Are you for real? You are 10 times richer than Kenya yet you are lagging behind in all sectors. I wonder where Kenya would have been with that amount in their economical and infrastructural capacity building. Currently Kenya is giving South Africa a run for its money in all departments without the natural resources like gold and diamonds feeding its GDP.
Kenya currently boasts of the second biggest port outside S. Africa. Its building a second bigger port in Lamu Kenya. Another bigger inland port that will be fed by the new standard gauge railway system is in the process of being actualized in Naivasha.

MY CONPARTIOTS ARE REALLY MAKING SPIRITED EFFORTS AND I CAN FEEL THEIR EXASPERATION TRYING TO SOURCE INFO AND PICTURES FROM CHAOTIC SOCIETY TO PRESENT NIGERIA AS AN ELDORADO .THEY CAN BE COMPARED TO STUDENTS IN AN EXAM HALL ,WHILE KENYANS ARE PREPARED FOR THE EXAM COMING FROM AN ORGANISED SOCIETY, NIGERIANS ARE LIKE STUDENTS WHILING AWAY THEIR TIME AND START TO PREPARE ON THE EVE OF THE EXAM.
NIGERIANS ARE GOOD AND LIKE GOOD THINGS BUT WE HAVE BEEN VERY UNLUCKY TO HAVE LEADERS WHO UNDERSTAND WHAT DEVELOPMENT IS ALL ABOUT. I LOVE ORGANISED SOCIETY AND TOURISM SO AS A LOT OF NIGERIANS.I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE A LOT OF NIGERIANS IN THE REGISTER IN THE HOUSE MANDELA LIVED IN SOWETO BEFORE HE FLED ON EXILE.
RECENTLY KENYA CHANGED THEIR CONSTITUTION FOR PROGRESS AND DEVELOPMENT WITHOUT RANCOR BUT SUCH HAS BEEN RESISTED IN NIGERIA, SO HOW CAN WE GO FORWARD WITH THIS. WITH ENORMOUS MATERIAL AND HUMAN RESOURCES WE HAVE, WE STILL LACK WHAT OTHER LESS ENDOWED AFRICAN COUNTRIES TAKE FOR GRANTED.I TOOK TWO DAYS OFF LAST WEEK JUST TO BE INDOORS, READ,BROWSE, MEDITATE AND SLEEP BUT THE HEAT WAS MUCH AND THERE WAS NO LIGHT WHILE I HAVE A.C. I HAD TO LOOK FOR A BUDGET HOTEL TO CHECK IN JUST FOR A.C..IT WAS VERY FRUSTRATING WHILE , MY COUNTERPARTS IN KENYA HAVE CONSTANT LIGHT.
A PROBLEM IDENTIFIED IS HALF_SOLVED.WE MUST ALWAYS TELL OURSELVES THE TRUTH TO IMPROVE. NO MATTER HOW LONG THIS LASTS ,THE TRUTH IS THAT KENYA IS ORGANIZED, PROGRESSING ,ALLURING AND ENCHANTING NIGERIA IS VERY CHAOTIC.FOREIGNERS COME HERE TO MAKE CHEAP MONEY IN OIL SECTOR WITH CORRUPT GOVT AND RUSH OFF.LET NIGERIANS RISE AND GOOD GOVERNANCE FROM LEADERS AND STOP PRETENDING AS IF THINGS WERE OKAY.

Just my thoughts, at 4 times the population, one would expect Nigeria to have at least 4 cities of Nairobi's status and say 4 of that of Mombasa as a snapshot. One would expect the Nigerian Govt to have a budget 4 times that of Kenya, road infrastructure at least 4 times longer, all these just to reach Kenya's development level. but we all know that's far from the reality.

Let me be a little educative since your level of ignorance is beyond apprehension. I will give you a breakdown of the cities and towns in Kenya and their influence on the local community/ies.

ECONOMIC PROSPECTS

1. NAIROBI
Industrial zone-basic utility manufacturing
Government amenities(Parliament, Senate, office of the President) etc
Transport hub- JKIA (Jomo Kenyatta int. Airport)
Tourist attraction- Nairobi National park, Nairobi animal orphanage, Bird watching & site seeing -Karura forest
Medical Hub- Kenyatta National Hospital(Biggest in East & Central Africa)
Academic Center- Kenyatta Uni. Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture, Nairobi Uni, Strathmore etc

The truth is, those projects were initiated by the government and it will provide jobs and attract foreigners to invest in Nigeria.

Even after the apartments are occupied, they need to by furnitures made by Nigerians, employ workers, etc I can go on and on.

There is difference between Highrise and Skyscraper.

Highrise is determined by a building with at 12 stories while a skyscraper is determined by a the height with must be at least 100 meters.

If we go by that standard Lagos has more than 100 highrise and I think it is more than Nairobi.

Nigerian contributors to this forum have only been showcasing the affluent areas where the few minority rich leave but ignoring the actual topic..... The Kenyans have tried to show you the different projects initiated by the government to revolutionize the local Kenyan citizen at the grassroots. But the Nigerians have turned it into a dick measuring contest where instead of comparing which public hospital is the biggest Nigerians are busy showing us how the few millionaires are the beneficiaries are benefactors of their oil wealth.

You might be right that I was shocked beyond repair that Kenya is not only about Nairobi and that there are other well planned and beautiful cities like Mombasa and Nakuru but truly truly we have a lot of developed cities.

It has become a competition to make sure a city is better than the others.

I have been to Duoala, Yaounde, Lome, Addisa baba (I wasn't impressed then), Cotonue and Accra. I can assuredly tell you that Lagos and Abuja are better than most of these cities.

They have one or two good cities and that's all though I don't know much about Ethiopia's cities.

Accra is beautiful and well organized but Lagos and Abuja are more developed than it.

We have good cities in the Northern part of Nigeria too.

We have well planned cities like Abuja, Calabar, Kaduna, Port Harcourt and Enugu. Although, I don't know much about the Northern part but I can assure you that they have planned cities too.


But when it comes to developed cities we have more than Kenya. These are the most developed cities arranged according to development. Though some Nigerians may not agree but it's just my own opinion. But the top 10 are assuredly developed. Mombasa may even be competiting with Port Harcourt.

The problem is in Ibadan you have to select the nicest places to get a good photo, in Nakuru I could drop you anywhere in the city and you would take a beautiful photo from there. Nakuru is clean with nice roads in all neighborhoods, good hotels, a national park nearby, a lake and it's beautiful. Nakuru also has no slums.

7. All schools have a school bus exclusive for the students

The University of Nairobi (UoN) has been rated as the best in Kenya and sixth in Africa.

This is according to Webometrics, 4ICU, Times Higher Education (THE) and the Journals Consortium.

In the Webometrics ranking of January 2016, in which over 24,000 world institutions were ranked, the UoN emerged in position 697 in the world and sixth in Africa.

Kenyatta University was second in Kenya, position 30 in Africa and 1,915 in the world, followed by Moi University (54 in Africa, 2,492 in the world).

According to another 2016 global ranking by 4International Colleges and Universities, (4ICU), the University of Nairobi was ranked top, followed by Egerton University, Moi University, Kenyatta University, and Strathmore.
