Hope Cheston was just 14 when she was raped by a security guard Brandon Lamar Zachary who was 22.

According to Washington Post, the rape had occurred in 2012, and Zachary had been arrested, convicted, and sentenced to jail for 20 years.

The security company that had hired Zachary had, however, never apologized to Cheston, or even contacted her.

In a lawsuit filed against the security company, Crime Prevention Agency, jurors have awarded Cheston an unbelievable sum of $1 billion.

Cheston, who is now 20, said the jurors had hugged her afterward, told her, “You’re worth something.”

“It was a shocking moment; it was a beautiful moment,” she said, “It showed human kindness in its purest form.”

Cheston’s attorney, Chris Stewart, said he doesn’t expect his client to receive the $1 billion in full. He said:

What that number stands for is the most important thing.

We don’t care what we end up finally recovering from this company. We know they don’t have $1 billion. But it’s what 12 people in the state of Georgia said a victim of rape is worth that echoes louder.

We already got our victory.

Billionaire kidnap suspect, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike also known as Evans, on Friday again asked a Lagos High Court sitting in Igbosere to quash all the charges filed against him by the Lagos State Government.

Evans said similar charges were pending before a Lagos High Court (Ikeja Division) and therefore should be tried by one judge.

The Lagos State Government had brought a fresh five-count charge bordering on conspiracy to kidnap, kidnapping and attempted murder against Evans and three others, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Evans is charged alongside Joseph Emeka, Ugochukwu Nwachukwu and Victor Aduba.

In the second charge, Evans is being tried alongside Joseph Emeka, Linus Okpara and Victor Aduba.

At the resumed hearing of the case on Friday, Evan’s counsel, Olukoya Ogungbeje, informed the court that he had filed a motion on notice to quash all the charges filed against the first defendant (Evans).

In the motion on notice, Mr Ogungbeje said all the charges were “grossly defective, repetitive and an abuse of court processes”.

According to him, the prosecution had earlier filed similar charges and amended charges bordering on kidnapping against Evans pending before the same High Court of Lagos State.

He relied on Section 153 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) of Lagos State, adding that nothing stopped the prosecution from bringing the charges under one judge.

He said counts three, four and five were repetitions of same offence.

“Apart from the counts being of same offence, same section of the law is being provided in these counts.

“I submit that the prosecution misfired by bringing different charges and instituting the same case in different courts.

“I urge Your Lordship to quash the charge because it is defective and an abuse of court process,” Ogungbeje argued.

In her response to the motion, the State Director for Public Prosecutions (DPP), Titilayo Shitta-Bey, said: “The general rule is that every offence must be in a separate count.”

Ms Shitta-Bey said the first defendant was charged with attempt to murder Chief James Uduji in count three, while in count four, he was charged with attempt to murder Donald Nwonye.

“It will be against the provisions of the law to lump the two offences in one count,” she said.

She explained that other charges filed against the first defendant before other judges involved different defendants, different offences and different victims.

She, therefore, urged the court to dismiss the application.

Meanwhile, the third defendant, Linus Okpara, in the second charge, has urged the court in a motion on notice to quash the two-count charge preferred against him.

He made the application through his counsel, Jude Igbanoi, adding that the proof of evidence did not disclose any prima facie case against him.

“I will align myself with the arguments made by the first defendant.

“I urge this honourable court to quash the charge, there is nothing in the proof of evidence linking the third defendant to the charge,” Mr Igbanoi said.

The prosecutor, in responding to the third defendant’s motion, told the court that the proof of evidence disclosed a prima facie case against him.

She said the proof of evidence disclosed where the third defendant admitted collecting the sum of N2 million for the first defendant in relation to one of the victims, Uche Okorafor.

“I, therefore, urge the court to discountenance the third defendant’s argument,” DPP said.

Justice Adedayo Akintoye, after listening to all the arguments, adjourned the case until June 26 for ruling.

NAN also reports that the alleged kidnap kingpin was arrested on June 10, 2017 and was in August 2017 arraigned before Justice Hakeem Oshodi at an Ikeja High Court for kidnapping.

