On the morning of Dec 25th, 2011, as worshippers gathered for Christmas prayers inside St Theresa Catholic Church, Madalla, Niger State, a bomb exploded killing 37 worshippers. Nigerians were horrified.
"Who could have done this?" was the question on everyone's lips.

Goodluck Jonathan, the go-to culprit for everything wrong wt Nigeria was not only blamed but cursed generously. He managed a vow to bring the culprit/s to justice.
In no time, the man pictured above, Kabiru Umar Abubakar Dikko, AKA Kabiru Sokoto was identified as the mastermind of the horrendous bombing.

Security agents under strict instructions from President Jonathan went crazy looking for him and his Boko Haram cell in Abaji was discovered. But despite infiltrating the cell, the terrorist was no where to be found. Intel would later lead to the Asokoro lodge of Kashim Shettima, then the governor of Borno state. Lo and behold that was where the murderer was found and arrested.
Under interrogation, he revealed more info and was taken for a search of his premises at Abaji under the command of Policeman Zakari Biu.

Now Biu is an interesting character who alongside the likes of Hamza Mustapha, Sgt. Rogas and Paul Okuntimo did Abacha's sordid jobs. But the unforgiving Olusegun Obasanjo, like he did to all the lunatics of the Abacha era would retire the policeman immediately. How Zakari Biu sneaked back into the NPF under President Yar'Adua remained unnoticed until he was implicated in the escape of Kabiru Sokoto. .

Just hours after Kaburi Sokoto was taken for a search his home in Abaji under the command of Biu news came that the terrorist had escaped custody on their way to Abaji. A livid Jonathan quickly got Zakari Biu and everyone involved arrested and ordered for Sokoto to be produced by whatever means. Another set of state security agents would later track him to Biu village where after a heavy shootout between his men and security agents, he was arrested and under tight security transported to Abuja and charged to court.

On December 21, 2013 he was handed a life sentence by a judge who remarked that the terrorist showed zero remorse for the murders he committed.
Why was Kabiru Sokoto hiding in the Borno State Governor's Lodge, Asokoro?
Why was Kashim Shettima vehemently opposed 2 the security directives issued by President Jonathan with respect to the Boko Haram crisis such that it culminated in the Chibok tragedy?

Why was Shettima insistent on amnesty for Boko Haram even 3yrs after the presiding judge in the Kabiru Sokoto case clearly said Sokoto did not show any remorse in the course of his trial?

We will keep retelling these stories for the benefit of those who are unfamiliar with our immediate history, even if only to serve as sign posts on their walk towards the next polls, and to those who have mischievously chosen to forget, so that by tomorrow when posterity sees the Nigeria our generation bequeathed to them, they will know where we each stood when it mattered.

Two days before the Shettima was announced as a running mate, the same Kabiru sokoto escapes from Kuje prison.

In time for the work ahead!

Alongside Sokoto, many top terrorists including the kidnap kingpin responsible for the death of top police IRT men, Wadume; the masterminds of the UN building, Nyanya and Police HQ bombings, including d Ansaru leader Khalid al Barnawi and 6 of his close lieutenants all got freed.

Not many knw that the preferred/anointed candidates of the ANPP in Borno State, Alh. Modu Fannami Gubio & Goni Sheriff, younger brother of the then gov, Ali Modu Sheriff, were both assassinated 2months to election. That was how Kashim Shettima emerged as flagbearer.

Now that you are here, I'd like to ask again, WHO KILLED FUNSHO WILLIAMS prior to the 2007 Gubernatorial election in Lagos State? Who gave the order?

The attack on the US Capitol and the EndSars Riots have more in common than differences, The EndSars terrorists did more damage to the society... I am happy to have fulfilled my promise to the community of Persons with Special Needs, by assenting to the Disability Bill. We have also inaugurated a National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, to take the work to the next level, and implement our vision in full.

I thank the Governors of Plateau, Lagos and Nasarawa States for enacting disability laws and establishing Disability Rights Commissions; I am calling on Governors of Yobe, Kano & Kogi to implement their laws, while those States that are yet to do so should take necessary action.

As shared by Twitter user @ValientNig

HOW BUHARI EXPOSED THE HYPOCRISY OF THE WEST

When #EndSARS criminals and idiots unleashed their riots, killings, destructions and looting across Nigeria, under the pretext of fighting police brutality, it took President Muhammadu Buhari over two weeks to direct security forces to quell the insurrection of the bloodthirsty criminals. Even at that, we saw how a plethora of very hypocritical human "lies" lawyers, civil society groups, Amnesty International, the corrupt and jaundiced press, and American top leaders and politicians descended on him with lies and more lies that he was repressing human rights with brute force. They lied with loud voices that Buhari was repressing the freedom of speech and peaceful protests, whereas there was nothing peaceful in what those murderous criminals unleashed on Nigeria.

