Pope Francis expresses his condolences for the victims of a terror attack on a Catholic Church in Nigeria’s southwestern Ondo State which killed over 50 people, including several children.
As the Church celebrated Pentecost Sunday, gunmen entered St. Francis Xavier Church in Owo, Nigeria and opened fire on worshippers.

Initial reports suggest the attackers also set off explosives during the attack in Ondo State.
In response, Pope Francis expressed his solidarity with the victims and sent his prayers.

The Pope “prays for the victims and for the country, painfully attacked at a time of celebration, and he entrusts everyone to the Lord, that God might send His Spirit to console them,” said Matteo Bruni, the Director of the Holy See Press Office, on Sunday.


Dozens dead and wounded
Local doctors told Reuters news agency that at least 50 people were killed in the attack.
Dozens of others were wounded and taken to hospitals in Owo. Doctors have appealed for blood donations on social media.
Bishop’s closeness
Bishop Jude Ayodeji Arogundade, of the Diocese of Ondo, expressed his closeness to the victims and their families, according to Fr. Augustine Ikwu, the Communications Director for the diocese.
Fr. Ikwu said fears are rising that many more people may die from their wounds, and lamented that the Church had been "violated.”
He denied initial reports on social media that the attackers had kidnapped the priest and other members of the congregation.
“All the priests in the parish are safe and none was kidnapped,” said Fr. Ikwu in a press release. "The Bishop of the Diocese is also with them at this trying time.” He added that the Bishop also urges Catholics to “remain calm, be law abiding, and pray for peace and normalcy to return to our commuity, state, and country.”


Prayers for peace
Fr. Ikwu said the identity of the attackers remains unknown, but that Nigerian security forces have been deployed in the area surrounding the church in Owo.
He also invoked God’s help to restore “peace and tranquility” in the country.
“We turn to God to console the families of those whose lives were lost in this distressing incident, and pray for the dparted souls to rest in peace,” he said.


President Buhari’s response
Meanwhile, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari issued a statement in response to the attack.
He expressed condolences for the families of the victims, and ordered emergency agencies to assist the injured.
“No matter what, this country shall never give in to evil and wicked people, and darkness will never overcome light. Nigeria will eventually win,” read the President’s statement.

Breaking, climbing, skateboarding and surfing have been provisionally added to the 2024 Olympic program, the International Olympic Committee decided in a unanimous vote Tuesday at its session in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The Paris 2024 organizers proposed the sports for one-time inclusion in March. A final decision on the 2024 program is expected at the IOC executive board meeting in December 2020.
Skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing will be contested for the first time at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, while breaking would make its Olympic debut in Paris. The sport was previously contested at the Summer Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018, where climbing also made its debut on an Olympic level.

The sports represent the IOC’s aim of reaching younger, more diverse audiences. In addition, IOC President Thomas Bach noted the four sports would contribute to greater gender balance and sustainability, key goals outlined in the Olympic Agenda 2020 reforms.

The proposed sports would include 248 athletes, with equal numbers of men and women, while keeping the total list of total participants in Paris within the 10,500 limit. The IOC also said 95 percent of the venues would be either existing or temporary.


IOC representatives and local organizers will observe the sports in the coming months, including at the 2020 Games, to determine if they should be accepted into the final program.
Breaking, a style of dancing that begin in the 1970s in New York City, features dancers called B-boys and B-girls performing to upbeat music and being judged on creativity, technique, variety, musicality, performance and personality. A men’s and a women’s event are proposed, with 16 athletes each.

In a change from the 2020 Games, climbing would have two events each for men and women: combined bouldering & lead, and speed. Tokyo 2020 will feature one combined event for each gender. The number of participants would also rise from 20 men and 20 women in Tokyo to 36 on each side in Paris.

Skateboarding would include men’s and women’s events in the street and park disciplines, while surfing would have a men’s and women’s shortboard event. Both match the disciplines that will be contested in Tokyo. However, both would add participants, with skateboarding having 48 for each gender (up from 40 in Tokyo), and surfing 24 per gender (up from 20 in Tokyo).

Not included on the list of provisional sports for Paris are baseball and softball. Those sports were removed from the Olympic program following the 2008 Games in Beijing, but the Tokyo 2020 organizers added them back in for 2020, utilizing the new IOC rule that allowed host countries to add select sports on a one-time basis.
Karate was also added to the 2020 Games using that provision and will not be contested in 2024.

Amid rising tensions with Iran, Trump has warned that if any country attacked Japan, he would fight “World War 3”. Speaking to Fox News’ Business Network, Trump spoke of the bilateral trade deals of the G20 summit. In his scathing interview, Trump also attacked other countries for taking advantage of their respective trade deals with the US.

The US President said: “Almost all countries in this world take tremendous advantage of the United States.
“It’s unbelievable.”
Trump’s comments on Wednesday come following a report from Bloomberg which stated that he was considering pulling out of a longstanding treaty between the US and Japan.
The two countries have established close democratic and military ties since they signed the Treaty of San Francisco in 1951, officially ending World War Two.