He was also arraigned before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of Ikeja High Court, Lagos.

Social media platform, Facebook has opened its first African technology hub in Nigeria, The Guardian reports.

Located at Mongomery, Yaba, a suburb of Lagos, it is named NG_Hub. The hub, which is equipped with modern technologies, also boasts of several work spaces.

In the likes of the CCHUBs, NG_Hub, it was gathered that it was established to further deepen advance technology, including Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, among others in the country.

At the unveiling, Facebook also disclosed that it planned to empower about 50,000 young Nigerians with digital training, which had started.

Facebook, which claimed that there are 26 million daily active users of the plaftorm in Nigeria, explained that it was keen on enabling a robust technology ecosystem in the country.

According to the Vice President, Product Partnership, Facebook, Ime Archibong, the launch was about what the platform can do to enhance the great development in the ICT sphere of the country.

Archibong revealed that so much investment went into the project, which started seven months ago.

He said the NG_Hub would service the entire ICT ecosystem, including, SMEs.

From his perspective, Facebook’s Manager, Developers Programme, Emeka Afigbo, the hub would provide opportunities for businesses to be formed and developed.

Afigbo, who revealed that lots of SMEs rely on Facebook to drive their businesses, noted that most businesses thriving today were built through the social media platform.

According to him, as part of drive to develop the ecosystem, Facebook has started the process of training 50,000 young people in digital skills so as to be able to leverage technology to stimulate economic growth.

At a post-event interview with The Guardian, Facebook’s Director, Public Policy, Africa, Ebele Okobi, the choice of Nigeria to be first destination in Africa was because of the strategic importance of the country in Africa to the technology company.

Besides, Okobi said there has been a very strong technology ecosystem, which is fast emerging from Nigeria, “which must be nurtured and supported adequately.”

She revealed that Facebook will be working with some partners, including CCHUB, Digify, APCON, She Leads Africa, Tripple A, among others to drive the initiative and makes it more beneficial to the country and Africa as a whole.

From the Office of the Vice President, the Special Assistant on Innovation and Entrepreneurship to the VP, Ife Adebayo, the hub should further enhance ICT development in Nigeria.

Adebayo revealed that the VP, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, is committed to the advancement of technology in the country, “reason he personally toured about 10 tech hubs recently so as to have first hand information about them and to know areas of challenges.”

He urged the tech ecosystem to come together as a body in order to be able to influence government policies adequately.

For the Bosun Tijani, Co-Founder, CCHUB, by the launch, the next 10 years would be great for the country because of the enormous development that would come thereafter through the hub.

According to him, tech keeps evolving but requires an ecosystem that encourages, allows developments.

“Today is another level of development. Technology gives us the chance to build new solutions for the country. Technology in the last 20 years has enabled several industries, even governments,” he stressed.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has released the list of 58 illegal universities in Nigeria.

The commission said the universities are yet to be licensed by the federal government and have been shut down for violating the national minimum standard for education.

A Monday bulletin from the office of the Executive Secretary on NUC, dated May 14, listed all the illegal universities across the country.

Russia will deploy pioneering military technology to prevent terrorists using drones to drop bombs on World Cup stadiums. The equipment, pictured here for the first time, has been war-tested in Ukraine and Syria.



Drones are an effective way of landing explosives on targets, warned anti-terror chiefs.

Leaving nothing to chance, the FSB – Russia’s security service – has ordered dozens of no-flight zones around stadiums and training facilities at the World Cup, which kicks off next month.

Army chief Valery Gerasimov has issued orders to set up jamming stations outside the 12 stadiums that would make remotely operating a drone impossible.

These include Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod and Kainingrad, where England play group matches.

The FSB is also deploying equipment at key World Cup sites amid Vladimir Putin ’s determination that the football festival will not be ruined by a high profile terrorist attack.

All the anti-drone equipment is Russian-made specially designed for use by the army and secret services.



Some hi-tech equipment will prevent interference with law enforcement drones.

