This is all nonsense. You cannot give a person an identity that did not exist while they were alive. The woman was Yoruba, she was never Nigerian. When Olaudah Equiano, who was born in Isieke in present Anambra, died 1n 1797, not even Lugard who created Nigeria had been born yet. How can anyone then call Equiano a Nigerian when Nigeria did not exist more 100 years after he died? That's a fallacy

Just shut up. If she were Igbo you would hail her a Biafran even as Biafra does not exist today.

Are you saying that the places like Lagos and even your villages wasn't NIGERIA before 1914?

Samuel Ajayi Crowther was a Yoruba man, he was never a Nigerian. Anyone who died before Nigeria was created in 1914 is not a Nigerian. Nationality cannot be given in reverse

You're a fool and a shameless bigot. Below is the entry for Samuel Ajayi Crowther. Why is it claimed he was a Nigerian who was born and died in Nigeria? According to your logic they should write he was born in some African bush of no name. Not so? Just stop talking. See you Igbos have boundary issues and you always offend others because of this. You are arguing foolishly that those born within Nigeria are not Nigerian because the name did not exist when they were born. Professor, tell us their nation of origin then for record-keeping purpose since you know more than the rest of the educated world that acclaimed them as Nigerians. Mumu.

Stop talking like a fool. There was no Nigeria in 1891 when Ajayi Crowther died. So how can you then say that he is a Nigerian? Nigeria did not exist until 1914. If you want Ajayi Crowther to be a Nigerian, invent a time machine and go back to 1891 before he died and bring him back to any time after 1914. Dont give a man citizenship of a country that did not exist as at the time of his death

explain this

Theres nothing to explain, who ever wrote that made a foolish mistake. Ajayi Crowther is not a Nigerian because there was nothing called Nigeria in 1891 when he died.

In fact, the word "Nigeria" was not created by Lugards wife until 1897

Stop being ignorant and stubborn. A land will get a name and affiliation in the end and those who originate from there are then addressed as indigenes of that nation. This is why native indians are called the original Americans even as the name did not exist when they did.

Some people are funny. Who said she was a Nigerian? When she died in 1880, it would be another 34 years before Nigeria was created. The word "Nigeria" was not even created until 1897, a good 17 years after she died.

The woman was not a Nigerian

What a ridiculous and senseless thing to say. That's like saying oduduwa was not a Nigerian.

She was never a slave girl oo! according to history, she was a royal princess and a victim of a communal clash in Nigeria. She was meant to be use for sacrifice by her captors until one of Queen Victoria's naval officer took her and brought her to London.Queen Victoria took liking to her because she is a royal blood from the African continent..anyway the rest story you can check on google.

An Egbado princess who was the grandmother of late Mrs Victoria Randle, whose descendants still live in Lagos... The J. K. Randle family.

The days of slavery remains a very sad period in our history. Unfortunately, African youths now willingly give themselves up for slavery due to their quest to go abroad. sad
