Whether it’s intimate or Owanbe, marriage is one thing that is valued in human existence. So much considerations, planning and hard work are put in place to make sure it’s a success. A moment that would love to be relived.

The Easterners in Nigeria are not left out when it comes to Marriage Planning. Marriage rites to an average Igbo indigene is priceless and must be carried out. The Igbo’s have many traditions that at the point of marriage rites and planning, it becomes a total family affair. Despite the seeming change in method of choosing a spouse, the Igbo culture has been sustained; where traditional marriage (Igba nKwu) is concerned, the process involves many different stages.

First, a man at about marriageable age finds a bride of his choice, that shares the same feelings for him; then he informs elder members of his extended family. Then ofcus he alone would visit the bride’s family and introduce himself; whereby the family of the bride tells him to bring his family for a formal introduction.

The groom’s family upon hearing this, sets out with their son and items like kola nut and some kegs of fresh Palm wine and reputable elders of the family where in place of the groom’s father, the uncle can represent. After formal introductions and rendering request for e bride’s hand in marriage; the bride’s family accepts their request and the sends them out to return on a later date.

During the course of this wait, both families sets out to make enquiry from people of the same locality about each other of which will solely determine if the marriage will hold or not. This is considered one of the important parts of the marriage rite. If the inquiries come out positive, both families take a next step into the marriage planning.

The bride’s family once again invites the groom family of which a list will be given by the bride’s family. The list are items needed for the marriage (Igban Kwu). These items include: kolanuts, kegs of Palm Wine, bunch of clothing materials, cows and goats,
Dowry etc. It just goes on.

These items are to be presented on the day of the marriage of which the bride officially goes home with her groom. At this, the planning of marriage and marriage rite is officially called to an end.

Politics7 Days Left! A Man Is Trekking From Lagos To Onitsha by HiztoryBox(op): 10:46am On Sep 27, 2019
World Wrapper,Amb Adjarho David Obaro – The World Wrapper Man is still on his trekking voyage to the commercial city of onitsha on his campaign to the race against piracy in the creativity industry.

Here is the details of his present location on this journey. Amb Adjarho David Obaro ,who just recovered from illness continued his marathon race yesterday by 5.30am, when he left Ajibade community;Where he spent the night. His race was a beautiful one with so much solidarity from the Police at check points and passersby who stopped him to take photo with him.

On an occasion, a police man gave him N500 to buy water. Good news all along as this kept him motivated until at about 6.48 pm when he called me and placed the phone on speaker for me to follow up on an attack on him by some young men in the community of Omotosho.

According to World wrapper man Media team has this say. “The police spokesman who spoke with me through speaker phone, they want know who gave him the right to run into their community with a wrapper, why I tried to explain to him or rather them of the marathon race, I also told them that if they felt not secured with his presence, they should take him to their kabiyesi (King) or the nearest Police station.”

“Their spokesman who claimed to be a Prince of the community told me that the Kabiyesi will not welcome him. They agreed to take him to the Police station. On their way, they informed him that the police DO, who they described as ‘DPO’ was somewhere relaxing and they took him to the relaxation place.”

“The ‘DO’ worked him out and told him to take a vehicle to the next major town ORE, all Amb attempt to explain to the DO did not work as he insisted. Our worry was, that it was late, about 7.pm and it was dark and Amb Adjarho could site the young men who were accompanying him to the station before they saw the DO. I advised him not to move into the darkness as that may be an opportunity for them to attack him and that was when I called for help here on Facebook.”

“At about 10.22 pm when the same DO of Omotosho who earlier rejected him, picked him up for safety, the DO assured me of his safety when I spoke to him on the phone and tendered an apology for his initially reaction. We thank you all wonderful people who reached out for the World Wrapper man. God bless you for your support, the race against piracy is not an easy one but it continues this morning as he heads towards ORE.”