Military sources say the deployment will include R-330P Zhitel, Svet-KU, R-934BMV Sinitsa, and Silok complexes, reported RBK news outlet.

Nigeria's former president, Olusegun Obasanjo has replied President Muhammadu Buhari over allegation that $16 billion was wasted on power project during his administration.

President Buhari had made reference to the allegation while receiving a delegation of Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) at the presidential villa on Tuesday, may 22

“One of the former heads of state between that time was bragging that he spent more than 15 billion American dollars, not Naira, on power. Where is the power? Where is the power? And now we have to pay the debts,” the president had said.

In a statement issued on his behalf by Kehinde Akinyemi, his spokesman, Obasanjo dismisses Buhari's claim and offered his own side of the story.


“It has come to the attention of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo that a statement credited to President Muhammadu Buhari, apparently without correct information and based on ignorance, suggested that $16 billion was wasted on power projects by “a former president”.

“We believe that the president was re-echoing the unsubstantiated allegation against Chief Obasanjo by his own predecessor but one.

“While it is doubtful that a president with proper understanding of the issue would utter such, it should be pointed out that records from the National Assembly had exculpated president Obasanjo of any wrong-doing concerning the power sector and has proved the allegations as false.

“For the records, Chief Obasanjo has addressed the issues of the power sector and the allegations against him on many occasions and platforms, including in his widely publicised book, My Watch in which he exhaustively stated the facts and reproduced various reports by both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which conducted a clinical investigation into the allegations against Chief Obasanjo, and the ad-hoc committee on the review of the recommendations in the report of the committee on power on the investigation into how the huge sums of money was spent on power generation, transmission and distribution between June 1999 and May 2007 without commensurate result.

“We recommend that the president and his co-travellers should read Chapters 41, 42, 43 and 47 of My Watch for Chief Obasanjo’s insights and perspectives on the power sector and indeed what transpired when the allegation of $16 billion on power projects was previously made. If he cannot read the three-volume book, he should detail his aides to do so and summarise the chapters in a language that he will easily understand.

“In the same statement credited to the president, it was alleged that there was some bragging by Chief Obasanjo over $16 billion spent on power. To inform the uninformed, the so-called $16 billion power expenditure was an allegation against Chief Obasanjo’s administration and not his claim.

“The president also queried where the power generated is. The answer is simple: The power is in the seven National Integrated Power Projects and eighteen gas turbines that Chief Obasanjo’s successor who originally made the allegation of $16 billion did not clear from the ports for over a year and the civil works done on the sites.

“Chief Obasanjo challenges, and in fact encourages, anybody to set up another enquiry if in doubt and unsatisfied with the EFCC report and that of the Hon. Aminu Tambuwal-led ad-hoc committee.”

A female Nigerian referee, Ruth Okafor has been hailed both online and offline for saving a player’s life during a football game. The referee from Lagos, Ruth Okafor saved the life of a player, Jennifer Osawaru, in the Nigeria Women Premier League Week 6 encounter between Sure Babes FC of Ilorin and Edo Queens of Benin City, in a match played at the Kwara Sports Complex, Ilorin.







As a way to appreciate her effort, she was rewarded with a cash of N50,000 by the vice president of the Nigeria Football Federation, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, for her quick action and bravery.

Edo Queens player, Jennifer Osawaru, was hit by the ball and went unconscious and it was visibly down to Referee Ruth to act, she quickly kept Jennifer warm and kept her in the recovery position, while directing other frightened players away from the distressed scene.

The 28 year old referee from Lagos will also be recognised with a Special Award for Courage/Fair play by the organisers of the “Naija Women Football League Awards.”



The NFF Vice President said he was impressed with Ruth’s bravery and thought there was a need to reward her, so she can do more and be better with her job.

President Buhari today said no matter how anybody feels or what they think, former military dictator, General Sani Abacha, contributed immensely to the infrastructural development of the country during his time in office.

President Buhari said this when he hosted the Buhari Support Organisation (BSO), led by Hameed Ali, Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), today May 22nd.

