Crime / Re: Delta State: 5 Cold Case Murders 2017 Couldn’t Solve by Hi5(m): 6:01am On Jan 04, 2018
RadicallyBlunt:
"Cold murder cases" not "cold case murder"
Cold Case Murder is correct. You are wrong. Cold murder means entirely a different thing. Cold Case murder is a murder that is unsolved and no longer under investigation.
Crime / Delta State: 5 Cold Case Murders 2017 Couldn’t Solve by Hi5(m): 4:51am On Jan 03, 2018
These were brutal and gruesome murders and they have never been solved; they are cold and no longer the subject of a current criminal investigation. Well, there was at point when these cases were pursued diligently by investigators, but eventually abandoned not because of a lack of evidence, but to prevent the culprits from prosecution. Although these murders may vary in their details, they all have one thing in common: barbaric, horrific, gruesome, politically motivated and unresolved. XCLUSIVE MAGAZINE takes a look at Five (5) of the most high-profile gruesome murders in Delta State that 2017 could not solve.

1. Alfred Rewane (Lagos):
Alfred Rewane was from Warri, but the 79-year-old from Warri was murdered on 6 October 1995 at his residence in Ikeja, Lagos. Rewane was a major financier of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), a broad coalition of Nigerian democrats that was vocal in its opposition to the military regime of Sani Abacha. Out of the seven suspects arrested by the police, five of them, Ola Obanuso, Sylvester Iyabele, Sunday Ogbeide, Akeem Alli and Sunday Obanobi, purportedly died in questionable circumstances in detention. The trial of the other two suspects, Elvis Irenuna and Lucky Igbinovia, continued until 2011 when they were acquitted and discharged by a Lagos High Court. Justice Olusola Williams decided that there was nothing to support the case of the prosecution. Pa Rewane’s murder remains one of the most high profile cold cases in Nigeria that include Bola Ige and Ray Ekpu.

2. Ogbe Onokpite (warri):
On 26 November 2011, Chief Ogbe Onokpite was murdered at Beeland Hotel, Orhuwhorun in Udu Local Government Area. The 38-year-old Onokpite was extra-judicially murdered by the Nigerian Police on allegation of gun-running. Ibrahim Tsafe, the then Delta State Commissioner of Police, claimed that Chief Onokpite was intercepted when he “was negotiating for arms in the hotel,” and he was killed during exchange of gun fire. Tsafe’s claim ran counter to A Driver’s Account. He said that the man who led and coordinated the attack against Chief Onokpite was heard saying several times on the phone saying, “Yes your Excellency.” Chief Onokpite was the candidate of the Citizens Peoples Party (CPP) in the Delta State 2007 and 2011 gubernatorial elections against sitting Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan.

3. Emeka Onianwa (Ibusa):
In a Petition to the Inspector General of Police, signed by his solicitor, Barrister Femi Okafor, Chief Azuya, mentor to the deceased, it is alleged that Delta State House of Assembly Chief Whip Mrs Pat Princess Ajudua, her husband Chief (Barr.) Fred Ajudua, Hon Innocent Esewezie and eleven other suspects conspired and murdered Emeka Onianwa in Ibusa Oshimili North Local Government of Delta State during the 2015 House of Assembly election...

Nairaland / General / Nnamdi Kanu, Biafra And Ice Cream… by Hi5(m): 6:48pm On Sep 05, 2017
Addiction is a dangerous pleasure. I had a guilty pleasure – Ice cream! It used to blow my brain. That was in my teen. How I got hooked to Vanilla remained a mystery till date. It was the only cocaine I knew.

Our soft love hit the rocks when I hit 40, years ago. The divorce was entirely mine. I found out that life is a double pill. Sweet and sour.

Man is in stages. Life is in phases. Completely out of my prime, Ice cream turned sweeter than sweet. Funny and fake on my adult lips.

Each time I watch Nnamdi Kanu on TV, I remember Ice cream – Sweet and soft. But sometimes he appears unreal! The self appointed head of Indigenous people of Biafra IPOB is my brother, but I cannot hazard a guess if he loves Ice cream. The other time at world Igbo congress, he demanded for guns and bullets.

He is fixated with separatism. He sees self determination as the panacea to tearful Igbo marginalization by an insensitive senseless Nigerian government. But the truth is that no revolution comes only with nice sounding speeches. War is the ultimate way.

Read the Greek wars. Ask Ghana’s Jerry Rawlings. Arab spring in the Middle East cost blood. Irish people got freedom from Britain after a terrible fight from 1919- 1921. Mandela with all his wonderful glory was not a dove. His words were the inflammable fuel that sparked revolts and reforms which dismantled monstrous Apartheid.

Can Nnamdi Kanu with his effeminate looks, bred in stress-free London face bloodshed? Born in the 70s after the civil war, can he recognize the sound of Ogbunigwe? Can he stand the shocking tremble of AK 47 rifle in his supple palms? Is he Nzeogwu, “Okwa Mgbor” – master of weapons? Or Ojukwu, the Odimegwu of all warriors who started Biafra but never consummated it? How old is Kanu? What does the young boy know about Biafran genocide which claimed my bright elder brother? Have we stopped mourning at home?...

