1. A typical Nigerian mum will always answer question for question..lol

2. When the child says "mum, I want to go and play with my friend"

3. A typical Nigeria mum is referred to as ‘Mama Somebody’

A Nigerian mum is referred to as Mama Nkechi or Mama Tolu. As soon as that child comes out of you, your identity changes. You become ‘Mama Somebody’. Lol

4. She's an expert in the art of backing a child

You cannot call yourself a typical Nigerian mum if you have never backed your child. Haba.

I remember when I was young, I used to back my younger ones..me wey never even born pikin.


The first trick any Nigerian mother or mother-in-law will teach her female child is the art of backing. This art is as old as time itself.

6. Her backside is noticeable from afar

While this may not apply to all Nigerian mums, but let’s be honest, most of the mums we see on the streets or in our homes have a nice round ‘backyard’.

Childbirth and marriage gradually changes their figures as the years roll by. The good thing however is that their backsides are needed to ‘elegantly’ carry their wrappers or traditional attires that they so love to wear.

7. She's a ‘gele’ or scarf tying expert

No matter what part of the country you are from. The typical Nigerian mum knows how to tie a head scarf or ‘gele’. The skills some Nigerian mums have in this regard, is simply extra-ordinary.

8. A typical Nigerian mum will tell her child's teacher to beat her child in school if he/she does not do the right thing, but if the teacher dare beat her child, Niger mum go wear trouser go fight the teacher for school. Lol

9. Her wrapper is one of her most important possessions

No matter how ‘posh’ or ‘classy’, she may claim to be, the typical Nigerian mum at least has a wrapper of some sort in her wardrobe. Wrappers are an essential item for backing children, dressing light to avoid the heat on days when there is no light or to protect us from dreaded mosquito bites.

10. Her eye is the most powerful tool of correction

Eye signal is perhaps the most powerful tool for the Nigerian mum. Woe betide any child that fails to read what their mother’s eyes are saying.

11. When you offend your mum and people plead on your behalf.
Niger mum will be like "ahhh! I promise not to beat her again", but when you get into the room, mum will lock the door and say "I'll beat the hell out of you today"

I do experience this when I was younger, cos I was a very stubborn girl.

11. ‘I will beat you’ is always at the tip of her tongue

Any Nigerian mother who hasn’t threatened to beat her child is lying. When a child misbehaves the first words at the tip of the Nigerian mother’s tongue is ‘I will beat you.’ Even a 10 month old baby is not spared.

12. No matter how educated she is, she still believes in traditional medicine and self medication.

13. "There's no food for you in this house today"

Hi all, I know these past few months have been hell on earth. I noticed that most of our recipes in the Southern and Western part of Nigeria requires soup as a compliment. I will be giving out few tips to save money and create long lasting and tasty soups.

1) Dried red bell pepper: Dried tatashe/ can perform wonders when you want a soup that you can keep adding water. It primary function is to thicken the soup. You can make a difference to your pot of soup or stew with a few dried pepper. Simply soak in hot water for 30 mins to 1 hr till it softens and add it to the rest of the ingredients, blend together, use as usual. I don’t have a recipe at hand however it would go like this:
-a couple of tomato puree sachets like 2 or 3 sachets
-10 dried red bell pepper
-2 onions
-Dried Chili Pepper
-other spices like garlic
-oil

Prepare your stew as usual

Soya cheese: it is a great substitute for expensive proteins. The downside is the energy and time it requires to peel, boil, cook and/or fry to finally get those meat-like substitutes.

-Instead of lime juice, you can get fermented/sour water from people who make ogi/pap/cornmeal. You can get it for free or buy from them cheaply. You need the same quantity as the soya milk to curdle. Just add it to the milk while it is boiling and wait for it to curdle.

Dried Chili Pepper or Sonbo: it is funny how most people often continue to use scotch bonnet pepper (Pepper) over dried chili pepper during hard times. If you want to make small and cheaper sauce for rice, yam, beans. Simply soak your dried chili pepper in hot water till it softens or soak overnight, add enough onions, ginger, garlic and other spices to douse the spiciness, fry as usual. If you do not really like hot sauce, please omit the ginger. You can use these combo to eat your rice, beans and yam.

Egg stew: the good thing about egg stew is that you do not need lots of eggs to create a substitute for Fried eggs. You still have the protein and pepper. You can use any pepper mix to create a perfect egg stew.

-Blend your pepper with onion, fry, you do not want a thick consistency if you are trying to make more.

-Season well

-Add your beaten eggs

-Continue to mix until it has solidifes

Lafun, cornmeal(tuwo) and wheat: these are morsel foods that you can substitute for Amala/eat/Semo/poundo yam and occasionally garri. Did I hear poor man's foods? I beg to disagree. Food is food. If it tastes great and is filling, then you don't have to justify it. The cheaper process that takes to make them does not mean they are inferior to other foods of the same category.

Beans soup(Gbegiri): it is a perfect and healthy substitute for soups that accompany morsels. Peel your beans, boil with onions till it softens, mash it and sieve (if you have a blender, just blend the beans with the rest of the ingredients or you could blend the beans and add it to the Pepper mix).

Okro/ogbono soup: this is the time to learn to make okro soup. You do not need tomato or Pepper mix to make a great soup. You can make a tasty okro soup with dried pepper and palm oil.

Banga soup (palm fruit): This soup is commonly prepared in SS and SE parts of Nigeria. Palm fruit extracts make up up the bulk of the soup. It is a great alternative to proper egusi soup or vegetable soups.

Melon soup: this type of melon soup is different. I believe it originates from Ijebu. It is not like the popular version of melon soup. The amazing thing about this soup is that you can eat it with rice and your morsels. You blend your dried melon with onions, scotch bonnet pepper or dried chili pepper, adding red bell pepper or dried red bell pepper is optional. Usually it contains more water, so you can add more water until you achieve the consistency you desire.

you need to realize that God told you to seek him first, God didn't tell you to go to university first. it's OK to go to university but know that God come first. in regards to the dirty so called lecturers you mentioned, honestly and as a matter of respect you shouldn't be messing with a lecturers girlfriend. if you do and he fails you then you have yourself to blame. in regards to knowing who is who, my advice is that you try to deceitfully get along with these occult people you mentioned. the world is mixed, you have children of God and children of the devil. you will have to interact with them one way or the other. in regards to knowing who is who, i.e who is a child of God and who is the occult, you shouldn't be bothered about knowing who is who except for when you want to find a marriage partner and when it comes to who you let preach to you. a child of God must never marry the occult and you must be careful of these occultic people that have infiltrated the church. you should not let them deceive you with their false preaching. other than that you should feel free to interact with anyone. in regards to those girls that mess around with lecturers they are losers because a degree is worth nothing without a job, they probably won't get a job after graduating meaning that they prostituted themselves for nothing.
