Hello guys, please I need your help oooo. I haven't been able to sleep well. I applied to CNA and Sheridan since June but didn't get admission. I was asked to submit some documents and after that didn't hear anything from them.

I also applied to Conestoga on August 24th but after asked to resubmit some documents, I was on the wait list.

Since January is no longer feasible, please can you guys help out and let me know which schools give admission fast. I don't know if it's my study gap of 8 years that's affecting me though. Please if you also know of any school giving admission for Januray intake please let me know.

Also note that I got admission into a non-DLI school (Oulton College), but I'm not sure if it'll be easy to switch to another school when I get to Canada or get the refund of the $3000 deposit. Please help out with any information you can give out about any of the above. Thank you.

Try KEYANO COLLEGE. It is located @ Fort Mcmurray, Alberta.
It will baffle you those guys are still taking for Jan.

Deposit is 750CAD and you can get 50% refund if you turn it down after payment.

Nairaland / General / Re: Nigerians Are Good In Creating Problems And Later Blame The Government. by HonourableJoe: 11:40pm On Sep 11, 2023
Every human being, including those in the Western world that Nigerians refer to, are capable of perpetrating the same crimes as us but guess what is limiting these crimes? LAW AND ORDER.

A country where lawmakers (legislators) can't make laws for the benefit of the country, a people NOMINATED by executives.

A country where law interpreters (Judiciary) are not fair with the constitution but interpret to favor the highest bidders. After all, those highest bidders SELECTED them for the job.

A country where law enforcers (Executive) aren't obeying the little laws made or interpreted by those they either nominated (legislator) and selected (judiciary) respectively. They control the resources and there is nothing anyone will do.

Laws make a nation where people reside, whereas people (few) make the laws that keep a sane nation.

If my guess is right, you landed couple of days ago. If it was before the rain then for the weather aspect, wait for winter lol. If about 18°c cause blocked nose then i cannot imagine what -35°c and -40°c will do.

Congratulations on your arrival

Army2022:
Good morning all.
Landing gist. (#Read the story, forget the grammatical mistakes)
I applied for SP October 2022 for January resumption, got my PPR end of January 2023 (a week after Deferral to Sept2023 was approved).

Left 9ja this week through Ethiopian airlines.
Checked in my luggage (paid for extra)
I regretted wearing canvas, got tired of pulling it off at security checks ( if you can wear slippers, please do to save yourself the stress).

Yea...I was so surprised as my back bag was not even weighed, I wish I had added more things to it (hiss).

The journey was so smooth, but it was the Longest journey of my life, I even cried sef.
We left Los at past 1pm, got to Addis Ababa 9pm and immediately checked in to another flight and continued our journey.
At 5am we stopped at Dublin to refuel(it seems this took UpTo an hour, I'm not sure), but nobody left the plane. 😁 Through the window I saw plenty cows feeding near their airport.

After flying for about what looked like forever...I don't know if it was because of the long journey or because I began to miss my parents, but shaar uncontrollable tears began to drop.

😁They used food and drinks to finish us in that journey!
I slept throughout, I only wake up to eat.
The routine was, sleep, wake-up,go back to sleep, wake-up to more food and drinks 😄.

Finally we landed in Toronto, very beautiful airport. I asked questions and proceeded to get Study permit .
Hmmm So many students, of which 98% were Indians.
Ehen, they didn't even ask us any question. Our LOI was collected, few minutes later they gave me a paper. I asked the officer what next, he said that's your sp, you can go. Wow, just like that? I was supprised!

Then I proceeded to locate my luggage, checked into my next flight to Alberta(to be with fam before sch resumes). Mehn...4hrs flight again? Same country ooo! I became sick, nearly threw up, feverish etc. I became 95% healed at the sight of my nephews and nieces running to hug auntie at the airport.
Canada is very big abeg.

Weather experience.
*First of all As I'm typing this, one of my nose is blocked😄.
*8pm sun still shines! Wow
9pm be like 9ja's 5pm
This is so amazing!!

*The breeze is so cold like ice. And it's windy, this is the only thing I dislike.(because it makes me dress as if it's winter😄, which leaves me wondering how scary winter is going to be)
I don't know if I should still go ahead and change my dli from Ontario to Alberta, mehn this their weather scares the hell out of me.

*All their restaurants I've been to reads "wait to be seated" nawaoo.
*Neat rides, big cars, beautiful cars. The city I'm in and it's environ is amazing 😍
*Everybody I've come across is polite and friendly.

* This country is very big, it will contain all of us.

Good luck to all the PPR hopeful.
To those who got rejected, get your gcms note, correct your errors,do the right thing, reapply and get your PPR asap. No time, because Canada needs us.

To all the Guru's here, please help
I have my new passport, I want to apply for visa extension as my old passport will expire soon.
Is 15kcad pof enough to show for visa extension?
2yrs course, but I've paid for 1st semester which will start by Sept.
Thank you nairaland😍

I mean to say HND is 3years post secondary while PGD was said to be 1 year Cert. This is according to IQAS

In Alberta for example, you can't use your HND or PGD for Masters.

Up till now, none. Nigeria PGD is almost useless there as u can't use for Masters.

If you got evidence of any school taking HND for Masters or even PGD, drop it here.

ShowYoung:

Thank you very much for attesting that HND is assessed to be equivalent of Canadian PGD. I only didn't want to show credential assessment because of privacy reason. At least I have seen 3 from WES, IQAS, ICES that belong to people that I know.

