Well, I might have also said Frank is not right with his statement based on cic information but he might be right. I think it is OK to wait till Mrs Daniels informs us of the outcome when she picks up her passport. If we have multiple cases as regards this that we know of, we might be able to make an informed conclusion about it. A guy here some weeks ago, ayoadefantastic, said in June when he applied he was waived for medical examination because he was resident of the US till April but then, reading through his approval post, he mentioned he was called for medicals July 24 which he did on the first of August (meaning it wasn't waived after all) I think VO still holds the ultimate decision on this, at least, we have had a guy without a travel history whose TRV was approved without being invited for medical examination Nogen: 1 Like |

I know few people that got their TRV approval after they had deferred their admission. One of my friends did and in his situation had to defer for a year because there is not a winter start date for his programme. When you have such approval, the decision of what to do is yours. One hurdle you'll have to cross will be at the port of entry with the immigration officer. You might have to explain why you are coming in so early or late depending on the admission letter you choose to show at the POE. hotcakept2: |

I'll look out for the trend of her application. I think from her information, she applied in Nigeria even though she holds UK resident permit. I would actually like to see if her application will be treated using the UK timeline (1 week) or Nigeria's processing time. jnyuwa02: |

I quite understand you and yes CIC reserves the right to do and undo. In my experience thus far, I have not seen any resident in the UK for more than 6 months apply for study permit and asked to go for medicals. I went through same as well and did not have to do any medical examination. Now look at it from this point; why add the yes and no options if ALL applying for more 6 months TRV require medicals; remember that Nigerians applying for less than 6 months do not require medicals as well (maybe the rules have change) and this cut across board for ALL countries. jnyuwa02: |

I would like to weigh in here; your premises are justified but so far she is a resident in UK and coming in for study (yes, for more than 6 months), she does not need a medical examination. I have seen many friends in this situation as well; even one of them who ticked, yes (that she requires medical examination), in her medical request form was not called for an examination and her application was approved. I do not think been in Nigeria at the moment will change the rule for her because as far as the visa office where she applied is concerned, she is 'still' in the UK. The rules changes for express entry applicants where irrespective of where you reside, medical examination is a must even if the applicant is a temporary resident in Canada. jnyuwa02: 1 Like |

With the little I have observed on this forum, I think the problem here is not about funds as you have mentioned nor is it about you paying your tuition fee. I think the question we need to be clear on first is if indeed you just plan to come for CPA and leave afterwards or just an entry route into the country... Since you are only coming for a certificate course/programme which Nigeria has its equivalent that is well recognized and not a university/college degree, the question becomes the reason why you want to be Canadian certified when you don't plan to practice in Canada. As a matter of fact, you are in your final stage for ICAN, may I ask if the programme you will be doing for CPA is off higher level than what is obtainable with ICAN. (I am not so vast in your area of qualification, so you can please shed more light on that) If you can be articulate about why you would embark on such and come back to Nigeria to convert the degree, maybe that might help more. With what I know about CPA, CPA profession assesses international credentials and provides streamlined programs to help internationally trained accountants become Canadian CPAs. So why would you become Canadian certified when you are the final stage of your ICAN program which is recognized in your home country? You wouldn't have to do biometric anymore but I am not sure for the medical examination and if possible, please print a new SOA (I learnt GCMS note takes about 30days, so if you are applying sometimes 3rd week of July, I will say a statement that ended in March is not ideal, that's almost 4 months after fact). I hope this helps. joe10: 5 Likes |

Hi Rasheedolalekan, To add to Frank's post, can you give a brief overview of documents submitted to both university for admission and CIC for visa application? From your insinuation, I think you are suggesting maybe your university and CIC were in communication during your visa decision period. I have read about university writing support letter to help student's visa application to CIC but I am not sure about CIC initiating conversation with the university to confirm student docs before a visa is granted (Frank might have the best idea of this response). Some questions.... Are you going for graduate or undergraduate studies? Did you submit your WAEC result as part of your documents for visa application? Could the letter from CIC connote that you should clarify your age? What other discrepancies do you know exist with the documents submitted? Few people I have read about on this forum denied for misinterpretation (especially as regards to SOA) were at one point or the other communication with to confirm the authenticity of the account; so I want to align with Frank's thoughts. Check out all these and you might have a closure as regards what is happening. Warm regards. rasheedolalekan: |

Just like Prudento's question, have you secured a supervisor? For a master's research or PhD program, the key to having an admission guaranteed in most institutions is having a supervisor. At the University of Manitoba and Saskatchewan, I want to believe that master's in biochemistry in both schools is research-based, in which you spend the first year on coursework (about 4 courses) and the second year on your research work. Meaning you need a research supervisor before you can be considered for admission. Even if you write the best statement of interest in the application submitted, your file will not be processed until you have a supervisor's support. If you look through University of Manitoba website, you are been advised strongly to secure a supervisor before submitting your application so as not to waste your application fee. Like Drhammed and Linzo have highlighted, write a good research proposal and statement of interest channelled to your supervisor of interest research area, and he might be willing to have you join his research group. Once you have such approval, you can be sure of a guaranteed admission. All the best. harveygordon: 2 Likes |