According to the president, Nigeria's civilian presidents before and after Abacha spent billions of naira in infrastructure yet have had little to show for it.

“I have to repeat what I want public to know here. Some of you may not have heard it. Either there is no power in your place or even in the television, I said and I challenge anybody to check from Europe, Asia and America. Between 1999 and 2014, Nigeria was getting 2.1 million barrels per day at average cost of $100 dollars per barrel. It went up to $143. So Nigeria was earning 2.1m million times 100 times 16 years seven days a week. When we came, it collapsed to $37-38 and it was oscillating between 40 and 54 sometimes. I went to the Governor of Central Bank; thank goodness I did not sack him; he is still there! I went with my cap in my hand but there were no savings, only debt. And you know more than I do the condition of the roads and some of them were not repaired since PTF days. No matter what opinion you have about Abacha, I agreed to work with him and the PTF road we did from here to Port Harcourt, to Onitsha, to Benin and so on. On top of other things in the institution, education, medical care and so on.

You know the rail was killed and one of the former Heads of State between that time was bragging that he spent more than $15billion, not naira, on power. Where is the power? Where is the power? And now we have to pay the debts and this year and last year's budgets I took to the National Assembly were the highest in capital projects: more than N1.3trillion.

Let anybody come and confront me publicly in the National Assembly. What have they been doing? Some of them have been there for 10 years. What have they been doing? So, really, this country, luckily for me, I said it about eight years [ago] that we have no other country than Nigeria, we should remain here and salvage it together no matter what you have outside” he said

The Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike has said that the Federal Government is planning to assassinate him.
According to the Governor, the plan is to kill him in a crowd and claim that it is an accidental discharge.

Wike said this while thanking God for his third year anniversary as Governor at the Living Faith Church in Port Harcourt.

He said “Intelligence report available to us as at this morning indicate that they are plotting to assassinate me in a crowd and claim it was accidental discharge “.

Committed to the defence of democracy
Governor Wike also said that he cannot be intimidated by the alleged assassination plot, adding that he is committed to the defence of democracy.

“The level of conspiracy against Rivers State is unfortunate. Instead of focusing on governance, they focus on how to assassinate me or frame me up,” he added.

According to The Independent, Wike said that the assassination plot will fail because God is his defence.

“I am not afraid of my residence being searched by the Police, but I know their evil intention.

“We are born to win, we are born to reign, we are destined for greatness. While other states are commissioning wheelbarrows, we are commissioning infrastructure.”

Governor Wike recently accused President Buhari’s administration of intimidating the press.

According him the media in Nigeria lost its voice in 2015, when the All Progressives Congress (APC) came into power.

The Governor also called on the media to wake up to its responsibilities and defend poor Nigerians who are suffering under Buhari’s rule.

Just 28 days ago, students at Santa Fe High School walked out of class along with teens across the country to demand an end to the bloodshed that has rippled through U.S. schools.
The Texas students distributed fact sheets on gun violence, they wore orange ribbons, they read a poem from a survivor of the Valentine's Day massacre at a Parkland, Fla., high school.
They observed 17 minutes of silence on National Walkout Day, the 19th anniversary of a shooting at Columbine, a massacre in 1999 that triggered one of the first national debates over gun-control laws and school security.

On Friday, those same students — young people who have never known a world without active shooter drills in their classrooms — became the latest victims when bullets rained down again.
Police say nine students and one adult were killed when a gunman opened fire at the school. Explosives were found on the school campus and off the grounds.

This time it was the Santa Fe students whose frantic parents raced to the scene, this time it was the Santa Fe students whose anguished voices described the horror and panic that erupted at the start of the school day.
“One minute we’re sitting there doing math problems and then we’re being told to run for our lives," Lauren Little told KHOU.
"There were people crying and screaming everywhere. There were parents crying because they didn’t know where their kids were,” said Lauren, who told the station the students took cover behind a car wash across the highway.