A mother who let her diaper-wearing baby rot away to a skeleton in her trash-filled home has been cleared of murder.

Erika Murray, 35, was acquitted of second-degree murder on Thursday after prosecutors were unable to prove that she caused one of the infant’s deaths, Judge Janet Kenton Walker ruled.

Walker also ruled that Murray, a mother of seven, was mentally impaired and she did not understand how bad the conditions of her home had become,

Murray was arrested in Blackstone, Massachusetts in August 2014 when police discovered a dead infant stuffed in a closet of the filthy home, with the placenta still attached, near a dead dog in a separate bag.
A second baby’s body was found in another closet. A third was discovered ‘diapered and fully clothed, but they were skeletal remains,’ prosecutors said.


One of the two murder charges against her was dismissed earlier this month because a medical examiner could not determine whether the baby was born dead or alive.

She was never charged with the third baby’s death.

Murray was also acquitted of child endangerment, however she was found guilty of two counts of assault and battery on a child.
Walker said Murray had: ‘Cognitive deficits, personality disorder and victimization … produced extremely primitive coping mechanisms.’
‘She was not conscious or aware of how bad everything had become.’

The horrid conditions of Murray’s home was originally reported by her neighbor, Betsy Brown, after Murray’s ten-year-old came to her to help him shush a crying baby.
Brown was the first witness to testify in Murray’s case and broke down crying as she described the home.

She said: ‘Dirty diapers, lots of dirty diapers, baby bottles, maggots everywhere. It was really dark and hot. It was horrible.’
‘You really couldn’t see a floor. It was more like just walking on top of stuff trying to get to other stuff … horrible rotting food, dirty diapers. It was horrible. It was the worst smell I’ve ever smelled.’

Tiffani O’Brien said she woke up on an empty Air Canada plane, in the dark and “freezing cold,” after a short flight from Quebec City to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, CTV reported.
“It’s just a sheer sense of helplessness when you feel like you’re locked on this aircraft,” O’Brien told CTV .
O’Brien “got super comfy reading my book” and fell asleep “probably less than halfway” into the 90-minute flight, she said in a Facebook post, shared with Air Canada by a friend on her behalf.
“I wake up around midnight (few hours after flight landed) freezing cold still strapped in my seat �in complete darkness (I’m talking pitch black),” she said in the Facebook post, adding it was “terrifying.”
O’Brien sent a text to a friend about her predicament.
“I just woke up alone in plane,” said one text O’Brien showed CTV. “Omg.”
Her friend texted back that she called the airport’s customer service to let them know about O’Brien.
O’Brien said her phone died after she communicated with her friend, and she was able to find a flashlight in the cockpit.
“I’m so scared I’m going to touch something that’s wrong, but I knew I had to do something,” she told CTV.
She also says she managed to get the door of the plane open and was rescued by a ground crew.
The incident happened June 9, and caught the media’s attention after the Facebook post 10 days later.
O’Brien said in the Facebook post that she has recurring night terrors and is “waking up anxious and afraid I’m alone locked up someplace dark.”
When contacted by CNN, Air Canada said: “We are still reviewing this matter so I have no additional details to share, but we have followed up with the customer and remain in contact with her.”
Robin Smith, Greater Toronto Airports Authority Senior Advisor of Communications, said: “As the airport operator, our role is to conduct airfield operations and maintain the terminals. I would recommend contacting an airline for a comment on the use of deplaning equipment, as airlines and their ground handlers are responsible for all aircraft operations, including deplaning passengers and using that equipment.”

Murtaja Qureiris faces the death penalty if he is found guilty
He has spent nearly four years in pre-trial detention – including at least one year and three months in solitary confinement – and could be sentenced to death, a CNN investigation has revealed.

Not only could be killed but authorities also want his body to be crucified or dismembered after his death.

Saudi Arabian authorities have accused the teen of belonging to an extremist terror group and Qureiris is currently on trial.

While he has not been charged with any death, prosecutors say he was “sowing sedition” and therefore should face the heaviest of penalties under Saudi law.

His brother, Ali Qureiris, was killed by Saudi forces while he was taking part in a demonstration.

Under Saudi Arabia’s Royal Decree 44/A, which backs up the 2014 Law for the Crimes of Terrorism and its Financing, protests are criminalised, carrying a sentence between three and 20 years, according to the Human Rights Watch.

DEATH PENALTY
The exact age of criminal responsibility in the Middle Eastern country is unclear but in 2006 it told the Committee on the Rights of the Child the age had been raised to 12.

While Qureiris was 13 when he was arrested it has been uncovered that he was ten when he is said to have committed one of the alleged crimes which is thought to have taken place during a series of uprisings which became known as the Arab Spring.

The charges he faces included accompanying his activist brother on a motorcycle ride to a police station in the city of Awamiay, where his brother is said to have thrown Molotov cocktails.

In a video obtained by CNN Qureiris is seen taking part in a bike ride protest with other youngsters.