My suggestion might be useful or not. CIC has a web form that enquiries can be made through. The promise response within 10 days. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp?_ga=2.146488819.611153655.1529209880-204023929.1523765247 Via the form, you can choose the office your application is been processed. It is only speculations that all paper application is treated in Nairobi, yes, statistics can show higher percentage been processed there but you can not be sure where yours is processed. Since you submitted in Lagos, there is an option to choose Lagos office and I am sure they should be able to do their due diligence in tracking your application irrespective of the country where it is been forwarded to for processing. If you choose Nairobi and your application is been processed in Accra, I doubt you'll get a response. That said, I think the probability of getting a response from enquiry submitted via the web form might be higher than if coming from an individual's mail. I wish you all the best joe10: 1 Like 1 Share |

I understand this rule but yes, it is possible to change status in Canada. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=483&top=15 reading through this link, such an individual might fall under "other applicants category" kylexy61: 1 Like |

From the little info i have. Yes, you can and such applications i heard are being treated in their Los Angeles office and the refusal rate for such is high because when in such situation, it is always difficult to prove home ties and how of a genuine student you are. You flew into the country to visit in the first place, how easy will it be to convince the VO of your new intention of been a student who will go back to his/her country afterwards. Few immigration consultants i know usually advice against it except you can really prove home ties to your country. Goldenegg: |

Congratulations, God deserves all the praise. This is what i keep saying, no blue prints to this visa application. With your profile, i'm sure it would have been easy for anyone to 'write off' your case. Favor of God above all and your case is an evidence of this. Prudento: |

I understand you both but I have seen a brother -in-law (husband to another sister) stand in as sponsor with the applicants brother and it worked. In the person's case, the brother in law had the bulk of the money in investment. If such a person has been partly involved in his life before and can be proved....he can try it. Some people have gotten approved with cases not that convincing. Truth of the matter still remains that there is no blue print for this process. God's favour above all. Frankrobbn1: 4 Likes |

The update is normal. It only means that they are at the stage of reviewing your file for medical result, by the time they check and see the form uploaded that you require medical examination, then, they will send the form for medical request to you. I believe that might happen tomorrow morning or sometimes next week. I wish you all the best . Mrsecman: |

If you are resident in UK, you do not need to do medicals except you have not live there for more than 6 months. Look through the exception list for medicals online, residents of some countries are exempted. MrsDaniels: |

I doubt if the person who asked the question will get to see your comment. No one is saying that it is not possible to change to another course entirely, but have you checked the note he uploaded? The VO clearly stated that as a reason hence the advice as given by JoseJon which i supported. It is all advice here, there aint any blue print. Everyman to his own. bbclue: 1 Like |

As highlighted in your GCMS note and rightly pointed out by JoseJonn, get you a course related to your previous diploma degree and work experience. Physics just does not seem in line with your history gallardo: |

I could be wrong but i think being unemployed and volunteering at the moment might be a flag because the VO can see it as something not too tangible as a reason to come back to Nigeria. I think this has been said on this forum in previous threads; Aged parents, spouses, children can be regarded and easily recognised as family ties but once you are over 18 years of age, using siblings as family ties does not ' have that much weight'. If you have younger ones, far below 18 years of age, you can talk abit about your responsibilities on them, may be that might fly too. But if all your siblings are all of independent age, siblings love has little effect (either with NPC birth certificate/ sworn affidavit of age/ church issued certificate) If we want to be sincere, irrespective of the love amongst siblings, everyone is responsible for themselves. As advised, get your GCMS note and i hope being unemployed and volunteering at the moment wont be part of the VO's discussion. I wish you all the best. Omoarukheo: 2 Likes 1 Share |

Hi Linsigne, I will not be giving a direct yes or a no to you question, instead, i will write out a scenario, you can then be the judge. You can work 20 hours per week while school is in session; lets say 34 weeks, assuming you get a job that pays $12/hr (minimum wage varies per province and your take home depends on the job you get; this is just an assumption) = $8160 You can work full time (40 hours per week) during summer break; if you are not registered in school; lets say 18 weeks = $8640 Total cash = $16800 Sounds impressive right. But here are things to consider: -You can look forward to having that much if you get a job almost at the same time as your arrival which in most cases it is not always the situation (what happens if you ended up getting a job some months after you got in) -You should have it at the back of your mind that not all jobs guarantee 20 hours per week; so what happens if you can't get one and it is difficult to joggle between two jobs? -Don't forget you will pay tax out from your bi weekly (every two weeks) pay; although it is still regulated for low income earners - If you are considering spending part of your earning for your rent and upkeep as well, then consider this analogy. If you are living in a $400 per month flat share (that's $4800/year) and upkeep of about $4000/year (feeding, travels, clothing, e.t.c); that takes about $9000 off the total earning. So consider the if's and if not's; ask more question from people living in the province or locality of where you are going, read more online about it and i think it will help make an informed decision. All the best Linsigne: After paying for your first year. Who can advice about working and studying to save money to pay for your tution fee maybe its worth 7500čad or 6500ćad. How possible is it Bukella: 2 Likes |

Hi Ilerioluwa, You seem to have been asking this same question for over a month. From your message, it is obvious you have gotten the invite for medical examination, so, what is written in the review of medical results on your online page? By now, i believe you must have linked your paper application to view online, this makes you more aware of your application status. Is the review of medical results showing; we are reviewing your medical; we have requested a medical examination or medical passed? Is it that they have requested for your passport in which you have submitted and havent gotten a message to pick it up at vfs (since you mentioned people waiting for stamped passport)? If you do not have these information, i think it will be difficult for anyone to help suggest what could be happening. I remember someone asked you to link your paper application to view online. If you have not done that, i'll ask that you do that. So try and sort things out from your end, just to be sure you are not the one missing out necessary steps. I wish you the best. Ilerioluwa123: |