WASHINGTON — President Trump used extraordinarily harsh rhetoric to renew his call for stronger immigration laws Wednesday, calling undocumented immigrants "animals" and venting frustration at Mexican officials who he said "do nothing" to help the United States.
“We have people coming into the country or trying to come in, we're stopping a lot of them, but we're taking people out of the country. You wouldn't believe how bad these people are," Trump said.
"These aren't people. These are animals."
Trump's comments came in a freewheeling, hour-long White House meeting with local California leaders opposed to so-called "sanctuary city" policies. "California's law provides safe harbor to some of the most vicious and violent offenders on Earth, like MS-13 gang members putting innocent men, women, and children at the mercy of these sadistic criminals," he said.
His comment about "animals" came after Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims complained that state law forbids her from telling U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement about undocumented immigrants in her jail — even if she suspects they're part of a gang.
"There could be an MS-13 member I know about. If they don’t reach a certain threshold, I cannot tell ICE about it," she said.
Trump's remarks were reminiscent of his first press conference as a presidential candidate in 2015, when he said the United States had become a "dumping ground" for people other countries didn't want.
"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best," he said then. "They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."
Trump has been particularly vocal in opposing so-called "sanctuary city" policies, in which some jurisdictions have refused to fully cooperate with federal immigration authorities. On Wednesday, he highlighted California cities who do cooperate, inviting mayors and sheriffs opposed to the state's predominant policy.
"Each of you has bravely resisted California's deadly and unconstitutional sanctuary state law," Trump told them.
In other comments, Trump:

► Called for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to investigate Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf for warning undocumented immigrants of an upcoming sweep by immigration agents. "You talk about obstruction of justice, I would recommend that you look at obstruction of justice for the mayor, Jeff," the president said.

► Expressed frustration at his southern neighbor for not doing more to stop the flow of refugees and immigrants into the United States. "Mexico does nothing for us, they do nothing for us. Mexico talks, but they do nothing for us, especially at the border," he said. "Certainly don’t help us much on trade."

► Blamed Democrats for a policy of
separating children from their parents when undocumented families enter the United States.
"I know what you're going through with families is very tough," he told Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen. "But those are the bad laws the Democrats gave us. We have to break up families. The Democrats gave us that law. It's a horrible thing we have to break up families."

WaffcityHot gathers that Osinbajo’s comments were in reaction to statements made by indigenes of Benue state, during the stakeholders’ meeting which took place on Wednesday, May 16, at the Banquet hall of the Benue People’s House, Makurdi.
In particular, Osinbajo was reacting to the speech by Bishop William Avenya of the Gboko dioceses of the Catholic Church, who said God would hold the vice president responsible, if he fails to act.

The vice president also said the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) government will prove there is no agenda to Islamise the nation; and that it would do so by protecting the people of the state from further attacks, and rebuilding the waste places.

Liverpool are planning to sign France international Ousmane Dembele is they lose Mohamed Salah

Champions League finalists Liverpool will make a bid to sign Barcelona youngster Ousmane Dembele should Mohamed Salah joins Real Madrid this summer.

The Egyptian forward has been superb for the Reds since he joined them last year – scoring 44 goals in all competitions so far this season.

He (Salah) stands a chance to crown his beautiful season with Jurgen Klopp’s side when they clash against the defending champions, Real Madrid in Ukraine later this month.

However, with Los Blancos planning to offer the Liverpool an offer they may not be able to reject, they have also began to shop for a replacement for their star player.



According to Daily Star quoting Don Balon, the Reds are ready to offer a bid of £70m (€80m) for the France international if they lose Salah to Real Madrid.

The same publication claims the former Dortmund forward has been offered a mouthwatering deal by Liverpool, but a transfer rival is on the scene.

Bayern Munich have also shown interest in signing the player and will match the Reds’ proposal and a move to the Bundesliga champions is also said to appeal.

Dembele joined the Catalans from Borussia Dortmund last summer for a fee that could reach €147 million but hasn’t really been impressive for the club.

He has scored four goals and created eight assists in all competitions for the Camp Nou side, however, Jurgen Klopp has sparked speculation about swooping for Dembele earlier this month.



