Christianity EtcRe: Yes, Christ Was Really Born On December 25 by hglmkope(f): 10:27pm On Dec 26, 2014
Whether he was born on the 25th of December or any other day is not so important. The most important thing is the fact that he was born. He came into this world so that we all might be saved.

Please let us not dwell on the not so important things while ignoring the main things.

The fact that you celebrate the day does not make you less christian than those that do not (and vice versa). Everyone to his or her own opinion in as much as you are keeping his commandments and doing his will.
The motive behind the celebration is also important. For those who celebrate do you see yourself celebrating the Roman festival of Saturnalia or the birth of unconquered sun? What is essential is doing it to the glory of God ("And whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God"wink.

Moreover, the last time I checked, that was not part of the commandments. So we are not under any compulsion.
CareerRe: Biochemists,biochemistry Students And Aspirants.lets Meet Here by hglmkope(f): 9:56pm On Dec 22, 2014
Hello!
I am currently pursuing a MSc. degree in Biochemistry. I love biochemistry so much though, during my undergraduate days, I was made to believe that Biochemistry is a very hard programmme. This is probably because of the fact that most biochemistry lecturers in Nigeria focus on the not so important things while neglecting the core of the discipline that can give rise to nobel researches and discoveries that will improve the total health and well being of individuals.
FamilyRe: A Thread For "Everything Polygamy"! by hglmkope(f): 9:00am On Sep 25, 2014
GodsDivinefavor: In everything I do, I try to ask myself which role I played. What I did right/wrong or what I should have done that I never did.

Where did I get it wrong, my dress sense, attittude, good or bad cook even poor romance culture abi bad bedmatics?

Sincerely, I never saw it coming.

Every marriage is as old as the first child, my firstborn is 6+ and wedding formalities completed a year after our firstborn up till registry.

Besides, I work with a pharnaceutical company and earn well, not totally dependent on him. So am not over bordering him and also contribute the upkeep of the home.

Have come to realise that one can only know him/her self, you cannot vouch for any other person no matter the kind of relationship.

Maybe hubby had these mapped out or its the mistake he claimed, it is only the men who can know better and help answer these.
Most times, you do not have to do anything. I conducted a personal research and discovered that about 60% of those from a polygamous home have the tendency to start or find themselves in a polygamous home. One of the reasons for this is the fact that polygamy is in the blood and history has a way of repeating itself except we take certain steps.

I also found out that those that are not affected presently were those that saw it as a major problem, despised it and took certain steps (like praying, changing the mindset and minding who they associate with).

It is well with you dear. I believe you when you said that it is not your fault. At this stage, you need wisdom because it can be really frustrating.
FamilyRe: A Thread For "Everything Polygamy"! by hglmkope(f): 12:08pm On Sep 21, 2014
I am from a polygamous family but I have vowed and prayed that by the Grace of God I will not find myself in that situation in Jesus name. I am not just praying it, i am working towards it and I know that God will grant me the desires of my heart.

My mom and step mother had been staying and eating together under the same roof for almost 25 yrs now and in fact most people envy our type of polygamous home because we all live together in peace. I will give credit to my dad for that. He tries as much as possible to treat every of his children equally without giving much preference to either of his wives.
As a child, i detested the whole polygamy stuff and I remembered when I was 7 seven years, I asked my mom why she married my dad (my mum is the 2nd wife and she did not know until she was pregnant). I also told her that she could have walked away with her first child(my sister) when she knew.

During the early years of my life, i hated everything about my family but as I grew, i realised that this is the one thing that I can not change about my life. Ever since then, I love and treat every one with great admiration and respect.

Despite the fact that my family seems to live together in peace, I cannot deny that there were times where envying and strife set in especially when one child excel more than the other.
Take for instance, there was a time when myself and my eldest step brother went to write post UME in one University, I gained admission but he did not. I felt the friction between us during that time. We used to be very close but all of a sudden he was cold to me. I understood then and all I did was just to pray ceaselessly that God should grant him the desires of his heart and God did that just that.

