Food / Where Can I Buy The Lake Rice In Lagos? by honeywealth75(m): 12:41pm On Dec 15, 2016
About six or seven days ago i read online and it was widely reported by the media that the Lagos state goverment its set to role out its much awaited Lagos and Kebbi rice ( Lake Rice) and it will be available throughout the state local councils today December 15th 2016. So i rush down to the local council and Yaba local goverment precisely and there was not even traces or any development relating to the matter. I want to ask is it the usual scam of ' I will' we will and i shall ? I can wait to get my hand on a 50kg rice i have a naming ceremony coming up.

So i rush down

Politics / I Won’t Join APC For Ekiti 2018 Poll – Fayose by honeywealth75(m): 11:29pm On Dec 03, 2016
Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has vowed that under no circumstance would he join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Although he said earlier in the week that he was yet to be clear about the platform he would use to fight the 2018 succession battle in the state, Fayose said he remains constant and unshaken with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform he used to win the governorship polls twice.

The Governor had on Wednesday in Ikere Ekiti, at a meeting with the members of the Suppliers’ Association of Nigeria, Ikere chapter, said that he may not use PDP platform to present candidate for the 2018 poll.

Fayose’s comment might be informed by the polarization of the party into the Ahmed Makarfi and Ali Modu Sheriff factions, which led to the failure of the party’s candidate, Eyitayo Jegede in the just concluded governorship poll in Ondo State.

But speaking at the palace of Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe while being conferred with the honour of ‘Outstanding Achiever of Our Time’ by Ado Progressive Union, he said he will never dump the PDP for APC under any guise.

“I will never dump PDP for APC. I remain strong and unshaken for the PDP. I can’t jump the boat, even if I want to jump, I won’t jump into the red sea.

“Why should I leave the PDP and join a party of hunger like APC? Ekiti is different from Ondo. By the grace of God, there will be a repeat of history here in 2018, I shall repeat the 16-0 that I gave them in 2014.

“I operate like the biblical Elisha because those with us are greater than theirs. The God of Israel that conquered Philistines shall be on our side.”

Kebbi will achieve FG’s 1m tonnes of rice in 2016 – Gov. Bagudu

Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has assured the Federal Government of his commitment to achieving the one million tonnes of rice targeted at the end of 2017.

Bagudu gave the assurance when he conducted round the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, who was on assessment tour to Kebbi State on Monday.

He said that the state government had put facilities in place to encourage farmers to achieve the Federal Government’s set target.

Bagudu said: “We have prepared to ensure the targeted tonnes are achieved as our farmers have all it takes to achieve that by the end of this year.

He refuted claims by All Farmers Association of Nigeria that the distribution of the loan to farmers was politicised and that those given the Anchor Borrowers loan in the state are politicians.

In his remarks, Emefiele said he was on assessment tour to Kebbi to ascertain its level of preparedness toward achieving the targeted one million tonnes of rice by the end of 2016.

According to him, his team has visited Niger, Eboyin, Ogun, Anambra and Cross River States now they are in kebbi State where the Anchor Borrowers programme started to see how far the farmers have gone in the efforts to achieve one million tonnes of rice production.

He also called on journalists to help the Federal Government by reporting what was on ground in order to know the level of the progress of farmers in the states.

The CBN governor also commissioned solar pumping machines by Clean Energy Ltd at Gwadagwaji Area of Birnin Kebbi.Emefiele explained that they would continue to go round the states where the Anchor Borrowers programme was in progress to boost the nation’s economy.

Politics / Things You Need To Know About The Incoming UN Secretary General. Antonio Guterre by honeywealth75(m): 6:08pm On Oct 06, 2016
Things You need to know about the incoming UN secretary general.

His Name is Antonio guterres.

He was born in Lisbon Portugal in 1949.

He studied engineering and physics at instituto superior tecnico and graduated in 1971.

He joined the socialist party in 1974 before going ahead to become the socialist party secretary general in 1992

He became the Portuguese prime minister in 1995, a post he held till 2002.

Then Mr Guterres, fluent in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French, turned his attention to the world of international diplomacy, becoming the UN's high commissioner for refugees in 2005.

Under his guidance, the numbers working in the UNHCR's Geneva head office were slashed, while its capacity to respond to international crises by deploying more staff closer to hotspots was improved.

However, it was his tireless attempts to get the world's richest countries to do more for those fleeing conflict and disaster around the world that people remember.

"We can't deter people fleeing for their lives," he wrote in Timemagazine last year. "They will come. The choice we have is how well we manage their arrival, and how humanely."

Prior to his nomination, he said that his work at the UNHCR had been excellent preparation for a secretary-general.

"I think we are living in a world where we see a multiplication of new conflicts, and you see an enormous difficulty in solving the conflicts," he said.

"There is a clear lack of capacity in the international community to prevent and to solve conflicts."

Mr Guterres, 67, has two children from his marriage to his first wife, who died in 1998. He remarried in 2001.

Politics / Senate Will Re-introduce Gender Equality Bill – Saraki by honeywealth75(m): 10:30am On Apr 27, 2016
Senate President Bukola Saraki has stated that the Senate would soon re-introduce the Gender Equality Bill that was thrown out by the senators at plenary few weeks ago.

He made the disclosure on Tuesday, in Abuja, when Fatimah Samora, United Nations (UN) Country Representative, led a delegation of members of the United Nation Development Programmes (UNDP) on a visit to the Senate president.

He said the bill would be re-listed as soon as possible, and all contending issues of violence, participation in governance, education and entrepreneurship would have been addressed in the new bill as he responded to Samora’s call for the need to revisit the controversial Gender Equality Bill.

“I can assure you that the bill will be reintroduced as soon as possible as all contending issues in the bill like violence, education and inheritance are being addressed,” he said.

”I want to reassure you that this Senate is going to pursue goals similar to that of the United Nations in Nigeria. You can see we have a size able number of the Senators present here, that reflects the readiness and commitment of this present Senate to collaborate with you.
