Finally, my visa got approved. After emailing them last week, as advised here, I got a mail from them the next day, saying I should drop my passport with DHL, which I did without hesitation. I collected my passport yesterday. I can't thank God enough, and I thank you all here for your advice. For those still having cases similar to mine (administrative processing), I wish you luck. From my experience, I learnt one should message them as frequent as possible so they would not forget one's case. Heya93: Hi friends, Please advice me. I'm losing it, cus I don't even know where I stand exactly. I reported this on the 10th of Nov, and till date, they've not gotten back to me. My resumption date is 3rd Jan. I emailed them, and they said they will contact me once the admin processing is over. Remember, my passport is with me . Do I still stand a chance? When I check my visa status, I see that "a VO has refused ur visa... If you were informed by the consular officer that your case was refused for administrative processing, your case will remain refused while undergoing such processing. You will receive another adjudication once such processing is complete". I've seen that most people placed under administrative processing have their passport collected. I'm so worried. Has anyone had a case similar to mine? Please let me know how it ended. |

Thanks. But I was actually given a yellow paper, and they emailed me same day to send additiinak information, which I did. vanessa969: Hi dear from what I understood from your message, you have your passport with you right?
I am sorry it’s difficult to hear but once the day of the interview they don’t collect your passport or they don’t give u a paper that says they are investigating it means that they didn’t approve. The admin processing if for everyone whether you were refused or not, then later they will update it. So try to work on getting another date but since your start date is January 3rd I feel the best thing for you is to defer.
PS: just my opinion pls |

I have sent the second time, and I keep getting automated replies. I have also tried calling their line, but there is no option to speak with someone. Please, does anyone know how best to get to them? I email them via AbujaVisaAdmin@state.gov. emmanuelle27: keep sending reminders, they should get back to you. |

Heya93: Hi Nairalanders, I v been following this page, and it was indeed helpful in my preparation for F1 visa interview, which held just some hours ago. However, I have an issue, which I wish to know if anyone has encountered.
I was served a yellow paper, instead of white or blue. The section ticked by the VO reads "your application requires administrative processing. You will be sent supplementary questions by email. Please complete the form and return to ...@state.gov".
Please, what does this mean? Do I still have a chance? Or is it a denial?

Highzhikk: Oh my, they sent this to me too. It's called DS5535. This is why they always say you must remember what you put in your DS160. I think you can put year of work only if you don't know exact date. Sure they will verify what you answer with what's on your ds160. Be as truthful as possible How did ur case end? U got approved afterward? Thank God I was able to recover the dates I filled in my ds-160 form. Thanks |

samuel321: No need to panick. You can retrieve 90% of the info you filled in your already submitted ds-160 even if you failed to take notes of all what you filled.
Just go to the site and click on retrieve application. After you’ve done that by filling your confirmation code and answering the questions asked. You will be shown two options which are ‘view confirmation page and create a new application ‘.
Click on ‘create a new application and you will be given a new confirmation code. Note that this new confirmation code won’t affect your previously submitted confirmation code so far you don’t submit the new one you are given.
After you’ve been given a new confirmation code and about to start filling your application, 90% of the details you filled in the old confirmation code will already be in the new code you’re given, just keep clicking on next till you get to the part you need your information from. And do not submit this new code when you get what you need, I do t know if it will affect your old code but it’s better you just exit after you’ve gotten what you need Thanks alot for this. I thought about it but was afraid of it affecting my current app. God bless |

Nawa oh. Thanks for the info Highzhikk: It could be as a result of your degree major or travel history, or a name hit. I was placed on administrative Processing because I studied Biotechnology in Russia for my MSc. It will only take some time but you will eventually get your visa, if you do everything they ask you to do right. I had to wait for 60 days in my case. |

I just got a mail from the embassy. They attached a form that requires my info, including bio data, work experience, addresses lived in the last 15 years, social media handles, email addresses and phone numbers used in the last five yrs, and also names and date of birth fo all my siblings. For a reason I don't know, I was not able to download my ds-160 form after completion. Immediately I clicked to download, I was logged out, and when I logged in, I couldn't access it again. I had the options (till date) of downloading only the confirmation page ( I don't know if anyone has experienced such). My issue now is, particularly in work experience, my dates where not accurate. The only two jobs I filled in are my undergraduate trainee and an online freelance editing jobs, of which there was no official termination. Hmece, I just chose random dates. Now, bcus I can't access my ds-160 form, I can't remember the exact dates I filled in. Could this have detrimental implications? I'm just confused. Please help if you can Heya93: Hi Nairalanders, I v been following this page, and it was indeed helpful in my preparation for F1 visa interview, which held just some hours ago.