Based on this experience and many others that I cannot share here, I have decided that polygamy is not an option for me. Conflicts among children with the same parents is more than enough. I do not want to compound issues for my unborn children.
HealthRe: Medical Experts And Volunteers Against Ebola. Let's Meet Here! by hglmkope(f): 8:04pm On Aug 08, 2014
At Op
What are your plans? what do you think we can do as volunteers? I am thinking of sending random messages to people about the signs and symptoms and how to prevent the disease from spreading. I also hope to include the Lagos State Government numbers to call when suspected and probable cases are found in our community. I am also creating awareness in my present location which is in Ota (though my effort so far is little) I believe that most people on social media are well informed. But what about those who do not have access to tv and internet.

I am personally not scared of the disease because I have Jesus and though "a thousand shall fall at my side and ten thousand at my right hand none shall come near me and my family because I have made the Lord my refuge and the most High my Habitation"

However my heart bleeds for the innocent individuals that may be affected. It is well.
FamilyRe: Help! by hglmkope(f): 8:48pm On Jul 27, 2014
I do not think you need to be scared or worried. You are still young, though not too young for marriage. I think you should channel your effort in developing yourself more in order to be the right person for your future husband.
Singleness is a stage that is meant for preparation for marriage, it is to be cherished and not despised. Learn as much as you can now, develop your self emotionally, spiritually, mentally, financially and in all other aspect of life.
Don't give in to pressure from anyone because it is your life and not theirs. Most importantly, while doing your part go to God in prayers, communicate your fears to him. Ask him to lead you and guide you to yours because he knows the end from the beginning.
I am doing all that presently.
HealthRe: Why We Can’t Call Off The Strike Because Of Ebola Outbreak – Lagos Medical Docto by hglmkope(f): 7:23pm On Jul 27, 2014
Sincerely have doctors forgotten the oath they swore before entering the profession. I think it is high time we start a profession or go for job because of the love we have for the job and not just for meeting our needs. Life is all about rendering services to humanity. That is the joy and fulfillment of life.
While watching a documentary on the first Ebola outbreak, I was so surprised, encouraged and happy at the way the local doctors fought for the lives of their patients despite the disapproval of their methods by international practitioners sent to them by World Health Organization and also despite extremely inadequate facility (It started in a remote area in Sudan). They succeeded in saving some lives who will forever be grateful for their efforts.
I am definitely not in support of our government, but we can use other means to make our request known while we improvised with what we have at present. If not for anything, for the lives of those whose death would have been prevented if only we were available to render our little help. I am so sure that the cries of those who were dead based on our negligence and carefree attitude go out to God and we all are going to give account of all our actions one day.
When I was sick, you did not tend to me…
FoodRe: Bush Meat Eaters: Do You Know The Kind Of Animal Behind The Bush Meat You Eat? by hglmkope(f): 6:28pm On Jul 27, 2014
Though Ebola virus is not endemic in Nigeria, and I pray and hope that we are not going to experience an outbreak in Nigeria due to international migration of infected individuals from affected regions of West Africa. However, for bush meat eaters I will like to let you know that there are countless of zoonotic (from animal to humans) diseases that you can be infected with via consumption of bush meat.
One good example is HIV/AIDS which evolved from a virus in chimpanzee that was transferred to humans via bites from hunting or consumption as bush meat.
Another example is Lassa fever, a hemorrhagic fever which is endemic in Nigeria. It is caused by a virus present in a particular type of rat that is mostly consumed as meat.
I could go on and on with the list which is almost endless.
Most people claim that they have been eating bush meat for ages and nothing has happened to them. It is possible that you are an asymptomatic (showing no symptoms of illness) carrier but your loved ones might not be and you can easily transfer the disease to them via various means.
I saw someone eating alligator and I was like whathuhhuhhuh? I just cannot stop to wonder at the extent at which people go to satisfy their appetite.
Though all things are lawful for me but not all are expedient and as such I won’t be brought under the power of any.
Science/TechnologyRe: NASA Scientists Finds Message From God On Planet Mars by hglmkope(f): 8:43pm On Jul 08, 2013
I believe that there is one true God who reigns forever and I do not need any more proof to believe, honour Him and do all that He bids me to do tru His grace. He has made His invisible qualities (His eternal and divine nature)2 be seen and understood from the things he hath created. If only we can think deeply and stop being too familiar with certain things we will know that He exists. There are different scientific explanation for events of life like the way of a pregnant woman and her foetus, aw we grow teeth, hair on our body and head, d rising and setting of the sun, aw d world came into existence just to mention a few. I have just one explanation for all"God at work"