I will like if you can assist post the picture where it is stated that HND is equal to PGD too aside the 3 year diploma so it will be clearer and there won't be unnecessary argument on that again.

I agree with you HND = 3 year diploma + PGD.

For Canada, HND (distinction) was accepted for Master of Social Work by Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Also attached is another credential assessment from WES which assessed HND to be equivalent of Canadian PostGrad Cert.

Good analysis @ShowYoung.

I could say easily your data could be correct for US and UK but from your writeup, you aren't giving so much abt Canada.

Now let me say this, Canada see your OND, HND as 3 years post secondary Diploma.
&
PGD as 1year graduate Certificate.

This is according to IQAS which is a recognized body for evaluation in Canada.

The attached document is from IQAS evaluation.

If its okay by you, drop names of schools and courses that admits HND for Masters in Canada.

ShowYoung:

Your are entitled to your opinion. I have stated out what I know and am sure of. You don't have to agree.

You are the one confusing yourself and others with the bolded. If it weren't for the fact that this place is for the sake of information seeker, I will not engage in this argument.

I don't argue without evidence and data. What you need to do as an educated person is to ask for evidence, debunk the evidence through another evidence or agree that those universities in the UK, US, Australia etc that accept HND to master's program are not standard or don't know what they are doing.

You can even add that WES Canada do not know what they are doing for them to assess HND as equivalent of Canadian PostGrad Cert.

You can even say Canadian colleges and universities are not standard for accepting HND to at least Post Grad studies where no two year post secondary diploma is acceptable.

Evidence

1. HND is assessed to be equivalent to PostGrad Cert by WES Canada (You will ask for evidence)

2. People have secured admission to master's degree in Canada using HND (Distinction)-- You will ask for the evidence.

3. Someone has secured admission to a PhD program directly in the US. Please ask for evidence.

4. People have secured master's degree admission with HND in Nigeria, the UK, the US, Benin, Togo etc. Please work with data and ask for evidence.

5. HND is not regarded as a 2 year diploma-- I will show you evidence. HND is acceptable for PostGrad Diploma and PostGrad Cert admissions in Canada where no 2 year post secondary diploma is acceptable. I have provided you reason, I challenge you to ask for evidence.

I challenge you to come out and provide evidence and do not just issue words of mouth.

Word of mouth can lie, may be wrong, inconsistent and incorrect, but data can never lie.

Let us work with data.

Business / Re: I Want To Arrest My Father For Selling My Palm Oil by HonourableJoe: 2:04pm On Jul 11, 2023
Well said.
Thumbs up to you and every other person having same opinion. That jot withstanding, I also do not have anything against other's suggestions. I will drop some points here:

1. MOVING ON: This is obviously the cheapest thing to do. This doesn't mean you aren't angry but understanding that a live was saved is a good start. After all, u are trying to make profit go obviously better yourself, your immediate family or your own family. WHAT IF YOU DONT HAVE THEM?

2. FIND A BALANCE: Speak to your ppl. From the story it shows that while the hernia was troubling your brother, you didn't do much because you didn't have much BUT you had what could save him tied smwhere... what if the win blew those oil jars away or fire gut them? I bet your anger wouldn't be to God who made all things. Reconcile and speak to them, anger never settles anything. Balance this sour relationship and let your bro be grateful you saved him than see you as one u almost didn't want to.

Overall, @OP, I want to on behalf of your family say I am sorry for making your hard earn money go just like that especially without your consent BUT be grateful you saved a life.

I also pray you get your reward sooner than you expect. Nothing last forever, not even the profit from the oil.

Lastly, if you were dying, would you sell those oil?

PEACE!!

michlins:
Honestly I don't know how to help you. This whole thing is not straight. Your dad was under immense pressure meanwhile this is your life savings and investments.

But here's what I can tell you,if your brother had died, you will still sell the kegs, and it won't be enough to bury him.

Just find a way to move forward with your wife but no matter what you do, do not marry yet. Don't let the frustration push you into the hands of a woman cause you will be extending this poverty to your own kids

Business Analysis

If she want to get inspiration of who has done it nd helped others, she should check on Eno Eka on instagram. That lady is an award winner, from Acct to Tech BA.

Also, your wife's skills are easily transferable and she could fit in any industry or easily work in any financial industry this time around as a BA

lifenajeje:
My wife wants to switch from accounting to tech..

Which area in tech would be much easier for her to switch to based on her accounting background though she never worked as an accountant.

She uses excel well.

Yes o
I tell ppl, if you can afford ut please go through short distance.

Add that cost to the cost of immigration. Some people feel sick after travelling 8hrs how much more 16hrs esp if your destination is still hours away.

SLOVFO:

Thanks brother. I was really wondering how I would manage that straight 16hrs flight time on Ethiopian airlines.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by HonourableJoe: 7:48am On May 22, 2023
No transit Visa required for both but please go with Lufthasan

The 16hours from Ethiopia to Toronto for example is tiring.

The layover in Dublin doesn't count to me because your legs won't touch down because they are just refuelling.

In my opinion, use LUFTHASAN

SLOVFO:
Hello good people, I intend traveling to Canada sometime in July for a two year diploma course. I want to know the earliest day I could travel? Does it even matter? My school starts in August 28.

I am about booking my flight. Between Lufthansa and Ethiopian Airlines which gives a better travel experience for a first time international traveler? From the Lufthansa flight's itinerary, there would be a layover at Frankfurt international airport, while Ethiopian Airlines will stop at Addis Ababa, I wonder if transit visas would be required for any of those transit points?