Let's go to Hong Kong for a few seconds in recollection of the violent protests by similar overfed charlatans who unleashed all manner of destructions on the beautiful Island's infrastructure and economy, all in the name of so called quest for freedom from imminent Chinese rule. For about one year, beginning from June 2019 to about the same month in 2020, the rioters turned Hong Kong into a theatre of bedlam and mayhem, with great encouragements from the almighty America. But while all the riots and violence lasted, China did not bother to send in troops from the mainland to quell the insurrection.

But look at what happened in America on January 6, 2021. The kind of "peaceful protests" that cropped up in Nigeria and Hong Kong cropped up, but within just two hours, the American authorities unleashed heavily armed National Guards on them, and before you could say LEKKI LIES, four of the "peaceful protesters" on the Capitol Hill were "massacred" by the troops. Just two hours! Buhari waited for over two weeks while China simply looked on for over one year.

Now, who is more tolerant of dissent, if we are to judge

Nigeria, China and America with the same kind of standards America loves to preach to others about human rights and the rule of law? Doesn't it seem that while America knows and recognizes that violent insurrections from criminals and dissidents can cripple nations, yet they encourage it abroad while brutally suppressing it at home? Why is it right for the National Guards to kill violent protesters in America but wrong for Buhari to direct soldiers to quell similar problems here, and why is it also wrong for China to do the same if it so wishes?

Apparently, while commercial activists and civil society groups, in conjunction with some hate groups and associations in Nigeria, love to paint Buhari as a tyrant, we now know where real tyranny lies. And we also know those who are more tolerant of dissent.

Messi and Ronaldo first went to the FIFA Gala in 2007

FIFA.com takes a fun look at what was happening at the time

Which films, songs and sportspeople were en vogue?

The date was 17 December 2007. The venue was the Zurich Opera House. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, 20 and 22 years old respectively, were present at FIFA’s annual awards’ ceremony for the first time.

They ultimately finished second and third behind Kaka in the FIFA World Player of the Year running. Nobody could have predicted Messi and Ronaldo would share the next ten top male individual awards between them and, 13 years later, would both still be among the ten nominees for The Best FIFA Men’s Player. To underscore just how extraordinary the longevity of these two Martians is, FIFA.com takes a light-hearted look at what was happening in the world around 17 December 2007.

WhatsApp and Instagram didn’t exist. They now have 2 billion and 1.2 billion monthly active users respectively.

Irreplaceable by Beyonce and Umbrella by Rihanna featuring Jay-Z were the best-selling singles of 2007.

Amy Winehouse had just released the album Back to Black, decorated by the track Rehab, which helped her scoop an unparalleled five awards at the 50th Grammies.

Belgium, now top, were 49th on the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking.

Salt Bae was working for free in a butcher’s and a restaurant in Argentina. Already in debt, he’d taken a loan to pay for a flight and support himself while learning the ropes in the carnivore’s paradise.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – the last in J.K. Rowling’s fantasy-novel series – had just smashed the Guinness World Record for the fastest-selling fiction book in history.

Francesco Totti, despite playing the entire 2006/07 season with a metal pin in his ankle, was the European Golden Shoe holder, having pipped Afonso Alves to the award.

The late Steve Jobs unveiled the first Apple iPhone – colloquially known as iPhone 1 – to unprecedented fanfare.

The first episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Mad Men and The Big Bang Theory had just aired. The latter went on to smash records set by Cheers and Friends, while the Kardashian family recently announced that their show will end after its 20th season next year. The last-ever episode of The Sopranos aired in 2007.

Jamie Vardy, almost 21, was working in a factory and earning an extra £30 a week to turn out for Stocksbridge Park Steels in the eighth tier of the English pyramid.

For the first time since Alain Prost, Nigel Mansell and Nelson Piquet in 1986, three drivers had gone into the final Grand Prix of the season hoping to conquer the Formula One World Championship. Kimi Raikkonen, who started out third, dramatically pipped both Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso to glory.

Netflix had just begun its metamorphosis from DVD-rental company into the streaming titan it is today.

Lyon, Inter Milan and Stuttgart were the reigning champions of France, Italy and Germany respectively.

I Am Legend, starring Will Smith, was released three days earlier. The highest-grossing films of the year were Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Spider-Man 3.

`Onesies’ were exploding in popularity due to the likes of Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, One Direction, Katy Perry and Rihanna.

Fernando Torres’s transfer from Atletico Madrid to Liverpool made him the costliest footballer of 2007, while Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo and Hernan Crespo were the three most-expensive players in history.

Asafa Powell (100 metres), Michael Johnson (200 and 400) and Wilson Kipketer (800) were world-record holders. Those records now belong to Usain Bolt (100 and 200), Wayde van Niekerk (400) and David Rudisha (800).

Lais Ribeiro was pregnant, broke and struggling to study to become a nurse. The Victoria’s Secret Angel was discovered by a modelling agent within a year of giving birth and been one of the world’s most famous supermodels since.

Mia Hamm was the 158-goal leading markswoman in women’s international football. She held the record from 1999 until Abby Wambach broke it in 2013. Christine Sinclair claimed the record earlier this year.

Food grown in space had never been eaten – a fact vanquished when NASA astronaut Scott Kelly consumed lettuce.

