Funny enough, Brazil spent $10b and got 10,000MW in return. So far, since 1999 it is estimated that we have about $25b and we lost power in return. Nothing to get excited about brothers and sisters except you are short sighted. 1 Like |

Business / Re: Reasons Why 80% Of YouWin Winners May Fail! by Hodaya(m): 7:49pm On Mar 21, 2012 |
I think the poster is a bit negative and bitter at been turned down. I run a small business myself with a board of directors of 5 and hold 65% of total shares and i know for sure that finance isn't necessarily equivalent to success. Without doubt, the YOUWIN project won't succeed because the vision behind it is limited. In developed countries there are Incubators that help nuture your idea prior to seeking further investment if viable. YOUWIN should rather focus on platforms to support and encourage the establishment of numerous Incubators across the entire country and not directly investing in ideas. By doing this, we will have numerous Incubators which breeds competition and most of all more ideas will have finance, experience, knowledge and passion invested in them. If i may ask the board members at YOUWIN are paid salaries (national cake), people would gladly do this freely which will free up more funds to establish a system that can last centuries. Just my thinking, feel free to criticize. |

Business / Re: How Google Is Killing Nigerian Online Businesses by Hodaya(m): 4:01am On Dec 15, 2011 |
Well, enough said on this, Google is here to provide a service and get paid for it. This is at the expense of our own development and loss reduced opportunity for the IT geeks. For those asking the indigenous IT developers to get creative, if you have ever established a business you should how important advertising is and it doesn't come cheap. No way will any local business will be able to compete with Google's advertisement budget, it is just impossible. It is important to know that ever great idea needs massive publicity as well before it can be successful. It's obvious we lack common interest here, a drive around the city is another evidence of our lack of unity and common goals. My fear is, things will undoubtedly get worse for us as a nation at this rate no personal interest. |

occam: Forums are content driven, no doubt about that. You need to look at accessibility because i spend more hours on a Google web product than i do on Nairaland, the implication of this is that whenever content is shared on the assumed/foreseen Google Forum most of us will are only a click away.We all(at least most) have either Yahoo or Gmail and they will use this to their advantage and many more. Haven't you noticed the ads bar on the recently upgraded gmail, you really don't need to look further. And for those saying our local businesses should compete, i've got a question. It is just like saying Enyimba should compete with Manchester City for the best players and in a competition. |

occam: With 'Google trader', Nairalist is on the back foot. Wait till we get 'Google forum' then Nairaland might struggle. Countries over the world do well to support and protect their local businesses, not import competitors for a technology that can be achieved locally. It might not be perfect at the beginning but with constant growth things will get better. |

Fhemmmy: Hmmm, now that nairalist.com has been affected, it is only a matter of time before nairaland.com is. Don't be surprised when you see Google launches a forum that will rival & might crush nairaland. We must not wait for this to happen before we wake up. |

Business / Re: How Google Is Killing Nigerian Online Businesses by Hodaya(m): 3:13pm On Dec 09, 2011 |
Bawss1: Well, they needed a way reduce their market share and that was achieved. The censorship issue was just the means to achieve that end. The bottom line is that our citizens and businesses loose more and make starting a business a more difficult in region with little or no incubators, agent investors and bank support. |
Business / Re: How Google Is Killing Nigerian Online Businesses by Hodaya(m): 2:24pm On Dec 09, 2011 |
In China, Google had issues simply because the Chinese government realized the dominance of google will make it impossible for her citizens(local businesses) to compete. The bulk of their(Google) profit heads back to the US meaning we are literally contributing to the growth of their economy and killing ours. How do you guys expect DealDey, Tradestable or Nairalist to compete with Google trader. It is just impossible and this is the point where the government of Nigeria should interfere. We need our local businesses to grow first at home and then grow fast enough to export their products and services to other countries. So for you guys saying Google isn't killing our web industry, y'all are a joke and need to wake up fast. The most popular website in China is Baidu.com(a serch engine), google is fifth and Facebook isn't even in top 100. It is high time we woke and face reality, we stand lots more to loose if the Nigerian government doesn't interfere to rescue our local ecommerce businesses. Why must a local Nigerian business rely on Google(an American company) to market/advertise in Nigeria to Nigerians? Something isn't right, a Nigerian business should dominate that market. Do you guys ever think a Nigerian company can dominate any industry in the US even if it has the capacity? Shameful! |

This is a brave move from the Governor and I'm in total support of it 100%. People give blinded and ask less questions about the effect on the society. The continuous giving to these beggars increases their numbers and make them less productive to the society. These beggars see this as a job, they go back to their houses only to make more babies to increase their daily income. The idea of welfare for them is really great and if they don't accept, they should leave for other states. At least Ogun state is not far off. |
Politics / Re: Pastor Tunde Bakare - Your Silence Is Deafening! by Hodaya(m): 11:06am On Apr 22, 2011 |
You all need to come to the reality that failing en-route success is almost unavoidable. Pastor Bakare may have failed in his quest for VP of Nigeria the first time but his VP quest or drive for a better Nigeria isn't a failure. Personally i don't see things changing for the next four years, hopefully after the next three years we all we still be on Nairaland to evaluate the GEJ led administration because i still remember the 7-points agenda clearly. "Abacha & Mariam entered Aso Rock - Only Mariam left alive Obasanjo & Stella did same - Only Obasanjo left alive Yar'dua & Turai as well - Only Turai survived Goodluck will need more than goodluck to break this jinx " |
Politics / Re: Goodluck Asks Buhari To Call His Supporters To Order by Hodaya(m): 6:40am On Apr 19, 2011 |
Just hours after been announced the winner of the past election, GEJ just showed how incompetent he is for the job. I'm wondering if the riot in the north wasn't anticipated earlier and proper security measures put in place to prevent loss of lives and properties. Now he failed to plan ahead for this possible outcome & instead blaming buhari for his incompetence. Anyways I'm prepared for the next 4 year to be same as the past 12years. |

To the clueless fools blaming it on CPC. The north remains the strong hold of CPC, why will they want to disrupt or stop their followers from voting? I suspect opposition parties, |