The German said: “He's on the market? Now I'm interested.”

In 2016, the France international turned down an offer from the Reds when he quit Rennes for Dortmund. Saying: “I saw Klopp in Paris but I told him I’d made up my mind to sign for BVB.”

With reports coming out of Spain, Barcelona might to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid in the summer which Don Balon suggest would further throw Dembele’s future into doubt.

However, Nou Camp president Josep Maria Bartomeu has insisted Dembele is not leaving.

“The option of selling him is not on the table,” Bartomeu said.

“We are finishing the season and then there will be meetings. He's an investment for the future. He is very young and we expect a lot from him.”

Due to injury in his early days at the Camp Nou, the 20-year-old has only featured 16 times for his club after joining them last year.

Dembele got his senior career started at Rennes in France in 2015, and after one year, German League side, Borussia Dortmund signed him in 2016.

Barely one year into his contract in Germany, he joined Barcelona in 2017 and he has already won the La Liga title.

The Abuja home of Senator Dino Melaye has been reportedly taken over by a combined team of mobile and regular police officers.
Two aides of the senator who did not want to be named, confirmed to Waffcityhot on Monday, April 23, that the siege began about 1.40pm when police officers arrived Melaye’s residence in Mississippi, Maitama District.
The sun reports that four loaded police vehicles were parked on the road leading to Melaye’s house.
The newspaper stated that the policemen on ground declined to comment and also prevented journalists from taking pictures of the siege.

A young lady has lost her life in a Lagos hospital due to power outage, as the hospital claims they have no fuel to power their generator Waffcityhot has learnt.

Aderinsola Adebola Elizabeth is a sickle cell patient who was admitted at the Epe general hospital where she was surviving on oxygen.

The sister of the late Aderinsola has narrated how her sister died after the Oxygen went off due to lack of power.

She wrote: ''facing the reality of life is one hard thing to deal with! I know so many people see me looking all good and smiley for the gram! It is not always easy to hide the pains but I have been a fighter, I haven’t been fighting alone! Side by side I fought the battle of life with you Sis! Over 3 decades ago we were brought to this life with the Sickle Cell anemia! M not even going to mention how we faced rejection from our father! But I know things didn’t remain the same after we lost our mom 1997! Since then we realized she has actually been covering a big space ... side by side we face terrible Crisis, life threatening pain! Let’s go for “ Sickle Cells Forum” that is ur anthem every Sat! But I hate to accept the fact that I am one! But as I said you are a fighter ! I had never been serious planning any wedding like I was with yours! Just so u know D.A I wouldn’t even bring out my camera to take pics if I know I would be wishing you a RIP with it! Is there life on mars?

The Red Planet is a bit like Earth and is thought to have been covered with water at some point in its ancient history.
Spaced out stargazers claim to have spotted all manner of weird things on Mars , from pyramids to alien bears.
But real scientists are no closer to discovering whether the Red Planet is actually a dead planet, or whether it once supported life.
It is thought Mars was frozen over roughly 3.8 billion years ago before warming periods melted the surface and created deep valleys and canyons.
A build-up of greenhouse gases in Mars’ dense atmosphere is thought to have sparked dramatic climate cycles.
Scientists believe this could by why the planet has water-carved features.
Water provides the conditions needed for life – so there could have been living organisms on Mars billions of years ago.
However, they could very well have been wiped out by the changing climate.
Is an alien megastructure orbiting a distant star?
Researcher Jason Wright was the first to suggest that aliens could be responsible for the flickering behaviour of a distant star
In October last year, scientists offered a new theory to explain why a distant star called KIC 8462852, or Tabby’s Star, was displaying a bizarre “blinking” behaviour which caused its light to dim periodically.
One researcher made the serious suggestion that the light was being blocked by a huge object called a Dyson Sphere – a theoretical structure which could be built around a star in order to harvest its energy.
Last year, Jason Wright of Penn State University said the bizarre signals around Tabby’s Star looked like a “swarm of megastructures” and suggested they were “something you would expect an alien civilisation to build”.
“I can’t figure this thing out and that’s why it’s so interesting, so cool – it just doesn’t seem to make sense,” he told The Independent.
Other scientists have claimed the behaviour of Tabby’s Star could be caused by a swarm of orbiting comets which periodically block out its light or suggested it was the result of a
complex phenomenon called "avalanche statistics".