Sky Brown, who is extraordinarily third on the Olympic World Park Skateboarding Ranking, wasn’t even born.

Crime / Nigeria Records Reduction In Deaths Caused By Terrorists In 2019 – Report by hoodedjaystrim(m): 9:07am On Nov 27, 2020

A Global Terrorism Index report produced by the Institute for Economics & Peace says Nigeria has recorded a reduction in deaths caused by terrorists.

The report which measures the impact of terrorism on countries across the world however ranked Nigeria the third most terrorised country in the world.

According to the report, only Afghanistan and Nigeria recorded over 1,000 deaths “and both countries had significant reductions in the number of people killed in 2019”.

The report revealed that Nigeria recorded the second-largest reduction in deaths from terrorism in 2019, with the number falling from 2,043 to 1,245, a 39.1 per cent reduction, which was mainly due to a fall in terrorism deaths attributed to Fulani extremists.

It stated that, despite the overall fall in the impact of terrorism across the world, it remains a significant and serious problem in many countries.

“There were 63 countries in 2019 that recorded at least one death from a terrorist attack and 17 countries that recorded over 100 deaths from terrorism,” the report said.

“By contrast, in 2015 there were six countries that recorded over a thousand deaths from terrorism.”

The largest fall in the impact of terrorism occurred in Afghanistan, which recorded 1,654 fewer deaths from terrorism in 2018, a 22.4 per cent decrease from the prior year.

“However, Afghanistan remains the country most impacted by terrorism, after overtaking Iraq in 2018.

It explained that the reduction in deaths caused by terrorists in Nigeria occurred despite a small increase in deaths attributed to Boko Haram, which has been the most active terrorist group in the country over the past decade.

Deaths from terrorism in Nigeria are now 83 per cent lower than at their peak in 2014, the report said.

The report said the Islamist group Boko Haram, formally known as Jama’tu Ahlis
Sunna Lidda’awati Wal-Jihad, recorded a surge in terrorist activity in 2019, following a period of steady decline.

“Boko Haram ranked as the second deadliest terrorist group in 2019 and remains the deadliest in sub-Saharan Africa. Since its rise in 2009, Boko Haram has been responsible for thousands of deaths throughout the Lake Chad Basin region of West Africa,” it said.

The Salafi-jihadi insurgency has led to over 37,500 combat-related deaths and over 19,000 deaths from terrorism since 2011, mainly in Nigeria.

“Originally formed in Northeast Nigeria bordering the Lake Chad region, the terror group has spread into Chad, Cameroon and Niger.”

The global terrorism report added that the largest splinter group is the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), which has claimed responsibility for a number of brutal attacks targeting civilians and military personnel in 2019.

“ Owing to data collection restrictions, attacks by both Boko Haram and ISWAP are
attributed to Boko Haram in the GTD,” it said.

“Of the 1,068 deaths attributed to Boko Haram in 2019, 69 per cent occurred in Nigeria, while the remainder occurred in Cameron, Niger and Chad at 20, seven and four per cent, respectively. Compared to previous years, the proportion of terrorism deaths recorded in Nigeria fell, while significant increases were recorded in Cameroon and Niger, highlighting the increased reach of the organisation into neighbouring countries.”

According to the report, in Cameroon, deaths attributed to Boko Haram increased
threefold in 2019. The majority of terrorism deaths in Cameroon resulted from attacks on civilians and military targets at 50 and 48 per cent, respectively.

The group’s deadliest attack occurred in Cameroon when several hundred assailants, armed with rocket launchers, attacked military positions in Darak, Extreme-North.

Over 101 deaths were recorded, including at least 37 soldiers and civilians. While Niger recorded a 176 per cent increase in terrorism deaths attributed to Boko Haram in 2019.

The majority of attacks occurred in the Lake Chad Basin Region in Niger. However,
attacks were also recorded in the western regions of Tillaberi and Niamey, where Boko Haram had not previously conducted attacks.

The Multinational Joint Task Forces (MNJTF), struggled to reclaim territory from Boko Haram in 2019 and the group maintained limited safe havens in parts of northeast Nigeria and on islands in Lake Chad, where they prevented the reestablishment of state administration, service delivery and humanitarian relief.

Politics / President Buhari Congratulates Joe Biden, US President-Elect by hoodedjaystrim(m): 9:39pm On Nov 07, 2020
Congratulations to US President-Elect Joe Biden on his election at a time of uncertainty and fear in world affairs. His election is a reminder that democracy is the best form of government because it offers the people the opportunity to change their government by peaceful means.

In a democracy, the most powerful group are not the politicians, but voters who can decide the fate of the politicians at the polling booth. The main fascination of democracy is the freedom of choice and the supremacy of the will of the people.

President-Elect Biden’s remarkable track record gives us hope that he will add value to the presidency and world affairs. We look forward to greater cooperation between Nigeria and the United States, especially at economic, diplomatic, political and security levels.

I urge Mr. Biden to deploy his vast experience in tackling the negative consequences of nationalist politics on world affairs—which have created divisions and uncertainties—and to introduce greater engagement with Africa on the basis of reciprocal respect and shared interests.