Qureiris has denied the charges and claims the confessions the prosecution has presented were obtained under duress.

If Qureiris is condemned to death, he will join at least three other prisoners executed this year for crimes said to have been committed before the age of 18.

In April this year Saudi Arabia said it had executed 37 men who, according to the human rights group Reprieve, were mainly from the country's Shia minority.

It marked the largest number of executions in a single day in Saudi Arabia since January 2, 2016, when the kingdom executed 47 people for terrorism-related crimes.

Today's killings brings the number of people executed since the start of the year to around 100, according to official announcements.

Last year, the kingdom executed 149 people, most of them drug smugglers convicted of non-violent crimes, according to Amnesty's most recent figures.

Group led by Vice Premier Ri Ryong Nam departed Saturday morning, state media reports

A delegation of North Korean government officials departed Pyongyang on Saturday to attend an event in Nigeria, the country’s Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

The group, which is led by DPRK vice premier Ri Ryong Nam, is set to take part in celebrations of Nigeria’s “Democracy Day” on June 12, it added.

No further details on the group’s itinerary have been given, though Ri is seen as one of the DPRK’s most high-profile economic officials, with an expertise in foreign trade and investment.

Last September’s inter-Korean summit in Pyongyang, for example, saw him hold a meeting with South Korean business leaders, including Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-Yong and Hyundai Group CEO Hyun Jeong-eun.

The trip represents the first to Africa by a high-level North Korean delegation since October last year, when a group of officials, also led by Ri, visited Equatorial Guinea to take part in the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the independence of the country.

The DPRK and Nigeria maintain relatively close ties, having in 2014 signed a cooperation agreement to promote the exchange of knowledge in information technology.

North Korean doctors have also been known to work in Nigeria, and the UN Panel of Experts in March reported that the DPRK’s Korea General Corporation for External Construction (GENCO) continues to operate in the country.

Minister Ri and his colleagues were spotted arriving at Beijing Capital Airport by reporters from South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency on Saturday morning.

They reportedly met with DPRK ambassador to China Ji Jae Ryong upon their arrival, as well as other officials from the country’s ruling Communist Party.

A photographer, Nasiru Ali, is demanding N100 million as damages from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for "wrongly" parading him as an internet fraudsterYahoo boy.

Ali was arrested in the early hours of May 17, 2019, after EFCC operatives raided his home in Abuja.

The photographer was reportedly alseep when officials of the anti-graft agency stormed his house.

Subsequently, his picture and name alongside nine other people was published on May 20 on EFCC's Instagram page.



In a petition dated May 30, 2019 and addressed to the acting EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu, the photographer through his lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbensi, said he lost a N5 million contract over the incident.

Ali demanded for an "unreserved apology" for the "wrongful arrest" and "libellous publication."

"That your good office publish and tender an unreserved apology for the wrongful arrest and unlawful detention as well as the libellous publication of our client for no just cause on all your online platforms and two other national newspapers," the petition read.

"That you pay to our client the sum of one hundred million naira only (100. 000, 000.00) being minimal damages to assuage his already battered reputation."

The photographer said should the EFCC fail to meet the conditions within seven days, he would go to court.

The translation of a line in the Lord’s Prayer has been changed by The Pope after he signalled he was frustrated that it implies God might lead people into temptation.
Pope Francis approved altering the translation of the line “and lead us not into temptation” to “do not let us fall into temptation.”
The revised line will appear in the third edition of the Messale Ramano after it was approved on May 22nd during the General Assembly of the Episcopal Conference of Italy, Enttown reports.
The Pope has previously told Italian TV that the new translation was already being used by the Catholic Church because the original translation implies God leads humans to sin.
"Do not let me fall into temptation because it is I who fall, it is not God who throws me into temptation and then sees how I fell," he told TV2000, an Italian Catholic TV channel in 2017.

26-year-old Nigerian, Silas Adekunle, credited for building the world’s first gaming robot, has just become the highest paid in the field of Robotic engineering.

He achieved this feat after signing a new deal with Apple. He is currently the founder and CEO of Reach Robotics, a company developing the world’s first gaming robots.

The robotics engineer after gaining four years’ background in robotics graduated with a 1st class according to reports.

After completing his secondary school education, he proceeded to the University of the West of England where he graduated with a first class graduate in Robotics.

He gained experience on robotics within a space of 4 years and also became a team leader of Robotics In School sprogramme, a programme which encourages and pays attention to students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). It was during his involvement in the programme that he thought of developing robotics to make education more entertaining for STEM students.

In 2017, Mekamon, the world’s first gaming robot was born. A part of its unique feature is the ability to customize the gaming bot to perform personalized functions. His initial launch of Mekamon sold 500 bots, generating $7.5 million.

Champions League pitch invader Kinsey Wolanski claims she received a special plaque from UEFA despite being thrown out of the stadium.
The 22-year-old model ran across the pitch in a swimming costume during the first half of the Champions League final between Liverpool and
