biolafrica: INDIA Vs NIGERIA: 99-1. Abeg Who Watch Am? When we were young this story used to be common. That is, how India used Juju to beat Nigeria 99-1. We were told the ball would turn into rock or lion when Nigeria was playing. I heard this when I was a young boy . I raised this among my friends years back and to my surprise all of them, though from different parts of the country, also said they heard it when they were also young. Please who invented this 'story'? How did it go round to become a national lie? Who also heard about this story? Who has idea about how it was concocted? That story is a fictitive as anything can be. India doesn't have any pedigree in soccer whatsoever. It's a story I while heard growing up. i just wonder how it went around that effectively. u wan tell me say u no know say Iindia wire us 99-1 true true ? in fact it was Thunder Balogun that struck the only ballistic goal into their net Abi our grandpas are liars. I did believe it, and even told the stories myself as if i was there, The mind of a child can believe, we need to use that mind for great things, cos our own mind, na so so impossible e dey see . . .all our players were seeing double and the goalie-mepon was just picking goal upon goals from his net I WAS TOLD THAT NIGERIA'S ONE AND ONLY GOAL WAS WORTH 100 THE FACT IS THAT ....... Sometimes they tell us they came first in the regional exams, none of them has ever come last. YOU grandpas LIEd to us.... GOD HAS FORGIVEN YOU ........LOL its just a myth click this linkhttps://www.nairaland.com/1952284/greatest-lie-ever-told |

Celebrities › There’s ‘nothing’ To Ndlea’s Probe — Davido by holyteeboy(op): 5:46pm On Jul 15, 2015 |
Nigerian pop star, Davido, has reacted to the alleged investigation of his ‘Fans mi’ video by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA over what many termed promotion of narcotics, a banned and illegal substance.
In a recent interview with a National daily, the Director of Public Affairs of the NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, explained that the body has set up an investigative panel. ‘I am aware that a panel is working on it (the video). The panel was set up soon after the video was released few weeks ago. When our attention was drawn to it, we viewed it and we discovered that it was improper
There is no moral lesson in it and he was just advertising drug trafficking. ‘In the video, he exchanged a brief case supposedly containing narcotics for dollars. He was displaying affluence in the video. If it (the plot) had climaxed in an arrest and possible detention, we would have congratulated him for partnering with us. ‘But the way he portrayed drug trafficking in the video was a means to an end, which the end is a life of affluence which we disagree with. We are looking at the issue holistically. We believe that there should be a body that was supposed to censor videos before they go out. ‘Those are the things we want to investigate and verify. Was the video submitted for approval? If it was submitted, why was it approved, with such content?’ Ofoyeju revealed.
The controversial music video, which was shot by Sesan Ogunro and featured American rapper, Meek Mill, has enjoyed over 1million views on Youtube. However, Davido seems unfazed by the probe as he replied to a fan’s query that there is nothing to it. |
Politics › 50 Traditional Rulers Accuse Okorocha Of Not Paying Their Monthly Stipends by holyteeboy(op): 5:37pm On Jul 15, 2015 |
By Chidi Nkwopara, OWERRI. The 50 traditional rulers who have issues with Governor Rochas Okorocha, are in for fresh trouble as they have been denied their monthly stipends.
According to one of the traditional rulers, Eze Donald Nnabue, “this latest action is a pointer to what would have befallen us if we had appeared before the illegal panel set up by Eze Sam Ohiri”.
While saying that the 40 monarchs who dragged Governor Rochas Okorocha to court, have vowed to pursue their case to a logical conclusion, despite the palpable intimidation they are facing, the royal father however reasoned that the defendants had already made their conclusions on what to do with them before inviting them to the panel.
When pressed further to prove his allegation of non-payment of their stipends, Eze Nnabue said that on Friday last week, they received a text message which read: “please come on Monday for your April and May cheques at the Parliament but on getting there, the cashier told us that they had instruction not to pay us”.
The monarchs accused Eze Ohiri of ensuring that this punitive action against them are carried out to the letter but restated that they will not be deterred. “This is a fight between justice and rule of law against injustice and impunity. We remain unshaken”, the royal father said.
Feelers emanating from government circles maintained that the punishment for the traditional rulers have been categorized. It was gathered that the royal fathers who appeared before the Panel will have their six months allowances seized, while the 40 monarchs that went to court will not be paid for one year.
Similarly, the four first class traditional rulers that were earlier suspended by government would not be paid for two years. Vanguard recalls that this development was playing out despite a restraining order by an Owerri High Court, presided over by Hon. Justice Ngozi Ukoha.
The court had on June 23, 2015, ordered Governor Okorocha, Eze Samuel Ohiri and eight other defendants, to respect the pendency of the suit before the Court by refraining from doing anything punitive against the 40 monarchs. The Court also reiterated this order on July 8, 2015. |
Politics › Oil Dealer Calls For Ban On Petrol Importation by holyteeboy(op): 5:27pm On Jul 15, 2015 |
Port Harcourt – Mr Kingsley Irofuala, an oil dealer in Port Harcourt, on Wednesday said that a ban on petrol importation was necessary to revive and optimise production of Nigerian refineries.
Irofuala, owner of Kings Oil Filling station in Port Harcourt, expressed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) while speaking on ways of overcoming fuel scarcity in the country. He said that over dependence on imported fuel had contributed to the abandonment of local refineries.
‘’Importation of fuel has now opened a sinister of illegal ownership of refineries by some corrupt Nigerian leaders who divert our funds for such projects,” Irofuala said.
He described as wickedness the manner Nigerians were building refineries outside the country to the disadvantage of the ordinary citizens. “These same people use our money to buy fuel from their refineries which were built with stolen Nigerian money,’’ Irofuala said. The fuel dealer called on Nigerians to begin to be patriotic, saying that the only panacea to curb corruption was the love for the country.
Irofuala advised President Muhamadu Buhari to formulate policies that would engender immediate functioning of the local refineries. According to him, such policies will succeed only when petrol importation is banned because most of the importers are corrupt politicians.
He said that some of the economic saboteurs who sabotaged Nigerian refineries due to selfish interests would quit if petrol importation was stopped. The oil dealer said that a ban on the importation would not only boost oil supply in the country, but put an end to financial recklessness among public officers. Irofuala expressed confidence in the administration of President Buhari to drive “uncommon development in Nigeria with uncompromising policies“. (NAN) |
