Politics / Re: Goodluck Jonathan Government Test-run Itakpe-warri Rail-line (2014 VIDEO) by HospitalityDiva(f): 11:32pm On Aug 17, 2020
For those who may not be able to watch the video, here are what was said in the video:

1. At the time of test running this Itakpe-Warri railway line, the Abuja-Kaduna railway line was being constructed and almost completed.

2. The railway track was already laid (completed) from Ajaokuta to Itakpe to Warri as at 2014.

3. The entire project was 72% completed.

4. The only thing left for completion was road crossings (ramps and over-bridge).

5. According to the Minister, the Itakpe-Ajaokuta railway line was originally designed for the steel industry, but it has been integrated into the National Integrated Railway plan.

6. The GEJ administration had already awarded contract for another standard guage rail between Lagos and Ibadan. It was awarded to a Chinese firm (I’m guessing its CCECC).

7. What GEJ administration was planning to do was to interlink the Itakpe-Warri railway line to a standard gauge line between Lagos-Ibadan-Oshogbo-Abuja-Kaduna-Kano

8. Another standard gauge line is the one that will branch off from Lagos to Benin and then to the South East and terminating in Calabar.

Politics / Itakpe-ajaokuta-warri-railway Line: The Complete Story (A Must Watch VIDEO) by HospitalityDiva(f): 8:51am On Jun 11, 2020
Itakpe-Warri-Railway line is a 276-kilometres railway-line. It links Warri in Delta State to Ajaokuta, in Kogi State.

The contract for its construction was first awarded in 1987 during the administration of General Ibrahim Babangida.

Rotimi Amaechi, the minister of transportation, recently announced that the Itakpe-Warri rail line has been completed. This is coming after intervention by two different governments: Goodluck Jonathan and Mohammadu Buhari. Watch the video below.

The rail line was originally conceived as a cargo rail. It was meant for the transportation of Iron Ore to Ajaokuta (Kogi) and Aladja Steel Rolling mills (Delta State). It was also designed to transport processed steel to the seaport in Warri, Delta State. However, it was subsequently redesigned to become a commercial passenger railway line.

The construction railway line was initially planned to be delivered in five years. However, it was abandoned for over 30 years due to paucity of funds.

The project was abandoned after about 254 kilometres had been constructed.

The Itakpe-Warri-Railway-Line would have been the first standard gauge railway line in Africa if it had it not been abandoned.

In 2009, the Goodluck Jonathan-led government revived the construction of the Itakpe-Warri railway line. The Government approved N33bn for the redesign and completion of the remaining 22 kilometres.

After the change of Federal Government in 2015, the project was abandoned. Reportedly, it was abandoned due to lack of funds after it has reached 70% completion.

In 2017, the new administration of Mohammadu Buhari announced that his government will fund the revival of the Itakpe-Warri rail line at a cost estimate $200 million (N72 billion). The plan was to get the Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri rail line ready for commercial operations by 2019.

The Buhari administration proposed 12 new stations for the rail line between Itakpe and Warri. They include Itakpe; Eganiy; Adobe; Itogbo; Agenebode; Uromi; Egehen; Igbanke; Agbor; Abraka; Okpara and Ujewu stations.

Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation, on January 2020, announced the completion of the Itakpe-Warri rail line.

According to him, President Mohammadu Buhari would inaugurate the completed rail project later in 2020.

Ijawwomaninoyo:

Go and read again, "Meanwhile here in Lagos" is a comparison.

Why do we all have 24hrs, one head, two hands and legs but some people are billionaires while some are poor?

The comparison is getting too frequent, maybe you are not following as the guy up has said. At times they will even compare how children eat in class and how children eat at school in Kano.
What's that!

You might need to go have your eye checked. Maybe then, you would see that it wasn't the OP that compared with "Meanwhile here in Lagos".

What's with Autojosh constantly comparing Dubai and Nigeria these days though.

China would make more sense for comparison since we're copying their social media bill

Just sayin'

Sir, where in the post is the comparison? And so what if there was a comparison? Are the people in Dubai spirits? Don't we also have oil that they developed the place with?