Are aliens trying to contact us?

Aliens could be trying to contact us, experts believe
Scientist have picked up number of strange signals from distant stars in recent years.
Whilst most of them probably come from natural sources, some signals may have been sent by aliens.
Last year, astronomers Ermanno F. Borra and Eric Trottier published a paper with the title
"Signals probably from Extraterrestrial Intelligence" detailing the discovery of 234 signals.
The duo wrote: "We consider the possibility, predicted in a previous published paper, that the signals are caused by light pulses generated by Extraterrestrial Intelligence to make us aware of their existence."
Sadly, we're no closer to working out what aliens are trying to say - or whether they were actually saying anything at all.


Are aliens on Jupiter's moon?

Some scientists believe Europa, which is about the size of Earth’s moon, has an ocean hidden beneath its frozen crust.
If the predictions turn out to be correct, this could be a great place to look for alien organisms.
“With abundant salt water, a rocky sea floor, and the energy and chemistry provided by tidal heating, Europa could be the best place in the solar system to look for present day life beyond our home planet,” NASA said last year.
The moon is thought to boast a huge global ocean containing twice as much water as Earth's oceans lurking beneath a layer of extremely cold and hard ice of unknown thickness.
NASA believes it has found evidence of water vapour plumes erupting off the surface of Jupiter’s moon.
Could these plumes contain traces of life that allow scientists to solve this space mystery?
Are we aliens?
Some scientists believe humans are the descendants of Martian life which was carried to Earth billions of years ago on an asteroid.
Scientists believe life might have begin on Mars and then “contaminated” our own planet.
It’s believed life had a better chance of getting started on the now arid planet in ancient times because it used to have the right conditions for alien life – like water and a possible atmosphere.
They think that an asteroid collision caused by space rocks in our solar system smashing into each other might have caused a chunk of life from Mars to land on Earth.
Astronomer Caleb Sharf told Business Insider: “We can find pieces of Mars here on Earth and we suspect that there are pieces of Earth on Mars.

Are there any habitable planets around us?

Stargazers have already spotted several "exoplanets" , which is the name given to planets outside our own solar system.
Since its launch in 2009, NASA’s planet finding Kepler Spacecraft has discovered more than
4000 exoplanet candidates.
Of these, there have been 216 Earth-like located within the Goldilocks Zone — the region around a star in which the surface temperature of an orbiting planet might support water.
The problem is that while most of these Earth-like planets are habitable, they are located thousands of light years away, which means they are out of our reach.
However, astronomers recently found a “second Earth” capable of supporting life.
Astronomers at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) spotted an alien world orbiting Proxima Centauri — a red dwarf, a small low-mass star about 4.25 light-years from the Sun, which they called Proxima b.
They also found a world orbiting a nearby star 14 light years away, which may have an atmosphere that can support life.
European stargazers trained their telescopes on a planet called GJ 1132 b to discover that its blanketed by a thick atmosphere of “alien air”.

The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, has reacted to the ongoing outrage over comments by President Muhammadu Buhari, suggesting majority of Nigerian youths are lazy.

Speaking to journalists on Friday, April 20, at the sidelines of the ongoing African Drum Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun state, Alhaji Mohammed said the president was quoted out of context.

He noted that the current administration had invested in the youth with some of its programmes.

His words: “Some people have just made it their full-time job these days to scrutinise and twist whatever the president says out of context.

“I wonder how a government that has employed 100,000 unemployed graduates and also feeds about 7.5 million people daily could be tagged anti-youth.

“Our social investment programmes have continued to generate jobs and create opportunities for our teeming youths while our empowerment programmes have been providing soft loans to over 400,000 youths.

“This is a government that is so concerned and passionate about youth development and it is not right for people to begin to quote Mr. President out of context and thereby incite the youths against the government.”

