Mohammed Lawan Fugu pictured above, who is a lecturer in the department of Building Engineering, Ramat Polytechnic in Maiduguri, Borno state was murdered by unknown persons at the 1000 housing estate in Maiduguri on Saturday August 6th. The state police command is currently investigating the motive behind his death. May his soul rest in peace Amen.

A 6-year-old Afghani girl known as Gharibgol has been sold into marriage after her father allegedly exchanged her for a goat, rice, tea, sugar and cooking oil.Thankfully, a concerned relative raised the alarm about the wedding which led to the arrest of the groom, Seyed Abdolkarim and the girl's father.
According to the father, he and his family were desperate for food and by selling his daughter he had one less mouth to feed. He also insisted that the new husband of the girl had sworn not to have sex with her until she turned 18.After the wedding, Abdolkarim reportedly took the girl to a relative's house in Firozkoh, in Ghor province, pretending she was his daughter.But the concerned relative raised the alarm, insisting Abdolkarim was 'undressing her at night'. Abdolkarim then told a relative: 'No [she's not my daughter], she's my wife, her father gave her to me.'
Not convinced, the relative opened up to a friend on the matter and the friend promptly called the local women's rights bureau.Responding to the situation, the bureau says it will pursue a divorce and ensure the father is stripped of his parental rights. The girl is reportedly now living with her mother. Women in Afghanistan are allowed to marry from the age of 16, and men from 18. Just recently, a 60-year-old cleric in Afghanistan was reported to have kidnapped and married a 6-year-old girl insisting she was a 'spiritual offering'

Kogi State Governor's convoy into an accident scene between Gegu and Abaji on the Lokoja-Abuja Expressway Friday.
According to the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Yahaya Bello on New Media, Petra Akinti Onyegbule, the accident involved an SUV and a commercial bus which was traveling from Lagos to Kano. Both vehicles were said to have been engulfed in flames burning 16 passengers to death. 3 of the dead passengers were in the SUV while 13 were occupants of the bus.
A lone survivor from the bus has been taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. May the souls of the victims rest in peace. Wishing the survivor a speedy recovery.

A 27-year-old German man has been arrested on suspicion of starting a devastating wildfire in Canary Island. According to reports, he confessed to police that the fire accidentally began when he lit used toilet paper after going to the toilet. This was because he didn't want to discard the soiled paper as rubbish and so he decided to burn it, with no intention of causing a fire.

The fire however broke out in the Jedey mountain area on the Island and spiraled out of control. The blaze, which was tackled on the ground by firefighters and from the air with the help of four helicopters & a specialist plane, claimed more than 250 acres of pine forest. A forest worker tackling the blaze lost his life and 700 people were evacuated from their homes as a precaution.

The German is expected to appear before an investigating judge in a private court hearing later today and a military response unit has also been drafted in to help local fire crews.

Shakira Martin, Former Miss Jamaica Universe is dead. The 30 year old beauty died on Wednesday August 3rd at Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines from blood clots on both lungs and complications of sickle cell anemia she had since birth, According to Jamaican Observer who reported her death;
'Former Miss Jamaica Universe Shakira Martin died at a hospital in Florida last night due to complications with the sickle cell disease. She was 30 years old.


'Martin’s mother, Andrea Hall, confirmed her death in a social media post earlier today. “My darling princess Shakira Aminah passed away at 12:28am from complications from sickle cell blood clots to both lungs” she said.

In a statement released by the Spokesperson of Niger Delta Avengers, Brig.Gen Mudoch Agbinibo, the Militant group requested that Press should not misquote them and link them to the activities of criminals in other parts of Nigeria. The statement read,
The Nigeria press community should not misquote the NDA on our statement on the Nigeria military killing innocent civilians in Arepo, Ogun State. The High command of the NDA only bemoaned and condemns the reckless war game that the military is embarking upon with the lives and property of defenseless law abiding citizens in those communities while the criminals have fled the area. We should not be linked to activities of criminals and illegal bunkering going on in any part of the country that the Nigeria security agencies are the main benefactors and collaborators.

The military should not use such contrived video clips to justify their killings and destruction of property of defenseless citizens in Ogun State. That we cannot be intimidated by these video clips of propaganda and drones.

The press and the general public should not quote us out of context; we only expressed our concern on the bombing by the government. When the criminals have already fled the crime scene. Which amount to the death of innocent citizens in Arepo. So the military should stop justification of extra judicial killings. That is our position.