Politics / FRAUD ALERT: Okowa Blows N10b Paris Refund On BVN, Cars by Hi5(m): 4:09pm On Aug 16, 2017
Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa went on a spending spree after collecting 10 Billion Naira Paris Refund from the federal Government, spending a whopping sum of nearly N180m in “related salaries” for the “Restoration of Bank Verification Number (BVN) Issues” alone. N85,339,400.00 was paid out in April 2017 and N88,619,700.00 was paid out in May 2017, totalling N173,959,100.00.

In an expenditure breakdown titled, “Brief on Utilization of N10 Billion Refund to Delta state of 3rd Tranche Excess Deductions on Foreign Debt Servicing by the Federal Government,” presented on behalf of the State government by commissioner for Information Patrick Ukah, the profligate Delta State government claims to have spent the N10 billion Refund to the last kobo.

XCLUSIVE MAGAZINE contacted Mr Ukah by text to provide further details on how such humongous sum was expended in the restoration of Bank Verification Number (BVN) that would have ordinarily cost nothing, but he did not reply to our text message. However, a source inside the Government House who did not what to be named told XCLUSIVE MAGAZINE that “Screening was done for all Delta State workers for which they were asked to add their BVN to the form. The government needed to match the information workers submitted with their bank records. It helped fished out workers who falsified their age. It was an independent contractor that did this screening and he had to be paid from the Paris Refund.”

A banking expert dismissed the government insider’s BVN claim as “Nonsense talk,” insisting that “it was a way of giving out money to a crony-consultant pretending to help resolve BVN which is merely a verification of account numbers and tying them to the account holders and signatories. Restoration of a BVN involves no charge whatsoever.”...

Politics / UNCOVERED: Secret Hang-out Spot Where Okowa’s Commissioners Live Life Of Luxury by Hi5(m): 5:07pm On Jul 27, 2017
XCLUSIVE MAGAZINE has uncovered the secret hang-out spot where Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s Commissioners live a life of luxury and debauchery. We can authoritatively report that Didoz VIP Lounge on 40 DBS Road, Asaba, capital of Delta State, is where Delta State top government functionaries sneak in every Wednesday and Saturday to pay huge wad to frolic with strippers and lap up women of easy virtues.

Owned by Engr Fidel Onwordi, who is based in Lagos but whose family are holed up in Blanchardstown area of Dublin Ireland, Didoz was launched in October 2015 as a normal night club, but has quickly garnered reputation as a honey spot or pot for Delta State top government functionaries.

A very credible insider source, who knows the Nite Club inside out, describes it to XCLUSIVE MAGAZINE: “Downstairs in Didoz VIP Lounge are the normal Club things: the music and everyday people, party goers dancing away. But move Upstairs area, which is called the Private Chambers, the Nite Club takes a whole new live...

Politics / Senator Nwaoboshi At 60: The Gathering Of Hyenas And Jackals by Hi5(m): 12:55pm On Jul 18, 2017
Chief Peter Nwaoboshi, the Nigerian Senator representing Delta North senatorial constituency, celebrates his 60th birthday today in Ibusa, Oshimili North LGA of Delta State. The event kicked off with a Thanksgiving mass at St Augustine’s Catholic Church Ibusa at 9:30am. Reception followed immediately at Nwaoboshi’s Ibusa Residence.

It is a gathering of “the hyenas and Jackals,” a euphemism for the power hungry, the womanisers, the looters of our commonwealth. Here is the notorious list of the attendees:

Senate President, Bukola Saraki
Bukola Saraki was recently embroiled in a legal battle with Nigeria’s Code of Conduct Bureau. The Code of Conduct Bureau had on 11 September 2015 slammed a 13-count charge of corruption offences ranging from anticipatory declaration of assets to false declaration of assets in forms he filed before the Code of Conduct Bureau while he was governor of Kwara State. Saraki eventually fought off these charges, although it was alleged that he “settled” the judge with US$2 million.

Senator Dino Melaye
Dino Melaye, Senator representing Kogi West, is embroiled in an election recall saga after members of his Constituents of Kogi West Senatorial District submitted a petition, which had signatures of more than 52 per cent of the electorate in the area, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) demanding his recall from the Senate. Leader of the constituents, Chief Cornelius Olowo, said that the move to recall Malaye was based on his “abysmal performance” since he was elected to represent the district in 2015. Dino Malaye, like Saraki, fought off the recall that has now been suspended after the Senate allegedly threatened to probe the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, served as TETFUND’s Executive Secretary from 2007 to 2012.

Ex-convict James Ibori
Ibori recently served 13 years in a U.K. jail for fraud and money laundering. And one of the counts Ibori admitted to at his trial, related to a $37m (£23m) fraud pertaining to the sale of Delta State’s share in Nigerian privatised phone company company V Mobile. The ex-convict is being feted since he returned from UK jail, and not too long ago, he received the delivery of two N136m worth Armoured SUV from Okowa and has been receiving the State pension of N50 million yearly and other perks since 2008 . In this video that recorded the celebration of Ibori’s release from prison, Nwaoboshi was seen boasting to the world that Ibori, while is was in prison, made him Senator, made his daughter Erhiatake a member of State House of Assembly member, and annointed two governors in the state, apparently referring to Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan and Dr Okowa...

