Why not buy locally, so that at the end of the day it won't turn to a case of pennywise pound foolish. Thank you sir. Note 8 or Redmi 9 Emabinu. |

Mariangeles: You're welcome.
There are good options. We're just lacking in creativity on how to incorporate them into our daily diet. I'd say we're more of creatively lazy and are stuck with our old diets than we lack of options.
Foods like sorghum and fonio are not fully explored ( who knows what other ones are out there that we haven't even discovered yet), and they're packed with nutrients upon nutrients and are gluten free. They're an excellent choice for diabetics.
In other parts of the world, the new generation are creating new healthier cuisines that have become staples. I believe we should do the same rather than complain, or we might be stuck with our ancestors' cuisines for the rest of our lives We should take our food nutritionist serious then. Thanks again. |

Mariangeles: OK. To maintain a healthy weight, I'd say go more on protein foods than carbohydrates. Plant based foods like beans are really good for you. They make you feel full for longer and help you maintain a steady weight. Pottage beans, moimoi, akara are very good options. You can have any with pap. Eggs are good also with boiled sweet potatoes, yam or plantain. You don't have to be completely full before you stop eating. Have a fruit or vegetable to complete your meal: orange, cucumber, apple, banana, water melon ... Thank you. Almost all of our food here in naija is carb, I don't know who did this to us, it's all good sha, I'll follow your advice. |

Mariangeles: It is not healthy. It'll increase your blood sugar, plus, you'd be depriving yourself of other essential nutrients. You need a meal plan? I'm good with my current IF, but I don't mind. |

Mariangeles: Oh...OK Think about incorporating vegetables and fruits into your diet, including nuts. You'd feel light and more active, but never hungry. Thanks. What do you think about eating just fruits for a month? |

FutureFocus:
whatever rocks your boat Dear but remember that our body systems are not the same , some people can eat anything at any time, drink beer etc and still remain slim fit while some dare not because they will be so over bloated like balloon within a month , the secret is understanding your own body system , there are some times I eat just ones a day and then round it up with snack at night for financial reason and the impact of that in my system is usually great , people like me usually value what we eat because we don't eat much and so whatever I want to eat must be nice and healthy. I even find it hard to breath fine if I eat heavy meals 3 times a day , I mean like having rice and stew in the morning, Amala with Ogufe in the afternoon, and another heavy meal in the night will make me heavy and even difficult for me to breath and enjoy my sleep.
I will rather have Amala around 11 AM , then rice around 7.30 PM ( eat twice a day and feel light) snacks plus tea around 8 AM , Garri Between 1-2PM then anything can go for early dinner. ( eat thrice a day) any major meal after 8PM is punishment for me, real punishment. in a situation where I had solid meal for early breakfast , I must have something light for lunch or even skip it totally to enable me enjoy my dinner around 7.30PM. mind you? I'm not fat, not over-weigh , its just my system and how i feel comfortable. but the good thing now is my financial state has helped me maintain a healthy eating style, I think you should also understand your system. Thanks I started OMAD some weeks back, then I read some articles about it effects on the body so I had to stop, I'm back to my 20:4. I like food o but I no fit eat anyhow, fat go just full everywhere, very nonsense body. |

FutureFocus: I agree with you on this but it takes discipline and hard work to eat well , people are often lazy to eat in the morning except those who need it due to the nature of their jobs , poverty is another factor, sometimes I intentionally wait till about midday before having my first meal when I'm broke , that way you only eat twice a day, lol. but most people with white collar job still prefer light breakfast in the morning because you don't want to start sleeping in the office after a heavy meal. This nutritionist be confusing someone, they tell you not to miss breakfast, them go still preach intermittent fasting. Las las we go dey alright. |

diordaves: You didn't say the nutritionist asked you to stuff yourself. Yes, the nutritionist is correct, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. That doesn't mean it should be heavy. When nutritionist say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, they mean DO NOT skip breakfast all in the name of controlling body weight. You MUST have breakfast, but it is wise and healthy to keep it light. Fruit and Veg, cereal with less sugar, oat are superior breakfast options. Breakfast like a king, Lunch like a prince, Dinner like a pauper. |
