the quotation marks. 3. Question marks and exclamation marks should be placed within the quotation marks when they apply only to the quoted material; they should be placed outside when the entire sentence, including the quoted material, is a question or exclamation. Semicolon use? "A semicolon creates a brief reading pause that can dramatically highlight a close relationship or a contrast. The semicolon alone can't specify the relationship the way words like because or however can. Be sure, therefore, that the relationship you are signaling won't be puzzling to readers." "Join two sentences with a semicolon. A semicolon joins main clauses that can stand alone as complete sentences. [Example:] The demand for paper is at an all- time high; businesses alone consume millions of tons each year." "Use a semicolon with words such as however and on the other hand . When you use a semicolon alone to link main clauses, you ask readers to recognize the logical link between the clauses. When you add words like however or on the other hand , you create a different effect on readers by specifying how the clauses relate. [Example:] I like apples; however, I hate pears." "Use a semicolon with a complex series. When items in a series contain commas, readers may have trouble deciding which commas separate parts of the series and which belong within items. To avoid confusion, put semicolons between elements in a series when one or more contain other punctuation. [Example:] I interviewed Debbie Rios, the attorney; Rhonda Marron, the accountant; and the financial director." (Anson, Schwegler, and Muth, The Longman Writer's Companion 432-433) Single quotation marks? "Single quotation marks enclose a quotation within a quotation. Open and close the quoted passage with double quotation marks, and change any quotation marks that appear within the quotation to single quotation marks. [Example:] Baldwin says, "The title 'The Uses of the Blues' does not refer to music; I don't know anything about music." (Lunsford, The Everyday Writer 338) Than I/Than me? "Some of the smartest people I know hesitate at the word than when it comes before a pronoun. What goes next, I or me ? he or him? she or her ? they or them ?" The answer: All of the above! This is easier than it sounds. Take I and me as examples, since they're the pronouns we use most (egotists that we are). Either one may be correct after than , depending on the meaning of the sentence. Trixie loves spaghetti more than I means more than I do. Trixie loves spaghetti more than me means more than she loves me." Capitalization in Titles? "In titles, capitalize the first word, the last word, and all words in between except articles (a, an, the ), prepositions under five letters (in, of, to ), and coordinating conjunctions (and, but ). These rules apply to titles of long, short, and partial works as well as your own papers" (Anson, Schwegler, and Muth. The Longman Writer's Companion 240). Comprise? "Nothing is ever 'comprised of' something. To comprise means 'to contain or to embrace': The jury comprises seven women and five men. Continually or Continuously? "Yes, there is a slight difference, although most people (and even many dictionaries) treat them the same. Continually means repeatedly, with breaks in between. Continuously means without interruption, in an unbroken stream. Heidi has to wind the cuckoo clock continually to keep it running continuously . (If it's important to emphasize the distinction, it's probably better to use periodically or intermittently instead of continually to describe something that starts and stops.) The same distinction, by the way, applies to continual and continuous , the adjective forms" (O'Conner, Woe Is I 95-96). Click for more www.drgrammar.org/frequently-asked-questions |

Word coming out of Otta, Ogun State indicates that former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, was in the early hours of this morning, whisked away from his Otta Farm by Men of the Nigerian Police Force led by the infamous CP Mbu His arrest may be connected to his recent disparaging comments directed to President Goodluck Jonathan. Eye Witness accounts say as early as 5:00 AM this morning, a combined force of Nigerian Army Officers and Policemen led by CP Mbu, stormed the Otta Farm residence of the former President, on “orders from above”, and after a brief scuffle (during which Chief Obasanjo kicked 5 officers in the balls and punched CP Mbu in the throat), he was eventually subdued and whisked into a waiting Armored Personnel Carrier. #ShareAJoke www.posharena.com/breaking-formal-nigeria-president-olusegun-obasanjo-arrested-see-pic/ |
