Egyptian trucks carrying vital aid and fuel to the besieged and bombarded Gaza Strip have been forced to retreat after Israel warned Cairo that the trucks would be bombed if they entered the enclave, Sinai for Human Rights said on X.

The rights group said it obtained “exclusive footages confirming the blocking of Egyptian fuel trucks and humanitarian aids from access to the Rafah land crossing borders after Israel issued a warning to the Egyptian authorities that if it brought relief supplies into the Gaza Strip, the trucks would be bombed.”

Hamas threatens to ‘broadcast’ hostage executions following Israeli airstrikes on Gaza

Hamas has warned it will begin broadcasting the execution of hostages if Israel targets “innocent civilians" by continuing to bomb the Gaza Strip.

The terror group said it had taken “dozens” of soldiers hostage since Saturday's surprise attack on Israel where it launched thousands of rockets and conducted air and land attacks.

Israel responded to the attacks by Hamas with a “complete siege” on Gaza as it vowed to respond with a force “like never before”.

Israel’s government, media websites hit with cyberattacks

Hacktivists, including cyber gangs such as the infamous Killnet, a Russian hacker group, are targeting various Israeli organizations following deadly attacks by Hamas militants.

The gun battles between Hamas and the Israeli Defense Forces forces continue, and now, cyber warriors have joined the fight.

It was impossible to connect to the website gov.il from around the world on Sunday evening, and Killnet swiftly took full responsibility for the attack on Telegram, a social network.

"Israeli government, you are responsible for this bloodshed. Back in 2022, you supported the terrorist regime in Ukraine. You betrayed Russia. Today, Killnet officially informs you of this! All government systems of Israel will be subject to our attacks!" Killnet said on the hacked website.

On Telegram, Killnet later said that the group is not targeting ordinary Israeli citizens – its target is the “regime” that “sold itself to the NATO LovePeddler, the same main terrorist, with the slogan of PEACE and DEFENSE!”

The group added: “The atrocities that Hamas or Israel commit against civilians are terrible! We exclude the possibility of attacking the critical infrastructure of both sides!”

Anonymous Sudan, another hacktivist group, widely suspected to be neither anonymous nor Sudanese – but Russian, has sided with Hamas and Killnet on Telegram.

The group attacked The Jerusalem Post website on Sunday. The media outlet said on X, formerly known as Twitter: “The Jerusalem Post has been targeted by multiple cyberattacks this morning causing our site to crash.”

“We'll be back soon and will continue to be the top source of information on Operation Swords of Iron and the murderous attacks by Hamas.”

On Saturday, Anonymous Sudan claimed to have targeted Israel’s Iron Dome, the country’s mobile all-weather air defense system, and also said it had attacked the Alert applications in Israel.

Iran, a longtime backer of Hamas, cheers attacks on Israel

The government of Iran, which for years has been engaged in a shadow war with Israel and has supported Hamas, cheered the group’s attack on Israel on Saturday.

African Film City Project in Epe, in the Eastern part of Lagos

A huge "film city" and visitor attraction project in Nigeria has reached a major milestone, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between marketing and development agency Del York International Group and The Lagos State Government.

The two partners signed what they described as a "monumental agreement to transform the face of the creative industry on the continent of Africa".

The deal will see the state government officially back the plans, which outline the creation of a leading destination for film-making, creativity and storytelling.

In 2021, Del York International appointed US-based experience design and production group, Storyland Studios, to masterplan and design the film city and entertainment industry campus.

The facility is envisioned as a sanctuary of leisure, entertainment, and learning; a place where film and all types of creative industry professionals can live, work, and learn in a serene and conducive environment with best-in-class facilities intermingled with amenities and infrastructure that support a modern sustainable city.

As part of the MoU, the project has been called "Kebulania" – a play on the word Alkebulan, the ancient name for Africa, which translates to 'Mother of Mankind' or 'Garden of Eden'.

Linus Idahosa, president and founder of Del York International Group, said: "“The industry has long desired a home, that special place on the continent that would galvanise our young people to a new hope while igniting the fire of their creativity.

An international incident was narrowly averted yesterday when a jet carrying Bola Tinubu was redirected away from Nigerian airspace.
After spending approximately two weeks abroad in France, Tinubu was en route back to Nigeria when, after passing over Algerian airspace and a short distance into Nigerien airspace, the aircraft abruptly veered westward, an unusual deviation for an eastbound flight. Such a sharp turn typically signifies an emergency.

To illustrate the flight path, a direct route from Algeria to Abuja, Nigeria would naturally involve passing over Niamey. However, the aircraft instead made an unexpected detour westward into Burkina Faso, suggesting an attempt to avoid something in Nigerien airspace. This diversion raised questions, as it seemed inefficient to burn aviation fuel merely to circumvent Niger's airspace.

Further complicating matters, the aircraft appeared to be headed towards Ghana during this deviation, only to make another sharp turn back eastward, eventually flying over Togo, Benin Republic, before reaching Abuja. It is crucial to note that the Nigerian authorities had recently reopened their airspace to civilian aircraft, and the aircraft carrying Tinubu belonged to the Nigerian presidential fleet, managed by the Nigerian Air Force. Therefore, the denial of airspace access raised concerns about what prompted this action.

Given the abrupt diversion into Burkina Faso, it is plausible that the Nigerien authorities perceived a threat or issued a warning that the aircraft would be forcibly grounded if it did not leave their airspace immediately. Was the Nigerien decision justified? The answer is complex. Notably, Tinubu and other ECOWAS leaders had previously threatened Niger with military intervention to reinstate Bazoum as the elected President of Niger. While ECOWAS had mentioned diplomatic efforts, they consistently left the military option on the table. Therefore, Niger's anticipation of potential conflict with ECOWAS, despite the absence of overt hostilities, had some basis.

The continued closure of the Nigeria-Niger border and other ECOWAS sanctions had created an atmosphere that historically preceded wars. Additionally, there was the concern that the aircraft might be equipped with surveillance equipment, considering the week-long stay in France, a major aircraft manufacturer. Such equipment could be used for espionage while flying over Nigerien airspace. While these factors may have influenced the Nigerien authorities' decision, it is essential to approach situations like these with caution rather than hastily.

Moreover, Nigeria and Niger are neighboring countries with deep historical ties. Even in the event of an internal conflict in Niger, Nigeria would likely serve as a refuge for those fleeing the turmoil. The ECOWAS leaders' reactions following the military coup in Niger might not have been the most constructive approach, as military regimes often respond to force more than diplomacy. The situation was further complicated by the fact that some prominent ECOWAS leaders had themselves come to power through coups or controversial means.

The sanctions imposed on Niger by ECOWAS leaders were, in a sense, affecting the same leaders who had initiated them. Tinubu's situation, from electoral disputes to judicial challenges, paralleled the controversies surrounding some ECOWAS leaders. The inconvenience of a two-hour detour to avoid Nigerien airspace during a six-hour journey to Europe, along with the deteriorating relations, showcased the unfortunate state of affairs.

The long-standing camaraderie between Nigeria and Niger has been strained, and it is essential to reflect on what has caused this decline in a once-robust relationship. Internal issues and controversies within Nigeria have contributed to its declining international standing. Until Nigerians, regardless of their profession or status, collectively strive to do what is right, the nation may not witness meaningful progress.
