A Question does Nigeria make "fair" exchanges for the oil that it gives to other countries?
-Machinery, robots & equipment (that can be used for industrialization/manufacturing)
-Vocational schools
-Allow more subcontracts for key industrial sectors that can provide employment in Nigeria
-Joint business ventures to develop industry in Nigeria
-Semiconductor production in Nigeria?
-Help develop Nigerian telecommunications & Steel industry & Textiles industries
-Help develop Nigerian roads & transport infrastructure
-Joint venturing in automobile manufacturing
-Offer the services of their top scientists and increase the % of visas for study abroad; from Nigeria (ex. Tsingua Uni & Peking uni in China, Seoul National-korea, IIT-India, ETZ Zurich, MIT, Stanford, UToronto, Imperial College London, Rice, Berkeley, Harvard, Oxford, etc.)
-Exercise less stringent intellectual property protection of western co's
-HELP STABILIZE THE ELECTRICITY/ENERGY PROBLEM IN NIGERIA (probably one of the premier issues at hand!)
-Donate thousands of computers
-Invest in Nigerian health care institutions
-Help build Nigerian early childhood centers
-Help build more universities & poly-technic schools
-Help develop Nigerian biotechnological industries and help with food
-Cheap reproduction of academic textbooks by Rich Countries in Nigeria & or set up a special international fund to subsidize the purchase of academic books by developing country libraries, academics and students
-How come the Nigeria does not have physicists, geoengineers, physicians from the world's best science institutions investing the the development & infrastructure of africa? (USA taught Japan industrial organization, etc.)

Its very important to be aware of REAL history, most of today's world industrial/developed powers (Great Britain, USA, Japan, Korea, etc.) were quite PROTECTIONIST in regards their economies FIRST (and in doing so developed their domestic infrastructure and industries) before assuming a so-called "free market/trade" orientation. I'm in America, there is a reason why Walmart is at the top of the fortune 500, they are a monopoly that basically murders its smaller competition with quasi-slave labor and commodity pricing (underpricing its less endowed smaller competing businesses). Here in the USA, there are constant protests and lawsuits regarding the ubiquitous nature of Walmart and the subsequent peonage of entire local economies by their presence (entire counties, etc.).

HNosegbe: This is why I have always said that the kind of conservative, neo-liberal laissez-faire economics Madam NOI espouses is bad for developing countries.

No country ever attained development by opening up completely. A sensible country will first and foremost strengthen and protect its own industry until it is strong enough to compete with established foreign competitors. If we continue on this path, we will have nothing to call our own.

Nairaland / General / Re: 1 In 3 Black People In World Is A Nigerian by htown9ja: 3:49pm On May 14, 2012
Obviously that person cannot do simple math. There are about 1.3 billion black people in the world and only about 172,000,000 are of direct nigerian descent. Lol what about brazil?

"I have noticed that white people have a strong pride because their ancestors did a lot. That is why they are succeeding now. Lots of the history books lie and tell chocolate people that they were only slaves. This is why many moors are ignorant. If you want to learn more, watch the documentary Hidden Colors:

Exactly history to a great eextent is an instrument of POWER, hence why non-black ethnic groups actively denigrate or distort all things related to black heritage across the globe:
