Amid the medical race to find an effective vaccine for the coronavirus that is currently spreading the world, Madagascar, a southern Africa, could possible processed a tea from a local plant to cure the disease.
The coronavirus disease appeared first in 2019 in Wuhan city in China. The disease was, first identified in Wuhan and Hubei, both in China early December 2019. The original cause still unknown, it remains a puzzle and an enigma for the world scientific community.
The disease symptoms include high body temperature with persistent dry cough and acute respiratory syndrome. Some medical researchers say it is a pneumonia-related disease.
On April 21, the President of Madagascar Andry Rajoelina has officially launched a local herbal remedy claimed to prevent and cure the novel coronavirus.
“Tests have been carried out — two people have now been cured by this treatment,” Rajoelina told ministers, diplomats and journalists at the Malagasy Institute of Applied Research (IMRA), which developed the beverage.
“This herbal tea gives results in seven days. I will be the first to drink this today, in front of you, to show you that this product cures and does not kill,” stressed Rajoelina.
The drink, which has been called Covid-Organics, is derived from artemisia – a plant with proven efficacy in malaria treatment – and other indigenous herbs, according to the IMRA.
But its safety and effectiveness have not been assessed internationally, nor has any data from trials been published in peer-reviewed studies. Mainstream scientists have warned of the potential risk from untested herbal brews.
Rajoelina brushed aside any such reservations and said the concoction would be offered to schoolchildren, as it was his duty was to “protect the Malagasy people”.
“Covid-Organics will be used as prophylaxis, that is for prevention, but clinical observations have shown a trend towards its effectiveness in curative treatment,” said Dr. Charles Andrianjara, IMRA’s Director General.
Faced with further possible spread, it taken strict measures and have to adopt a range of tracking technologies to control the spread of the virus, as recommended by experts. Madagascar recorded 121 coronavirus cases since the epidemic began, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
Madagascar, located in southern Africa, belongs to the group of least developed countries, according to the United Nations. It is a member of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and African Union (AU).
This evening i went to ATM to make a withdrawal and from the debit sms alert i observed that there is an additional money to my credit balance suspected to be the exact money i am expecting from Payoneer.
So i thought this people finally credited my account after i opened a support ticket this evening and they don't send alert.
But on checking my bank transactions log, i see that the money have been credited the same day i made the withdrawal but without email nor sms alert.
No wonder after requesting for withdrawal, Payoneer sent me an email that i will receive the money that same day. That was so fast!
SoftHeart: I'm just seeing your message. You're welcome. I mean it was GTB staff that called me, the delay is usually from GTB, not payoneer. I still don't know why they usually delay the payment.
I will contact the Payoneer customer support right away.
SoftHeart: About two weeks ago. I don't understand the reason for the delay, my first withdrawal to GTB also lasted for more than 48 hours before I received a call from one of their staff asking if I was expecting a forex, I said yes, then she asked if I wanted it USD or NGN, I said NGN, then my account was created within a few minutes after she ended the call. After that first withdrawal, they usually created my account in the evening of the following day.
Please when last did you make withdrawal from Payoneer to GTBank?
Because i made a first time withdraw from Payoneer to my GTBank acct since Tuesday 10:45am and till now i am yet to be credited.
But in the email sent to me by Payoneer it was stated that i will receive the money same day and now it is over 48 hours.
SoftHeart: This is good news. A quick question please. Do you mean payoneer show you the exchange before you make the withdrawal? I've been using GTB and the fund usually takes about 48 hours to be credited into the GTB account.
backbone503: Treason isn't a bailable offence. It will take robust political negociation to get him out. This is yet another warning to others. Government can only change hands through constitutionally recognized democratic means.
So mr the law, he is guilty as charged before standing trial?
But i fear if their leader should die in FG custody omo na another terrorist group be that o.
Because i remember boko haram have been in existence since the day of OBJ but their activities were restricted within some Maiduguri neighborhood until police killed their leader and all hell were let loose.
apcmustwin: Person wey wan die don meet who wan kill am
Don't mind the people that are bashing you probably most of them are schooling in abroad.
prodigyhenry: my comment was for those who have sense sadly you don't fall into that category. I am not talking about the standard of education we are talking about the standard of living of an average Nigerian public university student, have those guy ever had a 6am to 6pm lecture, have they ever struggled to get shuttle, have they ever trekked for kms to go to class?, have they ever been failed by a lecturer because he doesn't like their name or because they didn't buy a handout, have they ever gone go exam hall without eating for days, have they had to cram formulas and chemicals they have never seen?, have they had to understand something even their lecturers don't understand?.. those guys are smart no doubt but any Nigerian public university student that can get second class upper would do far better than this guys if he gets the chance
Jerie: I'm a property lawyer in Lagos and I regularly undertake similar verification for land buyers. So, I'll advise you based on my experience.
1. There is nothing like Law of Agreement. It is either Land Agreement, Deed of Assignment, Land Sale Agreement or something similar.
2. It is either your siblings read the title wrongly, the seller got it wrong or it was drafted by an illiterate. Even a quack lawyer won't make that foolish mistake.
3. With your purchase receipt, you can undertake verification of the property.
3(b) I strongly suggest you get a PROPERTY lawyer not just any lawyer. The difference would show in the advice you get and protective clauses you get in your documents. If you get a property lawyer, you are saved some of the steps below.
4. Get a Surveyor to obtain physical coordinates of the land and confirm if it is under government acquisition. If under government acquisition, confirm if it is under committed acquisition or under ratifiable acquisition.
5. Once the above checks out, trace the family members using their receipts. Ensure the Principal members (Family head, Secretary and others) were aware of the transaction where the seller bought the land.
6. You see that receipt, check it well. Was it written that they sold the land fully or it is 'lease' they wrote on it?
7. Before you buy, get a Surveyor to measure the land to ensure the land size is as stated in the Seller's survey plan. You'll also need your survey plan so prepare for that.
8. Get a real estate lawyer to sum up all your findings and advice accordingly.
9. Ibadan has a very robust land litigation sector, it is better you protect your investments than join the long list of litigants.
esthel: Well a receipt only evidences payment and cannot transfer title. Now i want to assume the law of agreement is a mere contract of sale, different from a deed of assignment and doesn't conclude a transaction.
the most important thing to check here is the root of title of the seller I.e how did he become the owner of the property, the history of that property should be traced step by step till it gets to him. Ask if the previous title is registered, if registered then he can transfer a valid title via a deed of assignment which should be registered so that he can have an unimpeachable title.
Thank you so much.
We are now considering to employ the service of a p rofessional real estate manager or registered land surveyor to help us do the verification of the land.