“We are appealing to Nigeria Copyright Commission, Association of Nigerian Authors, the Movie industry, the Nollywood industry, the music industry, Booksellers Association, reporters in the remaining states, sports commissioners, in fact all industries of creativities in Nigeria to show solidarity to the World Wrapper man, as he runs to complete his 650km in 17days against piracy in Nigeria.”

Today is his 10th day on the road running from Lagos to Onitsha.

If you have seen running, even if you were inside a vehicle pls tell us what you observed, we will appreciate.

Remember he is TREKKING to onitsha within 17days

The World Wrapper man – Amb Adjhrho David Obaro, a Marathoner, known for having the world's longest wrapper round him while he race, set forth from Lagos to Onitsha on September 18. The race is partnership with the Nigeria Copyright Commission NCC as they celebrate their 30 years of protecting creativity in Nigeria, with the theme: CHANGING THE NARRATIVE. In he next 17 days he will be on the road running. Amb Adjhrho David Obaro left Lagos tying a 36 yard wrapper folded into 18 yards for easy usage.

His original weight as at departure time was 94 kilogram without his luggage and with his luggage he was weighing 107, he left Lagos with 52 items mostly his toiletries, balms, drugs and searchlights. He took off from NCC office in Costain at about midday and had a brief stopover at the National Stadium where he addressed the crowd about the danger of piracy and the need for Nigerians to stop piracy, after then the race continued but for the heavy rain, he stopped over again at Maryland bus stop, when the rain subsided he continued as he headed through Ojota towards the Lagos Ibadan road, he stopped over to rest for the night at about 9:40pm at OPIC Ogun state, because the rain added more kilogram to his weight.

He will be setting out by 6 am to head towards Sagamu on September 19. As he race we can only pray that God be with him and plead with Nigerians if u see him show some love and support to him.

MOHAMMED SHUWA [known in Borno as Mamman Shuwa] was a Nigerian Army Major General and the first General Officer Commanding of the Nigerian Army’s 1st Division. He also served as Commander 5th Battalion, Kano.

MOHAMMED was Born on 1st September 1939. Educated at Barewa College and the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. Shuwa commanded the Nigerian Army’s 1st Division during the Nigerian Civil War. He attended Kala Elementary School (1946-1947), Bama Central Elementary School (1948-1950), Bornu Middle School (1950-1952), and Barewa College, Zaria for his secondary education (1952-1957). He was classmates with Gen. Murtala Muhammed at Barewa and at subsequent military institutions. He also a classmate with Illiya Bisalla, and Ibrahim Haruna, Shuwa joined the Nigerian Army on September 19, 1958 and pursued his preliminary cadet training at the Regular Officers Special Training School in Teshie, Ghana.

In July 1961 after completing officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He received his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant

What He did during 1966 mutiny

Then Lt. Col Shuwa was Commander of the 5th Battalion in Kano during the Nigerian Army Mutiny of July 1966 where many Igbo military officers were systematically murdered by their northern counterparts for what the northern officers perceived as retribution for the January 15, 1966 coup (which was led by mostly Igbo officers). Shuwa’s deputy at the 5th Battalion, then Major James Oluleye took the initiative by asking his company commanders to lock up the battalion armory and hand over the armory keys in Olulye’s armory safe. As a result of Shuwa and Oluleye’s leadership, the lives of many Igbo officers during the July mutiny were saved.

Gen. Shuwa was murdered in his Maiduguri home on November 2, 2012 by suspected Boko Haram militants

candidtalk:
You're a fool and a shameless bigot. Below is the entry for Samuel Ajayi Crowther. Why is it claimed he was a Nigerian who was born and died in Nigeria? According to your logic they should write he was born in some African bush of no name. Not so? Just stop talking. See you Igbos have boundary issues and you always offend others because of this. You are arguing foolishly that those born within Nigeria are not Nigerian because the name did not exist when they were born. Professor, then tell us their nation of origin then for record-keeping purpose then since you know more than the rest of the world. Mumu.
