President Bola Tinubu has emerged as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Tinubu succeeds President Umaro Embalo of Guinea Bissau as ECOWAS chair.

Tinubu’s emergence was announced at the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS.

The 63rd Ordinary Session summit was the first engagement of the President within the African continent since he assumed office on May 29, 2023.

President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. He was received by supporters. The President had on June 22, 2023 made his first official trip overseas after his inauguration as Nigeria’s new leader.
Tinubu was in Paris, France, alongside world leaders like French President, Emmanuel Macron for the New Global Financial Pact summit held at the Palais Brongniart.

After the two-day summit, the President proceeded to London, United Kingdom, for a “short private visit”, his spokesman, Dele Alake, said in a statement last Saturday, hinting that his principal will be back in Nigeria for the Eid-el-Kabir festivities on June 28 and 29, 2023.

President Bola Tinubu is on his way to Paris, France, to participate in the review and signing of a New Global Financial Pact that places vulnerable countries on priority list for support and investment.

He departed the presidential wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport, Abuja on Tuesday morning.

The Nigerian leader will join other world leaders in the two-day Summit, which will be held in Paris from Thursday, June 22 to 23.

President Tinubu will also use the opportunity to mobilize innovative financing for countries vulnerable to climate change as well as foster development in low-income countries, and encourage investment in “green” infrastructure for the energy transition in emerging and developing economies.

The President is accompanied on the trip by members of the Presidential Policy Advisory Council and senior government officials.

He will return to Abuja on Saturday June 24.

President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated the National Economic Council (NEC), with a promise to sustain the rejuvenation of the nations economy.

Addressing members Governors of the federation, President Tinubu charged the council to join forces to support his administration towards transforming the nations economy.

He reminded the council of the promise made during his inaugural speech that he would focus on 8 priority areas including Security, Economy, Job creation, Agriculture and Infrastructure among others.
