Hi Amazonrck, Getting a daycare for kids around the university is always not an easy thing; and I can assure you the VO is aware of such (some university's daycare centre even have well over 2 year waiting period on their list). I doubt any daycare will even reserve a space for that long till you resume (that's on the condition you find any). The only daycare you might end up with eventually might be a private one and that can't be easily arranged until you get it. A friend in a similar situation with you, registered on the waitlist of about 5 different daycares on the province's website and that page was what she included in her application You don't have to leave your son behind, if I am in the position of a VO, I will question leaving a year old baby with his father. amazonrck: 1 Like |

For the transcript to be regarded as 'Official', it has to be sent directly from your University to Dalhousie university. I think all the courier services you stated are equally good Josh1996: |

I think there is enough information on CIC website to aid an informed decision about what an accompanying child should apply for. Unfortunately, there seems to be no one here at the moment who has experienced this before; may be that would have helped with the answer she is looking for specifically which she seems to be looking for as well In the absence of that, your advise to chat VFS is the way to go, which i am sure they would refer her to links addressing this issue on CIC website. I will also advise him not to work especially if it is clearly stated on the condition in his study permit. He might be coming to visit family or friends and that's ok. I do not know why we Nigerians always want to 'outsmart' any system and rules set by another country and that's why 'anything goes' in Nigeria. All these things Nigerians do, they see all and then we all complain about how difficult it is to obtain visa. (I mean see the unnecessary stress to obtain visa from Nigeria; Nigerians applying for visa from other countries do not go through half of these stress even with out green passport). Truth is the canadian system may not have alot of things in place to check if anyone is flouting their laws but trust me anyone one snitched on/caught is always used as a scape goat. You only tend not to hear, just a few out of many. Here are somethings people do if they want to work without authorization; either get an 'under the table job' or go as far as fabricating a social insurance number, SIN. C'mon y'all let's be cautioned...all these little things count, may be not for you but definitely other people coming after. mcobex: 5 Likes |

As much as i understand you, i have a lot of friends who came in from Nigeria months before their resumption. They got the same question you asked him to prepare for which for most people they say it is to help familiarize and settle down. The only restriction given at the POE for such that i have seen is the immigration officer states on their study permit that they can only work after they are registered in school. If they do not expect that it might happen that some people would choose to come in earlier, i guess they could have as well stamped a date close to your resumption date on your TRV instead of the very date of approval which makes you admissible into Canada from that moment on. I only answered his questions as to if it is possible to enter Canada months before his resumption which is YES. The intentions and all that you are raising are left for him to be the judge of that if he thinks his reasons are genuine enough. My thought Oshey9999: |

In my opinion, i still do not feel there will be a problem. Your flight could have taken you through US if you have a US visa to fly through. Practically, no straight flight from Nigeria to Canada, so anyone coming from Nigeria to Canada flies through another country. If you plan to spend some days or weeks in US after flying from Nigeria before entering Canada, just have your story straight, the immigration at the POE will not really bother about that...it is that simple. sogima: |
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by HiSignature: 4:29pm On May 11, 2018 |
Yes, you can. Depending on the immigration officer at the POE, there is most likely a restriction not to be able to work until resumption be included in the *condition to work while schooling* sogima: |

You can apply for a visit visa for them, but remember you have to convince the visa officer of their return. So i think going the study permit way is the best since you have already been granted your visa and you are still 'outside' Canada. It would have been a different ball game if you already inside. Everything you need to make informed decision is available on cic website(the scenario i copied was from cic page). https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/temporary-residents/study-permits/guidelines-on-minor-children.html https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/minor-children.html emeify: |

More often than not. For most first time applicants, they mostly submit SOP which will include the reason for going to Canada for study, the choice of course, what they stand to gain at the end of the programme and how they plan to re-integrate when they get back to Nigeria after their program to promote Nigeria generally. For individuals reapplying, they tend to submit both. SOP covers all that i explained above while their LOE might want to focus more on addressing the reason for disapproval of previous application. Btw, i stand to be corrected. Maxihyfr: 1 Like |

Accompanying kids are to apply for study permit as well if they intend to study. Admission to designated institution is not compulsory. If you plan enrolling them in a government school(elementary/high school), i can assure you that you can not secure an admission for the kids unless they get into Canada. Even most private schools wont grant admission to kids without showing study permit/visa approval. ""Scenarios Applying from overseas The study permit exemption for minor children pursuant to subsection 30(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) applies when a minor child is already in Canada. Visa offices processing temporary residence applications made outside Canada by minor children who want to study in Canada should consider them as students and not as visitors, even when they are accompanying a parent who is authorized to either work or study in Canada. In other words, a study permit is required, unless they are exempt from requiring one pursuant to section R188."" emeify: |

You are right, i also have someone who got approved without including police clearance certificate in her application. However, everybody is trying their best to tighten all loose ends as no size fits all, so i understand Uzee's concern. I'll say to Uzee, get your police certificate, register your presence at vfs tomorrow although not with the hope of submission but to get an appointment for submission. Following the xzile experience, there is every tendency that you might not even be able to submit tomorrow if you get there as early as possible tomorrow. Remember that every document you submit automatically form part of your data base in canada when you eventually get in. so, If you want to make do without the police certificate at visa application time, i will advice you make sure to have one ready whenever you plan to depart Nigeria. The reason is that if you plan to get a part time job or full time job during summer especially in a government set up, they sometimes review the police certificate in your database as part of their security check, where if you do not have, will then need someone to do it from Nigeria for you. This, a friend of mine experienced. The individual was required to present the original copy of her police clearance certificate from Nigeria to complete her security check for the job. Hi DRiches, In my opinion, the reason why dependants are included in sponsor's letter is to show the level of his financial commitment to others thus, will help the VO figure out if he will be capable enough to include you with stress. Since your main sponsor can alter hers, then i think you should be Ok with her own since the other sponsor is not available to amend his letter and he is even not your main sponsor. I stand to be corrected. DRiches: |

I am so sorry to hear about your refusal. As rightly indicated by Newman1010, the 2.5M will not fly especially knowing that you do not have a scholarship. The 13M in fixed account depending on the terms might be regarded as illiquid to the VO, since it is not a readily available cash. Now if the 13M can be easily converted to cash, it might still be difficult for the VO to accept the sufficiency of the cash because after the payment of your tuition is made (8M equivalent), you'll need an upkeep (of approx 3M) which takes 11M off your sponsor's account. So the question will be how will your sponsor be able to continue with his own life when the VO knows very well as Nigerians we have a lot of dependents. A twist to this that can make the 13M closing balance fly with the VO officer is if the account turnover is very high. A huge turnover shows the viability of your sponsors income how how easily he replenished his account even though he might not have a huge closing balance. With God's favor, i have seen approvals with huge turnover and closing balance less than 10M. I wish you God's favor as well. lummy11: |
