Since you are in the UK, you can apply with an expired passport. Just increase the validity year of your passport. In additional docs, include a letter to explain what you have done. You may also include proof of application for renewal as a back up. I know ppl who have done this with no issues.

I personally know a few people (about 3) who applied for visas ( not PSW) with expired passports. They got the visas.
On one occasion, the system refused to accept Dec 2023 as date of expiration . She entered Dec 2024 just to pass that stage on the application. Then, she wrote an explainer, detailing how she has booked for passport renewal and how the nigeria passport biometric queue is long.
She received her visa.

I am currently residing in the UK and find myself in a bit of a predicament. My passport has recently expired and the earliest appointment I could secure for its renewal is scheduled after the expiration date of my current visa.

This situation has left me quite concerned and I am seeking advice on a specific matter: Is it possible to apply for a graduate visa in the UK with an expired passport?

I am not exactly able to interpret the message on the page attached: I consider an expired passport to be a means of identity still. It might just not be a tenable travel document at the port of entry.