Meanwhile, the deputy national publicity secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has asked the president to apologize over his comments.

In a statement recieved by Waffcityhot on Thursday, April 19, the APC chieftain said the president's comment cannot be justified because the government has not given the youth opportunity to serve, hence there was no need to demarket them at an international event like Commonwealth Business Forum.

1. The 2004 Invincibles

This certainly has to be Wenger's greatest achievement in his long career at Arsenal. Going a full season, 38 league games home and away, without defeat is the most remarkable thing football lovers have seen in the Premier League history.


It started with a 2-1 win at home to Everton and ended with a 2-1 win at home to Leicester and between those two there were 24 wins, 12 draws, no defeats.

12 years after, this feat is still unique as no club has been able to repeat this or create a better record.

2. The 1998 and 2002 Double

Arsene Wenger became the first foreign manager in the Premier League to win the double in 1998.


He went on to do it twice as he also won a double in 2002 (the Premier League and FA cup).

3. FA cup win in 2014 to end 9-year title drought

Arsene Wenger won the FA Cup in the year after their Invincibles season, but he went through nine years without silverware after that, which brought to light the movement #WengerOut on social media.


But Arsenal came from two goals down to eventually defeat Hull City in extra-time of a dramatic final that ended the club's trophy drought.

Wenger went on to make it back-to-back FA Cup triumphs by winning the 2015 competition too.

4. Thierry Henry's goal in 2005/2006 Champions League semifinal against Real Madrid

Arsenal's run to their first and so far only Champions League final was spectacular.

A 1-0 win at Real Madrid, thanks to a Thierry Henry strike, saw Wenger's side become the first English team to win at the Bernabeu.

Sadly, they lost the final to Barcelona after been reduced to 10-men in the early stage of the game.

5. Seven FA Cup trophies and a record in 2017

Wenger became most successful manager in FA Cup history after his Arsenal side downed Chelsea 2-1 to lift the title.


The Frenchman has won seven FA Cup titles, more than any other manager in the title's 144 years of existence.

Made is one of the fastest rising in WARRI and has right fully claimed his spot on our top 10 chart as No.10. He has an accolade of songs on his hands and has been featured in musical bombs one notably by Myz3 in 'FAR' one of the songs to blast the airwaves of WARRI once released.


No.9 : Gasky
Gasky has definitely earned a spot with one of his accolades is featuring lil kesh in a yet to be ascertained song. Gasky will occupy number 9.


No.8: Apache
Apache born and bred in waff city is a fast rising act whose hit song 'Wanna be' is still ringing in the waves of WARRI. Apache has a lot of collabos one of notice is when he feature Ogenyi in 'Mr jide'. Apache will occupy 8.


No.7: Mr Wealth
Mr Wealth is one that is ready to hit WARRI with back to back bangers as he is most notable for his song 'Make am' where he featured the likes of Myz3 and Sosix. The song has since been adapted into gospel and has taken many forms but the original is still banging.

No.6 : Milly k
Milly k has warmed the heart of many WARRI music lover sin he released the song ' werey'. He definetly deserves our no.6 spot.


No. 5 : 9piece
9piece is a musician who has since been known to almost all WARRI teens as he has been featured in block busting songs. He is one of the most famous among the top 10. He is known to double into comedy on Facebook with the handle Oghenetega Joel. He has been featured in songs like Papa Afis, and has sang bangers like' She loves' which caused a stir in WARRI as people vibed to this banger. He is definitely making our list.

Embattled Senator Ovie Omo-Agege whisked away by the police over his alleged role in the invasion of the Senate Chamber has been released by the police, Waffcityhot has learnt.

A statement by his Office confirmed that the Delta Central senator has “left the police” after Omo-Agege told the police his perspective on the invasion of the National Assembly by armed hoodlums.

It said that suspended Omo-Agege denied leading hoodlums to invade the Senate chamber.

It senator also said that Omo-Agege denied removing Senate mace and handing it over to the invaders.