Crime / Japanese Police Run Out Of Crimes, Nigerian Police Overrun By Kidnappers by Hi5(m): 4:31pm On Jul 02, 2017
Japanese police are running out of crimes to deal with. According to local sources, there was just one fatal shooting in Japan in the whole of 2015. But while Japanese police are running out of crimes to fight, Nigerian Police have been overrun with myriads of criminal activities such as kidnapping and armed robbery.

No wonder the arrest On 11 June 2017 of Nigeria’s most notorious kidnapper Evans by the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigerian police was celebrated with trophy selfies splattered all over social media, an action that was heavily criticised by superstar nollywood actress Kate Henshaw, lambasting Nigerian police as unprofessional.

But the Japanese police have one thing in common with their Nigerian counterpart: they are oddly inefficient. Even though there are so many officers and so few crimes, they solve less than 30% of them. Confessions, often made under duress, form the basis of most criminal prosecutions. The courts dismissed the case of the beer thief in Kagoshima, despite all the work that went into it. “Japan is almost crime-free not thanks to the police,” says Yoshihiro Yasuda, a campaigning lawyer, to The Economist “but because people police themselves.”

Celebrities / “I Wanna See D Big Cassava,” Female Fans Call Out Flavour by Hi5(m): 4:21pm On Jun 14, 2017
Flavour shared a Sexy Dance Video and it broke the internet, but it also appeared to have landed him in big trouble with his female fans. The Nigerian music superstar was supposed to be celebrating his upcoming new album. He then posted a sexy video of himself on his instagram account.

But it is not the upcoming album that his fans are talking about. It is his “missing” Cassava. One female fan screamed, “I can’t see d cassava oga flavour….. I wanna see d big cassava.”

Another echoed, “Flavor cassava don vanish due to too much hmm hmmm….”

Politics / Re: Photos : Senator Nwaoboshi Builds House For Reverend Sisters by Hi5(m): 4:52am On Jun 01, 2017
I was thinking that the senator did well by building a house for the reverend sisters, but after reading a news story - "Nwaoboshi’s Greek Gift to Rev. Sisters, Agenda 2019" - that analysed the supposedly good gesture of the Nigerian senator, I am now having a second thought. It appears online shopping websites are cropping up by the day. I stumbled on MaxiMega Deals http://www.maximegadeals.com recently. The site looked so cool! I was tempted to explore it further. Unlike other online shopping mall in Nigeria that function more as a market place, this one is strictly all about deals and so they have products with far cheaper prices. Wow! I have been buying from MaxiMega Deals ever since!

Politics / Re: BREAKING: Boko Haram Strikes Again In Adamawa, Kidnaps 40 Girls by Hi5(m): 4:19pm On Oct 23, 2014
Nigeria is a hopeless case o! Just this last week, on Friday, it was all over local and international papers and magazines that Nigeria military and Boko Haram had Called a Truce.

According to one of magazine, "Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, said today, Friday 17 October 2014 that Nigerian military has agreed truce with Boko Haram. And that the abducted schoolgirls will be released. Mr. Badeh has also ordered all field officers to comply with the agreement immediately."- See more at: http://xclusive.ng/nigeria-boko-haram-agree-truce/#sthash.KjzGzqfE.dpuf

But reading the story, I noticed that the truce announcement was from only the Nigerian military. No Boko Haram representative came out to corroborate the ceasefire agreement. No wonder Boko Haram is still killing innocent people. Nigeria we hail thee!

Health / Re: W.H.O Has Officially Declared Nigeria Ebola Free by Hi5(m): 7:36pm On Oct 21, 2014
WHO officially declares that Nigeria is now free of Ebola virus transmission after 42 days without new cases. And it also commends Nigeria for its diligence in fighting the disease.

In a statement released by WHO representative Rui Gama Vaz, told a news conference in the capital Abuja on Monday, 20 October 2014, report, he called Nigeria’s fight against Ebola a spectacular success story.

“Nigeria is now free of Ebola. The virus is gone for now. The outbreak in Nigeria has been defeated. This is a spectacular success story that shows to the world that Ebola can be contained,” Vaz said.

Adverts / I Want To Place A Simple Advert (career Announcement) by Hi5(m): 1:46pm On Sep 30, 2014
I want to place a simple Advert (career announcement) for freelance writers. I have checked your "how to advertise" section, but it appears that the focus of that page is on those who want detail, with graphic, advertisements. I just want a simple announcement, something like this (as you have stated):

Adverts: Announcements, commercial posts, public notices. Ad Rate: ₦892.43/week (6.6% discount).

Can someone in charge of this group please send me a message on how to go about this. I also want to suggest another form of advert, if that will be agreeable to Nairaland Management.

I could not locate any means of contacting the Nairaland Management hence my sending this as a post.

Thanks.
