There is really nothing to worry about here. When you apply for a passport Renewal the old one would be cancelled without prejudice and the new one would come with a new passport number, however the old passport number wuld be somewhere on the new one. Just fill up a new DS 160, then update the DS160 on your USTRAVELDOC profile. Do not worry about the passport number cos it cant be edited on the USTRAVELDOC. Goto the embassy with both the old and new passport and your chances are high. I had a very Similar case of changing my pasport after paying for the VISA FEE and i did all ijst told you. I was given 2 papers though, one was for ADMIN PROCESS and the otheer one was to COLLECT my passport, i waited for about 16 to 18 days and got an email to pick up my passsport and yes i got the VISA. Hi my situation is quite complex. I was in the us i’ 2016 and stayed for 2 weeks. I went to visit my sister who just had a baby then. Fast forward to October 2018, i attempted to apply for renewal through dropbox as my visa was going to expire my November 2018. I submitted my documentation for dropbox renewal at the point of submission my us passport still had about 6 months validity on it before it expired however after I sent my documents through drop box I got an email that my passport was being sent back and i need to come in for an interview instead. So i went to pick the passport up from DHL in isolo. Upon collection, i tried to go online to reschedule and interview and there was no interview dates available then. I kept on checking over the next couple of days and there were still no dates showing up.
I sent an email to the embassy telling them on the situation and the response i got back was to keep checking . Finally after some days of checking, i finally got some date show up on my ustraveldocs dashboard and the earliest of this dates was June 2019.
I went ahead and chose this dates even though this was 7 months from the attempted dropbox renewal i did in October 2018. Like i mentioned earlier my passport when i was about to renew through dropbox in October 2018 was still valid but had about 6 months left to expire- so this clearly means that the passport information i filled in my new ds 160 and while booking my interview in ustraveldocs was my passport with 6months validity- however since i wasnt granted renewal through dropbox and had to reschedule an interview to go in for an inperson interview and i didnt get an early date and the earliest date available was June and by then the same passport which would have been good for the drop box renewal would be expired in June.
My plan initially when applying for fropbox with a pasport that was almost about to expire ( which is allowed as long as it has at least 6months to expiration on it). was if i get approved with dropbox , i only have to renew my old passport and get a new passport regardless then just carry 2 passports when i travel which is the Expired passport with the visa (if the visa would have been renewed with dropbox) and then carry my old and my new passport with me together so basically I’ll be traveling with 2 passports that is the old one that has the visa in it and then my new passports and which is something thats allowed.
So in confusion , i have gone to renew my passport as it has now expired while awaiting for the interview date and i have sent multiple emails to the embassy to rectify but they are not forthcoming. They said I can't update to a new passport because of the Gtbank receipt I used in making payment which carries my old passport number.
So i guess my question is - what do i do? Do i go in for the interview like that or do i have to make another gtbank payment or what?

I had a similar issue and it was sorted out in 15 days after which they sent me an email to pick up my passport. Not to worry just keep looking at the website and it would change from ADMIN PROCESS to ISSUED. just calm down

He should go fr his VISA interview and tell them he has a pending application, however he wants to meet his kids for the first time and would be back in less than 3 weeks or so. The most important things is that he has to Demonstrate to the VO that he does not intend relocating with a Vist Visa. In my Humble opinion people are denied VISA sometimes cos they applied for the wrong category of Visa or costhey fail to demonstrate to the VO that they dont have reason to stay back or abuse the VISA.

Please Officers, I wanted to ask if my husband can still go for visa, even though I have petitioned for him, which I know will still take about 6 months or so. The reason why I asked is because I just put to bed (Twins) and I have no one to help wanted to see if he can come to help me for about 4 to 6 weeks. I have not heard this before and i do not think its too hard to call the customer service and verify on phone. Please when you do don't forget to post it here cos this is a peculiar case and not sure has been treated here. There's nothing to worry about there, i had a similar case and got my passport 2 weeks after of admin processing. Just be calm, im sure it wont take 60 days like the website says.. Most likely yours would be issued as long as the documents you sent are GENUINE

I went for my interview on the 5th of March the vo ask for bill of landing which I didn’t go with and she gave me one white form wrote my name and the date on it and circle bill of landing. She said I should dhl the bill of landing.
I took it to dhl on the 7th of March. Since then the tracking has been saying my passport is with the US embassy until yesterday. From yesterday now tracking was saying there is no status update available. When I use this

Oga, First off, You sound like a broken records forgive my irritation here but your narrative as to why you were not given a VISA is totally wrong I got mine on a VIRGIN passport and NOT MARRIED. the reason as to why the VO deny Visas is based on their own knowledge, From all you have been writing on this THREAD your desperation to abscond is very glaring, and i am sure the VO saw that too. I guess you should work on your ties, learn from here and also from QUORA.COM and you could stand a chance of getting it next time. people come up with different lies and its the Duty of a VO to detect it and of course sometimes Innocent travellers become victims of the high handedness caused by others. This is one of the most informative Threads out there. I say this cos i learnt from it on how to go about my own application and eventually i was successful. I have been to USA and probably would have made the mistake of staying for 45 days since i could work from anywhere but for the Knowledge i got from here i spent less than 3 weeks even if i was stamped 6 month at the POE...

Instead i came back and that was when i discovered this forum and since then i read it everyday like its naija new, Anyway i applied the next year, got the visa cos i learnt alot from the guys here. LAdy G, Chloe, Omobendel, SEYEWEST and a whole lot of Gurus that i no longer see their posts . Now i got the visa stresslessly, after READING this forum and learning. You said that you dont know why the man would be denied but you fail to understand that its their country and they have the right to Deny him. You are are correct no doubt but there are also some cost cutting Modes you might not know on this, Hotels close to Central Area are more that his said Budget. Dont forget that the distance from LUGBE to US Embassy isnt more than 30 mins no matter how bad the traffic is, Unless the President is passing. I stayed in LUGBE when i went to the Embassy cos I have a friend who stays around LUGBE and yes i stayed small Hotel In His Estate, NEAT of course and had a 7:30 appointment and got to the Embassy before 7am, with less than 1500,after the Interview i caught my flight out of town same day, infact i got a cab to the airport from there for abut 800 or so. Yes i am sure of what i am advising him and all this happened in January this year and good thing is i got the VISA

Lugbe axis to Central Area for interview. How about if the interview is in the morning, have you considered possible holdup around Lugbe to City Gate? let him use booking.com to check for hotels around that vicinity and choose according to prices. Excepts he drives.

look for anywhere in Airport Road around LUGBE axis, im sure you would get one,

Sorry but you would not see any hotel less than 10k around the Embassy, but you could get some like 5 k somewehre not too far, say about 30mins to the Embassy, and you pay drop like 1500,

Since they don't ask of invitation at point of the interview, do I need to ask him to email the soft copy of the invitation to USA embassy here in Nigeria where my interview will take place?

My People, I have been a silent reader here for a long time and i really appreciate what the GURUS here have done. LadyG, Seyewest, Omobendel and all, Una don try well well.
So i have some worries here. I attended my Interview weeks back in Abuja and i was given 2 papers, one for pick up and the other for administrative processing. Now the VO stated there that i would not need any further document and that they would get back to me through my email when my VISA is ready. My point is that its been 3 weeks and i have not seen any email from them and its still On Admin process. I am a little worried as i would love to get my Ticket sharply since i am seeing some very great deals of less then 300k around my travel time. Please Gurus Advice...
